Thanks a lot, through this I learned more, my growls still have a bit of voice in them making me sound like machine head, but with practice that won't be a problem for much longer
man this is actually very hard.... i've been practing for many weeks and my progress is minimal. I can actually "feel" the area in my vocal cords that are confortable and painless, but just cant control the voice to stay there while growling
Its all about muscles and muscle memory. I started screaming for myself two years ago and I noticed that I improved steadily if I dont overdo it and do it regularly. Its like exercise. Soon, you be able to actively trigger the muscles that enable the screams, it just takes time for your body to build up those muscles!
I've been trying to get this but i dont understand how everyone has the ability to growl so long. Mine are short and take a full lung. Not giving up, just not convinced ill get there. Thanks for the tips🤘😎

so like i have been practicing for a year at this now. and i have been working a kitchen at a convience store. though i have been working on my lows though. what i am getting at... was that someone asked if our drains were ok. so i take that as a win. good infor and thanks for sharing.
The fact I only know how to false cord in 3 ways 2 of which I randomly created and I learned it in 2 or so minutes so lil while back

Great job! I've heard from other youtubers that for example Will Ramos and Ben Duerr use a kind of "low fry" for their growl, maybe I've been going at this all wrong?
the thing that i don't understand is how loud should be my growls especially for the mikael akerfeldt type of growls
One thing I learned is if you don't lead with your diaphragm and do all the work with the throat, I go into a hacking cough! Leading with the diaphragm takes pressure off the throat and vocal cords.

May sound a bit silly, but how do you achieve that base sound? I struggle to get the rumbling sound on sighs and would love to know how to get to thay starting point :)

I had the same issue a while back when I was starting off, but don't worry It's completely normal when your death growling, because of how much air is coming out while growling. I suggest you just continue practicing and your body will start getting used to it.
@@jeffthemurdercat2995I get that with any kind of scream and my throat tickles a tiny bit somtimes and after a few minutes of practice my screams sound worse (im a complete beginner is this normal)?
@@yggnggv3519 Yeah it's completely normal since metal screaming strains your vocal cords quite a bit, and after doing it for a while you'll need to give your voice a rest. So I suggest you continue pushing and your voice will start to get used to all that metal screaming and hurt less.
Also try and take it easy at first so you don't hurt your voice 👍👍

Lol thanks so much dude, been following the guide since the video began but im lowkey struggling on the shaping your mouth bit, perhaps because i cant perceive the way you describe how to shape my mouth for example when you went through the “Keep your lips closed but Jaw open” and the “Soft pallet where your tip dips down”
Oh, I'm supposed to stretch it out. And the irritation is supposed to happen.
Had that problem too, you need a good warm up to help you understand how to engage only your false cords in the distortion, warm up for like 10 minutes making white noises with your false cords without pushing, you can just make the noises trying to go up and down changing your mouth shape or can speak random words it doesn't matter. Do that and try again trying to mantain the same sensation you had during your warm up. Hope I've been useful
You are not supposed to feel "irritation" but your vocal cords sometimes dry up fast when you do vocals, if you feel irritation you are engaging your true vocal cords too in the distortion
