FYI, there are no almonds in almond milk. It is mostly water, emulsifiers, and some oil.
Let me guess, said dr cywes 😂
@@johantansir-nt4ep have you ever tried to milk an almond? 😂
I kidding. There are great ones on the market. Elmhurst is a prime example.
Thank you for your videos it helps us a lot in what food to eat and what not. Also, can you please enlighten us about Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load? Thanks again!
Definitely we have covered these and previous videos. Just search SugarMD and whatever is in your mind.
Thank Dr !!!!! Appreciate your advice ! ❤❤❤❤
Considering that moderation is the key!
Any thoughts on lactose free milk
Thanks for the info. What about heavy whipping cream in your coffee the label says no carbs no sugar isn't that a good alternative to use instead of milk?
That’s what I use!!
@kennethreynolds8, heavy whipping cream could indeed be a decent substitute due to its low carb content. Just keep an eye on calories as well! Thanks for watching!
Thank you 😊
Thanks for the video. What about homemade kefir and yogurt?
Hi @suphesizdogru, homemade kefir and yogurt are generally healthier choices. I've made a video about dairy products and diabetes, you can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/WET323af1bs/v-deo.html.
The video that you suggested to watch was about cartisol, not about dairy products😊
what about FairLife milk, it's ultra filter, not one of you doctors talk about it, why?
Yes and only 6grams of carbs
@mitchporemba7052 That's a very good point. FairLife milk could potentially be a good option due to its lower sugar and higher protein content. However, as with anything, moderation is key. We should do a video on it soon. Thanks for the suggestion!
I don't drink milk, I do not like it, but, I do make my own greek yogurt and will only use Fairlife. I make chia pudding using almond milk.
I take Glucerna milk .it's low GI ..n some soya milk..😂😂❤❤
@@2wwwilly That is a great idea.
Good video Ty
When I take in milk it's usually 2% milk in about a 1/4 cup in a smoothie with Greek yogurt and low sugar fruits and maybe a dash of cinnamon for a delicious combination.
Thank you
You're welcome @buckstophurr! Stay tuned for more tips and advice on managing diabetes.
Is fresh milk on the farm a better/healthier drink than store milk.
Hi @rickhilliard2545, Fresh farm milk may have certain benefits but tread cautiously if you're diabetic since it also contains lactose (sugar). Hope this helps!
@@SugarMDs yes it helps,however it's goooood..lol
Thank you,
I use about 6 oz of low fat Organic Pastured Grass fed/finished lactose free Kefir in my smoothie. A cup (8 oz) is 13 grams carbs. Is this good or bad Doctor?
@busterduster4194, Adding kefir to your smoothie shouldn't be a problem as long as you're mindful of other carbs in your diet. Be sure to monitor your blood sugar levels to ensure they're in a safe range. Keep up the good work!
What exactly is this almond milk?
Or one can eat ovenight soaked 6-8 almonds, peel them b4 consuming.
I am lucky to have relatively easy access to fresh camel milk. It’s great for diabetics because it has very little impact on blood sugar levels.
I want to try some camel milk, but I don't know any camels. I'm sure in America you can get it from some place, but I've read about it, but never seen it. I do hear it is supposed to taste good and be very nutritious for you - and baby camels.
What about the oat milk. ?Its has less sugar than the almond milk. Thanks for the information Dr.💪💪
That’s my favorite!
Oat milk is pure carbs. Read the label.
@@johnndavis7647 thank you, can you recommend another milk.
@@lyndap.3701 Hemp milk is much better if you can find it.
Will never give up my milk
What about half&half creamer?
I'm with you - I can not drink my coffee black ! I CAN'T !!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤❤❤, Ty
So What about goat or sheep milk??
Good question
Goat milk is actually better due to casein and MCT
Thank u for video
You're welcome, @beckybooher340! I'm glad you found it helpful. Stay tuned for more useful videos! 😊
A lot of the plant based milks have emulsifiers and D2 added !!!
What about lactose free whole milk for Type2
❤️💖🙏❤️💖
The impact is about the same. Lactose free milk is created by adding the lactase the enzyme to break down lactose pre-consumption, as most lactose-intolerant people lack sufficient amounts of this enzyme to properly break it down themselves. Lactase breaks down lactose into the simple sugars glucose and galactose, so whether that's done within the body or beforehand, it's still producing sugar. Lactose free milk actually tastes sweeter than regular milk because of this pre-consumption breakdown to sugars. But it all still ends up as the same amount of sugar overall.
@@ladykilgore2337 I don't know about your explanation, but I do know that lactose-free milk does not give me the gas that regular milk does. As such, I will continue to use it.
Try A2 milk, doesn’t have the protein that bothers people with lactose intolerance
Thanks sugar MD for the health tips.
You're welcome @doloreswinsbarrow1110! Keep watching and stay healthy. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
@SugarMDs OK will do👍 thanks, sugar MD.
Unsweetened almond milk is the best for the diabetics. Thank you doctor. Although soy milk is also great for diabetics, soy milk can meddle with hormones in male but it is great for women.
Unsweetened homemade cashew milk and cream is the ultimate in taste. Raw cashews and water. Is it a safe diabetic option?
@kelvinwatt8663 Yes, unsweetened homemade cashew milk is a good option for diabetics. It has lower carbs compared to regular milk. Just remember to moderate your intake.
Glass of normal milk once in a while or with a slice of bread as a snack or when sugar is low?
Hi @SusScrofaVulgaris, in moderation and with regular glucose monitoring, consuming milk occasionally should be fine. Be sure to discuss this with your physician.
what about half & half?
Hi @racgrac28! Half & half is okay in moderation as it contains less sugar than regular milk. Take care!😊
What about lactose free milk?
Hello @mariebiggane7602, even lactose-free milk can raise blood sugar. It's all about moderating intake. Check out this link: sugarmds.com for more info.
What about semi skimmed milk please?
Hi @sal9560! Semi-skimmed milk can be a decent option if appropriately portioned. Just remember it still has carbs so monitor your blood sugars!
What is Allen milk?
@Erin-Thor, it seems like there might be a misunderstanding. There's no 'Allen milk' mentioned in the video. Maybe you misheard almond milk? Please revisit the video for clarity. Thanks 😊
I read the nutritional facts on the bottle. Planet Oats shows very little problem. But it and potatoes are sort of funky. Most of the time it goes o k and then out of no where the blood sugar goes up
You can make your own nut milk with a decent blender.
That's a great tip, @hargoniyamaki5168! Homemade nut milk is an excellent alternative for our viewers with diabetes. Thanks for sharing!
What about lactose free for diabetics with CKD
Hello @tonigalistan212! That's an excellent question. Lactose-free milk can be a good choice for some. However, it still has carbs. Obviously, you should always consult with your doctor or dietician. Keep watching more such informative videos to gain trend knowledge about diabetes.
What about KEFIR and it's positive effects for diabetes? ☺️☺️☺️
Hi @slamfreepoetry1845! I agree, Kefir does have some great properties. I'll try to include more about it in future videos. Thanks for the input! 👍😊
What about goat milk?
I dont understand how a video on milk would not mention the differences of whole milk and fat free/skim milk?
Some people are allergic to nuts and coconut. What then.
You're right, @robertnegron9706. If allergies are a concern, consider trying lactose-free or soy milk alternatives which are also generally low in carbs and sugars. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
Nope in the Almond milk. Almonds are a high 0xalate food. I do Kefir, sour cream and white cheddar. Which I eat when I have oxalate foods.
Hey @suzannefurman3957, it's great you found what works best for you! Remember, everyone's body reacts differently. Keep up the good effort. Visit sugarmds.com for more info 😉
Quote from Dr.Anthony Youn "Cows milk is not meant for humans. It's meant for baby cows"
Thanks for your comment @Sharperthanu1! It's certainly a point of view. Various diets work for different people. Remember to consult with your health care provider before making any significant changes to your diet. Stay healthy!
You didn't mention Lactose Free Fat Free Milk. What are your thoughts on this type of milk?
It still has carbs and due to the no fat content can still spike blood sugar due to high GI. If you have to drink it drink it only 4 ounces.
How about adding butter to coffee ?
raw! nothing added nothing removed.
Sure if you are milking the cow that’s the way to go. If milk is waiting around.. Not so sure
lactose free?
Hi @v.cotoiu3568, lactose-free milk still contains carbohydrates, so remember to factor that into your diet plan when managing diabetes. Stay tuned for more updates!
I find many health benefits by giving myself almond milk enemas! Afterwards, my farts tend to take on a nutty aroma, not unlike the scent of a feed-lot doused in Dollarama perfume!
What about goat or sheep milk
I drink about a pint of unsweetened kifer a day for the good gut bugs.
Hey @johnndavis7647, great job maintaining a healthy gut! Keep up the good habits and always monitor your blood sugar levels. Thanks for sharing! 🙌
I've being drinking milk whole milk for59. Years I'm diabetic doesn't spike my sugar I drink whole milk no problems now pasta does😮
Hey @JoseGomez-gw9lt, great to hear milk isn't causing you issues! Yes, every diabetic is different and reacts differently for different foods. Sticking to what works for you is crucial! Also, remember to keep your diet well balanced. Stay strong and healthy 💪
Dairy milk in MANY people with thyroid issue should not eat or drink dairy milk or cheese since this interferes with calcium in the thyroid leading to weight gain and increasing diabetes blood sugar levels, then also putting you at risk of High Blood pressure. So if you diabetes is not being controlled my simple advice is to cut out all cow dairy milk and cheese, goat and sheep milk cheese may also come into this problem category for diabetics. See a great Homeopath till you find the correct remedy for you. Best wishes
@roselynjakin5804 Thank you so much for your insightful comment. It's always helpful to share tips and advice from our experiences. Everyone reacts to food/drink differently, so it's a good idea to work with healthcare professionals (like homeopaths, dietitians) to find what works best for one's body. Best wishes! How about non fat milk ok?
Hi @user-yz7xq7js6g, Non-fat milk still contains carbs and can raise your blood sugar. Always check the nutrition facts to determine what suits you best. Keep watching for more diabetic-friendly tips! 😊
Fat free milk has excessive lactose (sugar)
Heavy cream mixed with water works well for me. Tastes like milk and has low sugar.
Hey @kylejohnson3851, that's an interesting hack! Thanks for sharing. Stay tuned for more tips and health information.
A2 milk is the best
Also if you have an immediate fall of your blood sugar milk is the better option rather than any juice or sugar of any kind because it will stabilize your blood sugar and not continually spike it to where your sugar is going up and down and up and down not the chocolate milk just get you some Fairlife milk and you can use that when your blood sugar goes down it will bring it up and keep it level
Hello @stephaniegillaspie7091! 👋 That's an interesting insight! 🤔 Thanks for sharing it with the community. It's important to individualize our approach to manage diabetes effectively. We recently launched our free newsletter! Sign up at sugarmds.com/ 😀
OK. No milk it is, then! I recently tried an Almond, dairy/sugar free drink and it was awful. Just coloured water. I can get by without milk in my life so no big deal.
But almond milk has very few almonds and mostly water and soybean, and other ingredients. I stay with regular vitamin D milk, mainly use it to flavor my decaf coffee.
How can cheese be good and milk be bad?
Cheese has no carbs, while milk has in the form of lactose!?
Also Raw milk, sheep, goat?? So raw , and just regular sheep and goat??
@julianroccopesa3491, while the sugar content in raw, sheep, and goat milk is not high, they’re still capable of raising blood sugar levels. It's always advisable to consume these in moderation and monitor your glucose levels. For more information, please visit my website SUGARMDS.COM.
What about 2% low fat milk?
It's high in Lactose
Hello @harryedmunds6652, 2% milk is a better choice compared to full-fat, but still moderation is key due to sugar content. Opt for unsweetened almond milk or other low-carb alternatives for a safer option.
Naturally occurring animal-based milk or milk produced from a chemistry set..... hmmmm. 🤔
Hey @fu4616, that's a great way to put it 😄. Always choose what's best for your health! Keep watching and stay informed!
I drink 2% fat organic milk. This video doesn't mention 2% milk.
Hi @GregSr, 2% milk still has some fat and carbs. If it's fitting well into your diet and blood sugars are in control, it's fine. Also, remember moderation is key for any food. Thanks for your comment!
Isn't all milk plant based?
Hi @speavy, typically when we refer to 'plant-based milk' we mean alternatives like almond, soy, or oat milk. Cow's milk, which is most common, is an animal product.
What about Fat Free Milk (skim milk)?
It's high in Lactose
❤️💖🙏❤️💖
4 ounces ? Metric please your on the WWW!!
go to WWW and google it.
Come off it!
There are far worse things that diabetics should avoid than milk.
Your scraping the churn a bit me thinks Sugar MD
I appreciate your feedback @Rickwardful! Diabetes management indeed requires a whole lifestyle approach. Stay tuned to the channel, as I'll be discussing more items to watch out for! Let's keep the conversation going.
Unsweetened Almond milk is what I drink I just say even 2% low fat milk has a LOT of SUGAR so read the labels.
Hmm, this causes me concern as I love my dairy fresh skim milk! Now I have to rethink this dairy routine which includes my low fat cheeses!
@georgesweap7 I understand your concern. Remember, everything in moderation. You don't have to completely eliminate dairy, just reduce your intake and make healthier choices. Smoothies with no sugar added almond milk would be a good option.
