This performance sounds EXACTLY as the studio track. Amazing!
70 y.o....still running on empty. Feel 40; love this guy!!!
I was 17 in '69 just turned 67 and still running ...roads aren't for destinations they're for journeys
I'm so glad that Jackson Browne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He's one of the Best story tellers in music.
him, dylan, springsteen, knopfler, and many many more
How could he not be?
In 69 I was 21. Now I'm 70 and still lovin jackson Browne.
I was 14....loving JB. Still at 64
43 now in 2019 and love it
Cheers from Texas, Bill.
Me too. It always strikes me that Jackson and I are the same age. And I'm still groovin' to his great songs!
It's always great to hear and see the older folks that still enjoy a good classic rock song. At 38 alot of these bands were before my time but I grew up listening to all of them. Seeing this put a smile on my face thanks for this post I hope I have the same enthusuaism at 70 that you do . Again thank you.
He wrote this midlife crisis anthem when he was only 28. He nailed it big time!
Yep.
32 and I’m about where he felt when wrote this.
Graduating College finally not too long from now.
Scares the hell out of me.
One of the greatest lyrics (and song) of all time!
I think he was 16 when he wrote These Days, how did a person who was so young write a song with so much insight?
@@jonathanjohnson8656 Well, the Vietnam War made us grow up very quickly!...
"Midlife Crisis Anthem" 🤣🤣🤣
It's true though. 44 yrs old and this song is me.
In 65 I was born and have always loved Jackson Brownes story-telling songs, wish there were more singer/songwriters like him who sing from the soul❤
I'm 74 and this has been the song of my life!!
Thank God for a singer songwriter like Mr. Browne
Would you still say that if you knew what he did to Daryl Hannah in new york? Look it up
15 in 77 and this song feels like just yesterday.
Ah yes, brings me back to my younger years....
THANK YOU MR. JACKSON BROWNE FOR THE MEMORIES!❤❤❤❤❤
One of the greatest songs of all time... brilliant lyrics from a great artist
Jackson Browne~ One of America's, greatest singer/songwriters & a devoted environmentalist...Well done, Jackson!
Excellent Singer and Songwriter
He was married to an Australian woman and I saw him in the French patisserie in Cremorne 1 day.
Oh love his music too, but environmentalist is kind of a oxymoron isn’t it? His carbon foot print for his career is probably lots more than the ones they preach to just like a lot of other millionaires.
What a voice after more than 50 years!
Jackson had such messages in his songs. Such a great storyteller. I listened to one of his albums today. If you want to smile listen to Rosie.
This song will be playing at my funeral and i'll be singing my ass off too !
When my girlfriend now my wife would hear this song while drive my MGB. The gas gauge was stuck on empty and we would laugh as this song played. 40 years married and still running on empty. Play this on the guitar on the screened in porch by the pool. Bring back such memories. Thanks Mr. Browne.
+ Joe H. My spouse had an MG TD 1953 from 1953 until 3 years ago. Unfortunately, at the time, they didn't know anything about this song . But what a great song.
Aww
Excellent!
Thank you for sharing a snippet of your amazing life. It's what this world needs more of.
I bought an mg midget and I was telling someone how I loved my midget in Montgomery wards and there was a short person frowning at me when I turned around
Jackson Brown is so AWESOME!!! My senior year in High School our Civics teacher Mr. Holmes played Jackson Brown everyday!!! When he was teaching, we had to pay attention to him. As long as we were paying attention and not passing notes back and forth (that was 1973-1974 way before pagers or cell phones!!) So the last 30 min we could listen to Jackson Brown while we were doing our assignment, quizzes or tests, until class was dismissed. What great memories!!!😎
Hey That's Pretty cool Our AG Teacher At Live Oak in Morgan Hill let us Cowboys chee Tobacco
@@douglasstudeman5137 Alrighty then!! What did y'all do when you had to SPIT!!! LOL 😆 MY dad chewed and he kept a small paper cup by his chair (and carried it around the house, if he wss chewing) and a cup in his truck. He folded 1/2 of a paper towel for the very bottom (I assume to absorb liquid), I never asked cuz it grossed me out. Then he folded one and layed it on top, so he would lift that out when he spit and covered it back up! I'm thinking he did that at my mom's request!! LOL
Now that was a weird topic to talk about!! He quit several years before he passed away.
Where do you live?
I'm in Phoenix, Arizona.
We Had a Big coffee can that we spit in.we Just Had to Keep it Hidden from the Principal
@@debbihamiltonaz Hi Debbi Pond Hamilton where are you located? Iam in S.J. Temporarily ? Moving to Idaho Montana ?
Jackson Browne and the Eagles they just don’t make them like that anymore!
They lived next door to each other. And were all friends with Linda Ronstadt
soooooooooo agree!!!!
You are so right
They all started at the Trubodor club in LA...a breeding ground for excellent musicians in the 60's and 70's
Yeah, back when friends didn’t back stab and take others music. These were a band of friends that did it right and earned the rewards.
The absolute best driving song
Love this guy! This song is one of his best! Listened to him in high school, 1970s wow where did the time go! Where did all these great artists go! Sing on Jackson!
Yeah... you are so yeah... that's all I can say
@@Paul-ev7zy just what the hell does that comment mean????
Some may be gone? Not forgotten as long as we remember and listen to there music Teach our children what they mean to us try to instill there Value There music's impact upon us. But yeah Where has the time gone to and I hope some of our kids take heed and make music like this....
Timeless song!!! I never get tired of listening to songs that have real life meaning!!!
"Running into the sun but I'm running behind".... LOVE THIS SONG!!
I have always loved this song since the first time I heard it as a kid and I’ll be 51 soon.. timeless classic ❤️💕❤️💕
Angela Rael if i can get you to smile before i leave 😀😀😀
Incredible + The Pretender 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I remember hearing this in El Salvador.. even during our "political/civil war" it would take me away to a place of peace..
@@christinae.amaker5661 I am almost 72 still can relate
I sing it everyday. 65 year black man
I was 21 in 69 still love this song even at 70.
Great arrangement, great music and great solos. This is how music should be played and expressed...directly from the heart!!!
The sum of the pieces of this song is what makes it such a unique and enduring song.
I am a 65 year old widow, still loving this song! Haven't heard this in a while! Still love this!
My God he wrote some great songs!
I was 21 in 69, now l am almost 75. I had a 68 Z/28 Camaro and l was always running on empty.
This was a "classic" when I REALLY LISTENED in my teens during the 90s...I believed it spoke to me THEN ...Now, in my 50s,...I can admit I was clueless. Listening now, as I reflect on the experiences of my post-teen life (with nostalgia goggles) I think I understand Mr. Browne. Thanks for the narration!
Someone like Jackson Browne needs to live forever to create music like this for everyone to enjoy through the ages.
I am runnin behind, in 78 I was 21 but almost 62 now, we had the best music, still rockin! man time fly's,,,,,,,,,,,,
1977...19 yrs old. .wow time flies I am 56
+Rhonda Shilling Me too! Loved his music since I was 13.
I am sure you are still a virgin....
im 68 and still lovin it
Was 27 in 77, you do the math, lol. Still rockin'!
Rhonda Shilling Wait a minute, I was born in June, 1958, and I was 19yrs old in 1977, and this June, I will be 59yrs old. How can be 56yrs old? Sorry, but if you were 19 in 1977, than you are going to be 59 this year. Sorry, just a few years older isn't too bad, I am still listening to good music, and so are you. But I am running on empty though, so I think I will coast the rest of the way.
I remember this in my early teens now I'm 57 and still love this song
I will let the music speak for itself
Who doesn't love Jackson Browne
One of the greatest Rock anthems of all time. Such a phenomenal artist.
this song still gives me chills to this day..

ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER!! YOU CANT WRITE SONGS LIKE THIS UNLESS U HAVE LIVED AND BEEN THROUGH SOME SHIT IN LIFE! TAKES U BACK DOWN MEMORY LANE..THANKS MR BROWN YOU NAILED THIS SONG..👍😊

I never realized til later in life. How much of Jackson Browne's music was in my life's soundtrack.
The greatest song of all time by Jackson Browne
A timeless tune packed with fond memories. Good Lord I sure miss those grand ole' days!!!
They don't make em like they used to. At 60 I hit the road every chance I get. Great song for all generations.
I grew up on this stuff, I’m 57 and still love that REAL ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!
Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels -
Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields.
In '65 I was seventeen and running up 101
I don't know where I'm running now, I'm just running on ...

it just composed and put together masterfully
This song is definitely an instant classic 👏 ✨ 🔥 💯 🎵 👌 🙌
Thank you jackson 😘 💓 💖 💛 💗
Still alive at 71 and running against the VIRUS and bad Economic times; However, music from the past still gives me running with hope.
Jesus is coming soon !
I remember I was 13 years old when this song came out. I got played CONSTANTLY by the local radio station.
And it still is one of my all time favorite songs, no doubt

One of the best singer/songwriters of my time. Thank you Mr. Browne for your talent and inspiration ✌🎸
I am 👩🏫 older, too. Into my late 60s. Just listening to this song that just kills it makes me emotional. Damn great musicians.

one of the earliest albums I have ever bought. Had to save my pocket money for so many weeks. still has that album. and thanks to the Marines who funded part of my ticket (bought from scalpers) to allow me to see his concert a long time ago as well.
He's still got it after 27 years (that's how old this song was at 2004). I love this song! :)

crazy to think that 27 years ago now was 1995. here i am thinking of oasis
Hello sorry it was 2012, inductions 😮
1977 all over again
I was fortunate and feeling so blessed to have had the opportunity to witness Jackson Browne in concert last weekend (April 30, 2022) singing along side James Taylor in London - Ontario/Canada. These guys are true musicians and their supporting band - what can I say "SIMPLY AWESOME" "A musical treat which will be etched in my memory forever"!!
Luv duck 😊
We played this as the break away song on the US Navy replenishment oiler USS Wichita (AOR-1) I served on. 102 days in the Indian Ocean summer of 1980. Lost a CH-46 helicopter three of the four crew paid the ultimate sacrifice. Three aircraft carrier battlegroups waiting to see what would happen with the Iranian hostages. Just did our job no thanks needed.
I am74 and I still think he is the best
The first 3 songs in this show are like nukes. You start out with runnin on empty then you get handle with care then when you think it cant get better we get while my guitar gently weeps with EVERYONE! Its so amazing
To the 466 who gave Jackson a thumbs down....you are freakin idiots......nothing more to say to you. Thank you Jackson for over 50 yrs of sheer enjoyment. God bless.
After all these years, still a GREAT SONG!!!!
I remember listening playing this album so much I had to buy a new copy and still have it to this day, I also had a tape player in my car and blasting this tape all the time everything about Jackson Browne is beyond words, he is a fantastic singer song writer just love listen to every thing he does on UA-cam
Yeah. No auto tune, no drum machine , no crazy lights and flash pots, no dance moves for a showy spectacle, just really good music played by talented musicians ! Ah, the good old days! Showing my age I guess !
Saw him in concert several times. Great performer and seriously underrated. "Before the Deluge" is a classic song.

God, what a beautiful rock song!
Fuck yeah. This song, and the Album, defined my whole summer , and more. Running on empty. Brilliant.
Despite our age and our place in society, aren't we all runnin on empty? Happy travels, friends.
25 years ago I first heard this song. I love it as much today as when I first heard it. Thanks Jackson Brown !

Jackson Browne, was a very underrated singer and he put on one of the best live concerts bar none...he is in his own class and still to this day commands the audience's attention. Keep rolling Jackson Browne I didn't know that you co-wrote "take it easy" with Glen Frey...You are the man and a great vocalist and song writer!
We still love you so very much...Thank you for you, Jackson..

This song never gets old 🎵 👌 🙌
This was also the year Prince was inducted and I recall hearing that he was watching and digging this performance. Very cool I thought since he dominated the show that night.
I'm in my early 50s now, and I find myself running across music I don't give credit as influences in my life. "Jackson Browne is one of those musicians that sneak in as influences, and I will never change the channel on his music. Love "The Load Out and Stay Live" song especially.
"running empty" on that long dark jouney we call life !
I love Jackson Browne. There has never been a better lyricist born on the face of this earth!
Come on people
+Steve Bradshaw
He's great.
But, that's a big statement. I offer Neil Young, Paul Simon, John Lennon and Bob Dylan as potential contenders ...
Yes, there has, His name is Dezy Walls
Frank Zappa? Weird Al😳😂?
Steve Bradshaw Timothy Schmidt is a close second.
Still sounds good after all these years
I only listen to him occasionally his songs are depressing.
+Arhus Babcock Thanks for the update
CBDM777 Hah. Totally welcome.
I was at the Occidental College graduation (with my father, a prof Emeritus) in 2004 when Browne received his Honorary Doctorate for his work on social justice. He clapped for ever graduate who crossed the stage that day. It wasn't about him.
SO GOOD, GOLDEN AND HEART-RENDING! 😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍😁😁😁😁😁😭😭😭😭😭🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🛣🛣🛣🛣🛣🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🌇🌇🌇🌇🌇🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The entire album was recorded on tour, in dressing rooms, backstage, onstage and in hotel rooms so the whole theme of life on the road and travel permeates the album. The song itself “ Running On Empty” was written by Jackson Brown with the idea and song coming together on his drive to the nearby recording studio.
The Les Paul Junior has always been one of my favorite guitars despite the controversy they get from haters. I love mine. It’s so awesome to see one used in such an iconic composition!
💪🏼🔥
Finally.. I find a video (which is amazing) that when I scroll down at the comments. There is no hateful coward being a buzz kill. Keep it rocking Jackson Browne!

Jackson Brown, A Favorite of Mine!
And mine too
Kids today unfortunately won't ever know how our music made us who we 🙋
My soul has this song on repeat..
Was born in 64 in the UK but so much part of my life in the UK. Maybe strange but music crosses continents particularly where I grew up, in Glasgow.
Always filling my soul. Happy Birthday Jackson Browne!
Pure class ! This is timeless.
