Went from Galaxy S9 to S23 ultra. This is an insane jump!
I might upgrade from a s10 to a s23 ultra

There is no shutter lag. It's just set to take a picture when you lift your finger off. This can be changed through camera assistant.
Battery life in the S23U has definitely improved greatly over the S22U but I bought the ZeroLemon 10,000 mAh battery case for the Galaxy S23U. Now, the S23U battery never dies. What sucks is now my S23U has complete protection but my pockets aren't big enough for this size battery case. My pockets would need to be deep and wide as my mother's purse for it to fit into.
S21 plus to s23 ultra here. Gotta admit the battery and efficiency are fantastic
Ok
My S21+ is still going strong so I won't switch for a while, but if they keep going strong for the next couple years I may have to consider a galaxy s24 or s25 ultra, instead of switching to a pixel like I've been considering
@@FinneasJedidiah I still use Note 9 and torn between 14 pro max and S23U (been Samsung user for 8 years tho). Wished to ask how's the battery performance on your s21+ after these years? My biggest concern is whether Samsung phones still get laggy after a year or couple of years?
@@SampsfaN my s21u not even a lag with 120hz rock solid. Just need to upgrade because the battery life is night and day.
I purchased the Samsung S23 Ultra 2 days ago, still trying to work it all out. My previous phone....it was a Samsung 9....yep that's right...a Samsung 9....an old one. It lasted for 5 years so it did the job.
Went from an S8 I'd been using for almost 6 years to an S23 ultra and I can't believe how long the battery lasts and how good the cameras are. Wow!
Same! It's been 6 years with my S8. About to get the S23 Ultra today!
A telephone call; Any good??
Going from a 9plus to a 23 ultra! Thought I was the only one with an "old" phone
same, I have my s8 for 6 years, I want to buy the s23 cuz it's looking good. There is a big diff between s23 normal and s23 ultra ? it's worth the price ?
@@gabrielripw0lf293 the s23 ultra is better in a lot of points but if you: prefer smaller phones, don't have a "professional use" of cameras, and don't need a stylus, go for the s23 (+)
Great video as always! Thank you for being consistent in your reviews so I can be confident in my purchases!
I've had an S23 Ultra for almost a year and I didn't know I could change the screen resolution.. It was on 1080p. 1440 is absolutely stunning. What a gorgeous screen
Dum dum
The little camera snap sounds when showing photos taken with the phone is new and is a nice touch :)
I read your comment first and still only noticed it in the video after 15th photo or so :). Great touch indeed
I maybe thought the same when I first noticed it, but I don't like it. Especially while he's talking.
Can you switch it off? Don't know about Samsung & the Koreans but, in the early days, all the Japanese phones had to have a snap sound to their cameras, to stop the perverts from taking "up skirt" snapshots on the subway. A sort of 'bakachon' sound.
I need that wallpaper. Who makes it?
I've had this phone for two weeks now and it's a juggernaut. The performance is elite and the battery is out of this world. Samsung went deep in their bag with this S23 Ultra.
Its the same as the S22 and S23 lmao deep in the bag😂😂😂

Came back to this video after all this time just to say that my family surprised me and bought me the s23 ultra for new years. I have been using the s10 plus for almost 3 years now, and im just blown away by this phone. The difference is astronomical for me.
The best example i found was, imagine making yourself a salad with a plastic knife(the 10s plus) and now im using a Japanese steel chef's knife.
This phone is so much fun.
You do a great job with the description of you videos.
Well done!
Went from a note 8 to S23 Ultra. Huge upgrade for me. The battery life is crazy.
I did too. Gigantic upgrade from Note 8. My note 8 was doing fine until I ran out of space, and a 1/4 of the screen sensor malfunctioned. Otherwise it was keeping up.
How much is the SOT? I am hesitating between IP 14 plus and 23 Ultra but thanks to this video is no question...
Still on S6 ..........ahhhhhhhhh

@Abdullah Hasan woah and you still have space 🤯
My S23 Ultra arrived yesterday. The amount of detail the 200MP photos resolve blew my mind. It is so much better than my S21 Ultra and Fold 4.
I'm upgrading from a S9+/Note 9 and am excited about the camera too! Especially the better low light performance.
@@LEXXIUS Would you mind giving away your s9+ when you get your new device. It would really help with my schoolwork as my a50 is badly damaged and battery life is so bad now
Is ut definitely worth the upgrade over the s21 ultra? I'm on the fence, not sure what to do
@Eóin McCann if you're from UK u get £410 when you trade in your old S21 Ultra 256GB , and there is £150 off if you pre-order S23 Ultra 512GB which would cost £1399 but it's only £1249. Minus £410 equals £839 which you can finance for 36 months with £119 upfront and £20 monthly payments , that's what I did. My S21 Ultra is getting old and sometimes I have lag and battery life is not as great anymore
@@eoinmccann8450 Totally worth it, sold my s21 ultra and bought s23 ultra. Camera, battery, screen(less curved as i like) and performance is much better than s21 ultra😊👌🏻
Decided on a whim to buy the S23 Ultra. Upgraded from my S10 Plus which still works beautifully 4 years later. The S23 Ultra feels like a wise older sibling to the S10 Plus. Love the performance of both phones.
I'm in the same boat as you, thinking of upgrading to the ultra from the s10+. Might just have to pull the trigger even though I will miss the expandable memory
I just upgraded from the Galaxy Note 20 to the S23 Ultra this week, and I love it. This S23 Ultra is so much faster than my Note 20, and the camera is so much better, but it still feels like my Note 20.

I went from the 21 ultra to the 23 ultra, the battery improvement is pretty huge, although I did have the Exynos S21 ultra.
What's your experience with cameras and the S-pen? You think it's worth it?
@@Mardoxx7 The front camera is pretty poor in third-party apps. I guess the Samsung Camera app does a lot of heavy lifting to give you a good image.
I have issues connecting to the S-pen first time (for the air gestures, writing doesn't require connection). I always have to put it back and take it out a second time, but I guess this is a software issue that will get fixed.
The first-time setup is also very buggy, was stuck in the setup screens loop for hours until it randomly fixed itself, but that type of issues will probably get fixed by the time you get it.
Worth it? Not at the release retail price, but I got it with a student discount and an accessory bundle discount and with 0% long-term financing, which, with the current inflation will make this phone a lot cheaper as the time runs.
@lukect bro I need your opinion about the camera. I'm also a s21 ultra user and I pre-ordered this s23 ultra and will get it in couple of days . But the only reason I ordered because thinking the camera would be far better from s21 ultra. Do you think it has a significant change ? What's your experience
The upgrade should be avoided for those already have s22 ultra. Since you have s21 it's good to upgrade. I am upgrading from s20+ to s22 ultra
@Sriharsha Ng yeah I'm probably gonna return it if the camera not satisfied enough. But they giving 800 for trade in my old phone plus a storage upgrade and free buds 2 if we pre order before 17. That's why i ordered.
The S23 Ultra has this Note9 vibe to me. Yeah the Note9 was an incremental upgrade over Note8, but it upgraded everywhere it mattered.
☝🏽
As a Note 9 user that upgraded from a Note 8, I agree. This is the first phone I've actually felt an urge to jump up to.
Still running my trusty battle-scarred Note 9, might jump to the S23 Ultra later this year when the prices drop a bit.
One huge thing i noticed is that this is the first phone where all my photos and other results are perfectly 1:1 matched to the examples that tech reviews are able to put out. It doesn't feel like you guys got some primo "best of the best" versions, like you have some better QC or something. I love this phone, and the moon photos i have are just.... astonishing
Your phone reviews are so simple and yet so good
A note for 10:08 - You can actually improve the shutter lag by installing camera assistant from the Samsung store then search capture speed and select "prioritize speed".

A really great idea for a new vid, would be to do a head to head comparison between all the flexibility and features of Nova Launcher and One UI on the NEW S23 Ultra. I am convinced that the experience with the Nova Launcher is much better, but I'd love to see it go head to head with the One UI's newest edition. I tried to stay on the One UI skin when I first got my S23U, but kept running into limitations which made me long for Nova. All the extra gestures, instead of just three, allow me to really use my phone so much more efficiently. And having more choices for app grids on the home screen and app screen was a must, instead of being limited to just a few choices on One UI. Please do a head to head, and let's see if I'm missing something or not. Thanks.
Goodlock on the Samsung store really opens up oneUI
@@L1Z1Oit's ok, but I still prefer Nova, it runs beautifully on the S23 Ultra

I never thought i would by a Samsung phone but S23 ULTRA is another level watching it on S23 ULTRA
As a iPhone user for the longest time, i watched the new S23 ultra with a open mindset. I gotta say, im impressed.
As we should. Phones are getting so sophisticated nowadays and each brand makes impressive products. I like Samsung's innovations alot especially their camera and customizability. That being said, we should prepare to be called "iSheep" "Apple fanboys" and get insulted for simply preferring iPhones. I honestly wish criticism on youtube comment sections were more civil and appreciative of each other's personal opinions, like your comment.

Never watched a video before but your video title grabbed my attention over others and was a great review. I appreciate your overview at the end saying yeah it's not gonna be best in class for every feature but over all it's got everything you need, and I think that matters far more.
I appreciate the explanation of the camera stuff. Seriously. I never understand all the technical flexing the companies do over their newest cameras. Cheers brobro.
I've been an iPhone guy for as long as I've been able to own a cell phone. Swore up and down that I'd NEVER switch to an android platform. Just picked up the S23 Ultra and MAAAAAN HAVE I BEEN WRONG. This phone is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
The overall quality of this video is amazing. Kudos to the mkbhd team 👏
Do you have something to say about the phone he reviewed or as usual you came here to suck up to MKBHD.
Honestly, not really, not this time. This was barely a phone review. It was a camera review. And even when it comes to the camera, not a single mention of how those photos look like once shared anywhere on social media. Most people take photos to share them. If he’s gonna spend 90% of the video reviewing the camera, might as well tell us if it’s still terribly compressed once shared…
You guys need to chill. When I said the "quality of the video" I meant the aesthetics , for example @ 0:45 all the things in the frame are not random they were kept there to add value to the shot be it the the black rubik's cube, the speaker, the things that are out of focus, the shadows or the plant for contrast and don't forget the panning to focus on the camera's of the phones when he's talking about the differences between them.
I'm a music producer and I've recently started studying video production and color grading to create my own content and to me this is the quality of video production I aspire to achieve.
And coming to the phone itself there's nothing much to talk about , it's an incremental upgrade that one should ignore if they already have an s22ultra unless they're a rich, tech enthusiast who must have the latest tech in their pocket.
S21+ to S23+ for me. Ultra just a bit overkill for my daily usage so it was a good buy. Impressed with the chip!
How much better are the cameras??
So I plan to switch from my Galaxy z flip 3 to the ultra once the next gen of Samsung come out which should be in about 2 or 3 years given the track record so far. Would that be a good idea seeing as how this phone is, according to a lot of tech reviewers, phenomenal and even future proof?
Went from 10 years of iPhones to this and am so damn happy (last phone was the iPhone 14 Pro Max).
Great Review! I just wanted to add that, for the s23 series, you can actually reduce/remove the shutter lag if you go into the settings for the camera. You should try it out! I believe you essentially choose that the picture is taken when you click the shutter button instead of when your finger leaves the button, if that makes sense.
Not a good option though since you're sacrificing image quality.
@@theMLBfan Exactly.
@@theMLBfan was gonna say this
Actually, as a common misconception of the shutter lag, it is reducing the frames shot, not shortening the time between pressing the button and taking the photo. The S23, S22, and every other Samsung phone start taking the picture immediately, but it takes time for it to take all of the frames, which is why it feels slow. It's not shutter lag, which many people believe it is.
Can someone tell me if it has multi burst shots like the other models? Because if it does , burst shots are quick.
That intro is one of my favorites you've ever made. The camera angle, the music, the punchline... Straight up fire 🔥

@@Dryblack1 This. I'm upgrading from the Note10+ (the last Note to have the pen on the correct side IMO) to the S23 Ultra and the stylus placement is one of the very few things I'm not looking forward to, right alongside exclusion of SD card slot.

In Europe we went from the Exynos 2200 or whatever model on the S22U, to the SD 8 Gen2 on the S23U. The battery is substantially better, 100% charge could last me 2 solid days of use. It's snappier, doesn't catch random slowdowns, seems happier switching between more apps and repeatedly without caring at all. Camera I haven't had much chance to really test in the past week, but what I have noticed is the refinement in image processing - detail is retained where I'd expect blurring or artifacts before.

played through fzero gx on this and 0 fps drops (debloated ofc), master + vhard and this basically replaced all handhelds for me. Setedit@60hz adaptive basically no input lag. Only gripe is no proper screen protection, only promising one (whitestone) cracked without any external force. Any recommendations that dont have the fingerprint hole would be great

As usual your reviews are informative, capturing, and spot on 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you. Very useful. Getting one!
Marques, you rock! I wanted to ask you if ( in your opinion) ..One could take photos of artwork with the S23 and use those Hi-Res files to make prints ?? Would that be possible? THANKS !!! ✌🏽
Speakers are new, and much MUCH improved! Came from an exynos 22u, got my 23 yesterday, it was definitely worth the upgrade
No wonder its worth upgrade cuz that exynos S22U was worst phone ever
@@Demofix33 speakers are hardwares not software
@@Demofix33 why is that? i am looking into buying exynos s22
@@MrBrancomusic don't waste your money. Don't even buy the snapdragon unless you have no choice.
Both average battery life and get hot quickly.
I'm waiting a few months for 23U's price to drop.
@@MrBrancomusic Dino has a point. Honestly the exynos chip is awful.
I really liked this review in particular. You have highlighted the info which was truly being ignored by the other tech reviewers when they were reviewing Galaxy S23 Ultra. Thanks Marques
You mean you don’t like videos like Unbox Therepy, that feel like a giant commercial, by someone who has no clue what they’re talking about?
That’s pretty crazy
Wow. I haven't seen a flick of your dog in a min. Life. Your videos have been breaking down things I don't understand, so I can process tech, since before you went to college. Thank you. S10 to S23 is going to be fun. Stay up fam ✌🏾
I was in shock to see a photo of my block posted on your UA-cam video, that's dope :).
1:05 Tech youtubers when apple uses the same design for 7 billion years 🥰😍😙😫 vs when samsung does it for the first time😰😤😨😓
You and Dave are the only tech focused creators I watch anymore. I genuinely enjoy and watch every video you guys release. Even if it’s covering something I don’t care about. 😅
You mean smartphone focused...

I got fully refunded for my S21 ULTRA within warranty after 23 months of use because the phone retained water under the camera lenses. I was surprised to have been paid back in cash for the full amount. So I went ahead and ordered the S23 Ultra and their Tab A8 on offer and was left with 50e to spare. Best upgrade ever if you ask me 😂
Dang that's so clutch lol. Why the tablet though, I would just use that money for a watch or case
@@sahil_tayade it came free with the phone xD I sold the tablet for 190e :D big win
I just got this phone and it is a total dream! I just wonder if I am using a crappy cable or the extension cord has an effect because I am currently at 45% battery power and the projected time to 100% battery says about and hour and 15 minutes. I'm sure the phone is fine, just curious about this mild discrepancy.
Samsung has really nailed the ultra line since the s21 release. Had my s23 ultra a couple of days and I'm ending the day on 40-50% after 5+ hours of screen on time, my Exynos s21 ultra was close to dead on 4 hours. Nice refinements all over the phone.
I just order one. I expect to see a Big Jump on user experience/performance upgrading from S20FE to S23Ultra. Very nice review! Keep up the good job!
I have the S20 FE and can't decide between just upgrading to the S22 for a few £ more than I'm paying at the moment, or making the jump to 23 Ultra at £20/25 more than I'm currently paying.. 🤔 x.x
