      I use Woolite to wash my microfiber towels. It was also recommended for polypropylene and Gortex cold weather gear issue by the military. The main reason to use Woolite was it didn't clog the fabric pores.

    PPE rule I learnt from engineering, if you won’t drink or eat the product - wear appropriate gloves. If you’re not using the product as your eye drop - wear protective googles. If you won’t listen to the machine as music in full volume - wear ear protection. If you won’t use the product as perfume - wear a suitable mask.

    When doing a rinseless wash, ALWAYS pre-treat the section your working on. Doesn't matter the wash media (grout sponge, BRS or soaking edgeless microfiber towels) because you wanna break down that dust/dirt/muck first so it comes to the surface to be wiped away👍👍

    Pan, Another excellent informative video. One tip to convey is when using a power washer ALWAYS test the sprayer away from the vehicle when changing tips. This will ensure that if the attachment is not securely locked in place and you apply the trigger the attachment will go away from the vehicle preventing any damage from occurring. Joyeux Noel

      @@PanTheOrganizer My tip for washing a vehicle is to use the 'two bucket' method. Fill one bucket with a cleaning solution and the second one with just straight water and nothing else. Saturate your cleaning cloth with the soap solution from the first bucket and apply it to the vehicle, then when it's dirty rinse it in the second bucket that contains only water and squeeze out the cleaning solution that has become saturated with dirt and grime from the vehicle. Then dunk the cleaning cloth back into the bucket with the cleaning solution and continue. With this 'two bucket' method the cleaning solution doesn't get fouled with dirt as much as it would if you only used one bucket. This method is especially good for any very dirty cleaning job, not just for washing vehicles.

    Just want to point out that dust-masks won’t really protect you against fumes (which are vapor molecules). Vapor goes right through dust masks, which are meant for filtering particulate matter. If you’re dealing with nasty vapors, a cartridge respirator for chemical-filtration, and/or good ventilation exhaust fans for the area are your best bets. Love your videos!

    Your videos and videos of others brought up good memories when I was regularly washing my vehicle, about 15 years ago. Prices were different, products too. When I clicked on the links of the products you recommend, it is easy to get lost in abundance of them and by prices. I let car dealer wash the car after service, however a couple of years ago I stopped going to them and do maintenance myself. It means I haven't washed my car for a long time. I want to start washing my car again however I live in the apartment. I will get necessary stuff from your recommended list and I also recently received a portable pressure washer. Great video thanks Pan. My top tip to add to yours is use an in-line water filter when rinsing the car, especially in a hard-water area, then there is no need to touch the car's paint after washing it. If I have the time, I then use a blower to blast-out any trapped water which would otherwise drip for hours or stay trapped in recesses and channels. The filter I have been using for many years can be re-filled (by me) with new resin beads, usually once a year, and looks a bit like a large fire extinguisher.

    I have to disagree with you concerning always using a PH neutral soap. When a car is driven in the rain it picks up chemicals from the roadway, and these will not be washed off with PH neutral soap. It is then that I use Purple Power to wash the car. Yes, I understand that this will strip off whatever synthetic "wax" I might have used like Turtle Wax, but it is easy enough to recoat the vehicle. For normal washing for a car that has not been driven on the highway when it is raining, I use a PH neutral soap.

    • @JOSEPHwHAN
      @JOSEPHwHAN 2 роки тому

      When it comes to cars that are protected via ceramic/graphene coated, the PH neutral soaps are (in my opinion) more than enough. In all other car paint protectants, I'd agree with you.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 роки тому +2

      Alkaline shampoos are good once in a while, especially during winter months, as they can help remove road grime, road salts, and buildup of dirt a bit better, but I still wouldn't recommend using something like Purple Power for every single maintenance wash as that's too harsh and will dull the finish if used too often. For people who wash their cars like me twice weekly, all you need is a good pH neutral shampoo. Ceramic coated cars make wonders of keeping cars cleaner for longer.

I'm new to car detailing and have always enjoyed washing my cars (the prep starts a few days before with checking the weather and letting my wife/kids know ! - takes a few hours to vacuum and wash - very soothing) Anyway, my top-tip is I start with cleaning the windows and windscreen (front and rear) once I have the shampoo on the car. The windows are key as I don't want any little bits of dust/dirt from the top of the body onto the windows. I then rinse my mitt and clean the roof and work my way down to the bonnet and door panels. I always clean my wheels first then apply shampoo :-) Great tip also is to use separate mitts for upper and lower body. Thanks Pan and love all the comments :-)

My parents taught me the old “rag and dish soap” method, and I thought that something was missing. I then started researching, and now, thanks to you and other detailing channels, I’m slowly upgrading my car detailing game. Thanks for responding to old videos by the way.

      My pleasure. I'm actually the only big detailing channel that takes the time to personally respond to viewer comments on UA-cam, on a daily basis. I will say it can get overwhelming, as I spend up to four hours each day replying to comments, as you can imagine with one million subscribers sending thousands of messages daily. But I like to stay connected with my viewers.
      Funny you should talk about the parents teaching us the "rag and dish soap" routine, as I recently made a video explaining why we shouldn't use dish soap to wash our cars, as per the expert opinion of three leading industry chemists here: ua-cam.com/video/XBhOSBKXWr0/v-deo.htmlsi=Y8o4vJnkMDPoKeWv

    Living in the Midwest salt belt, AKA Rust Belt. It is pretty much impossible for most people to avoid going through automated washes in the winter months. I do agree with staying away from any type of brush wash though.

    This is specifically for those who are detailing for a customer/client.
    Clean wheels and shine tires first. I’ve found that doing MOBILE detailing the customer will often times come out after I’ve been cleaning for about 45mins to an hour and ask “how’s it going”.
    Doing wheels/tires first gives them something to see for progress/instant gratification.
    Even if ya have to to a slight wipe down at the end again, it’s still worth the added feeling boost it gives the customer.

    It’s amazing how many of these things I did as a teenager. It’s amazing how evolved the car wash has become. I do a full 2 bucket wash once a month, use ONR once a week for maintenance. Beadmaker as a drying aid and Collinite 845 every 6 months. All my knowledge comes from Pan and Obsessed Garage. Thank you, Pan.

    Great tips. If I'm doing any polishing or coating, I'll soak my used towels in a bucket of water with microfiber soap immediately after use. I find it really helps keep the towels clean after washing them.

    When washing with the two bucket method, my son and I have gotten into the habit of wringing out the wash mitt twice. You wash a panel, wring the mitt before the clean water (rinse) bucket then again after before you scoop up more soap from the wash bucket. Hope that makes sense.

    1 thing about the first tip: a squirt of dawn in a spray bottle full of water is fantastic for cleaning interior pieces that get touched a lot such as the steering wheel, because these items are covered in grease

    I learned so much from this video and will soon be watching your other videos. Unfortunately I can’t afford to take my car to a detail shop every time it snows here in Utah. They pre salt the roads before a storm and major salt dumping after or during a storm. I don’t have a garage so basically my only option is using the touch less car wash to keep the salt from destroying my undercarriage and paint. I wish there was another option. 😢
