I want to thank you for taking the time to show me your drills . Ive never trained in a gym but I definitely learn a lot from guys like you and Rob Pilger . IM 46 yrs. old , a veteran with plenty of time on my hands due to permanent and total disability . Thanks again brother , take care and keep up the good work .
Just figured out a way to set this up indoors finally , it's a little tight in my small space so my movements need to be precise . I improved my agility 10 fold by doing this a couple of times a week for about 20 minutes each session for about 5 months . Besides hitting the bag this is my favorite solo training drill. My legs are shredded now also . Shout out to JT ! Thanks again for showing us this , I love it !
Thanks , this is a great drill! I'm 59 years old and will be having my first fight in March. Not looking to whip anyone 's ass, just want to be respectable. This will help improve my movement .
@PortCityPhoenix thanks guys, I know what you are saying. all of my fights are on old VHS tapes and I probably wont get around to converting them for awhile. But anyways, i will have some vids coming up with a fellow boxer and you'll get to see some moves in various situations. I think this will be more representative of the stuff i'm teaching. thx again, JT
As mayweather says, it's all about the skills. The further you get into boxing the more you realize that weights vs. resistance bands or other conditioning questions don't make much difference. 90% of your skills are gonna come from basic training. lots of punches, footwork, bag work. road work, sprints, ab work. Do that first and then ask the question to yourself.
You know what My trainer put me through this and watching your videos helped me alot. Kept me moving facing the middle not keeping my eyes off and constantly moving. Kept it 3 to four rounds like you said and for three minute intervals. I watch your videos everyday and apply them. Im 5'9 and so I am short and I practice how to get in a taller fighter with your tips, too. Love it.
Thank you from saving me the time to do one of these videos. I see a lot of people square up as the weave (opening up their defense to body attacks and upper cuts and only having one side (lt or right) punch option. This is the best video I have seen for technique with the most offensive options. The measure of an effective defense is how many offensive options it creates.
Woah, this is a good idea :) Builds endurance, speed, reflexes, and it makes you sweat! Even though I train in a different martial arts style, I think that this will be a great workout and drill! Thanks so much for the idea! :D
@nightride18 There's no reason you can't be a great fighter, the formula is very straightforward, putting in the work is the hard part. I have more info at my blog, the link is in the description of the video above. Peace.
wow, you were completely right. My footwork is 100 times better and faster now. I can't believe a couple of your videos could fix so much so quickly. Thanks a million!!
@TeamTriplePK thanks man, trust me I'm not in top condition in this vid, but start with my blog in the description link above. When you get to the blog go to the calendar in the top right and click on Dec 24th, from there just find one of my older posts entitled 'How to Train for Boxing'
What an awesome drill. I've seen the 4 way slip line before but I've never seen anyone work it like that. I'm excited to try this tomorrow. Hell, I want to go back to the gym tonight! Thanks for sharing. Very generous of you.
This is so awesome I don't know why any of my mma trainers have incorporated this drill, but I'm going to start doing this as much as possible...I might even go do it now. Thanks man
its a great question, and a question asked so much I wrote a post on it here at my blog - precisionstriking dot ca "am I too old to box" look it up and let me know what you think
@Moolb99 lol, finally these videos are paying off! Thank you. Respect to you for your dedication to boxing. Don't forget to check out my blog and if you have any questions on training etc then please send me a message.
@chingon711 the ducking itself is to duck a punch, and the stepping off is to create angles and move to safety. You don't always have to wait for a punch to duck, you can pre-emptively duck to throw off your opponent, keep him guessing where your head is going to be.
You have absolutely beautiful footwork. I train traditional muay thai but fight much more dutch kickboxing style so new footwork is always appreciated. Keep it up man.
this vid was awesome! thanks for sharing. most people never understand how important slipping and working defense truly is to boxing. i can only hope that one day i will be able to move as good as you. thanks again for posting.
I used to have this problem and had to improvise, tie it to anything you can, a pipe or something on the wall. It doesn't have to be a perfect criss cross. Worst case scenario you can always tape the wraps to the wall, you just need good tape and a wall you don't mind getting dirty.
Great drill. You make it look effortless. I wish you made a video on the steps and how to move so fluidly. As a boxer my movements are, as my coach puts it, robotic. So the challenge for me is just how to move smoothly around the ring and not so stagnant.
Hey bud, are you the southpaw in blue? Nice fight, you look like a good aggressive little boxer, fast hands and nice counter-punching. My only suggestion would be to move your head a bit more and try to create angles. Slip to the right when you throw that straight left, and after your combo roll off that right hook, if you can step to an angle and start a new attack you can really surprise your opponent. I think you have the footwork and the fitness to do it. keep up the good work
to be honest I don't have anything catered to kids as far as general drills. I can tell you that kids love to hit the pads right away. so instead of trying to teach by showing i'll get them to hit the pads. start with something that feels good like a right hand, then after they hear the "whack" sound i'll make a couple small adjustments to their stance etc. I try to just make them feel good about what they are doing as soon as possible.
My opinion is to line it up and do it five days a week for 3-4 weeks, see if anything changes in that time in your game overall. I'd love to get feedback from a tall fighter. I can't see that it would do you any harm, there's still lots of footwork and changing directions involved.
The goal is to stay tight to the slip line, it's ok if it slightly grazes you and you want it low enough that you have to stay a bit low. Henry below is right, it doesn't matter that much. Be concerned about what happens in sparring, this is just a tool.
Never had it explained that well before! Thank you, love the cross line. I'm a pretty good copy cat like your style, can't wait to see the results I get! Thanks again
Ohhh wow that's pretty awesome! I only use one string, to practice going forwards and backwards, but this opens up more opportunities. Thanks for the upload.
This is a great drill! We have tonnes of drills like this and some of my students have come up with their own drills. This is great stuff and I will be checking out everything else you have. The only thing I have negative is that I have to be very careful how I say "Four Way Ducking Drill"! Nice job guys. Coach Tobywan
Id have to agree with Aaron, would be great to see you in action wiether it be sparring or a bout. Keep them coming, hands down some of the best instructional videos I have ever come across.
This is way too much fun and I set it up in my yard so my neighbors think I'm a kook lmao who cares i love this workout, hard to call it work when it's so much fun . I'm going to keep it up until I'm as good or close to you JT , awesome video , also I used 2 exercise bands and 4 bungee cords lol whatever works right 😋.
very nice and it looks more effective than a slip bag because of the constant movement and angles. thats the great thing about boxing, so manny gyms and trainers have so manny techniques and trainging styles everywhere u go but there are also lots of bad coaches and trainers as well but not you youre good nice work
wicked, I have only done a bit of mma/wrestling and i think there is a lot of opportunity to slip or duck punches go in for the take down. If I were you I would work this drill and mix it up with double leg shots. Let me know what you think.
@buffmedic01 Thanks, my pleasure. Just so I know, what would you consider the main differences between traditional muay thai and dutch kickboxing, is it more related to rules and regulations or style?
@nightride18 It's not about the exact age but about the probability of success at each age, I would say that after 21 your chances drop big time, for every year younger than that your chances increase exponentially.
NICE MOVEMENT BRO THANKS FOR POSTING THAT VIDEO UP BECAUSE NEW TRAINERS AS MYSELF THAT WANTS TO KEEP LEARNING MORE AND MORE ABOUT BOXING...GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND!!
I've been getting in shape and training with your videos, and but remembered I got this one on a playlist. Damn cannot believe I forgot it. Gonna add it to my technical workouts starting today!!!

Very smart use of a simple, easily achievable setup. Good, responsible boxing advice. Great stuff!
i love the slip line. i do it everyday when i go to the gym. everything starts at the feet.
Thank you from saving me the time to do one of these videos. I see a lot of people square up as the weave (opening up their defense to body attacks and upper cuts and only having one side (lt or right) punch option. This is the best video I have seen for technique with the most offensive options.

+The Corner Boxing Club thanks for commenting!
yes, I have a couple videos on how I use the slip bag, check them out
Woah, this is a good idea :)
Builds endurance, speed, reflexes, and it makes you sweat!
Even though I train in a different martial arts style, I think that this will be a great workout and drill!
Thanks so much for the idea! :D
this guy is good. thanks for sharing your knowledge bruv
@nightride18 There's no reason you can't be a great fighter, the formula is very straightforward, putting in the work is the hard part. I have more info at my blog, the link is in the description of the video above. Peace.

The best videos never die! The importance of the bases ... Thank you for an unbeatable video
its a great question, and a question asked so much I wrote a post on it here at my blog - precisionstriking dot ca "am I too old to box"
look it up and let me know what you think
Big fan of u and the sport
This guy would mess people up quick.

So this video is where everything started! Huge fan from Colombia South America!!
Gracias hermano! yo empiezo antes este video, here is a super old one - ua-cam.com/video/lqqo9KzOaao/v-deo.html
So this is where is started! Wish I had known about this channel back then.
That's a very insightful comment and very smart, gotta mix up your patterns in all aspects including slipping, thx.
You have absolutely beautiful footwork. I train traditional muay thai but fight much more dutch kickboxing style so new footwork is always appreciated. Keep it up man.
@JustinThoj thanks bro, check out the blog as well. link in the vid description.
Thanks JT. Your clips are highly informative.
this vid was awesome! thanks for sharing. most people never understand how important slipping and working defense truly is to boxing. i can only hope that one day i will be able to move as good as you. thanks again for posting.
yes, as long as you can tie it to something and not get much slack, the slack is annoying with a droop in the middle.
I used to have this problem and had to improvise, tie it to anything you can, a pipe or something on the wall. It doesn't have to be a perfect criss cross. Worst case scenario you can always tape the wraps to the wall, you just need good tape and a wall you don't mind getting dirty.
that's wicked news. Check out my most recent videos on sparring advice and first fight advice, they might be helpful.
thats amazing, respect. and no easy task. stay in touch.
Great drill. You make it look effortless. I wish you made a video on the steps and how to move so fluidly. As a boxer my movements are, as my coach puts it, robotic. So the challenge for me is just how to move smoothly around the ring and not so stagnant.
you're keeping your jaw closed up tight and breathing out with every punch - that's why "sshhh" sound are coming out
yes, you don't absolutely have to have the slip line to do this, just the intent to work hard and the fundamentals of movement for ducking/footwork.
Hey bud, are you the southpaw in blue? Nice fight, you look like a good aggressive little boxer, fast hands and nice counter-punching. One of my trainers use this 4 way drill all the time. :)
Man, if I could hug you I would. This is a great way of training, valuable to any martial artist. Thank you!
his voice has become really deep at 2.37 great vid btw

thats awesome, thanks. Yea man don't let all that skill and talent go to waste. A guy training since 5 years old has a lot to offer.
exactly!

Awesome drill. I will use this 2nite. Your coaching methods r second to none
Love this video. I never get sick of watching it.

wicked, I have only done a bit of mma/wrestling and i think there is a lot of opportunity to slip or duck punches go in for the take down. If I were you I would work this drill and mix it up with double leg shots. Let me know what you think.

@JustinThoj thanks man, I really liked Ricky Hatton, i wish he would have had one more fight after Pacquiao just so he could go out feeling better.
great video. I set up a four way slip rope and needed a workout routine to practice on it
I love your speed and 180 turns man. I work on the one way drill. I'll attempt the 4 way drill. Very fluid my man
Brilliant video. Great post.
Looks extremely sharp and affective. I seen a lot of professionals use this drill. I can only imagine what it can do for my defensive. technique.
One of the best instruction for this drill. thank u from Palestine
@buffmedic01 I've seen Baukaw, i know what you mean. I will check out Saki, thanks for the insight.
@monsterboy1985 nice! i appreciate your feedback.
