Cutting up a car is far less painful that a stint with Jenny Craig
Could probably do with both but I like cakes 😂
Also I run a pair of bosch 2200cc injectors spraying methanol between my compressor and inlet(no intercooler like yourself) and both of them running 50% duty it seemed to reduce intake temps from 170c to 130c at 50psi of boost
Great work broomy loving the vid
Awesome as Always.. Great content.Looking forward to the Dyno testing,
Great episode keen to see the testing side of things
1180kg isn't bad. Mines 1435kg with me in it but I make a fair chunk more power and torque than yours at the moment. On our setup eith just an upstream methanol jet on our 2jz we see anywhere between 20-50°C drop in IAT on a 34°C day. But we bring it on when we are at 12psi. But we are also mechanical fuel injected.
Ps great content Broomy keep up the good work mate
Can't wait to see this thing run again 😎
The bonnet weighs heaps. Not sure on specs, but it's way too heavy. Replaced mine with a vented bonnet. It didn't do much for IAT's and it's not any lighter, but you should be able to come up with a solution if you're ok with making molds or chopping up OEM parts ;) Good weight to be saved there. Definitely drill holes in strategic places. If you Google search "holes porsche lightning" you'll notice some alternative methods for saving weight 50 grams at a time.
Stock bonnet is 19lb with hinges. Fibreglass ones are much heavier. Have weighed a friends vented fibreglass bonnet and it’s over 40lb. A $3000+ dry carbon one is about 10lbs bare. So by the time you add hinges, you’re almost at the same weight as the factory bonnet. The front hanging panels on the fd are super light.
The only way to go fast is to get the weight down, pretty sure your making enough power but the only difference is the top cars of our class are 2100lbs.....Think we need to go on a diet too,we're at nearly 2500lbs too.....
Well, I won't say what we are 🤭
Is there any weight to be saved on the headlights ?
There are no headlights.
Might be worth converting the power steering rack to manual since its not a street car, I watched a video on a guy doing it to a circuit car and safed 4.7kg which works out to almost 10.5lbs
There is no pump or lines and the rack has already been internally modified to manual
Was it to make room for the missing two rotors?
What stall speed are you running on the converter? I have almost identical setup to you butt m using a c4. Full bridge semi pp, GTX4709R with tial 1.45 turbine housing
Converter setup is always a bit of a shoot in the dark with new setups, especially if it’s not just some off the shelf LS1 with an 88mm turbo and they do them all the time. Essentially the converter shop will ask you weight of car, tyre size, max rpm, rpm for peak power, rpm for peak torque and what the peak torque and power numbers are. Here is where the trouble is… how can you know what that will be without first running a complete setup on the dyno, and how do you dyno the car without a converter haha essentially I worked with a converter shop (SDE Converters) who have some experience with rotaries, and also got some torque numbers from similar setups from dyno videos etc. the most important thing is then to work with a converter shop who will understand it’s not always an exact science and offer you a free restall of the converter after you’ve raced it (if needed). You’ll also have to give them some guidance on if you want it on the looser side or tighter side. Loose will be great for Street and quick on the transbrake, tight will mph much better with far less slip but will likely require nitrous to help at start line. In terms of ‘rpm’ stall speed, I’d say mine is 6000ish ball park. Not sure, custom converters aren’t spec’d that way.
@@BroomysGarage cheers, yeh I have filled in a form for Hughes and hoping they come back with a reply. Gave them as much info as I could including some dyno numbers that will be roughly the same as what my car will do, albeit slightly different engine combo.
What weight is your battery, thats always a good weight saving, my lithium one weighs 1.3kg and spins over my 4 cylinder with no issue, I do run an alternator but cant remember if you do, you can then put it right next to the starter motor as they are so small, this reduces wire weight and any amp drops while cranking, thanks for you answer on the funnel on the last episode, I bought one. Also on the overall weight saving, my drag car now weighs 1430lbs so i know how to get a car light, thats a real car i drive on the road
Heavy D1600 AGM 16v XS power one.
Google says that battery is 46lb (if it was in fact the same one). Antigravity website says a 35/Q85 Lithium if suitable for an RX-7, only 16lb #winning
@@AlistairLattimore for drag racing I wouldn’t be running a 16lb battery, we just put a 16v battery in another drag car that only weighs about 6lbs and that doesn’t have an alternator and has electric fuel pump and electric water pump
Definitely grab some lightweight wheels
Top work Broomy !!!👍🍻 Shed the pounds just remember 28g to a ounce and 455g to a pound love high school drug maths🤣
2.2pounds to 1 kilo.
You must have had a good dealer if you were buying drugs by the kg 😂. The conversion is easy enough, but no one talks the metric language in drag racing so it means nothing to anyone. All the class rules, even in australia, are in lbs and safety equipment compliance is dictated in lbs and mph. Perth is the only track in the country where the time boards actually display kph (which is a total PITA bevause you have to have your phone out every pass and do the conversion to understand ‘how fast’ someone went bevause 289kmh means jack shit but 180mph is relatable. I assume they did it maybe to attract and connect with fresh spectators new entrants to the sport.
@@BroomysGarage Yep, it is almost basic rules of the sport and that is what we go by... but then some smart people say no we only race to the 1,000 foot.
Billet wheels. Titanium nuts and bolts
I got the rears, just need some fronts. I did do a weight comparison originally and there wasn’t much in a set of front runners at all, and being a standard tight arse rotary owner, I went the cheaper option 😂😂
@@BroomysGarage titanium bolts work out to about $1000 per kilo weight saving
Starts to cost more the lighter you go… but where you take it from can lead to better results, like taking it from the top lowers the CG
The rx4 barra has had a shitload of lypo suction to win on prom night 😂
How many stones is that? Is this video factual ❤❤❤
2600lbs is approx 1200kgs
For closer numbers, 2.2lb per kilo, so around 1181kg
Who’s “we”, Broomy?
