I'm definitely going with the G7. I'm not vlogger, I'm digital filmmaker. Autofocus looks to be the strongest point for the M50.I'm much more likely to get the fastest manual glass I can adapt for work, The Panasonic Image looks to have more of what I need.
Can I just say I really appreciate the fact that most of the video is recorded using the cameras you're reviewing. Major buying factor for me is the camera's output. Thanks very much!

I would chose the Lumix G7 because the images are so great. Yes the auto focus isn’t so great but I would be using it for UA-cam videos and that means mostly staying in a certain spot plus a lot of things can be tweaked. Loved this video good job
I purchased the G7 this past summer and I have LOVED using it!! Paired with the 25m F1.7, I have been able to use the G7 for paid jobs and the footage has turned out really well!! Just like all of the other comments, yes the autofocus struggles sometimes hahahah :D I love the flip-out screen and 4k for such a cheap price makes it even more appealing for vloggers and filmmakers!! Love your vids btw!! :D :D :D
Fooled me too, and I have a G7, expected more out of the Canon... end of day, if you're struggling to identify which is which, then it doesn't really matter does it? Whoever would grade you on the pixels, probably isn't your audience. I get stuck with that, always wanting something "a little bit better" when in reality, I don't think the viewer really gives 2 shits. Except for the audio quality and the clarity of the images/video.
This is by far the best comparison video I've seen on any two cameras. I really like the "blind taste test" it helped quite a bit in my decision making process!
Here is a tip for YT-Vloggers - Use the GX-7 camera in manual mode and choose aperture for the appropiate field of depth within the range of moving-and non moving objects, make separate pics (and movie) for extreme close-ups. It works better in 99% of all indoor vlogging then having the auto-focus hunt forever. Better on battery life too. Just add more light so you can work with a smaller aperture.The M50 is twice the price of the LX7, but those of you with the LX7 and dont trust the AF anymore its worth trying out.

Agreed. I went from G7 to G85 to GH5 and I've been very pleased with my results. I don't seem to have some of the issues a lot of reviewers talk about. I wonder if it's because I didn't come from a Canon or Nikon background and I'm not trying to use m43 in exactly the same fashion as a full frame camera. In any case, if you've got bad video these days, it's the person shooting hitting their limits and not the camera.
@@htoddgriffin4787 The G7 is my first camera and I love it. I don't need autofocus, so I have no complaints about it. It has a sharper image than Canon cameras at 1080p, better than Canon cameras in low light, can adapt any lens, etc. The limitations of a camera make you get creative.
I have been using the Lumix g7 for about a year and absolutely love it! The auto focus is trash, but I never use that anyways since prime lens/speed boosters kinda take that feature away. I like the Lumix g7 w/ kit Lens over the m50. That is just my opinion. I have used both cameras and love both! I would like to win the Canon M50, I would love to have a dedicated talking cam and the dual pixel auto focus is what I am lacking in the G7!

I'm not planning to "Vlog" anytime soon, and i prefer to manual focus or touch to focus behind the camera and i like the color & the low light of the *Panasonic Lumix G7* and getting into micro4/3 ecosystem means i can upgrade easily to GH4,5,5s,6 or even bmpcc4k

I think I'd take the M50 given the choice, the G7 looked like it had higher top end footage but required more tweaking to get there. As I am a new filmmaker, it seems the M50 would suit my more basic needs. Great video by the way, seeing the side by side comparison throughout was awesome!
Canon M50 would be my choice! Coz' first, it's my dream camera since i started vlogging ang photography, 2nd the insane quick auto focus! That's dooope! If I ever win this, i could start accepting clients and eaen money and help my family for financial stuffs coz' I only borrow my friends camera if I have a client in wedding or debut and that sucks because i don't have my own camera. ❤📷

I started out with Canon, then switched to Nikon, then back to Canon when I discovered how well the auto focus works. Canon all the way now! Yes, I have a Canon M50 with a bunch of lenses. Great investment.
I use both the Panasonic G7 and G85 in all my videos. Panasonic is hard to beat in 4K in my opinion. The fact that the G7 came out years ago and is still a contender has got to say something.
Would you suggest the G85 over the G7 when it comes to videos and filmmaking? I'm coming from the Sony A6000, I've had it for over a year, and I've been torn between the two. If you have any knowledge about the GH4 too that would be great. I'm just a little bit above a beginner and I'm in desperate need of new camera.
_scwilliams totally! The g85 has in body stabilization which is great for filmmaking. But with that said it is more expensive. I started with the G7 and now use it as my second angle/ B camera. Both will produce near the same quality video just the G85 has the stabilization, so you would have decide if that’s important to you. Hope this helps 😎
I have had the G7 for years, but got a second hand Sony A6300 a few months ago. The G7 is now collecting dust. Man if you first get used to GOOD autofocus it is hard to go back to Pana's version of it..
@@daggad02 I would agree both Sony and Canon's autofocus is legit. However, I got use to not using auto focus and manually setup all my shots so its not important to me for what I do (mostly stationary shots). With that being said though, using manual focus with a fast lens like my 25mm f1.7 gets me in trouble sometimes. Just watching a few of my latest videos proves that lol

Got my M50 last week and lovin it. Didn't watch your video till today. But I did alot of research came down to the Canon M50 and Sony a6400. I went with M50 because of the price.

I doesn't agree completely with you when you say that the Lumix G7 is a less filmic than the M50 because I really think you can get that Holywood style cinematic film look using the G7. For anyone whose just not looking at this comment and feels to do the same I’d advise you to pay a extra $100 and get the G85, comes with a MUCH MUCH better lens and the additional feature with the G85 will have you holding on to it more than the G7

I would much rather prefer winning the M50. My main purpose would be for shooting a and b roll for reviews I make and i've had to deal with my smartphone for 2 years now. I want to save up for a real camera, but being a high school student, income is sparse. It would REALLY help me out, more than you can imagine.
Gizzy Games: When I was still a high school student, I bought myself the G7 by just saving up for a year ... Christmas money, birthday money, pocket money etc. goes a long way, if you don’t spend it (I also worked an on-demand student job for a couple of months). A good way to live life in general, by the way: you’re always able to save up. Always.
I think I would go for the m50. With the ef adapter I would get to use all of the Canon lenses. I took photo shop in high school for 3 years yes 3 years ( shout out to the Pentax k 1000 and Mr. Lanoue. ) and have been itching to get back into photography. Now that I have kids that want to start vlogging I figured now was the perfect time to get a camera. Stills for me and video for them. The m50 would be a win for all of us. Having 2 kids a wife and one income ( as a cook ) winning a camera would be a monster blessing. Thanks for the opportunity.
Panasonic Lumix G7. I am planning on making a lot of videos, that being said i have made a few with my phone and I loved it. I would finaly have a camera! :)
I preferred Can 1: color, definition, focus, shadows, contrast all look better to me. I was surprised that Cam 1 = LumixG7. Other reviewers also rave about the button, controls & layout. Great video.

@Digital Genius You obviously haven't seen the image that comes out from a 4:2:2 10-bit camera. Check out the GH5 for the best image quality. As for vlogging, I'd stick with the sony or canon cameras. The GH5 isn't practical for vlogging because the video clips have a much heavier file size because of its codec and bit rate
Great comparison. I found camera 1 consistently better, thinking it was the Canon. Then you did the autofocus comparison on HD and I was really impressed with the M50. Don't know why I'm watching this, though, I'm a Panasonic user but don't do video... Entertaining nonetheless!
I dont think there is a Log profile available for the G7... it hat cinelike d as a flat imageprofile but no V Log. V Log is only available for the GH5 / s and GH4 but it costs 99$ extra 🤷🏼♂️
If you buy the GH5 today it comes with V-log now, I believe. The Cinelike-D on the G7 is nowhere near like a log profile. I just shoot in "normal" and color grade from that. I've never gotten any good results from Cinelike. May just be me but I don't think so.

Panasonic definitely. I'd rather shoot in the Panasonic ECO system in the event I pick up a GH5. Then the G7 and the GH5 can share camera resources. Id use the G7 for Vlogging (in MF) too easy to set MF distance then just always leave my arm at the same distance 👍
1:42 the angle definitely plays a role and in both cases so far camera 1 has a better angle towards you with respect to the light. I like how you present them, very nice thanks.
Great presentation. Both seem like great cameras and it's interesting seeing the subtle differences between the two. Where one fails (marginally) the other fourishes (marginally). I love Lumix but dam that auto focus really sucks.
i would choose the G7 because it has a lot of buttons outside the camera, i don't like going trough the menu :/ but the m50 has great autofocus tho no lie :P

@@cammac66 actually got the g85. its really not bad if you put AF on +1 or 2. I've been loving it so far. Also in editing it's easy enough to find in focus shots.
Lumix G7 is my choice, I love the colors of it. It would replace my Nikon d5300 (see I am familiar with not that great of a focus :D) I would do videoclips with it.
Wolfshoot Productions 23 I went from d80 to d7000, used d600 and d750, love the high iso of d750 and 24mm f1.4, moved to olympus ep5, amazed by 5 axis, got a gf7 for small travel cam, now using g85, love that 5 axis and panasonic high iso jpeg compared to olympus and d7000. I don’t make videos but panasonic video autofocus not great, can set to +2 sensitivity which helps.
I have a G7 and a Fuji X-T20. Never mind the AF, you need a LOT of light for it to output quality video, whereas an APS-C like the X-T20 works well with just a dim ceiling light.

I would definitely go for the M50. I would make travel videos and start a UA-cam channel for vlogs. I didn't start it until now, because I actually haven't enough money for the gear I want. So it would be great if I would win :)
you should start from basic cameras first like your phone and maybe an editing app called kinemaster or a software called hitfilm express, once you have some experience with that you will be more worthy of the m50. (just use skill share)

I would much rather prefer winning the M50. My main purpose would be for shooting a and b roll for reviews I make and i've had to deal with my smartphone for 2 years now. I want to save up for a real camera, but being a high school student, income is sparse. It would REALLY help me out, more than you can imagine.
Gizzy Games: When I was still a high school student, I bought myself the G7 by just saving up for a year ... Christmas money, birthday money, pocket money etc. goes a long way, if you don’t spend it (I also worked an on-demand student job for a couple of months).
A good way to live life in general, by the way: you’re always able to save up. Always.
Lumix G7's seem great! I'm majoring in film production, so I feel like I'd be taking it around with me everywhere.

I think I would go for the m50. With the ef adapter I would get to use all of the Canon lenses. I took photo shop in high school for 3 years yes 3 years ( shout out to the Pentax k 1000 and Mr. Lanoue. ) and have been itching to get back into photography. Now that I have kids that want to start vlogging I figured now was the perfect time to get a camera. Stills for me and video for them. The m50 would be a win for all of us. Having 2 kids a wife and one income ( as a cook ) winning a camera would be a monster blessing. Thanks for the opportunity.

I preferred Can 1: color, definition, focus, shadows, contrast all look better to me. I was surprised that Cam 1 = LumixG7. Other reviewers also rave about the button, controls & layout. Great video.

@Digital Genius You obviously haven't seen the image that comes out from a 4:2:2 10-bit camera. Check out the GH5 for the best image quality. As for vlogging, I'd stick with the sony or canon cameras. The GH5 isn't practical for vlogging because the video clips have a much heavier file size because of its codec and bit rate

I found camera 1 consistently better, thinking it was the Canon. Then you did the autofocus comparison on HD and I was really impressed with the M50.

I dont think there is a Log profile available for the G7... it hat cinelike d as a flat imageprofile but no V Log. V Log is only available for the GH5 / s and GH4 but it costs 99$ extra 🤷🏼♂️
If you buy the GH5 today it comes with V-log now, I believe. The Cinelike-D on the G7 is nowhere near like a log profile. I just shoot in "normal" and color grade from that. I've never gotten any good results from Cinelike. May just be me but I don't think so.

I normaly shoot cinelike d with my G81 and just add some contrast and saturation in post. But I am switching to the GH5 with VLog now. Looking forward to see the difference 👍🏻

Panasonic definitely. I'd rather shoot in the Panasonic ECO system in the event I pick up a GH5. Then the G7 and the GH5 can share camera resources. Id use the G7 for Vlogging (in MF) too easy to set MF distance then just always leave my arm at the same distance 👍
The AF isnt great but it's good enough for vlogging. Or get the 12mm rokinon 2.0 it's so wide there's no depth of field for vlogging at about 3.5/4.0
1:42 the angle definitely plays a role and in both cases so far camera 1 has a better angle towards you with respect to the light. I like how you present them, very nice thanks.

I love Lumix but dam that auto focus really sucks.

Interesting, outside the focus of camera 1 seamed to be better. But in the end inside, it felt like you switched the two cameras. 🙄
i would choose the G7 because it has a lot of buttons outside the camera, i don't like going trough the menu :/ but the m50 has great autofocus tho no lie :P

@@cammac66 actually got the g85. its really not bad if you put AF on +1 or 2. I've been loving it so far. Also in editing it's easy enough to find in focus shots.

Lumix G7 is my choice, I love the colors of it. It would replace my Nikon d5300 (see I am familiar with not that great of a focus :D) I would do videoclips with it.
Wolfshoot Productions 23 I went from d80 to d7000, used d600 and d750, love the high iso of d750 and 24mm f1.4, moved to olympus ep5, amazed by 5 axis, got a gf7 for small travel cam, now using g85, love that 5 axis and panasonic high iso jpeg compared to olympus and d7000. I don’t make videos but panasonic video autofocus not great, can set to +2 sensitivity which helps.
@@PTYC933 I mainly use it for video. The bad autofocus wouldnt be that big of a problem from the G7, because I prefer manual focusing.
The G7 has better dynamic range and lowlight; great for filmmakers
I have a G7 and a Fuji X-T20.
Never mind the AF, you need a LOT of light for it to output quality video, whereas an APS-C like the X-T20 works well with just a dim ceiling light.
Definitely the M50. I prefer Canon overall since I'm used to it. Be good for vlogging!

I would definitely go for the M50. I would make travel videos and start a UA-cam channel for vlogs. I didn't start it until now, because I actually haven't enough money for the gear I want. So it would be great if I would win :)
you should start from basic cameras first like your phone and maybe an editing app called kinemaster or a software called hitfilm express, once you have some experience with that you will be more worthy of the m50. (just use skill share)
