    FANTASTIC how-to video. Thanks for taking the time to do this. It's really sad we have to call this a "true" cold air intake, when we've all been led to believe that "cold air intakes" are actually "cold" air intakes, which obviously they're not.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      Haha, well I see your point Tony. The truth is this should be labeled as the "coldest" air intake, while the first version of this should have been called something like a "cool" air intake. The first version did not go as much outside the engine bay, and therefore the air it drew in was not as cold as with this "True" cold air version. Of course, the original versions still was better than a short ram in terms of air temps.

    Great install video. Really makes me want to do this to my 2015 si coupe. I'm a little scared of the bumper removal but, I do realize you have a video on that as well. Reading through the comments I really admire the patience you have with some of the people posting comments and even I was under the impression that making these modifications would void my warranty. My car has an excellent warranty and I certainly don't want to screw that up. I think it's pretty hard to argue against the advantages of a well designed cold air system. I just have to decide if I want this or compromise for the simpler K&N typhoon system.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому +1

      shawn starling Thanks for the thoughtful comment. One thing to keep in mind is that the K&N system still does use an oiled filter, so you need to be very careful when re-oiling it, as too much oil can result in clogging of your MAF sensor. Also, when it comes to power gains, the Injen is just really hard to beat due to the cold air it draws in.
      Feel free to email us if you have more detailed questions.

      shawn starling i dont think if you install the air intake system would aviod your whole warrenty, but part of, like anything related with your engine, or anything could cost the problems by this system.
      i bought some led headlights and dome lights and i installed them, the dealer told me that it will aviod the electircal warrenty, and i said i dont care, just worry about the things under the hood!
      i bought a 15 si coupe in orange with 3 yrs factory and 3 yrs extended warrenty.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      Lei Zhang The dealership was wrong to say this. The electrical system is essentially segmented by fuses, so no single component can just "blow out" everything. The headlights could not damage other components even if there was a short.

    I really like that the clutch lines aren't relocated like some other intakes but I'm still on the fence about it. I'll have to do more research before I decide which route I want to go but thanks for posting this video. I found it very informative.

    +vtectuner_2013 for some reason I wasn't able to reply to your comment directly, possibly a glitch with youtube. In either case, it would be easier to remove the bumper to replace the filter. You can reach it through the wheel well, but is generally much tougher to do.

    This intake without a tune is not going to result in a power loss at all. However, definitely the tune helps give an extra 5hp or so above and beyond what the intake does.

    i had some problems with the filter rubbing against the bottom of the fender liner even when the vibration mount was holding up the coupler once the bumper was put back on. Did you have this problem? Any advice on how to make the clearance better?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      joshua molina Is it just the filter plastic or rubber that is hitting the fender liner? If so, that is really no big deal. You can try re-positioning the intake, but other parts may come closer to hitting other areas. We were able to positioning it so nothing is getting hit, but it did require a bit of fine adjustments.

    can you still drive in the rain or will that air filter suck up air?

  • @taranysganymede3039
    @taranysganymede3039 8 років тому

    So when road float up to half of that car wheels or maybe heavy rain it's also gonna suck water into that car engine then end up ovahule just my opinion.Will this happen?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  8 років тому

      +Lambokini ii Not unless the filter is fully submerged way beyond the piping. Hydrolock can happen, but only under the right conditions. It very exaggerated as to what can cause this issue. Unless the entire front end is submerged (about 3 or more feet), a little rain should not damage the engine.

    I've heard a lot of people say that without flashpro the intake isn't a good idea. What are your thought?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому +1

      The intake works fine without a FlashPro, in fact that is how Injen originally dyno'd this intake and got approximately 12 to 16 hp gains (this is there claim and they have a dyno chart to back it up - but we have not verified it on the dyno on a stock vehicle).

    Great videos, keep the good work.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому +1

      No, it's the law they can't do that just for installing a non-Honda part. However, here is the full info: "Under Federal Law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 to be specific) it is illegal for a dealer to deny you warranty coverage just because you installed an aftermarket part. To deny warranty, the dealer must prove the part to be the root of the specific problem you are requesting warranty for. Even then, they can only deny warranty for that specific problem, not for your whole car. Because aftermarket parts meet or exceed original equipment specifications, this normally only happens when the aftermarket part is improperly installed."

    What difference does it make this cold air intake with the stock air system? What's the estimated increase in hp?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  10 років тому +1

      This will give about 12 to 16hp more than the stock system. The stock system has many bends in it, and the piping is small in several places. This intake increases power by using a larger diameter tube with minimal bends, and also draws in cold air. See our product description for more info.

    • @samuelperez3194
      @samuelperez3194 9 років тому

      ***** I guarantee you that if you dyno the civic stock vs this cai you will not see 12-16 hp gained. Not at the wheel, not at the crank. You MIGHT gain 1-2whp in some ranges of the rpms but also you will lose 5-7whp in other rpm ranges.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому +1

      Samuel Perez 12 to 16hp is what the manufacture, Injen, claims. Since we have not dyno'd the intake on a stock car, we don't know what the actual results will be. 12 to 16hp does sound high to me as well, but this is what Injen got when dyno'ing the car. Even if there was some extra variable involved that made the car produce higher than normal #s , I don't see this intake making less than about 8 whp at bare minimum. Here is a discussion on the topic with actual dyno charts if you're interested:

    ***** , any insight on coil overs for a 15 Si sedan? I want a great ride experience as smooth as OEM just lower. I have skunk2 springs on tokico shocks on my 99 sedan and they were amazing. Stiff but came back smoothly with minimum bounce. Would go with that set up again, but I want a flush wheel/chassis set up and be able to raise height in the winter. Will be purchasing the Injen wrinkle red cold air intake as soon as I know it won't void my warranty. Warranty is my main concern lol thanks in advance! BTW got yourself a new sub.

      +ProBosnian Puddles are not really an issue, doesn't matter if water splashes all over the filter or not. For the intake to suck up water it literally has to be submerged. This will happen if you drive through about a foot of water or so.

    I have a 2014 civic si coupe and I want an intake and exhaust for my car! But I've heard rumors that I should first tune my car (which i really won't wanna do) because if I don't tune it and put in an exhaust or an intake then I will loose miles per gallon or it can be bad for my engine. Because they said for the 9th gen models or the 13" and up models that they made the engine different. Is this true??

    • @procivic
      @procivic  10 років тому +2

      No, you want to purchase the products first, THEN tune your car. An intake and exhaust will not hurt MPG, in fact they will most likely improve it a bit. This is because they allow the engine to rotate more freely due to decreased restrictions in the intake and exhaust systems.

    Do you guys have the map that u used to tune this product+pro civic?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      +Fishy If you purchase the intake from us, we can email you the MAP file. It will give you about 5 hp more. Keep in mind if you have other intake modifications such as an intake manifold or throttle body, then our tune will not work for you. We'll have the tune up on our website as a free option (for people who purchase the intake) in the near future.

    Love these videos! I would like to see a video of the sound of the Injen CAI.
    And from your comment below, you said there are out of the box parts I can get my car to 300 whp, what would that be exactly?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  10 років тому

      Thanks, we love doing the videos, so it works out :)
      Actually in the beginning of this video there is a clip of our Civic Si getting onto the freeway and you can hear the intake sound pretty well. We did that drive after the installation was done. For 300 whp, all you need is a CT Supercharger or KraftWerks Supercharger, and a good tune. They are both bolt-on parts that provide huge gains.

    Which one is better skunk or injen ?

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      Jonathan Bolanos Hard to say, both are really good. Injen has the advantage of being an easier install and not needing a tune, whereas the Skunk2 is a harder install and works best with a FlashPro tune, but the Skunk2 probably does give a bit more power.

    Wouldn't this intake run the risk of getting water into the engine?

    • @NicVigil
      @NicVigil 10 років тому

      yes

    • @procivic
      @procivic  10 років тому

      Yes, a cold air intake increases the chances of "hydrolock", but please remember in order to hydrolock the engine you have to submerge the filter in water. Depending on where you live, this may never happen at all. For example, on the West Coast we almost never see "rivers" of water on our streets deep enough to submerge a filter. Simply splashing water on the filter is not enough to cause issues. Many of of customers use cold air intakes even in rainy states...you just need to be aware of your surroundings and not drive through a river. This is the basically the compromise needed for gaining maximum power with an intake on this car.

    • @ZipTiePros
      @ZipTiePros 10 років тому

      Ok I see I understand now. Only reason I ask is because it floods pretty bad sometimes here in Texas. On another note. This has nothing to do with the intake. But what care do you think would be easier to achieve more power? This si or an frs? Thanks.

    • @procivic
      @procivic  10 років тому +2

      FreshLemunz I would say the Si, because it start with a larger motor (2.4 vs 2.0 liter) and their are several products on the market that out of the box will put you easily at over 300 whp.

    why do companies like these still make intake pipes out of the ricey shiney aluminum when they know damn well that these pipes are conductive of hot air. Instead of making the intake tubes out of a plastic composite of some sort which btw aren't conductive to heat, they still make these bling bling tubes that are worse than factory. Ever wonder why car manufactures stick with the rubber tubes? Well its because they don't get heat soak like this cheap intake in the video.i

    • @procivic
      @procivic  9 років тому

      +bb65346 Many companies, including Injen, make wrinkle black versions of their intakes. Also, some manufacturers, like Skunk2, make the tubing out of composites, which do not absorb heat. You also have to balance that with the fact that many customers like the shiny tubing, even though it does mean a bit more heat will be absorbed. The affect is small though, since the fresh cold air rushing through the tubing at high velocity (during full throttle) absorbs very little heat from the outside of the intake tube.
