I've been using the G7 and I have no regrets. The kit lens has surprised me. With that said I do have the 25mm F1.4., which is awesome. I've enjoyed photography again, I would recommend the G7 without reservations.
is there noticable evf lag?
+linus sak (LinusB2) , in 60fps mode it's barely perceptible.
+BrainDesmo barley noticeable? never heard perceptible
+linus sak (LinusB2)
per·cep·ti·blepərˈseptəb(ə)l/adjectiveadjective: perceptible(especially of a slight movement or change of state) able to be seen or noticed.
+BrainDesmo ah okey so like making a fast twist with the camera will make the lag noticeable?
-Using G7 through my phone is incredible, you can autofocus, change ISO and filters, take pictures, etc. from your phone so I don't have to step all the way to the G7 in order to modify a setting.
I went with the g7. I love it so far! The a6300 would have had me sold but I wanted a fully articulating touch screen. Maybe The Gh5 will have amazing auto focus Like the canon 80d. Then I will get that.
+wyo russ iF THE A6300 had a fully articulating touch screen .... it would have destroyed everybody
agreed!
+wyo russ After shooting with Panasonic you'll find the Canon image incredibly soft. I did some Beta testing on the G-6, which was and still is one of the best cameras I've ever shot on, including high end cinema cameras costing 10x more. The G7 seems to have the same mojo as the g6, though I haven't got my hands on one yet ,Thanks Panasonic!!! still waiting!!!The new Sony rx10iii has an incredible feature set, I've never thought I would take a second glance at a camera with a built in lens, but that camera is crazy good. 1' Sensor, which is a bit smaller than m4/3rds, or equivalent to s16mm film cam, but with the 24-600 lens, you wont have any issue getting a shallow dof when needed. The real gem is it shoots 960fps in 1080p. Pretty incredible for a 1,400 camera.
Totally agree. I had GH4 but believing or not I prefer my G6. something technically is so right with that camera.
how are the photo capabilities
No mention of the serious overheating problem with the a6300. That's just irresponsible man. You should update your review.
I use the g7 for my channel and I have to say I love the camera! The vast amount of lens options is incredible, and a few days ago I completely soaked the camera in the rain while recording (in the video called "New Christmas Music??") and it's fine! I'm so glad that I bought it!
👍🏼 I've been looking at used versions of these 2 cameras, and your video really helps me decide, despite slight price differences used. Thanks for mentioning the rolling shutter jello effect, too. Thanks!!!
Love all your videos....congrats 200K subs. You deserve a lot more for putting out great well thought out videos.
This is the video which I was searching about for 2 months! Thanks bro.
Really helpful :) and its great to see you reach 200,000 subs :) you deserve more
nice to see you here too!😋
nice to see you here too!😋
Another great video Waj. You really do awesome work with all your reviews.
Very well video info!!! Thank you for making a nice explanatory simple fun video!!! Good job!!
Thanks for the review! i just bought the G7 and after a week i couldnt be happier. Such a good value!
Waj! Looking great my man! No weird feilings, but you are realy getting in shape?!
Nice video as always, relevant information, but in a compact form. Been having my eye on that G7 for a while, like the colors beter but the Sony does seem a bit sharper..
Keep it up, almost 200k! Deserve it!
This channel is so underrated, keep it up waj
Thanks for the info on the turbo lense. This was very informative. Good work sir 👍
Thank you for a very clear and to the point video.
Hey Waj, great video! I was wondering how the lens turbo adapter performs in terms of unwanted glare and lens flare. I see some glare and softness in the shots where you're talking directly to the camera; is this a side-effect of using the adapter? Thank you for your help!
Great vid. Thx. If the best of both cameras would be incorporated into one, especially the controls of the G7, that would work for me. I work with the Sony Nex 7 and the Sony a6000. Both get the job done, but I hope Sony is watching, you make so many good points.
This is a great video and review, thx! Do you have any thoughts on which ND filter(s) is good for the g7 and other micro 4 3 cams? thx!
Thanks for the review!
I already bought the G7 and pretty happy with it for recording and the price!
That extra adaptor you mentioned, is it needed?
Any recommendations on a lens as an upgrade?
Cheers!
Sony is NOT a budget camera....
Sony is a OVERHEAT camera for sure. stay away from SONY camera and PHONE, buy SONY TV and HIFI only.
thank you. shit is $1,000.
Broooooooooo😭😭😭😭😭😭 I legit get so upset when I see UA-camrs come at us with the "best budget cameras" caption and I'm seeing Sony. Stop playing with meee fgs😭😭😭😭
Good video man! A few things not mentioned that I think are worth noting is that the a6300 uses the whole sensor so there is no pixel binning. But most important is that it's taking a 6K Image and down-scaling it 4K. Funny when you zoomed in to 200% the a6300 looks way cleaner so you're going to get a much sharper image.
Also, the a6300 is weather sealed and the G7 is not. That can be a huge deal breaker, I was in New York shooting with my a6300 and it started to rain and wasn't a big deal. The G7 in fact would have to be stored away and kept safe. And last thing if you use a Speedbooster with the a6300 the rolling shutter is almost non existent, pretty amazing if you ask me.
Armando Ferreira What speed booster brand do you recommend for a Sony 6300?
Please reply.
Metabones
I have a Sony 6300 with carl ziess glass 24-70mm f.4 I like it a lot but , I missed a lot of the full frame look.
Is this adapter going to help me to recover that full frame look ?
Thanks a lot ,
Jorge.
+Armando Ferreira get a nx1 6.5k sensor 28mp 15fps the sony is a knockoff nx1 samsung camera and its a 265 file so it saves space
seedz11 Nah, I prefer Sony way more versatile. If you look at my UA-cam channel I shoot with A7SII, A7RII and a6300 and all matches perfectly. I've also shot with FS5 and FS7 and having that type of options is awesome. Also Samsung is killing their camera lineup so investing in a dead ecosystem is not a good idea.
great review thanku!
Awesome comparison Waj! Nice channel too :)
Man..it really help me a lot if you have another review about the turbo lens especially with its autofocusing and sharpness on canon and nikon lenses
Nice video! But what about A6300 and A7S ii. When to choose each? And does it worth the extra money?
i have a G7 and i'm very happy with it, really good camera for stills and video
very good comparison video. please more of it :)
Hello MW Technology. Great review. The sharpness of the Sony A6300 is amazing...By your experience will the Fujifilm X-T20 be a good 4k camera alternative to these 2 (Sony and Panasonic)?.
I just can't decide because the 4K videos I saw on youtube using the Fuji X-T20 seem so bad, I don't know but it seems they lack sharpness and vivid colors...
Hi, i was looking for a camera to record video, i found panasonic vx870 or x920, but these are really different from each other.. I've also found fz1000 panasonic but it's really big and zoom isn't smooth with video. Finally i found also G7, which seems to be good, but there are video time limitation.. I record sometimes video on racetrack, and also i record live music in small club with external mic; not necessary 4k but at least 1080p @50/60, thanks
g7= $600 with kit lens
a6300= $998 no lens
might as well get the gh4 if u r gonna buy the a6300
lol That is very true. Im saving money for the g7
it depends on the camera u want i prefer a traditional feeling camera i dont like the way sony a6300 is set up but if that is u then go for it to me that was just as important as specs
Find the cheapest price for the camera online. Even if you think the site is unreliable. I went to bestbuy to get my camera and their price was $700. I got it down to $500 when they price match it.
Ryan Ross Body only is $500 for G7 right now.
a6300 is far better than the gh4 in practice. only problem is overheating for wich u can get a fast card and an external battery. Autofocus is supercool in a6300 and 120fps full hd. its bang for the buck.
Thanks, great video.
please tell us a bit more about the lens turbo adaptor on the a6300 !!! :)
would you recommend this camera for everyday vlogging and videoing cars that are 90% of the time moving?
Sorry, but I think, that the picture of the G7 is MUCH sharper at ISO 6400 (second 5:42). The 'International Edition' on the bottom right corner is sharper.
wasnt fully focused. look at the star wars ship comparison... without a doubt the sony is WAY sharper
Don't try to convince yourself that the G7 is better. Is not. The G7 is not bad though.. you just pay less and you get less. Simple.
Great comparison. You should have mentioned that the A6300 does 4K 30p in crop mode - this is a major drawback for the A6300. Even most cellphone cameras can do 4K 30p without cropping the FOV.
Could you do a comparison between the A6300 and GH4 for both stills and 4K video?
About that rolling shutter jelo effect thingy, the sony a 6300 has a setting that could change that for your info
Hi, how about overheating? This bugs me the most tho, was thinking about getting the a6300 but it seems to be plagued with overheating issues.
I have both of these. I love both of them. I do have a massive problem with the controls on the G7. The controls dials are labeled so poorly I have to use a magnifying glass to see if I'm 4k photo mode or continuous, etc.
Any huge difference in video quality between this two ?
2 awesome cameras for sure, i dont think you would be left wanting much if you chose either, for me the way to go is buy the G7 leaving more budget for good lenses and if i have a situation or a scene requiring better low light performance i would rent a sony a7 series for a day if needed to complete the shoot
I have both cameras, it is the last day I can return the a6300. Watching this video for the 5th time..... lol.
Which camera did you keep? I currently have the G7 and I'm debating returning it for the a6300. I'm not impressed with it's limited frame rates for slow motion and I'm not sold on the stills
Hey man what'd you end up doing?
***** I just kept the G7 and purchased a prime 25mm / 1.7 lens for beautiful stills and low light. Are you debating between the two?
I also kept the G7 and do not regret in general. Well, I miss a wonderful low-light at higher ISO performance of the Sony. Also, the still image quality could be better with the kit 14-140 lens. Anyway, I mainly use it for 4k video and the quality of it is top-notch
The 4K is gorgeous for such a small camera
Nice review!
Hi great review! I decided to go with the a6300, but quick question. I know when using the a7s II I have to shoot at a minimum of ISO 1600 when shooting S-Log, does this apply to the 6300 also? Thanks!
Can the Sony connect to a tv monitor while recording? I understand that the Lumix will go black screen on a monitor while recording.
Great Review . Very helpful information . For the cost, it's kind of a no brainer so I bought both. 4K video, as well as photos, are Outstanding on both. Use the G7 for most everyday events when it gets darker switch over to the A-6300 for the low light benefits. Best of both worlds so, win win !
I am having a huge issue with my A6300 recording having this hum sound. I have watched tons of videos that tell you how to adjust the camera to get rid of this hum but I am not sure what the issue might be. I have a ring light and 3 fovitec box lights for my recording set up. If you might know how to fix this, please let me know.
I'm really considering the a6300 but a fully articulating screen would have been really nice to have. The touch screen isn't really a big deal to be
Top review best one I've seen in awhile
Hey Waj! I'm on the verge of purchasing the G7 coupled with the Speed booster you feature on this video. I read in a few places that the Zhongyi Lens Turbo II m4/3 has some Chromatic aberration and blurring on the edges of the video. Your test footage proves that it is not the case, but I was wondering if there is any truth these claims at all?
can you tell me which one I can use my Lavalier Microphone with if possible?
Great Video!
does the zhonghyi adapter keep the autofocus and the eletronic zoom of the camera?
dude! you lost weight! right on brother👍👍👍
whats the battery life on these cameras? Also these cameras that do 4k i have to assume to get the best video you need a good card. How expensive are the cards. I only came across this video by chance, not really looking at a 4K camera but for one that takes great pics and HD video with time lapse function, preferably under $1000. Any suggestions please?
if both of these cameras were the same price, which one should i pick? great video btw
Sir choose one panasonic fz300 or fz80.. for videos and why?
Is this camera good for vlogger with cinematic shot? I am looking for a camera with at least 50fps, flipped out screen, and microphone jack. Can I grade the color at 1080 60fps?
Would you recommend the G7 over the canon 70d as far as shooting videos go?
What if it came down to price? I can get the G7 for about $350 less then the A6300. I'll mainly be using this camera for vlogs and as a webcam for live streaming.
What about the new Panasonic GX80? I don't know if I should buy the G7 or GX80
depends, with the gx80 you are sacrificing the articulating screen and the microphone input, but you are gaining in body image stablization
The lens turbo II adapter will allow any lens that fit emount?
Does G7 do 5-axis 4K video stabilization same as in GX80? Lack of image stabilization in A6300 is a bit disappointing. Touch screen for picking things and faces to focus on while shooting video is important to me. A6300 having no touchscreen seems to mean that choosing what to focus on while filming 4K is going to be an issue. Having had a terrible experience with auto-focus in my Panasonic GH3 in the last 4 years, I definitely am looking forward to better auto focus and touchscreen quick stable choosing what I want to focus on in 4K support. Being able to shoot at lower bitrate is an advantage as I would like to upload the 4K video directly to youtube without compressing on a PC each time. Samsung seems to have been the only company encoding to H265 lower bitrate in 4K, I wish they would all offer the option for H265 encoding for 4K@30fps at around or below 40mbit/second.
I agree with many of your observations. Have experienced v similar things. Enormously impressed with the h.265 on a Samsung NX500 I bought for fun (and also the autofocus). Wish more cameras had it, and that NLEs supported it. Enormously impressed with certain m43 lenses such as the 42.5mm Pan-Leica macro. Bunch of good ones, really. Wish the bodies were more capable. Takes me far too long to get up the gh4 for the casual often one man band interviews I like to do when traveling & going to tradeshows and educational events. GH4 (and perhaps GH3) based setups produce beautiful results, but are really better for small teams. It's sad the crowd bashed Sony for years for having touchscreens. They got their wish. Well, I'd love to see them back, too! The C300 Mark II has been the best & easiest to use camera I've rented by far, but the file sizes are far too enormous. 5 axis is also too brilliant to leave off of new cameras. Maybe GX80 GX85 offers some hope? Perhaps AR7III will be great
Two other things it'd be nice to see on other cameras... FS5's dynamic lcd based iris/nd filter. And RX1R IIs LCD based low pass filter. These are really next gen filters and make life so much easier.
Sorry. I meant the 45mm Elmarit macro, not 42.5. Must have been thinking of the Nocticron, which is also a tremendously nice lens, although easily swapped for a Batis on the Sony side. Got my macro cheap from Japan. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/651734-REG/Panasonic_H_ES045_Leica_DG_Macro_Elmarit_45mm.html I can't find a macro lens like this one, honestly, from any other brand. The new Sony 90mm macro has muted colors, whereas the PanLeica has nothing but rich saturation and pop. m43 May have a small sensor, but I can't have love for it when some of the lenses are so completely (and apparently uniquely) stellar.
+docstowatch I read online that GX80/GX85 has awesome 5-axis dual sensor+lens optical image stabilization, that makes it look like a steadicam when filmed handheld. But GX80/GX85 has no microphone mini jack input which makes it impossible for me to use, I need to use my Sennheiser MKE400 shotgun microphone for good audio quality. And Panasonic 4K filesize is I think at minimum 100mbit/s, which means I'd have to upload files that are 5x larger than my current 20mbit/s MP4 1080p@30fps mode in my Panasonic GH3. I wish H265 codec was available in other cameras than Samsung NX1/NX500, and I wish UA-cam would allow people to upload H265 format directly from the cameras to UA-cam. I would expect youtube to support H265 upload eventually. I guess the Samsung NX1/NX500 weren't popular enough for UA-cam to pay attention and support that H265 codec for uploads yet. Makes no sense for me to re-encode all the NX1 files to double the size H264 just to be able to upload the 4K videos to youtube. I might be waiting for Panasonic GH5, but that may be a long wait, it might not be available before 2017 according to what someone is writing in a forum online. I hope GH5 and other cameras soon support H265 encoding and UA-cam support it. I also wish cameras had automatic intro and transparent watermark and basic cut/join editing in-camera, and like the Panasonic VX991 camcorder with that second camera facing the interviewer, would be nice with a switch to switch to second or third smartphone/wireless camera and not support the other camera angles only as picture-in-picture. I also wish cameras had built-in multiple wireless microphone support, be it bluetooth or some better long distance RF with cheap lapel microphones that should be available and audio-volumes easily adjustable in real-time in the camera.
Nice review. As you say both a great cameras for 4k video. As for best budget camera it would have to be the G7 purely based on costing alone. I managed to pick up the G7 with 14-42 kit lens for £257 when Panasonic run their cashback offer (around US $370). I'm sure the A6300 will be an amazing selling camera for Sony but I really hope that Sony bring out some quality reasonably priced lenses. At the moment their lens selection for E mount is either way to expensive or not very good when you compare what you can buy with the micro 4/3 system.
can you do the Panasonic g7 vs the lg g4 with the cinema 4k camera app?
I've had my G7 since May 2016 and I love the camera to death. I use the G7 along with my GH4 and I find myself using the G7 more often than the GH4 when it comes to run and gun situations.
so with the speed booster doest it still able to auto focus?
Everyone is saying to just get the G7 for video, but that full frame look you get with lens turbo on the a6000/6300 has really got me interested
Would love to know more about the lens turbo adaptor on the a6300
I have the g7 if i buy a zhongyi lens turbo do I need to then use a nikon lense with it to get the wider field of view?
hi, can you use a kit lens with the Zhongyi adapter?
G7 for starters I guess. Can you make a video to compare G7 with sony QX1.
Hi.. Based on some youtube review on panasonic G7, am very pleased with it and planning to buy, request you to give your opinion on the same, my usage predominantly 60% video and rest images. And if you are also recommending G7, should i go with the kit lens 14-42 or 14-140 (video recording should be sharp), please guide...Thanks
Damn those books. Definitely used them in school. Such nostalgia hahaha
what is the lens you used for this video, the kit lens 14-42?
Can I plug in a power cord so I don't need to change batteries, and an HDMI to computer for hours of filming?
The overheating problem of the 6300 it's on all the resolutions or only when filming in 4k?
hey on did you shoot all of the videos in the video with the nikon lens and if you did what was it called
wich is best at loww light?
with de commlite i get the full frame result?
Does that adapter fit well on the Sony a6300? Or is it loose? And I have a Jupiter 3 that is an M- mount. They make an M42 mount to Sony version would that work?
can u pl tell me about the adopter to use canon ef mount lenes on g7 ?
Keep in mind the G7 has a HDR mode and a variable Highlight/Shadow S-curve dial, so to say that the G7 is inferior regarding the handling of highlights isn't really true, IMO.
which camera did you use?
G7 or 70D?
so what about the a5100 vs the g7 ? I also like the rx100 iii . I know its point and shoot but I like it too.All are pretty close in price. I cant decide.
All these people willing to pay almost double for not double the quality lol. Sony is great, better than g7 no doubt but not 600 US Dollars more
you can get one used for 750 bucks. It's the better deal imo, better low light, bigger sensor, 24 mp vs 16 mp, 120 fps vs only 60 fps, higher iso, great auto focus, recording in s-log2 and s-log3, weather sealed.
The difference in dynamic range is huge also huge.
Honestly i would get the g7 in a heartbeat but now i dont know anymore. I have sigma 18-35 and its actually cheaper for me to get the sony a6300 w mc-11 or pay $300CAD more for lumix g7 + speedbooster ultra.
And thats used price too!
how's the slow motion Sony a6300 120p 4k correct
What about 1080P video? Which one is sharpper? Thanks
congratulations for 200000 subs.
If it is my first youtube vlogging camera, would you recommend me to spend more for the sony a6300 or stick with the g7?
If you have the money, the a6300 is a good blogging camera but it has problems. The main reason I personally didn't purchase the a6300 is the lack of a fully articulating screen, so I wouldn't be able to see myself and the overheating issues with video. The only real pro is how lighweight the a6300 is, and that's a personal preference. Price to performance, G7 wins here in my opinion
Whats better?
Lumix g7 + sigma 18-35 + speedbooster ultra
Or
Sony a6300 + sigma 18-35 + mc-11
Cost doesnt matter because im buying them used. I have the sigma 18-35 already.
With the lumix g7 + speedbooster ultra its gonna cost me $1500CAD ($600 for g7 and $800 for speedbooster)
And
Sony a6300 + sigma mc-11 ($900 + $300)
Which one would you guys recommend?
ok I have used both camera. I own the g7. If your on a budget go with the g7 for sure, In terms of which is better they are pretty much the same its just about the features rather than quality.
Reason for the for g7:
* it has a fully articulating screen
* it does not overheat
* much better rolling shutter (not great but much better than the a6300)
* lenses are cheaper for micro four thirds systems
* with good lenses Its better for photography (In My Opinion)
* lighter and easier to carry around and use
* both cameras are good at low light up 6400 iso
Auto focus is not as bad as people say but it depends what you shoot and if you need it. (for me its pretty much ok)
Fantastic!! Thank you
Guys. I have the G7. Just go with it, don't hesitate. Trust me!
no.
Guys, trust me. I'm from the internet.
lmfaoo
Is G7 is a full frame 4k, ??
@@hemanthnaik4613 No. It's Micro 4/3 (In terms of sensor size: Full frame > APS-C > Micro 4/3).
What are the extension files that they produce?
Hmm, hard choice. I'm considering an iMax camera, what do you think?
hey , on amazon the G7 is 800 USD ,everyone says it's like 550USD , what's going on?
can you link the focal reducer for the g7
What about for Photography?
