    One thing pregnancy always shows me is that as a woman my acne is all hormonal. I can be the unhealthiest pregnant woman and won’t get a single spot on my face. However, i can be so strict cutting out sugar etc but I will STILL get acne when not pregnant. Tretinoin is helpful as is any supplement which dries out my skin such as Pantothenic Acid.
    Another thing hardly any doctors pick up on is that like high testosterone cause acne in women so can very low testosterone! Taking DHEA helped me tackle this.

    Dr Abs what do you think about Finnacea (15% Azelaic Acid) combined with Tretinoin?
    It helps a lot with infiammation and oily skin

    Excellent results! 😍 I've been using a compounded .025 tretinoin, spironiolactone, & tranaxemic acid for over a year now, seems to work ok...it hasn't been too transformative to my skin though...nonetheless I still use it. Does increasing the % make any difference? or is a bit more of the same thing not that useful? I wonder

    • @Dr_Abs
      @Dr_Abs  Місяць тому +6

      Tret in the long term kind of gives you the same result regardless of concentration really, so there's nothing wrong with 0.025 long term.

    How do you use squalane oil with tretinoin? Which do you put on first, and do you wait any length of time in between applying?

    • @Ann-xt9wx
      @Ann-xt9wx Місяць тому +1

      I use tretinoin first. Let it absorb for 20-30 mins then apply squalane oil.

    Hey, do you know what is a similar cream that I can buy in EU countries? I can only get tretinoin cream from a doctor if he writes me a prescription.

    Thank you, Dr. Abs. I have been using Tertinoin 0.025% for four years and I still can't use it every night since it makes my skin dry with mild peeling. Is it possible that not all skin types can use it every night? I know you don't recommend moisturizing the skin, but how do I help the dryness from this? I also use a glycolic acid cleanser every now and then but I can't use it on the same night as the Tretinoin or it will make my skin too dry.

    • @Dr_Abs
      @Dr_Abs  8 місяців тому +8

      By getting it to peel and then pulling back to only four nights you're your own worst enemy. It's starting to work but then you're not letting it by restricting the useage. Peeling means it's working so keep it up and go for more if you can. Don't stop because it's peeling. Use an oil like squalane to help dryness. From TheOrdinary its only a few dollars

      While I know this is the gold standard for acne and anti aging, most formulas have pore clogging ingredients such as isopropyl myristate. I have it a go and kept breaking out even as far out as 6 weeks.

      Yeah unfortunately there's no absolutely perfect chemical solution imo. That's why I talk about devices etc too. I'd say led and BBL are great alternatives

    when it comes to tretinoin, Is gel better than cream or is it the same?

    • @msolounias
      @msolounias 29 днів тому

      Gel tends to pill and is more drying. The cream is less drying and doesn't tend to pill under moisturizer. There is no superior form, it just comes to preference and skin type.

    What if you have rosacea? I'm scared to try tretinoin because even 0.3% retinol burns and stings.

      fixing diet helps alot. listing your triggers. like dairy,sugars and salycytes. moisturizer gels with no additives, alot of hydration, hormonal checkup, go to dermathilogist to get a shampoo. sulfur soap aids ME, and other people too, this one you should talk with your dermathologist.

    Whenever I try to use an exfoliant or retinol, it causes my eczema to flare up. Is that normal? I always take a pause and it takes forever for my skin to heal so I gave up.

    • @Jojorocks23

      Maybe try a moisturizer before. Coconut oil or The Ordinary may help. Start with 2 days a week. Good luck.

      Ultimate way to stop acne from my own experience:
      1. Don't eat dairy for a few months. Especially cheese.
      2. Pantothenic acid supplements.
      3. Simplifying your routine to gentle stuff and not trying new things whilst changing your diet.
      4. Reduce the junk food intake. Some snacks have lots of oils that cause acne.
      And that's how I'm now on the other side, acne free. And people don't believe I once really struggled

      Use a sulfer cleanser like PanOxyl - every day and let it sit for a few minutes - then rinse off - you can also apply to each burgeoning pimple and leave it there.
