From personal experience the biggest help to maintain your wellbeing relating to glucose levels is to be in the moment, take active control and ownership and that is 80% of your battle. The rest is being mindful of what you eat, when you eat it and balanced with mild exercise. Very quickly you will see results and your anxiety will reduce.

I became type 2 diabetic in 2021. I refused meds and said I would change my diet and that's what I did. I reversed it 4 months later. I lost a lot of weight quickly. I only eat food I make myself. At the beginning my body and brain were in a battle but I stuck rigid to it and eventually my body and brain clicked into sync. My body now looks amazing and I feel fantastic. The only treat I eat daily is a homemade flapjack and I make a batch of one week's worth. Weirdly my eyesight has improved, but here is the kicker. This is a lifelong dietary change, it's not something I can dip in and out of and it takes discipline. I don't crave sugar anymore, but I feel like a 25 year old in a body that now only looks like the body of a 25-30 year old in peak physical form and I'm 59. I keep a photo of myself on the fridge to remind myself how I used to look. It's a great motivator to keep on track. Exercise wise, I walk just 20 minutes a day at a fast enough pace to get my heart rate up. Now I do intermittent fasting and don't have breakfast until mid morning and don't eat after 8pm. All I can say is it's like I have shed the body of an old avatar and I am in a new fresh body full of energy. It's like I have been reborn.

Dietitian here-Great video and content. As you said, eating fruit after a meal helps reduce the glucose spike from fruit. But also, any fruit balanced with protein or fat helps reduce blood sugar spike as well. With regard to bananas, greenish bananas have resistant starch and prebiotic fiber so the sugars are absorbed more slowly. Also, exercising after, or simply doing chores after help lower the glucose spike as well. Side note-having a tablespoon of vinegar before eating fruit helps decrease blood sugar. Or if you’re having a meal high in carbs, you can incorporate vinegar into a salad dressing or some other component of the meal. Additionally, eating the vegetables and protein before the carbs help as well. Best of success to you all!!

Good for you, enjoyed your video, I have been a type 1 Diabetes for 66 years. To encourage folk, I have had a very interesting and diverse life, had two children, and a strong career. I was Mayor and Chair of my City region, and earlier worked as a Probation Officer for many years. I have travelled quite a lot, and love meeting new cultures and seeing the architecture and art. I cycle a Trike, as my balance is not the best, but I love cycling, and keeping mobile. Take heart all you you guys, just live moderately, eating nothing in excess, and cut direct sugar out of your diet. I happen to love avocado too, so that’s a bonus. Be sensible about your Diabetes, be careful of any wounds that might occur, have very good hygiene, and cleanse wounds carefully. But enjoy life, grab it fully! Ciao

During this trail I found out I'm type 1 or could be type 3. I became a diabetic at 39 yrs old I was around 45 during the trail, I'm 75 yrs old now. I liked the Lantus 100 but I haven't seen it anywhere or heard about it since.

@@tomjones2157According to a number of studies avocados
actually are fairly low in oxalates (average of 19 mg
for a medium sized one) but
high in fiber, nutrients & essential fatty acids which
can help you LOSE weight in
      the long run. Many people
      do not eat ENOUGH healthy
fats & therefore HOLD ON to
or RETAIN fat on their bodies.
      Oxalates can be flushed by
drinking enough water especially lemon water
taking magnesium & consuming water based fruits & veggies like asparagus, cucumbers & watermelon.

Yeah, give him a Nobel Prize ))) The only caveat is fruits are full of fructose (especially modern modified fruits loaded with sugar), and fructose does not cause any blood glucose spikes at all, it has no glycemic load. But what it does, it contributes towards fatty liver disease, damages mitochondria and lowers insulin sensitivity, which is really bad for a diabetic. So the only correct answer for a diabetic is NO FRUITS, eat vegetables instead. All the rest is like discussing which sort of beer should an alcoholic drink.

Learn to live with it. Thanks for all you do. If you obsess, your quality of life suffers.

Hi Tom, I have an idea for another video using these exact same fruits, but first, I want to thank you for this one and tell you how much I appreciate the effort and the information. It must have taken several days to work through that many fruits. Really excellent.
Anyway, the idea for another video. Did you see the study conducted by researchers in Japan where they had participants first drink a glass of water with one or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar stirred into the water, and then they performed tests like you just did. But instead of fruits they did it with rice and other high carb foods that are common to the Japanese diet. The result was by simply drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of the vinegar before eating the food, the sugar response dropped by 25% or more.
What if you did this fruit test all over again, but before eating it you drank a glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar?
What if the net result was to move fruits in the “yellow” bowl into green, or from “red” to “yellow.”
Or what if it has no effect, or what if it affects some fruits but not others?
I think it would be fascinating - especially if it works. It could become a kind of secret weapon for diabetes eating.
But that’s again for this video. It’s going to help my life.

The rinds, peels, pith of fruits such as Watermelon, Orange, Mandarin, Pomegranate, Bananas, Dragon Fruit contain much of the same vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as the fruit that they wrap. So if you finely chop these peels in thin slices, dehydrate them at 200F for about 180 minutes, when they are dry blend them into a fine powder using a blender, you can keep these peels or rinds on a sealed glass jar or tin and add them to your smoothies when you make smoothies which use fruit from what you put in the red bowl. If you use a sweetener for your coffee such as Monk Fruit or stevia, you can also add a teaspoon of this powered peel into your coffee and blend it. This will not only reduce your insulin response to the sweet taste, it will increase the vitamin and antioxidant content of your beverage.

On citrus fruit such as a orange or a lemon or a lime, the zest is the part with the color (orange, yellow, green) the pith is the white part as well as the white part that holds the sections together. Not to be confused with "pit" such as the stone or seed of the a peach or avocado in the center.
For the stone or seeds of the fruit, it's best to look up if they are edible first as some plants discourage people from eating them by putting anti-nutrients in them. One example, the seed of the apple contains a bit of arsenic in it.

Absolutely amazing content ! Also I would like to share what I have heard from a doctor, that in ancient , pre historic times, the men were eating a lot of fruits in summer to add enough fat on their bodies, so that in winter during hunting they don't starve if they can't find meat one day....he said that we shouldn't eat fruits in winter unless we live in a country where winter is summer ....maybe also the public health guidelines ( 3 to 5 servings of fruits daily) are exagerated....II guess eating less fruit is good and only when they are in season. Many people think that fruits are healthy just because there is a large variety available all year round , but a little goes a long way .... just wanted to share as I have been diagnosed long time ago as pre diabetic and I eat fruits very rarely and fruits like raspberries, blackberries and avocados are some of my favorites. You don’t have to be a diabetic too long I lose weight and getting rid of sugar is one of the quickest ways to get rid of weight. Thank you so much great video.

This was an incredibly insightful and practical video! It's fascinating to see how different fruits impact blood sugar levels, especially with real-life testing. The breakdown of each fruit into green, yellow, and red buckets makes it easy to understand which ones are safer choices for managing diabetes. I never realized how much factors like fiber content and glycemic index play a role in blood sugar control. Thanks for sharing your personal experience and tips, especially the info on avocado and berries. Looking forward to more helpful content-can't wait to see what you cover next!

re grapefruit. Note please, most people sprinkle sugar on it because it is too sour
otherwise. But there is a grapefruit available here in Central California called 'Oro Blanco' and it is deliciously sweet enough to eat au naturel.

11:39 Again you can not 'break fiber,' you can only change the state from course to fine. You do not need to cook fruits to make jams. I make a blueberry / avocado jam using very little heat, chia seeds, stevia, cinnamon, and collagen peptides, or potato (resistance) starch to thicken.. Not only does it not spike my glucose, at times my glucose is actually lower 2 hrs after eating it, than it was before.

@@newatiny344 Very sorry missed this completely. Two ways, I buy frozen organic blueberries, frozen avocado, 1 serving at a time, or double and triple to make a batch. 1/2 cup avocado to 1 cup blueberries. I heat them together in microwave for 3 minutes, add the rest of the ingredients, stevia, cinnamon, the juice form the berries thickens and done. Or in a saucepan medium heat throw in berries, avocado, cinnamon, stevia, heat until juice flows and let simmer for a bit, add thickener. Add a little potato starch at a time until get how thi9ck you like. If you want smooth, blend then reheat and add thickener.

@@newatiny344 Most welcome, one thing, if heating on the stove it sometimes gets thick with just the cinnamon and collagen peptides, just takes a little experimenting, everyone's taste is different. I also forgot I add organic vanilla as well to taste. I make the saucepan style when making low carb pancakes, put peanut butter on the pancake, then the compote over top. YUMM! Happy cooking. 😁😁🙏🙏
