This was actually the best video about skin and moisturizing it on the internet that I've seen in the past 5 years. The epidermis is just dead skin and I feel like he's right about our moisturizers not getting deep into our dermis. If you just review basic science, it tells you that the stratum basal is always creating new cells and there is 20 or 30 layers of our epidermis. How our skin cells work is the skin pushes up to the surface but by the time they get there they're dead because they're too far away from the blood vessels that give them the nutrients they needs. But these dead skin cells have keratin which makes it an impenetrable barrier. Our sebaceous glands only produce oil because oil protects our skin like a barrier. So maybe in essence, all we need is a skin barrier. When we wash away that oil that was our natural skin barrier. It feels like we've heard this before doesn't it . So maybe in essence, all we need is sunscreen ? Anyways, that's all I know... so just watch the video

For people wondering what to use, he criticises moisturisers that use hyaluronic acid, but many don't use this ingredient. My last two moisturisers, which I got before I discovered Dr Abs, didn't contain any anyway. He'd suggest using squalane, but there is also research showing petroleum jelly works well as well, so I think most of the moisturisers vaseline makes are good too

Isn't it's true as we age the body produces lower amounts of HA, which leads to dryer skin, and skin cells turnover slows down, which contributes to the lower HA? So if moisturizer is not necessary per the doctor, how do we increase the HA? So, evolution produced the most effective way to produce HA in the fibroblasts, but can we increase the amounts made to prevent dryer skin? BTW, the evolution of homo sapiens is still ongoing, trying to produce even better versions of ourselves. But we are blessed with consciousness, and we try to make up for shortcomings in our biological processes, or let's find a way to reverse aging. Either or.

Hyaluronic acid should come with instructions. I love HA, it makes my skin so plump and fresh, but I only use it with a face mister and then I lock it in with an occlusive cream or oil, depending on what I will do afterwards. It's just not the same without the HA + water mist.

My skin is very oily so I tried the oils and it just results in more oily skin. I like a matte look, therefore, I use this gel moisturizer that has Dimethicone, niacinamide, glycerin and vitamin b5. That works well to calm it down so moisturizers do work.

Hi, I’ve been living with Ichthyosis Vulgaris since childhood, and it’s been quite challenging. My skin is extremely dry and flaky, and if I don’t use a moisturizer consistently, the condition worsens. However, I’ve tried several marketed products, but none of them seem to work for a long time or provide lasting relief. The dryness and flakiness return quickly, and it’s difficult to manage. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to manage this condition more effectively. Are there any long-term solutions, treatments, or specific product types that you recommend to control the dryness and keep the skin hydrated without constant reapplication? Thank you in advance for your help!

Dr. Abs, can you elaborate on the kind of diet changes that you suggest for increased testosterone? I ask specifically because when I was researching the carnivore diet, I came across several threads on Reddit and elsewhere where a prolonged carnivore diet leads to an eventual drop in testosterone. What are your thoughts about this?

  • @Oakhearts

Ive been carnivore for 1 year now. Im healthy, i weight train, but my testosterone level is still low. 10.2nmol/l. Im 48, 5' 9". i weigh 13 stones from 16 stone 4.
