well explained Dr, watching from South Africa , thank you
Great content, as usual
Once you stop hydroquinone the hyperpigmentation comes back with more force. It’s not meant for brown skin. Lots of dermatologists are doing on this I hear.
Based on my experience hormone is tied to melasma. Once I treated low thyroid, taking iron and reducing mental stress specifically. My majority of hyper pigmentation went away.
Absolutely! The majority of our health problems come from diet issues in some way imo.
Why iron?
You actually reply to all questions...respect!! And great information too. Was wondering if your prescription would valid in Austria or not. Booking an appt anyways....
You're very welcome, yeah they can be sent to Austria too. Speak soon 🙂
Hi very nice and informative video nd i like the way u give ur precious time to people..i hv a q my daughter is ,11 year old she has freckles but its genetically i just want to know which sun screen is best for her as i dnt want to use nothing els ..we live in uk from last 1 year
I miss the old obagi soooo much !!!! Ugh!!!!!! The filter effect my skin had was divine!!!!! It was majestic and cured my skin when dermatologists didn't know what to do with my blk skin. I know the current formulations work as well BUT GOSH!!!!
Hi Dr. Abs! Thank you for these straight to the point short videos. Question - does the hyperpigmentation come back once you stop using the hydroquinone in the obagi line? Is it true the hyperpigmentation can come back worse once you stop using the hydroquinone? I have a great sunscreen I use and would prefer not to use the one with hydroquinone.
Alovera jel + neem
Can you show before and after on lipo surgical scars?
Great video Abs!
I've started using cream for my hyperpigmentation recently (Eucerin) and I can't believe how much of a difference it's made.
Thanks buddy! Eucerin (if it's the one I'm thinking of) has 4-n-butylresorcinol which is a really strong tyrosinase inhibitor like hydroquinone and I believe in a study a while back it showed comparable strength without the potential toxicity in high doses. Remember that once the pigmentation goes, you need to keep it away for life
@@Dr_Abs thanks for the info bud. Any tips on keeping the pigmentation away for life?
@@GregPreece Definitely! Look at something like Eventone by SkinBetter Science / Neostarta Enlighten Illuminating Serum / Medik8 Oxy-R Peptides etc. I Then layer with an SPF like Intradermology Synergy 6 / Neostrata Enlighten Skin Brightener SPF 35 etc. can prescribe any if you need :)
eucerin is very effective
Absolutely! Eucerin is very underrated and I think I'll be doing a video on it in a while.
I love your videos. Soon enough you’ll be a UA-cam sensation and rightly so
Thank you 🙏🙏
That’s deff the first hearing you swear 😂 we love a relatable doctor!! Keep doing your thing Doctor Abs.. always getting straight to the point 🙏
Thank you for the support!!
When do we start incorporating the vitamin c serum in the routine? After we get rid of the hyperpigmentation or during as I heard it cannot be used with other actives
Hi doc . I'm suffering from a lot of cystic acnes and white heads for the past 7 to 8 years . I was not able to get rid of that. I've purchased a ton of products . Have visited no of dermats . I couldn't see any results . My face is full of acne scars , new acnes and what not . I'm going thru this for many years . It has affected my confidence and mental health a lot . Can u pls help me get out of this painful cycle. 🙏🏻
Hi Dr A,
Please help me.
I have a large (flat)pigmented scar on my back caused by hot water scalding many years ago. What’s the best way to treat it? I’d like to lighten it…🙏🏾🙏🏾
Big love from 🇿🇦
Retoric question, but I just have to ask:
If You've had an event where you weren't using (enough) sun protection for a short time (20 mins), and the sun was so strong that say your neck got sun damage which resulted in redness and wrinkles:
Is there anything that can be done to reverse that deep damage to elasticity?
I’d like to see you in person for a skin consultation
Thanks, Dr. Abs! Question - I am 51 and have very minimal sun damage and no wrinkles since I have been diligent with sunscreen for at least 30 years. I have one small light colored spot on my cheek. To prevent more from showing up as I get older, do you recommend using the skincare systems you mentioned here or just continue with Tretinoin and sunscreen?
I'd carry on with tret and suncream. Maybe over time add some niacinamide powder into the tret and rub them in together. You can get it for very cheap from TheOrdinary
@@Dr_AbsThx for quick response and advice!
Hello, I'm Asian with hyperpigmentation on cheeks and around the eyes. My skin is so sensitive and sometimes just harsh cleansing causes more hyperpigmentation. I also have hyperthyroidism now on 75mg thyroxine
I'm in uk would you be able to help?
Do you want to make a video about Poikiloderma of Civatte?
TY
Does this work with melasma and birthmark on face ???
I use Dr. Obagi ZO Skin Health brand, an upgraded version and it works.
Hi Dr. I am in SA. I started by having dark circles under my eyes during a very stressful period and I thought it was the lack of sleep over the past 3months it has worsened. I have not formally been diagnosed but I have these symmetrical dark brown patches from the under eye area to the chiks and on the eyelids. Is it possible that the stress was a trigger? Or it was coming anyways. I am planning to buy the Skin functional for treatment or is it advisable to see a dermatologist first? Thank you.
There are many factors at play; not just sleep and stress. Id see a dermatologist if possible.
Thank you so much for the quick response.
What do recommend for dehydrated skin please?? Thank you much!!
Plenty of water, good oil on the skin and long term high strength vitamin A
What is your number 1 recommended oil?
@@Hazelgoble2015look into Bakuchi😊
@@Hazelgoble2015he always recommends squalene oil
I recently started a BioRePeel treatment for melasma at a Med Spa, is the Obagi Nu Derm more effective than chemical peels?
Baced on my understanding from his vedio, yes because peeling isn't a treatment
Now that’s what I call informative ❤
Thank you 🙏

After watching the video, I went on to Obadiah website to purchase the Nu-Derm kit. The website describe the Nu-Derm kit is for normal and dry skin type, but I have combination skin. Can I still use the Nu-Derm kit? Thanks Dr.!
Yeah you can still use it too 😊
Thank you@@Dr_Abs
Hi Dr
Hi
I got two tubes of Retin A 0.05 for $40 here in Canada
In Australia you can find 2% hydroquinone cream over the counter. Very cheap too.
How do you incorporate it into your routine?
@@larrissahar2250 from the manufacturer: Apply sparingly only into areas to be treated only twice daily and at bedtime. After desired fading is obtained use only as necessary to maintain results. Before commencing treatment, test for allergic reaction over 24 hours with small patch of cream on inside of upper arm.
Then apply your moisturiser or hand cream if you use one.
Avoid exposure to the sun. Use SPF 30+ sunscreen on any exposed areas.
Tip as suggested by dermatologists: if you have sensitive skin then start treatment at night only, using every second night for a week, then proceed to use every night for a week and then begin to use morning and night and as directed.
For external use only

LPP cure plz?
I have some hyperpigmentation on my knuckles also on my toe knuckles and around my ankles. I tried using the oridinary’s gycolic acid for quite some time now but I feel my skin has started to appear even darker. Any suggestions?
Glycolic acid isn't a tyrosinase inhibitor
According some Biologists is too much Cortisol or Serotonin in the body
Sir can I use kojisen soap for my pigmentation
You can, but results with be minimal. It may have good ingredients in, but they will struggle to penetrate as well as traditional skincare considering that it will be immediately washed away.
Pls how can I get the product I'm in Cameroon
I'm not sure it's available there unfortunately. You'll probably need to buy it from another country when you visit and take it back with you
Can we use it during Summer Time ? Thanks
Sure
@@Dr_Abs thank you 🙏
Suggest some ingredients which are pregnancy safe too :(
It's a tricky one but I believe Meder have pregnancy safe products
@@Dr_Abs thank you :)
Cyspera isn't working for me. It is so expensive. I have tried so many things it's sad. My question is, if you have facial hair, will Obagi work? Also, if you do sugar waxing, will that hinder it from working? I know a product line that targets hyperpigmentation and permanently removing facial hair. But I'm trying to weigh all options for the next product I try.
Have a look at the video I made recently about thiamidol
Cosmetic surgery such as Lazer procedures could be an effective and viable option although these tend to be relatively expensive, OTC ingredients to help with skin brightening include but are not limited to,
Alpha Arbutin, kojic acid, tranexamic acid, retinoids, vitamin C, niacinamide, azelaic acid, licorice root extract, mequinol, resorcinol, N- a
Acetylglucosamine, Bearberry Extract, Mulberry Extract, Papaya Extract, Saffron Extract, Cysteamine, Ellagic Acid, Gigawhite, Soybean Extract, Tumeric, Oligopeptides, Ginseng, Peony extract, Methoxxyphenl Decanome, Sepiwhite, Vitamin E, Green Tea Extract, Rosehip Oil and Daisy Flower Extract
Ultimately OTC topicals may not be of much assistance in severe cases and dematological assistance may be required but I'd advise you to stick with using the aforementioned active ingredients in your skincare routine to help with brightening and inhibiting melanin production, the specific ingredients I'd recommend the most are Alpha Arbutin, Kojic Acid, Tranexamic Acid, Vitamin C, Retinoids, Azelaic Acid, Niacinamide and licorice root extract.
Cyspera didn't work for me either and I've seen alot of reviews recently where others said the same. It was a waste of $
Your audience in Hong Kong here (Brit tho) pays GBP 12 for Ketral……😅 no prescription needed , what can I say…. I even get ozempic OTC 😅
Hahaha, Doctor Abs with the bleeps!
Got carried away while recording lol
@@Dr_Abs Haha. the passionate Doctor
Why is hydroquinone banned in Europe?!
It’s not, I can buy it online at 4%. here in Bulgaria. Anything higher then I get it from my dermatologist. It just depends on the country, some can still buy it 2% over the counter.
Yes interested to know budget products pls advised... 3yrs suffering from melasma used many products now lost hope.. Instead of healing it's becoming worst day by day.. 😅😂
Hard to say with certainty without seeing the skin but a combo of vitamin A, pigment inhibitor, SPF, Sciton BBL could be a good bet
What if you're pregnant? Tretinoin and Hydroquinone 😢
You should avoid them
Are you Indian?
Yes
@@Dr_Abs then pls suggest some indian brand... which is easily available in Indian market
Ok he’s just a salesman. now the remedies for most people trying to take care of there life and have to be careful with how they spend there money. I don't know whether he is getting paid or not but All his videos seem like ad's of products.
So, a recommendation is an advert now?
Not sure if it true, there is only 99 likes be no space in your calendar for 2 moths seems fishy lol
There is space next week - learn to read the webpage properly would be my advice.
that background music is sooooo annoying! i couldnt hear anything
I love you, but, respectfully, if you’re carnivore, and consume no fried foods or seed oils, and also get morning sun daily, you build resistance to the damaging effects of the sun and should not need sunscreen, unless you are out in the hot part of the day four hours.🫶🏽
Respectfully, that's one of the most ridiculous claims I've ever heard.
Respectfully, that’s total bolox!
