Too bad it's hard to find one that isn't rusted and rotted out and is a 4x4 V8. If maintained then I'm sure they will last long but considering it's a Chrysler product there are few and far between.
Bought new and still driving my 1994 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie SLT \5.9l Magnum, a little body work, lift kit and big wheels, repaint, and a few trinkets from LMC Truck, looks good as new. As far as Dodge being Strong today? Um, they sold out to FIAT around 2007, so now it's just called a Ram Truck..build quality suffered and luxury items turned to plastic or reduced, except for that honking large touch screen on the new Rams...useless. What makes the new "Rebel" a Rebel is a lot of plastic add-ons. If buying new I would just get the standard model and save tens of thousands by buying the add-ons aftermarket. Fixing up an old Dodge Ram is well worth the money over buying new. There is a lot of aftermarket support for these trucks. btw, buy 96 and up...ODB1 in 1994 is not supported in most shops these days, so you may need to buy an old Snap-on MT2500 scanner while there are still any left on ebay (~$200)

Bought my '97 1500 5.2 with 132k miles 3 years ago for $300. It sat for 16 years before I bought it. Gave it a tune up, new fuel pump and fresh gas and it fired right up. I put about $800-$1000 into it and it's my daily driver now. I love it.

My mom bought a retired construction guys ‘95 1500 2dr club cab and it’s a tank. Even with minimal maintenance done to it as my mom didn’t wrench on it until I could recently being old enough to work for parts etc. however this thing is a tank clocking in at 410k miles. Love these trucks and would own one over anything new from nostalgia.
I have a 2000 ram 1500 with the 318. That thing pulled a fully loaded 9900 pound dump trailer with it only starting to over heat after the second trip
I just wish they would have made the manual with a 5.9 not much of a difference between the 5.2 in terms of power and torque but just to say its a 5.9🤣.
They did make the 2500 model with a 5.9 manual though. not the 1500s
I have a 1998 ram with a 318 in it great truck
Chrysler is really darn good at making sleek, cool, and flashy cars. Now only if they can make them last...
This truck is over 20 years old and still running strong
I have a 2006 Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.7L Hemi V8 quad cab, I get about 13.2 MPG in city 15.6 on highway averaging about 15 MPG combined because it’s a 4x4 and my truck is well maintained with only 115,000 miles.
This generation for me the ram 1500 looks nice in single cabs while the 2500 being only quad cabs.
you don't know what you're talking about. the 72-93 dodge trucks were far better than the 94-01.
Too bad it's hard to find one that isn't rusted and rotted out and is a 4x4 V8. If maintained then I'm sure they will last long but considering it's a Chrysler product there are few and far between.
Best truck ever! I've owned 5 of them since 94.
Nice "Acceleration test"... you literally were babysitting the gas pedal. Slower than other cars zooming by you to accelerate to 40. 👎
Just bought my first 2nd Gen Ram, 5.2 Magnum, Red, 6ft bed. Looks pretty much exactly like this one!
That truck looks like shit
The movie twister at a 1994 model with a 2500 three-quarter ton you can tell by the rims in the bolt pattern
250 on mine and no engine problems but the trans is starting to go out but no biggy take it out slap a new one in and it could be 600k before it gives' up
It's my favorite pickup. I'll have another one next few years.
Trying to get one
Wasn’t it 94-03? You’ve said 01 in multiple videos...
Yeah
I'm currently going to look at a 2000 model Sunday. I've never had or been around many of these but always thought they look cool
I bought a 99 with transmission issues from a guy for 600 a few years ago. With the band gone and it slipping out of drive and over drive it still managed to towe a car 4 hours. The transmission got maintenanced and it is still running great today. Hope you got yours, they are great
I bet you bought it too. They are strong and last forever if you take care of them. I hope your enjoying yours like I do mine. I love it!
@@michellemetcalfe5180 didn't end up getting it. Turned out it had alot wrong, didn't even get to see it. Another truck came along
They based the front end off of kw that is why they had such a cool front ....
Saw a 96 for sale with 180k for $3k on craigs. Manual trans. Hmm 🤔
I have 97 love it
Super insight review!
I have a beautiful, 1998 2 Wheel Dr. club cab, 1500…. I have owned it for around 10 years I purchased it for the same reason you did. I thought the truck in the movie twister was about as cool as cool gets…! Especially with the Studebaker front end…!
I do not ever see me getting rid of my truck unless something horrible were to happen to it but I don’t see that happening …
My top favorite rams 1.second gen. 2.first gen. 3. 2008 model
I love these trucks
Wrong wheels . Try another model
Lowkey have a 99 same color
Thanks for reviewing this gem
iv had over 10 of these trucks and aside from keeping up the service on the trans they were tough and very dependable. ran good. decent gas milage for what it is. towed and packed a load good. very strong engines that can stand alot of abuse and neglect. the dashes are weak. good strong truck and looks badass!!!
I got a 2002 ram 2500 gas and automatic Original transmission and engine and I got 130,000 miles on mine
Runs great aswell
Bought my '97 1500 5.2 with 132k miles 3 years ago for $300. It sat for 16 years before I bought it. Gave it a tune up, new fuel pump and fresh gas and it fired right up. I put about $800-$1000 into it and it's my daily driver now. I love it.
coolest design for trucks in the 90s!
My personal favorite alongside the '99 Silverado and Sierra. I'm a big time GM guy, but I love Dodge and other Mopars too.
