I love my Acura ILX. I drive a 2013 and trading it in for the 2017 2.4. I think it's funny how people criticize acura so much but I love it. Good value, resale value, reliability and service.
@@antony7256 I drove the 2017 acura ilx much and use it as a fun car. I drove more on the winding mountain roads which need shifting frequently. I would say the DCT on acura is very reliable and responsive, and to some extent safer than manual transmission since your hands never off steering wheel. But some designs you need to know, the DCT is still automatic by nature, even it is sports manual mode, but when speed too low it still will down shift, if rev too high, it still will up shift, the ECU is monitoring it in background. But it is not a bad thing, it ensures the life and safety of transmission
I drive a 16 ilx and I hate having to push my car just to hear it but Acura isn’t meant to be pushed around and has anyone put a 15’ si wing spoiler yet ?
Interesting video and opinions. I have a 2013 SI. I have not been in the ILX, but I'm having a hard time on understanding how this car can cost 8 grand more than an SI and you don't get the mechanical differential. Yes it has leather seats and probably some nicer quality interior components, but it seems rather superficial. With the 2013 re-fresh the SI feels much more premium. So the gap is even narrower. If you don't care about leather seats (me), there is no question the SI is the better car.
I bought the 2019 ILX and absolutely love the exterior, I love the feel and drive. I did add a type r wing, Magna flow Cat back with a AEM short ram, and wow I'm in love. I really dont care about the infotainment system.
@@ColbyBeats604 hi, I put a the type R spoiler, carbon fiber wrapped from the door panels console, Cat back Magnaflow exhaust, AEM short ram, Eibache Pro kit lowering springs, tinted wrapped my head lights, type R badge on my rear. @@ColbyBeats604 dude the way I have my car now I love the feel and driving experience. So many people ask what kind of car it is and so many positive input. Feels great yet you a bit of luxury cus it's an Acura.
Smokescreen cool, I dm’d you on insta, if you could give me more info on the exhaust and air intake that’d be great. Looking to do it to mine but can’t find any that “fit”
Both of the Si drivers in the video said they'd go with the Si still. Nothing wrong with that, you just have to decide where you priorities are. For some, they may prefer the more upscale features of the ILX such as the heated seats, smart entry/push button start, HID headlights, and upscale styling. Some may also prefer the better service experience at the dealership that you get with the Acura badge. In the end, we felt Acura captured the spirit of the Si and that was the most important part.
Being an individual that helps build the ILX in Greensburg, I really feel the ILX has potential to be a sportier car and it definitely has room for a bigger engine. I could realistically see a V6 going into this, but that's just from what I've had a chance to see. The other thing is that I feel a lot of people probably DON'T want to pay $30K for something like this when you can get an Si or a standard Civic for a lot cheaper. Then again, this vehicle was designed to be the "I'm a young man trying to make it in the corporate executive world" kind of thing and not an underground race car although it has potential to be (in my opinion).
I got a 2014 used for 16,300 with 30 000 miles, the 6 speed and i feel like for that price it was the most bag I could get for my buck, almost got a 2015 brz w/ 30 000miles but it would've cost 24,000 so my payments are 100 less a month and tbh I thought the ilx was more fun to drive. both of those prices were otd(tax, tag, dealer fee)
I would like to take the time out and tell how much I like and appreciate you reviews. In my opinon the Acura ILX and Civic SI are twin brothers, one is a boisterous athele that likes attention, partying and at the same time can be leisurely. The other twin is more mature, laid-back, casual and boisterous as well, like it's twin it is not afraid of a street fight and can stand up of itself.
Hey guys i bought a 2013 ILX 2.4 almost a year ago. I love my car. Iv had other Honda's in the past . This is my favorite yet. And to even out this car in the same class with a Buick is just ridiculous, yes it might have more power, but for how long? I just feel like the ILX is alot more reliable then a Buick Verano.
The ILX is a good luxury car for younger buyer, but those who want a better value probably should look at the Buick Verano since you can get more powerful engine with an automatic transmission at nearly the same price. If less is for your philosophy, then go for the ILX or the Verano. But there's no denying you can get a bigger car for the same money or other small car at a cheaper price. If Acura put an automatic on the 2.4 engine, I think the ILX probably will sales more.
I have a buddy with a '14 Si, and I recently test drove a '13 ILX. I like the Acura better, looks better(my opinion), more comfortable and more features. '14 Si does have a bigger head unit/screen which is nice. I might be the owner of a 15 ILX though in the very near future. I loved the car. Si seemed to racey. I loved the Auto version too, but it was such a pouch.
thebluexanadu78 Yea, but the ILX looks to be much better too. If they are closer than they were before I might consider a Si. Looking like Ill be the owner of a 16 ILX as of now though.
What are you talking about? My point is simply that they've improved the interior and there is less of a gap between the 13SI and ILX as there is between the 12SI and ILX. I didn't say the interior is "so" much better. But it is better. And I'm not an 'interior quality fan." I bought the car for it's engine and transmission and limited slip. If I was interested in in interiors I would have bought the Acura - which is overpriced. Thus the point of my original post.
If you want performance go for the si..if you want luxury go for the ilx...I'd take the si over the ilx..love the v tech gage ..red seats..just has more sauce and the sound is amazing..ilx is nice as well...sounds good but I find the si sounds better ..ilx the made it more quiet in the interior... can't hear the v tech as much as in the SI
I think the ILX is just a much better looking car. Sure maybe same performance, but if you value extra amenities and aesthetics, I think the ilx is better.
The Verano turbo has more power but it's also 400 pounds heavier than the ILX so both are pretty much equal in straight line speed. Both vehicles have their strengths and weakness, we've driven both and were impressed with the compact Buick, but in the end, our editor-in-chief preferred the shifter and engine response in the 2.4 ILX.
In truth the press panned the 2012 Civic for cutting corners and bad handling attributes as well as cheap interior trim. That's why they reworked the model for 2013.
Test drove both but ended up walking away with a '13 4 door SI. I'm happy but would have been happy with either tbh. Just something about the SI badging/looks
No, its averaging about 1600 per month. While civic been #2 in recent months behind Camry. 2014 is the last year for TSX so when it's gone, ILX sale numbers will change.
I would pick ILX over a civic any day. new civics do not look good IMO. ive been a honda fan for the longest, but these new models are getting uglier each time.
Well only the 8th gen acura ilx is manual the new ilx are now automatic and 8th gen Si is the best generation of Si im gonna pick Si but ilx comes close second things like push start are nice

so basically it comes down to : do you want to pay about $6000 more than the Si just for leather and Acura badging, and give up your LSD? For me, at least, the answer is a definitive "no"
Most automaker are just starting to build smaller that combine bigger engine connecting to an automatic transmission. I feel like Acura could do it, although it may bring the price even higher. Nonetheless, I will buy it of course if I was looking for a small luxury car with a bigger engine. 150hp is just too weak for a luxury brand. It should make between 180-200 hp with a 6 speed or more automatic transmission, something that Mazda3 offer in their 2.5 model and provide better gas mileage.
Acura badge vs Honda badge, just so you can tell your girlfriend/friends/family that you drive an Acura instead of Honda Civic. Look at it this way, you be seen driving an Acura instead of a Honda civic. OK i am repeating myself now.
I think the new 2014 Mazda 3 will give the ILX a run for its money. Great styling and a nice interior. I wanted to like the ILX 2.5...but for the price...it is still lacking. While I have loved Hondas ever since my 1995 Acura Integra GSR. I have yet to find a stick shift that has been better. I was disappointed with my 2002 WRX (stick shift that is). Still looking for the next car...or more value in the ILX. Maybe Mazda will give me what I seek.
The difference in price is actually $5,000 when comparing just the MSRP. After you factor in the better discounts on the Acura, the ILX is maybe around $3-4 grand more expensive.

I meant 2.4L...sorry about the type-o. I liked my 02 WRX, w/ opt factory short throw...I did not like how going from 1st to 2nd was difficult 80% of the time, as the trans would block you out until you made a few attempts. I also disliked the car's occasional jerkiness at low speeds. The car was rarely a smooth or satisfying experience. Now my GSR, I could have driven that car in my sleep. I have yet to test the new Mazda 3...but it offers way more options than the ILX 2.4L...nav anyone?
