I never listened to Lorna Shore until Will became the lead vocalist. I’m not anywhere near the top at knowing who has the best vocal roars but he’s gotta be one of the best out there atm.
I remember in high school I was into Metal and I would talk about wanting to be in a band, but my dad made sure that wouldn’t happen. When I was in a band, he took my bass up for bad grades and when I got it back, it was fucked. I was then kicked from the band and Shit sucked. Korn, Slayer, and Job For A Cowboy we’re some of the bands who influenced me into playing Bass. Then I got into vocals and JFAC, TAIM, CG, and IDW were some influential bands that help develop my vocal technique and to this very day I still wish I had made it into a band and playing on stage. Writing lyrics was always fun too 😁
Same reason I learned to scream. Figured my dad wouldn't rip out my vocal chords. I did manage to make it on stage a few times and now my dad listens to our music. Was great to be able to say look dad I am supposed to do music.
@@Roasty420 you can look everywhere. bass players are always in high demand. honestly if vocals is what you want to do I'd just start a band yourself. I don't see ads looking for vocalists often
i relate to this a lot of how i personally got into screaming. i also just threw myself into screaming without any techniques or nothing just trying it out until i figured out where to bring the sound from, of course all after i got into that kind of music (lamb of god was big for me and was my starting point as well, then i got into deathcore), and i'm happy that i can just scream while driving home from work or in the shower without my parents telling me not to
Will is such an inspiration. He's one of the vocalist that helped me to actually start practicing a lot! Every time I hear his vocals I get jealous and it makes me want to get better! Shout out to him for being awesome!!
It seems that some singers are self-taught to learn on their own, like Will, like Tatiana from Jinjer but not everyone is like that, I don't think it's safe and advisable to do just like him, I think for those who don't have this skill naturally it's better to find for a teacher trained to not put his vocal prey at risk, get injured and lose his voice.
True, I was self taught only cause I had bottle and bottle of water and I did research on how I could Perfect my craft. My days in high school were amazing! 😁
Yeha, I recently had my first lesson and finding that sweet spot for false chord is kinda difficult if you never did it before - and easily roughed up my throat because of all the amateur mistakes; overprojecting, breathing wrong, and most importantly I thought about it while doing it. Just make sure, when you do a scream, that your throat doesn't hurt (like you yelled at someone) afterwards. A fry feeling, yeha but noo hurt at all.
I am self taught how to fry scream and false chord scream. It is more like a discovery on how to do it and when it gets really uncomfortable, it means I am doing it wrong so I stop and drink plenty water then practice again the next day.
Reminds me of Davey Havok from AFI who damaged his vocal chords and had to have surgery because he's been using the wrong technique of screaming for their music. I've been trying to scream for eight years now and still can't sound good.
I learned throat bass through beatbox and can confirm will's statement about it being similar, feels like throat bass uses the same parts as false chord screams without tonality. but now i have problems doing my highs ^^ n yeah sounds nice n full in the shower :D
I share a lot with Will. I grew up with classic rock and played it and had someone introduce me to metal and I slowly became more of a fan and started playing it and I’ve been practicing screaming in the car for a couple of years now.
Such a humble man. And kudos to you will for staying sober on stage. Your truly giving the fans the show they want. Keep up the awesome work. Btw for me, I learned to scream to lamb of God as well. But not in the shower, it was always in the car after a bad day at work. Great stress relief.

I've been noticing patterns as I listen to this type of music. If the vocalist is a death screamer, there's an 80-90% chance he's probably one of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet And I *live* for it xD
Tuvan throat singing developed through practicality... the steppe is a vast open land mass and the singing projects far louder and farther than shouting... Marco Polo said the Mongolian people sang like birds which is true
Came across Lorna Shore while scrolling through metal tok and instantly was hooked will seems so sweet and his vocals are extraordinary definitely definitely need to hit up a Lorna Show
Eventually teaching yourself through going along with albums you start to realize what hurts and what won’t last. I used to put suicide silences bludgeoned to death on repeat every day for 2 months until I got the lows right. Been screaming in my car for years and after the first year figured out what doesn’t hurt and then explored what my voice can really do.
Insane that In Dying Arms tour was his first tour/first shows perfoming in front of people,he literally blew my mind when my old band played with A Wake In Providence at Burro Bar in Jacksonville and seemed like he'd been touring and killing it for years and that performance then was one of the best I've ever seen from a vocalist.
I taught myself to scream when I was 13-18. I got pretty good. But then I started testosterone (I am trans). Ever since the first few months of t, I lost my ability to scream. It makes me so angry. I’m trying to retrain my voice. But it’s a lot harder. I’m not good at all yet but I’m praying I can get back to it. But this dude is brutal and I love his vocals! I’m glad he was self taught too.

I am 14 years older than my sister so we were never really super close. But close at the same time lol I've been a metal head most my life. (I don't know how because my family, especially my parents, do NOT like metal AT ALL. My mom likes a song or 2 from Nirvana and Metallica, but my dads a die hard Christian so they were band for the most part in my home lol) It got to a point where they could no longer control what I listen too and hated that I'd drive my sister around or watch her while blasting metal music. She also hated it and thought I was a complete weirdo... until she turned 10 or 11. She is a full on metal head in a Christian private school and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! lol She's 13 and practices screaming more than she talks normally lol She's got some serious talent! And then I introduced her to Will, and she is absolutely obsessed with him. It's pushed her to actually take her screaming more serious.
big fan of will's work, though there is one discussion to be had in the community which he touched upon and it made me think. why is there such a universal dislike for cupping the mic? I mean he said it in a polite way but the consensus in the metal community is extremely (and imo laughably) negative towards this "style" of performing. why would I care whether it's "easy" or not or rather: why would I care how somebody else does his vocals. people call it "cheating" (although I would disagree because it's still the performance rather than a backing track but that's besides the point) when it's just a part of a vocalist's choice of performing. music is not a sport, I couldn't care less if your screams are fry, guttural, etc. they just have to fit the song. you can have your preferences but the outright hatred that cupping gets just doesn't make a lot of sense to me
Because those back vents on a unidirectional mic are for noise cancellation and weird "phase" shit that's over my head but still important to the microphone functioning properly. That said: This ain't opera and harsh, masked up noise is a musical element in modern music so "do what thou will" or something.
Cupping the mic effects the way that it works. Mics are designed a certain way so covering up the area that is made to pick up audio funnels where the input can come from and messes up how it sounds. There's a lot more to it than that but that is a simple way to explain it
Depends on the mic. With a dirt cheap mic you might need to cup the mic for some edge, but with a decent rig with a little distortion and some reverb (not even super heavy) you can get a massive sound without cupping the mic as long as youre projecting your voice well. Dirt cheap house mics is probably where cupping comes from anyway. Think about it, a little dive bar/club in the hardcore or rap scenes back in the 80s.. this mic is will not be taking well to the type of edge you want out of it so you need to give it some help. So not only are there advances in technique, but equipment as well.
The cupping the mic debate is honestly pointless in this day and age. I can tell vocalists until I'm blue in the face why it's "bad" and they're still gonna do it. Now a days I just mix them accordingly and move on with my life.
bro i feel like he would be fun to hangout with and probably skate with idk why i just get those vibes off him but i fucking love lorna shore someone i dont even know showed me them and i was not let down

And I never thought I'd hear myself say that about deathcore. My fave band is bring me the horizon, and I like as far bk as metal core with them, but they're early stuff is too much for me. But I love watching Ramos while he screams, it seems so effortless. Perfection. I honestly think he's possessed by several demons, but he had a deal with them for his advantage 🤣🤣
I can admit having tried it just now that cupping your hands and speaking in a demonic voice sounds better than without it lol. I have to go record it and see the difference recorded to real. In real it was honestly unreal, crazy good.
I couldn't get down with the Cannibal corpse guttural growl back in the 90s, but latched onto Converge, and the contoversial style of Bannon's vocals, because it sat in the music aesthetically... then this guy comes along and makes true articulated art of it!
I love that one of my favorite vocalists inspirations was another one of my favorite bands. Lamb of God is awesome. Chris Adler is to drums what Ramos is to vocals.

However, I fail to see how that’s a limitation, to joining another band..
Just do it! Don't let your dreams go to waste, it might seem like not a big deal right now but really do what makes you happy. You will regret if you don't
I love how Will talks about his Puerto Rican upbringing, my family and friends don't understand what I'm listening to but they still love me lol.
The best singer in the metal scene right now. And his discipline and knowledge are crazy. Arriba Boricua! 🇵🇷
No
I think CJ from Thy Art is better
Mera q tu me dices q el es boricua??? No joda⁉️⁉️😱😱
Mitch Lucker made me want to scream💯💯🤘🏼 RIP MITCH We love u man
Ugh Rest in Power Trevor!!!! 🖤🤘 video hits different today...
Most humble person in metal industry.
Yea, I did the shower screaming in highschool. Parents where always banging on the door, telling me to shut up, asking if I was possessed 😂 they honestly killed the vibe.
Will ramos is my favorite vocalist. I was there when he was still doing covers and in a wake in providence. I knew he was goin places
The voice this guy has is such a rare thing, only a few have thise insane, intense, extreme voice like him. You have it or you try and work for it or you just dont have it. I wish I had it lol
What i always think about, is there could be the next potential Will Ramos (or an even more talented vocalist) out there right now, but they're probably not a death metal fan lol. Probably never tried to growl and don't know they have the vocal cords to do it
Seems like a really chill and cool dude that hust loves what he does. Like you could talk about music for hours with him.
I love this guy's energy. He seems genuinely down to earth
I never listened to Lorna Shore until Will became the lead vocalist. I’m not anywhere near the top at knowing who has the best vocal roars but he’s gotta be one of the best out there atm.
Same! He is so likable.
@@caseymccorkle4968 Lucky. Maybe someday I can find a band in need of a vocalist or bass player lmao 😂
@@Roasty420 I hope so bud.
@@caseymccorkle4968 Maybe I can look on Reddit or some shit.
@@Roasty420 you can look everywhere. bass players are always in high demand. honestly if vocals is what you want to do I'd just start a band yourself. I don't see ads looking for vocalists often
i relate to this a lot of how i personally got into screaming. i also just threw myself into screaming without any techniques or nothing just trying it out until i figured out where to bring the sound from, of course all after i got into that kind of music (lamb of god was big for me and was my starting point as well, then i got into deathcore), and i'm happy that i can just scream while driving home from work or in the shower without my parents telling me not to
Will is such an awesome and talented guy. I can't wait for the new Lorna Shore album:)
Will is such an inspiration. He's one of the vocalist that helped me to actually start practicing a lot! Every time I hear his vocals I get jealous and it makes me want to get better! Shout out to him for being awesome!!
I love this. I just started listening to lorna shore and his vocals are fucking sick!
@@adamazri928 Look for a singing teacher specializing in this, you will notice the evolution of years in months or less.
not a deathcore fan but would definately say that Im the only actual metalhead in my family and I get the struggle of people not getting your vibe
Dude, Will is just so wholesome and awesome. He is just hangging like your average metal fan
I beat box while showering and I agree, the acoustics are mucho bueno 🤘
Lol
I learned throat bass through beatbox and can confirm will's statement about it being similar, feels like throat bass uses the same parts as false chord screams without tonality. but now i have problems doing my highs ^^ n yeah sounds nice n full in the shower :D
I share a lot with Will. I grew up with classic rock and played it and had someone introduce me to metal and I slowly became more of a fan and started playing it and I’ve been practicing screaming in the car for a couple of years now.
Little does this guy know that now arguably he’s a top 3 in vocals easily and you can’t disagree without sounding dense
Such a humble man. And kudos to you will for staying sober on stage. Your truly giving the fans the show they want. Keep up the awesome work. Btw for me, I learned to scream to lamb of God as well. But not in the shower, it was always in the car after a bad day at work. Great stress relief.
I’m not so much into this genre Of metal but this dudes seams super down to earth.
I'm a 42 year old drummer in the Metal Band Dethcard. My oldest sons 16 and wanting to be a Metal Vocalist.
This was a good watch, and Randy Blythe is one of the best!
Looking forward to seeing you guys at Aura Fest! 🤘🤘
Damn, what a cool ass dude! Those vocals are so visceral it's bizarre to know that he was just messing around... and those curls are unreal!
I've been noticing patterns as I listen to this type of music. If the vocalist is a death screamer, there's an 80-90% chance he's probably one of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet
And I *live* for it xD
Will is just next level. he seems like the coolest dude to be friends with too.
Is so rare to say this about an artist, but this dude is so real! And he’s such an amazing artist because he’s so real. So much respect for this guy
Great vocalist
Hard to not love will, he's so chill, authentic and just enjoyable to watch both on and off the mic
Tuvan throat singing developed through practicality... the steppe is a vast open land mass and the singing projects far louder and farther than shouting... Marco Polo said the Mongolian people sang like birds which is true
Came across Lorna Shore while scrolling through metal tok and instantly was hooked will seems so sweet and his vocals are extraordinary definitely definitely need to hit up a Lorna Show
I swear every metal vocalist I've ever met/heard is the nicest dude in earth
Eventually teaching yourself through going along with albums you start to realize what hurts and what won’t last. I used to put suicide silences bludgeoned to death on repeat every day for 2 months until I got the lows right. Been screaming in my car for years and after the first year figured out what doesn’t hurt and then explored what my voice can really do.
I do the same thing Will! Turan Throat screaming is my main warm up and I do it no matter what!
You guys need to bring Kyo from Dir en Grey in this series.
Hahahahahah bro!!! 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🔥🔥🔥! My parents were the same with me when they herd what type of music i was listening too. They would say “u dont like salsa? Merengue!?” Im like no Dad! Hahahaha. Started out with metallica and GnR and a friend lended me a cassette that had Cannibal Corpse on one side and Napalm Death on the other! 🤣🤣🤣 that was it for me, i kept on going to heavier stuff man back in 93-94. Good to see a PR 🇵🇷 As a extreme metal front man! Pig every holiday! 💯 true! 🤣
PR here too lol I fucking love metal
When he said Lamb of God as one of the bands that inspire him, i knew his screams definitely has that Randy vibe to it.
Just discovered Lorna Shore and damn this guy is impressive on the mic 🎤. He seems super chill too 👏 👌 👍
big fan of will's work, though there is one discussion to be had in the community which he touched upon and it made me think. why is there such a universal dislike for cupping the mic?
That said:
This ain't opera and harsh, masked up noise is a musical element in modern music so "do what thou will" or something.
Because cupping the mic sucks. Heaps of people rely way to much on it. It fits no songs.
Now a days I just mix them accordingly and move on with my life.
bro i feel like he would be fun to hangout with and probably skate with idk why i just get those vibes off him but i fucking love lorna shore someone i dont even know showed me them and i was not let down
Watching this again after Trevor's untimely demise it hits different.
What happened?
@@helpmereach100ksubswithnov4 Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder committed suicide earlier this year. Definitely broke my heart, they were one of my favorite Metal bands and I was getting back into their music just a few weeks before he committed suicide too. 🥲💔
bro what
lamb of god and trivium are my muse my low are ok mids for day highs are stupid hard this video has been really helpful
Es un loco!!! No hay otro en el mundo con ese potencial!! El rey gutural🤘
Will has become a huge inspiration to me and to hear that Randy, probably my biggest influence hands down, is one of his really brings hope. I need to buckle down and get better
I love Will's energy. It's infectious.
I had the pleasure of meeting Will at Trader Joe's one day. He is the sweetest person ever and very down to earth. YOU'RE AWESOME WILL!
Iv practiced in my car back and forth to work where it's only me. It's a muscle like anything else and takes time to build it up.
How many other people almost cried while listening to the lyrics to the pain remains trilogy?
Very down to earth guy. Insanely talented.
This dude is incredible. Glad I found Lorna Shore (thanks Justin). Rock on!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻⚰️
Yeah that first listen of Lamb of God was wild, I remember looking at my best friend with probably the most confused look on my face 😂 now I scream too lol
Same! Lol a lot of my old passwords had a lamb of good reference, even burn the priest(before they became lamb of god) references lol.
my current fave band and singer . love their sound !
A mix of enunciation and monster vocals is 👌
I love him. He's an amazing artist, and he's an amazing person in real life. I support him for the rest of his music career. Thank you Will Ramos!
He sounds like a demon and he’s so cute and funny!! Not what I expected at all.
He reminds me of fergal Sharkey a little,🤣🤣 but way cuter. I don't like deathcore, but this guys vocals fascinate me. You can hear 3 screams (demons) at the same way time sometimes, I'm sure of it, plus he can actually sing alswell. The cover of sleep tokens hypnotize is better than the original. Such a talent.
This man is a freaking legend now in the metal world.
I couldn't get down with the Cannibal corpse guttural growl back in the 90s, but latched onto Converge, and the contoversial style of Bannon's vocals, because it sat in the music aesthetically... then this guy comes along and makes true articulated art of it!
There you have it. I too, am I single cupper. Lol. Seriously, this was cool to see. This guy is just incredible and inspires me.
I love that one of my favorite vocalists inspirations was another one of my favorite bands. Lamb of God is awesome. Chris Adler is to drums what Ramos is to vocals.
I've always known that Tuvan throat singing and false cord vocals were related, but I've literally never heard anyone in the metal community talk about it until now. I can throat sing really well but I can't scream at all. Hopefully I can make the connection!
I allways have a feeling that this throat singing and barking like a big dog has the same feeling in my throat and from this barking I can go to the screams, check the tutorial from Austin dickey with the pit bull(barking) technique and you will know what I mean I hope.
Tyler from Traitors had made a few mentions, on of his favorite warm ups too! No wonder these two dudes kill it so hard!!
I didn't know deathcore was a thing until 5th grade (06). I listened to slipknot, a7x, Mudvayne..we went to a local show and Job For A Cowboy and Dr. Acula was the openers. My God that changed my life
Only Medal fan in his family, and now one of famous breakdown, absolute crazy vocals, and best (in my opinion) medal singer ever
Dude what lol
