I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2021 but refused medication. Instead, I completely changed my diet and reversed it in just 4 months. I lost weight, cook all my meals, and stick to a disciplined routine. Now, I feel amazing, my body looks great, and I no longer crave sugar. At 59, I feel like I’m 25 again. I walk 20 minutes daily, practice intermittent fasting, and keep a photo of my old self on the fridge as motivation. It's a lifelong commitment, but the results are worth it!

I became type 2 diabetic in 2021. I refused meds and said I would change my diet and that's what I did. I reversed it 4 months later. I lost a lot of weight quickly. I only eat food I make myself. At the beginning my body and brain were in a battle but I stuck rigid to it and eventually my body and brain clicked into sync. My body now looks amazing and I feel fantastic. The only treat I eat daily is a homemade flapjack and I make a batch of one week's worth. Weirdly my eyesight has improved, but here is the kicker. This is a lifelong dietary change, it's not something I can dip in and out of and it takes discipline. I don't crave sugar anymore, but I feel like a 25 year old in a body that now only looks like the body of a 25-30 year old in peak physical form and I'm 59. I keep a photo of myself on the fridge to remind myself how I used to look. It's a great motivator to keep on track. Exercise wise, I walk just 20 minutes a day at a fast enough pace to get my heart rate up. Now I do intermittent fasting and don't have breakfast until mid morning and don't eat after 8pm. All I can say is it's like I have shed the body of an old avatar and I am in a new fresh body full of energy. It's like I have been reborn.

From personal experience the biggest help to maintain your wellbeing relating to glucose levels is to be in the moment, take active control and ownership and that is 80% of your battle. The rest is being mindful of what you eat, when you eat it and balanced with mild exercise. Very quickly you will see results and your anxiety will reduce.

Dietitian here-Great video and content. As you said, eating fruit after a meal helps reduce the glucose spike from fruit. But also, any fruit balanced with protein or fat helps reduce blood sugar spike as well. With regard to bananas, greenish bananas have resistant starch and prebiotic fiber so the sugars are absorbed more slowly. Also, exercising after, or simply doing chores after help lower the glucose spike as well. Side note-having a tablespoon of vinegar before eating fruit helps decrease blood sugar. Or if you’re having a meal high in carbs, you can incorporate vinegar into a salad dressing or some other component of the meal. Additionally, eating the vegetables and protein before the carbs help as well. Best of success to you all!!

for a medium sized one) but
high in fiber, nutrients & essential fatty acids which
can help you LOSE weight in
      the long run. Many people
      do not eat ENOUGH healthy
fats & therefore HOLD ON to

The 3 white foods keep it up for many hours, with insulin or not. Spikes have not affected my A1c unless it stays spiked. My experience.

The rinds, peels, pith of fruits such as Watermelon, Orange, Mandarin, Pomegranate, Bananas, Dragon Fruit contain much of the same vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as the fruit that they wrap. So if you finely chop these peels in thin slices, dehydrate them at 200F for about 180 minutes, when they are dry blend them into a fine powder using a blender, you can keep these peels or rinds on a sealed glass jar or tin and add them to your smoothies when you make smoothies which use fruit from what you put in the red bowl. If you use a sweetener for your coffee such as Monk Fruit or stevia, you can also add a teaspoon of this powered peel into your coffee and blend it. This will not only reduce your insulin response to the sweet taste, it will increase the vitamin and antioxidant content of your beverage.

@@naomiAcronym the pith is part of the skin of the fruit. On citrus fruit such as a orange or a lemon or a lime, the zest is the part with the color (orange, yellow, green) the pith is the white part as well as the white part that holds the sections together. Not to be confused with "pit" such as the stone or seed of the a peach or avocado in the center.
For the stone or seeds of the fruit, it's best to look up if they are edible first as some plants discourage people from eating them by putting anti-nutrients in them. One example, the seed of the apple contains a bit of arsenic in it.

I still have an issue with food potion control, because I am a food addict. I eat mostly organic food, nothing with sugar, no processed food, no processed grains, no Carbs, and I am trying not to eat Meat. But because my portion control is hard to do, I gained a lot of weight. All my life I was an athlete, I ran 10 miles, I mountain climbed, back packed and played abut every kind of sport. But because I loved sweets and ate food I should not have, when I got to be 50 years old, my weight went from 185 pounds to 315 pounds, before they tested me for diabetes. Yeah, give him a Nobel Prize ))) The only caveat is fruits are full of fructose (especially modern modified fruits loaded with sugar), and fructose does not cause any blood glucose spikes at all, it has no glycemic load. But what it does, it contributes towards fatty liver disease, damages mitochondria and lowers insulin sensitivity, which is really bad for a diabetic. So the only correct answer for a diabetic is NO FRUITS, eat vegetables instead. All the rest is like discussing which sort of beer should an alcoholic drink.

Grapes vs strawberries. Just last night I bought 2 (16oz ea.) containers of strawberries. I ate 16oz of strawberries soon as I got home (around 3pm). Went and worked on my yard until about 6pm. Around 8pm I ate 3 deep fried chicken legs (yes I know but I'm a southern guy lol) Now I've been struggling with high sugar levels in the morning (200-300 & for me I function better at 130-140). But this morning (after I went outside and got my daily dose of direct sunlight -sun gazing- 10 minutes) I checked my sugar and it was 151! Yesterday morning it was 267! So (when I can afford to) strawberries will be my go to when I have a snack urge!

Hi Tom, I have an idea for another video using these exact same fruits, but first, I want to thank you for this one and tell you how much I appreciate the effort and the information. It must have taken several days to work through that many fruits. Really excellent.
Anyway, the idea for another video. Did you see the study conducted by researchers in Japan where they had participants first drink a glass of water with one or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar stirred into the water, and then they performed tests like you just did. But instead of fruits they did it with rice and other high carb foods that are common to the Japanese diet. The result was by simply drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of the vinegar before eating the food, the sugar response dropped by 25% or more.
What if you did this fruit test all over again, but before eating it you drank a glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar?
What if the net result was to move fruits in the “yellow” bowl into green, or from “red” to “yellow.”
Or what if it has no effect, or what if it affects some fruits but not others?
I think it would be fascinating - especially if it works. It could become a kind of secret weapon for diabetes eating.
But that’s again for this video. It’s going to help my life.

My Calcium scan score of 1300, (3 years ago) most likely is due to metabolic syndrome/Type-2.
The Standard American Diet (SAD) for 50 years caused me a wide range of problems. The plaque that's most likely to kill me is just one of the problems.
But, I started Keto in 2017, and that might be the reason I'm still here. Above ground. Might make it to 80 with any luck..

Thank you for the feedback. I have a few other videos on my channel that address this point. Generally, the glycemic load is derived from the net carb number. The more net carbs the higher GL. Also, from my experience adding protein and fat lowers the GI. Hope this makes sense.

I actually took the photo shop so when I go to the grocery store, I will know what fruits to eat and watch fruits not to eat. You don’t have to be a diabetic too long I lose weight and getting rid of sugar is one of the quickest ways to get rid of weight. Thank you so much great video.

The skin of the banana is equally useful in providing minerals and vitamins as is the actual fruit. It can be pickled using salt, vinegar and a little water, after it is cleaned (before eating) and the hard ends removed, and this skin allowed to go black during a pickling week in a glass jar in the fridge.

Don't eat white potatoes. Sweet potato is fair and preferably eat the skin for minerals and fibre as well. Hope this helps you.

A spike in glucose is a normal response to eating fruit or most foods, regardless of fructose content. What matters is how your body handles it. If you're insulin resistant, your pancreas isn't working properly to allow glucose into your cells. Lower insulin resistance with a low-fat, mostly whole food plant-based diet. High-fat intake from meat and dairy are very unhealthy, not fruit and complex carbs; it's the high fat that creates insulin resistance show in a consensus of studies. This approach helped me lose a lot of weight and improve my metabolic numbers. BTW, I eat over 600 g of carbs a day.

Absolutely amazing content ! Also I would like to share what I have heard from a doctor, that in ancient , pre historic times, the men were eating a lot of fruits in summer to add enough fat on their bodies, so that in winter during hunting they don't starve if they can't find meat one day....he said that we shouldn't eat fruits in winter unless we live in a country where winter is summer ....maybe also the public health guidelines ( 3 to 5 servings of fruits daily) are exagerated....II guess eating less fruit is good and only when they are in season. Many people think that fruits are healthy just because there is a large variety available all year round , but a little goes a long way .... just wanted to share as I have been diagnosed long time ago as pre diabetic and I eat fruits very rarely and fruits like raspberries, blackberries and avocados are some of my favorites. Thank you for this useful content ! 👏👏👏Lots of good health to you !

Hello. Let me help you. You can’t get diabetes from eating fruits like monkeys do. You get diabetes from eating fruits with your regular goods like bbq, hot dogs, deli, and more. I know someone with 650 blood sugar. She’s on her way to type 1 . She eats fruits along her tuna sandwich daily. I hope I was helpful to you. 🙏

Don't forget the avocado "fruits" with the lowest 2NC per 100g! I try to have a half avo every day, but love the berries that I have to limit more carefully, as they have no satiating fats, if not dolloped with cream or yogurt.
