    Even without buying this chair, this review was SO helpful! I've been so overwhelmed trying to look through reviews of different types of chairs, because SO MANY people said that certain chairs weren't comfortable. It really helped me to hear your thoughts on comfort and movement in ergonomics, and seems to be where a lot of the confusing opinions I found were coming from! I feel a lot better about going forward with the chair I was leaning toward.

    Hey man, thanks so much for this high quality video!
    It's well edited, structured, and visually appealing. The only thing, as comments mentioned before, was the music was too loud. It has nerd humor and insight that encourages changes in perspectives. You've shared your expert knowledge as a PT and philosophy on ergonomics & health which gives you even more merit!
    I've been dealing with physical problems for a while now, and long hours in front of the PC is not doing me favors.
    Though money is tight, you've inspired me to invest in myself by getting a sit-stand desk as well as this chair.
    I think you deserve way more followers and views and I appreciate your effort! Thanks, dude!

    Bought this chair based on your review. I was so indecisive on ordering a more traditional office chair for long desk sessions, and your review really sold me on the strengths of the Capisco over say the Aeron or Embody. Thank you for your professional input and review of this chair!

      I was between buying the Aeron and Embody before I saw your review of the Capisco! Your insights really convinced me to go forward with the less traditional ideal on ' what is comfort?'.
      First full week 40+ hour week in the Capisco coming up!! I'm about the same body type / height as you and sit as a DA at the desk for 9+ hours a day. I'm also a runner and a fan of movement in general, so I appreciate the potential of this chair for longterm comfort wear on my joints and muscle groups.
      Thank you for your time and consideration going forward! I can't wait wait to pour through more of your videos.

      Hello, do you still like the chair?

    • @koalathekyle
      @koalathekyle 2 роки тому +4

      @@orcusdei Absolutely. The chair pairs well if you have a standing desk (not meant if you have a sitting desk) and go back and forth a lot with your working position. If you mostly like standing, but want to sit or lean/sit, it's the best. Very hard foam, so it relies on your posture to keep you comfortable and attentive with your work; which is the long term benefit of choosing such a chair.

    I bought one today but this video reassures me of my choice, thanks. I got the taller piston and footring since I am tall and have an appropriately raisable desk, and spent 1h trying 3 different capiscos in the showroom haha!

    • @Hanagigi
      @Hanagigi 3 роки тому +3

      @@FortifySTR The chair arrived yesterday and I am loving it. Was dubious about the footring and taller piston but I can confirm what you state in the video: perching is nice! I can perch when I want, then lower my feet, raise the chair a bit, lock it, rock it, anything.
      I found myself moving around a lot and it felt good, I was always fidgeting on standard chairs but here I can just move around. So dynamic, as I read somewhere I sit ON the chair, not IN the chair. I love it.
      Conducted a 4h remote training from home this morning and the chair was great, I could sit up when I had to talk and slouch a bit when it was not my turn.
      To whoever sees this video: I can vouch for it! The best Capisco review I have seen out there.

      @@Hanagigi Thank you for your insights. I've found out a few youtubers to be recommending this chair but I never really got why they like them so much.
      After watching this video and reading your comments about it I can recognize myself. Being the fidgeting kind of sitter myself I think I will have to try this chair out. Time to find a showroom and then start saving as it's definitely an investment.
      My current chair was also relatively expensive but sitting on it for 10 years now has made the hand rests terrible looking and they started to flake out plastic parts which looks terrible. Also having the choice for multiple positions is the the thing it lacks the most.

    • @Hanagigi
      @Hanagigi 2 роки тому +1

      Update after a year of largely working from home on my capisco:
      Chair is still working fine, with a slight wobble in the tall piston when extended. The plastic ring to raise the footrest is too weak for me and kept popping out, so I just removed it. I also got fatter, so... yeah.
      The capisco 100% is an active chair, and is NOT comfortable, as said in the video.
      I can work and play on this for hours on end, while moving often. No back, neck etc. pain.
      This is great for when I have to work and do meeting with clients, because it keeps me awake by moving all the time, changing seating position, sliding the bottom part (?) and so on.
      Unfortunately I also suffer from sleep problems, and this chair really exhausts me further when particularly tired. In those situations I move to my (shitty) sofa. I also suspect that it enhanced my posture, and thus heightened how uncomfortable my mattress was (and the one I got after that. And the one I got after that also...) and how hunched I become on my sofa.
      Backwards seating is pretty cool, especially when doing some work on small things, e.g. electronics soldering.
      All in all, I personally experienced everything described in this video! This chair truly is a bit of an ongoing exercise!

    • @FortifySTR
      @FortifySTR  3 роки тому +2

      Hey there! So sorry about the coccydynia! Without an evaluation and further assessment it is hard to say, but I've had patients who had coccydynia who had improvement using wedge cushions as well as some ergonomic adjustments to help sit in a more erect position (to take pressure off the coccyx). As for if this chair would help with that, I would probably swing towards "no". While this chair is amazing, it does tend to the firmer side which can exacerbate some existing conditions. Hope that helps! If you need more help, we do ergonomic assessments and can help you find a pain specialist to work on the coccydynia! Thanks for the comment.

    I’m thinking of getting this chair, biggest drawback for me is no armrests in normal seated position. Doesn’t that make your back and shoulder muscles fatigued? My arms have nerve issues so I’d like them supported.

    • @FortifySTR
      @FortifySTR  3 роки тому +2

      If I sit close enough to the desk and lean back into the chair, i can have the back of my elbows resting on the backrest "t"s, which is enough support for my shoulders . I will say that if you need forearm support for mouse work, you may need to sit a bit sideways so that the back rest T supports the forearm. All in all, if you are using this chair like you are supposed to (moving frequently), I don't think the armrests are strictly necessary. If you already had a wrist condition with symptoms though, I would maybe think of a different chair if you need forearm/shoulder support.

    I can’t decide between this or the Aeron. There are no places I can try this chair so it’s a hard buy for me for that reason. How is it without arm rests? Also what standing desk do you have?

    • @FortifySTR
      @FortifySTR  3 роки тому

      Between this vs. the Aeron...like everything its gonna depend on what tasks you're doing, the desk, the environment...if you have a lot of room around your desk, the Capisco is great. You have the space to swing around freely to your hearts content. But if you are in a small cubicle or office space, it's a little less ideal. I type this as I sit on my capisco in my home office which is crammed into a little tiny space and I'm making it work...but it's definitely not ideal. I've never missed the arm rests, because i can lean back and place my elbows on the back rest "t's which offloads the shoulder (which is what arm rests mostly do)...but if you do a lot of mousework or have wrist symptoms, you'll either need to sit sideways or get a chair with arm rests. Aeron you can get much cheaper used, while its nearly impossible to find used Capiscos. They are also good if you sit very "hot" and sweat alot, the mesh keeps your bum much cooler.
      Its a sit-to-stand mechanical desk which I think was called NextDesk, which is was absorbed by another company. Look into Uplift as they make some great sit to stand desks. Hope that helps.

    • @ChaseLancaster
      @ChaseLancaster 3 роки тому +1

      @@FortifySTR that helps a lot! I will have a lot of room and I am leaning towards the Aeron right now. I am still tempted to try the Capisco since Fully’s return policy on it is so good.

    Thank you for the video and your content in general. What do you think of the Capisco Pulse 8020? Also, are there any recommendations on the lift height?
    I'm considering it as a more affordable choice

    • @FortifySTR
      @FortifySTR  3 роки тому +1

      The puls is in a lot of ways just like the capisco, however it’s a bit firmer due to being made of the plastic rather than upholstery.
      In terms of being able to sit in it actively all I said in the video applies, but because of the firmness it may be a bit too uncomfortable to sit in it in the cannonball position for example. I’d ask you what your job looks like and how you feel sitting on hard benches and similar things before making a recommendation.
      Generally if you aren’t sitting in the chair for long stretches and using it as more of a task chair (for example I see the puls a lot as a chair for healthcare workers for examination) then it’ll be fine. But if you are in the chair all day it may be too much.

    • @anna_nym
      @anna_nym 2 роки тому

      @@FortifySTR One thing that could make the difference: If you are a smaller person or one with a smaller body frame, the Puls might be more comfortable despite being not fully upholstered (the Pulse 8020 comes with a nice seat cushion, so only the back is completely plastic).
      However, I'd also be VERY interested in your opinion about the gast lift height. I want to buy a Capisco since on my swopper, I sometimes miss a back rest.
      Of course, the larger 265mm gas lift can be used as a standing help for standing desks, but even if one has a height adjustable desk: Is it always better to go with the higher 265mm gas lift than with the standard 200mm one regarding back / thigh angle?
      I sometime have the feeling that sitting higher causes more stress on my lower back, and I am missing the "classic" 90° position. Is it just a thing to get used to, or is it - from an ergonomic point of view - better to have a chair that can be set between 90° AND a little wider angle (but not a real standing help; you can't have all three options here, being a woman of 5"4 - 5"5.)?
