Wooooww! Finally… upload three days after I figure out how to install mine. I've been waiting for months for an instal video. It took me 9 hours and wanting to throw the intake in the trash lol
I think the K&N is the best intake to get. It might make 1 or 2 hp less than this Skunk2 but the ease of installation, no cutting wires or relocating the battery is worth the 2 hp loss. Plus it's cheaper.
Armin Tamzarian Just for comparison's sake, keep in mind K&N advertises a 10.59hp increase, but it is a SHORT RAM intake. Those dyno #s are with a relatively cool engine with the hood open and a fan on. The real world #s for cold air intakes like this Skunk2 one are always higher than short ram intakes. The reason is due to heat soak: short rams eventually start sucking in very very warm under the hood air.
Another great video from ***** . Was going to do the Skunk2 CAI , but I don't touch wires lol. Not a fan of cutting up factory wires. Great video though. Wanted to hear it running after install.
best intake is the one that has the pipes bend and the filter goes RIGHT where the stock thingy was in the bumper. the stock system is INCREDIBLY disgusting and inefficient. its amazing what a true cold air intake does to these cars. and yes, it will be ok from rain and all because the engine has a splash guard under the front bumper too!
Hey dude I just got finished with my install yesterday and have been trying base maps with flashpro.(it's a different car now) I really appreciate your videos, I used the phase 2 siri strut bar video you made too. You were right about those washer on the bar LOL dam my stubbornness! Thanks man got any pointers for me with the tuner?
+Ben Ford I'm glad to hear the videos helped you out! For the tunes, we mainly recommend simply choosing one that is closest to your set-up. If you need something more specific, having a professional tuner create a custom map for you is best recommended.
You guys can skip cutting/splicing the wires at 16:18. All I did was follow the wires and take it out of the plastic housing. The wire is long enough to reach with slack, just buy some more of the plastic tubing and add it for factory look.
Alexander Machuca Interesting that you were able to do the install without the wiring. There did not seem to be enough slack on our setup for us to feel comfortable using the factory wire length.
***** I carefully opened the ziptie clipped into the frame by slipping the tip of the razor blade in between the tooth of the ziptie. opened it up. Opened the plastic holding the wire, extend it and connect. for the plastic housing. tape it back up and use the same ziptie clip used to hold it back in place. one less wire to cut was my goal.
Wasn’t hard when I put my full race downpipe on. Except one of the bolts for the stock downpipe stripped. I had to mig weld a nut on it to get it loose. I’d advice replacing the bolts with a grade A bolt
Hi, i just have installed a CAI... Got some problems like there are not "nipple" to attach the vacuum hose. Does not include cables to extend at the flowmeter.
roberto vile If you bought the intake from us, please email in to customercare@procivic.com so we can help you with that. Or you can call us over the phone, which is probably easier. It sounds like you may be missing a couple wires. As far as the "nipple", the Skunk2 intake tube definitely does have one for the breather hose to connect to.
+ProCivic.com fairly simple. lol. i mean it wasnt the worst thing in the world but it was fairly indepth for a cold air intake install. no one should be discouraged from that statement... really just needed to take my time with everything but i got it done with help in about two hours or so.
just wondering would this fit on a ex model instead of a si? or is the motors to different? i already have a skunk2 exhaust so would be nice to get the same intake
wouldnit be possible to fix up the 2016 base model with cold air intake and exhaust im not tryna be ricer or tuner just want my car to sound and perform good
I have a stock 2013 civic lx coupe with 140k miles! What mods do you all recommend I get? Looking for good exhausts or intakes to improve sound quality and hp increase
R PT That is correct, and basically what is advertised by Skunk2. We have not verified that on a dyno, but it seems reasonable given the gains other similar intakes are getting.
+ProCivic.com i just installed mine and skunk2 provides an extension for the MAF sensor. I also was able to stretched the negative wire that needed to be extended by cutting a couple zip ties from the factory harness it gave me Enough play to plug it . No wires cut at all
+Isaac Arenas Do you mean permanently? If so, it does not. You should be able to reach it by only removing a small portion of it between the bumper and wheel (as shown at 4:41 in the video). Alternatively, you can remove the front bumper for more room.
Hey pro civic's, just got my s2 cold air intake installed and the engine light came on for emissions. If I get it tuned will the light go away and were can I get it tuned. Will the performance shop were I got it installed do it?
TheNuke95 The breather filters are more for when the intake you're getting doesn't supply the proper connections. The breather filter allows you to still have filtered air entering your valve cover. With this intake you don't need a breather filter.
i heard it weakens your performance. i have the injen cold air intake and im debating whether to get one. wouldn't it be more beneficial since you're not recycling nasty fumes to your intake?
TheNuke95 I think you're talking about an EGR valve, which recirculates exhaust gas. This breather hose simply allows the crankcase to "vent" pressure properly. Most of the time the air actually goes into the valve cover from the intake, and not the other way around.
I installed my s2 intake but it came with a maf sensor extension harness. Is it normal for the power steering, emissions, and vsa system alerts to go off?
+Matthew Sproat This should not happen. Double check that all the wires are connected properly. Also double check that all the wires that were spliced were connected to the exact same wire at the plug. Check for any leaks or loose clamps as well.
+ProCivic.com they went off. when I turned the car off and tried to start it, it didn't get any power from the battery, I had to jump it. the imid isn't operating now.
Anthony Colon So it is definitely possible Skunk2 has revised the intake recently. The intake from this video was ordered several months ago I believe.
+Kenneth Manas Huh? Can you re-phrase your question? I think you're asking if you still have to cut wires with the extenders. The answer is yes, but as we show in the video, it is pretty straightforward and the wires will have a very solid connection afterwards.
Hey bro by any chance when you installed your intake did your check emissions light go on? I'm thinking cus The car is now running rich and I need to tune it now? Any advice ?
+Erik Jimene Ours did not, but this can be caused by small leaks on some of the emissions lines near the throttle body. We recommend double checking all the lines to make sure they are properly sealed.
We have seen some 9th Gen Si's run rich after installing this intake with other modifications. I would highly recommended getting your vehicle tuned with a FlashPro. It will add a good amount of horsepower as well. Even an e-tune would be fine in this case. Email us at customercare@procivic.com if you have additional questions about this.
hey procivic.com if I install the cold air intake, will I need to tune my si? my friend had to tune it because there was an engine light he had that came up.
***** I was wondering if rywire could make a female and male wire instead of cutting factory harness I've had my intake sitting for about 2 months now I don't like the idea of cutting up my harness gf bought it as a gift
They could possibly, but Skunk2 may be making this in the future as well. For now, please email into customercare@procivic.com and we'll see what options there are.
He guys, it's been a couple months since I bought an si 15, looking for the best intake I can get for max performance in the car, what would you recommend? The car is stock I'm looking foward to tune it up!
Carlos Sanchez This Skun2 intake will probably make more power than any of the other intakes, but the install is tougher. If you want an easier install with almost as good power gains, try the Injen True Cold Air Intake: ua-cam.com/video/zeGQm-rYvPk/v-deo.html
+Danny Lugo If the intake works and is wired correctly, you no longer need that plug. Otherwise, if you do really need it, you will have to purchase a replacement from a Honda dealer.
try a battery reset. disconnect both neg and pos terminals from the battery and with a jumper cable, touch the neg and pos terminals and leave it like that for about 15 mins. this resets all the electronics and its basically a "turn it off and turn it on" fix. Doesnt always work.
+121dodgers There are certainly HP gains with this system. We also highly recommend a tune for best results. With a header, exhaust, and a tune, we saw gains up to 35HP.
+ProCivic.com hey thanks for the reply. i really appriciate it. i was asking because i was considering this skunk2 cai and the one that k&n offers. this system seems a bit more technical. not thats an issue, but having to move stuff around and drilling holes JUST for aesthetics plus having to tune doesnt seem to pay off. i am still considering the skunk2. but, the k&n seems to pay off more by instant gratification even if the gains are only minimal... without having to tune. i am not a hard core tuner/racer. im just looking to enhance my cars performance from stock. complete intake and exhaust system(header, manifolds, cat back,) in adition to the cai are my goals, along with a tune. skunk2 coilovers 2 are already mounted. so i was thinking of keeping everything with the same brand and skunk2 seems pretty legit and has a good reputation just from looking around on the internet. anyways. thanks for this video.
+121dodgers This is mainly for the most amount of power. However, if you want more details on this kit or other possible intake options, please email customercare@procivic.com for more in depth information
Milton Segovia It is usually about 2 inches from the fender well cover, but it's still hidden behind the fender well cover, so no worries about the tire every making contact with it. The tires never really contact the fender well cover, so there is no way for them to ever reach the air filter. Not sure if that was your concern or not.
Has there been any confirmation that Skunk2 includes wire extensions so you do not have to cut and splice? The intakes that you are currently selling at procivic.com, are they coming with these extensions now?
Mark Pollard All of the intakes include wires, but not a Plug and Play harness that allows you to just "click" in the wire extensions. You have to manually wire them, which is not that bad. I have only seen a few customers, like Anthony Colon (below), comment that they received "extended cables". I'm not really sure if that means a "harness" or not. That customer will have to be more specific about what they received.
For this much work and modification it should give 20hp without a tune, I'll stick to a K&N drop in with HPS silicone intake tube........way too much work for what it offers.....
+ProCivic.com For some reason when i installed i mine the check engine light keeps coming on/off at random times. When its on the vtec doesnt kick in. It keeps saying its running rich bank 1. I've been told i need to tune it for it to go away. Is that true?
+Marco Alonso Double check all connections and couplers first. It should not require a tune, but would help with more power. If you are still having troubles, contact us at customercare@procivic.com for tech assistance.
+Danniel Baldoza I'm not sure of the exact status of it at the moment. I could be CARB Pending. I think you will need to contact Skunk2 directly about it if you need specifics right now. Otherwise, we'll most likely (eventually) get an update from Skunk2 with the status.
way to much rewiring and relocating shit for this intake... more you got to do more risk of something going wrong... wanted it but now leaning towards a k &n typhoon or something simple. also looks like once the intake is on it makes battery replacement so much more difficult.
Video good but was given a thumbs down due to the extension wire cutting and moving components around. Injen cai all the way disappointment to see skunk2 expected that much work for a cai install
Eric Martin Yeah the wiring part does make the install a bit more difficult. I imagine Skunk2 map provide a harness in the future. Overall though, it does not add too much to the total install time.
Why would I ever splice in my car is wiring harness that is the old ass 90s way of doing things Like some rigged shit there Here’s an idea get a laptop get a Hondata and do it the right way
Vid sucks you skip the set that you have to extend the MAF five wires and how to install the battery tray, vid sucks cause know zooms in on how to.... My cousin's bf bought this intake and it had missing 5 wires for the MAF and only two for the negative signal wire only. Don't buy this intake if its offer at a reasonable price it maybe missing a few parts. We had to take it all out and put the stock air box back in cause the intake kit wasn't complete.
+Papo cruz We found there is still plenty of room to be able to connect cables to the vehicle. As for hydrolocking, it is very unlikely. The entire intake filter would need to be submerged in water for something like this to happen. We've driven through plenty of rain and have not had an issue with this.

+Marco Alonso Double check all connections and couplers first. It should not require a tune, but would help with more power. If you are still having troubles, contact us at customercare@procivic.com for tech assistance.
is this carb legal?
+Danniel Baldoza I'm not sure of the exact status of it at the moment. I could be CARB Pending. I think you will need to contact Skunk2 directly about it if you need specifics right now. Otherwise, we'll most likely (eventually) get an update from Skunk2 with the status.
that's sucks what about a smoke tail light for Honda civic 06-11 4dr

that shit looked like a fucking process I never wanna do. why they have to make something that is so simple look so difficult lol
Why such a long time between videos? If you need a car to do work on let me know man
way to much rewiring and relocating shit for this intake... more you got to do more risk of something going wrong... wanted it but now leaning towards a k &n typhoon or something simple. also looks like once the intake is on it makes battery replacement so much more difficult.
That's true procivic I just hate seeing wiring cut especially when your ride is the 15 si with extended warranty
Wasted. Not getting skunk. Never seen an intake where u have to wire and jack up the tranny
that is not what a 2013 si looks like under the hood
Derick Cory
ok. when he moved the battery it threw me off. get a K and N Typhoon amd keep everything where it belongs.
Derick Cory l
To much work for what your getyimg2
Why would I ever splice in my car is wiring harness that is the old ass 90s way of doing things
Like some rigged shit there
Here’s an idea get a laptop get a Hondata and do it the right way
This guy is a sped
Vid sucks you skip the set that you have to extend the MAF five wires and how to install the battery tray, vid sucks cause know zooms in on how to....
My cousin's bf bought this intake and it had missing 5 wires for the MAF and only two for the negative signal wire only. Don't buy this intake if its offer at a reasonable price it maybe missing a few parts.
We had to take it all out and put the stock air box back in cause the intake kit wasn't complete.
kenneth man this intake is so expensive why didnt skunk2 just include a freakin jumper harness to make this a plug and play setup, idiots!!
16ValveVtec mine came with the jumper wire
Just figure it out yourself this guy has downs
is the installment the same way for a 07 si?
+jay_ Castro It will be similar, but not the same. It would be best to follow the directions for a 06-11 si for a proper install.
Was it worth it installing intake manifold on 9th gen?
This video is actually for the Cold Air Intake. Yes, it was well worth it.
How can u get to the battery if u need to jumpstart? And will this hydro lock my car?
+Papo cruz We found there is still plenty of room to be able to connect cables to the vehicle. As for hydrolocking, it is very unlikely. The entire intake filter would need to be submerged in water for something like this to happen. We've driven through plenty of rain and have not had an issue with this.
