- Its Piston Vs Rotor in this epic showdown, where tyre size is the limiting factor, and horsepower doesnt always win the show. Brisbane Jamboree has been one of the most iconic events worldwide for decades now, and here are some highlights from the ST289 Street 289 class.
Rules are fairly simple, rotary engines, or 4/6 cyl only, tyre size no bigger than a 28x9, and little to no chassis modifications (no back half, no 3/4 chassis, no full chassis).
August 5th and 6th 2023 saw Australias fastest 2JZ, Barras, Rotaries, K24's, and more battle it out for the coverted billet J trophy.
Here is some of what we saw in the pits and trackside. - Авто та транспорт
Street 289 is a true small tyre racing class that has been hotly contested by rotaries and small size piston engines for decades now. Untubbed stock chassis, big turbos and plenty of boost = some incredible racing
You left out needing a big set of balls to steer one aswell 😅
289 is where its at!
Well it is on the thumbnail 😂
24.5/8 is the biggest slick tyre I can get under my stock wheel arches of my Rx3 true street 😮
Great coverage 👏👏👏
Great vid. Love the short interviews showcaseing drivers

nice one Broomy !! from Brad
Thanks bud 👍🏻👍🏻
Thx for massive efforts to get these shots, is this something you'd consider doing with the RX-7 one day?
Brisbane Jamboree is the event of events. It’s also a 40 hour return trip to drive there towing a car. Sydney and now Adelaide are about 18 hour return trips. I enjoy racing, but racing isn’t life for me. I enjoy being a fan or media person as much or even more than racing sometimes. Having to take several days of annual leave just to go racing is a tough ask, as I already spend many Saturdays preparing the car and then Sundays going racing, so I’d prefer to use my annual leave time to exclusively spend with my family on holiday. Will it happen one day ? Once the car is sorted, adelaide and Sydney are likely. Brisbane probably not as I enjoy the social aspect of the event more as a fan than probably as a racer.
@BroomysGarage it's certainly a different vibe that far north, when it comes to Drag Racing. 👍👍
Haha ol mate got caught playing games on the tree
Une bonne boite un 2jz adieu amigo
Awesome as Always Amazing cars...Hows your project going?
The RX4 I’m looking for some oem electronics that are hard to find. But I’d really like to get my hands on them so I can put that part all to bed and finish it completely. Too many jobs on that car are 95% done, and now want to finish some.
The RX7, engine components will be back from South Coast Rotary shortly. Engine will then be assembled, in the car and ready to dyno. Hopefully on dyno some time early September.
Cool exciting times ahead.. Will you be showing the engine build, Hope so :) ..Its always the last 5% of stuff that takes the longest... I know that I'm in the UK,but what electrics are you after, maybe I can source some stuff here ...@@BroomysGarage
