My biggest concern about this truck when Nathan bought it was that the plenum plate and gasket were bad. That is the most common flaw with the Magnum engines. It creates a crazy vacuum leak that sucks oil from the engine valley. The transmission slipping didn't surprise me but it made me think that the bands hadn't been adjusted... ever. Also the slow downshifting sounded like a TV cable adjustment issue. Adjust it too tight and it won't shift at wide open throttle. Adjust it too loose and it won't down shift like it should.
Over all 2nd Gen Dodge trucks are great because if the maintenance is done on them they will last forever. It's just those few things you have to be on top of. This truck has all the makings to be a great hot rod truck. Drop a Airgap intake manifold on it, reprogram the ecu for that, and toss in a shift it and this truck will fly.
Interested in the Airgape you are talking about for mine, could you tell me a little more about what to do is there a kit for this or what? Mines a Straight gear from factory. Thanks Alot.
So did you fix all of the problems in the front end that had the mechanic saying it is unsafe to drive?
I believe they did. I remember they said they fixed all the stuff that the mechanic said was essential. He said that whole front end was safety which he's right. These trucks are known for death wobble when the front end parts wear out. Even the 2wd can suffer from it if you let the steering components wear out.

Right there... "With Toby's recommendation we fixed all the critical issues with all 3 trucks." That whole front suspension was a critical issue.
at 10:46 in this video Andre says that the front steering issues will need to be addressed as they did not fix it all the way.
Ummm 20+ year old trucks are usually sold AS IS. He did mention they will need to be addressed.
Perhaps in the previous video they said it was fix, but it clearly wasn't, you made that point.
My favorite bodystyle of these trucks. I'm wanting to build one of these but as a 1 ton dually 4x4 Cummins with new or remanufactured parts. I've got a almost complete interior. Just godda find the rest of the truck
I'm still waiting on the bill for the updates I'm having done on a 1988 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. Should be a sweet ride with fuel injection addition and suspension rebuild.
I haven't own a dodge since the early 90s when I own a 1987 dodge Daytona. Awesome car for audiophiles.

I used to own one of these. Never had a problem with mine accept the clear coat peeling.

@@rabbi7933 I may have just been lucky on the one I got. Mine was purchased from
the cities Solid Waste Division. The truck looked like hell but was mechanically solid with no leaks.
@Izzyrodthegod The one I had was purchased from the city. I don't believe it had high miles. The maintenance logs showed no major repairs just some bushings being changed. The logs also indicated regular maintenance inspections and fluid changes. Hope that helps.

Cool truck-I’d bid on it but wouldn’t want to do the front end work when I got it. The mechanic’s comments on it were pretty bad.

Just Bought one Runs like a Top but mines a Straight Drive im having it completely Redone Paint and all to make it a Perfect truck, got it fr 3200
And its in better shape than this one inside and out. But i like yours also, they only made these 1 year o1
Off Road edition that is and its got limited Slip fron and Back so when one wheels stuck other kicks in , kinda like Positive Traction really.
People are on crack for the inflated value of used vehicles as of lately. Terrible buyers market, but an excellent sellers market. (Just sold my 19 ram 1500 limited for 3k less than I paid for it two years ago.)

The Dodge Ram 1500 Sport headlights are about $150 apiece, and yes - they lift up the visibility and the value of this truck!
@@TFLtruck you overpaid for them then as they are the same for all 2nd gen dodge trucks. I got way way better aftermarket hid headlights for that price
Let’s not forget the dash carpet, dual exhaust, oxidized paint, and the cracked mirror added at least 150hp, so that’s gotta be worth something! Ha!!!

Wanna trade for my 03 dodge ram 1500? Mine is exactly the same except newer. Beast . I tow loads 3k more than dodge recommends. My camper is about 6k but weighed in at 9& 1/2 k. Only had to have the tranny rebuilt when i bought it ..reverse was out and yes that was b4 o ever towed . These trucks are like a top ive put my dodge thru hell amd back and she wont stop . Sat for a year and all i had to do was tighten my flywheel . Ford can kiss my ass i will never stop buying these dodges
Dude ... do you ever think about the things you say... you just described how you abuse the truck by overloading it by thousands of pounds and you put it through hell and back like that's a good thing to do, along with the questionable work that's been done to the truck since it sat for a year and for some reason the flywheel needed to be tightened up... that was like telling someone hey I treat my truck like shit you wanna trade.
These offroad packages come with factory 4:10 gears and a trussed dana 44 front axle 💪

I owned the same truck year & package. What a big heap of shit that thing was. Only saving grace was no major engine issues but everything else. Garbage garbage garbage.
