The Largest Battle In Bannerlord History? A Gigantic Mass of enemies surround our Capital City

- Maybe it's not the largest battle ever, but it's HUGE FUCKIN' battle. Strap yourself in, get a cold beverage and enjoy the carnage...
Welcome back future Khans, Emperors, Jarls and Sultans of Calradia! We're continuing to show our late-game campaign including huge battles, and winning(most) of these battles by deploying advanced tactics to overcome superior enemy forces. Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.
Shortly after repeated, massive battles and an onslaught against our capital, Epicrotea, we face an enemy army coalition of almost unheard of size... Can we hold back the flood?
Please comment, like and subscribe if you're interested in more of my ultra-late-game campaign, that may end up ending in utter despair, but that's the challenge of it. Any challenge where success is assured is no challenge at all.
My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.
Join me on this adventure if you like huge battles, the use of advanced tactical maneuvers and intense Bannerlord gameplay, and subscribe to my channel if you want to follow along. This campaign is very lightly modded:
For my main, death-match campaign, I only use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)
www.nexusmods....
Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...
www.nexusmods....
I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:
steamcommunity...
I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Telling about historical battles during these large battles is really entertaining, great add
Thanks! I've been doing this more and more with good encouragement and it just feels necessary with SUUUUCH long battles.
We need these in school @@HeadlessHorsemanProductions
They got fed up with you. This is ever evil villain gang getting together to take down a single hero
It's never going to stop, which is why it's fun...
This one was great! Back to school for me, so I’ll be living the bannerlord experience through you once again. Keep it up!
School first, play second, I get it. Cheers - I have a heavy slate of episodes coming out in the upcoming weeks. Hope it satiates your blood lust! :)
I like it how the only active scirmisher is your king. I stand corrected 15 min in
Man great battle, had some good suspense for a change. All the battles I've seen so far you clearly had well in hand, this one you were almost constantly on the Brink of getting steamrolled
Much of the campaign has started to head in this direction. Not sure if we can survive, but it's going to be hella fun trying!
Imagine 2-sided war... all of calradia along with maybe Battania vs Everyone else. Then they bring their troops to one battle. 20k vs 20k. Imagine a two hour long battle for the world
If it's going to happen, it will happen in this campaign. Eight Kingdoms all piling troops up against our small Kingdom, but it's getting brutally hard...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Well, good luck. You feeling well? Your voice sounded a bit raspy in the intro (maybe nothing, just wanted to check)
@@JugglingJuggalos Just a head cold. I also tend to be raspy when I wake up - my wife LOVES it lol, but hope it's not too harsh for you guys.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Not at all, just wanted to check
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions what do you genuinely think would save your kingdom in this sort of situation, without taking prisoners
Im surprised to not say or be like "Where is Grouchy?!?! I need those men!!!"
Nice battle tho, hope you are victorious.
We need them all! lol
Omg what a massive army !
"There nothing we can do"
Lol nice cut away at the end. You got me!
Just didn't feel like guys might watch the entire 90 minute brawl, so I cut it and had to do it somewhere :D
Im always amazed by how easily you seem to be able to understand the state of a slugfest. Like at 30:00, a couple units snuck by but I couldnt realize it was that bad
Easier once you have fought several dozen battles over 4000 troops... I MISS a lot though too
Any time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to play bannerlord!
I hope that's a good thing! Some people get tired easily with Bannerlord, but if you embrace tactics and the sheer beauty of battle and all it's strategy and moving parts, it's a great game!
Dude this is so cool, I’m really thankful you’re making this content. I sometimes watch the episodes while I’m eating dinner, the commentary is great and you’ve actually gotten me into checking out Napoleon stuff. Well played, good sir 🫡
Thanks mate, I'm just a massive Napoleon fan, and that of history and war leaders in general - so happy to add more commentary and little historical tidbits. Not a history master, just an enthusiast - and honored to be part of your dinning routine. Cheers!
This battle felt more like a siege than an open battle. With the bridge being the gate and you just holding onto it
Yep, same feeling when I played it.
19:18 when you have highest level troops first selected, your troops come first by tier, but second by position in the party. So if you keep your fian champions at the top of your party list, they will be all sent first, leaving only the tier 6 cav after
Yeah I've since learned to use homogenous priority...
King zuvan, against all of calradia! So epic 😮!!! Thank you very much Zuvan!!!
You're welcome, both a pleasure to play out and command, and a pleasure to share.
Man, I recently found your channel through a tip on reddit. Immediately hooked by the quality and unique content you provide. I've learned so much from you already! I've been a usual 3 divisions, f1,f3 tactician, but now I have 7 divisions and just beat the ai who outnumbered me 2-1! Thanks so much, and you have my support! 😊 Greetings from Norway.
Stoked you find it helpful(and entertainment) for these are my main two goals. I've always felt tactics were at the foundation of what's great about Bannerlord and I'm super excited to share this with more fellas. Glad it's working brother, and from almost the other side of the planet. Cheers, Norwegian!
"Just need to kill 3-4 to 1, k/d." Yeahh... yeahh? Hahah i wish thats just it lol
@@micdrop7029 its going to get worse before it gets better
The Russian retreat is what made Marshall Ney a legend his rearguard action saved the what was left of the Grand Army and what was left of their families. He's my favourite general of the Napoleon Wars the dude was amazing except for the Waterloo calvary charge.
No shit, the rearguard action is absolutely FUCKIN' legendary.
This is art of War my brother !
Yeah! Total carnage and chaos and yet there is an order and a plan behind it...
2:06 they also starve in castles, altough its usually less necessary since garrisons are much smaller in castles
Whenever I have over capacity I donate the extra troops to lords in my army so they don’t desert
Great videos man!
Danke
These are sooo addicting to watch!!
Stoked you think so bud, more coming, you know it!
Love watching you give free permanent dirt naps!
Then you're in luck, ahaha! Thanks!
beautiful battle i like how you switch out the two archer corps to conserver ammo and keep stacking bodies. but also their audio cut from 15:37 to 17:14 I couldn't hear anything
I think this is a copyright thing by google, sad face. Some songs are effectively banned and it mutes it so the video doesn't have to be taken down... This video isn't even monetized, sheesh...
If I recall correctly "Don't fire until yiu see the whites of their eyes" came from the Swedish during the 30 years war. The Sweds didn't have the men or supplies to slug it out with larger armies so they needed to rely on shock tactics, marching through enemy vollies, firing a few point blank vollies of their own, and using their superiority in melee to break the enemy.
More recently it was attributed to the US Revolutionary war, but yeah, always something worthwhile to mention from history - thanks for the added enrichment!
They also had elite infantry compared to the less experienced infantry they fought against. And a lot of the enemy infantry were trained in using muskets and could have had little to no experience in an actual melle
Excuse my French but that’s a fucking lot of men
c'est beaucoup d'hommes HAHA!
This pops up for me to watch as a 2000 man army is sitting at my doorstep I’m a new kingdom so I only have roughly 300 and my garrison of 150. Elite 8th hold me down!
Damn hard challenge that early in a campaign!!
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions cause of your vids I can defend castles just fine but open field combat trying to win battles is harder
See the white in their eyes caroleans are marchin on!
Not the cliffhanger ending! How could you? Can’t wait for the conclusion!
Haha, don't worry, I won't do this often, this battle was just sooo long, it seemed like a good idea...
I started my kingdom in sturgia Varnovapol and executed the king of vlandia about 4 times and every noble they sent to me. They went from 10000+ strength down to 8856 and I am now fighting for my life against the empire Khuzaits vlandia and sturgia. I suck at tactics so I usually just lead them to a settlement and send troops since my perks are good but it’s gonna take a loooong time to branch out from sturgia’s side since my companions’ clans are so small
Tactics, like anything, is improved slowly over time. I think you'll find TREMENDOUS feelings of accomplishment when you defeat a huge enemy force with the use of your brawn AND your brain. our channel can help, but if you're content, do whatcha want! :)
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions yeah I’m about to binge ur vids so I can protect Omor rn
@@sfx_mal If you haven't seen the siege guide, it can help a lot...
look at Napoleon holding back the entire Calradian Coalition!
Very much how it feels, and while he could have had peace too and lived happily ever after(and chose not to), neither will we. NO QUARTER FOR THE CRAVEN!
6:06 you sure they cant? With a good enough choke I feel like they can shred trough them. Dont forget they do pick up arrows from the ground
Never SURE I guess, just seemed likely...
Probs to the guys, who need to clean that mess up…
Its very nice that they do all that automaticly and just give you all the loot nicely at the end
yeah imagine the real thing... Probably put a lot of them in the river...
How do you recommend going about selecting army composition? do you have past videos on this? currently over indexed on horse archers & can definitely feel some constraints
Also the cliffhanger was such a tease lol
If you're playing Khuzait I would go 30-50% horse archers, 10% heavy cav, 25%-35% archers, 10% infantry.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions thank you my liege
@@rampart236 Hahaha, I'm an egalitarian, so how about we leave it at thank you mate, and you're welcome brother.
3:22 I cracked seeing the lord tab
You can hear me laughing too, this was insane...
Release them to gain relationship then bribe them into joining your kingdom? Or chop chop …
I haven't recruited any nobles into the Kingdom in many years. Chop chop might be interesting, lol, more heads to mow through than the peasants revolt...
10:53
Andrew Jackson, Battle of New Orleans
Nice catch and reference.
Woah 10k... Definitely the largest amount of troops I have ever seen... I do have a question tho! With which mod(s) do you make Lords of different kingdoms swarm together at Epicrotea like that? I have never managed to do that.
My campaign is kind of made-up. My enemies(and allied lords) ask for peace all the time, and I refuse. We've been at war now for a few decades. Enemy Kingdoms are now MUCH larger than mine, as we only have 2-3 cities and 2 castles left. So the enemy swarms our cities and castles with so many armies, they seem to be loitering outside the city.
It would be very hard to recreate, or at least take a lot of time.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Crazy lol, never seen this AI behaviour ever. Great series!
@@Tanawat Neither had I until I was down to 2-3 cities and fighting massive Kingdoms for two decades.
Great video great everything. It just the music is a bit loud.
Yep, still working on the right music balance. I've also had copyright messages from music that before was copy-right free, so the music may even be removed from some episodes. Glad you enjoyed it!
how do your missiles go through shields btw? is it a perk or smth
Yes. It's the trowhing 250 top perk impale
Yep
bro kicked his horse lol 6:57 w vids
loloool, love doing that
I watch u every time I lose 💀
Did you check out the tactics episode I released earlier? It may be helpful(or you may be much more advanced): ua-cam.com/video/vC9BbRn6I4Y/v-deo.html
Its a good job this game doesn't have a stamina system for troops. That would be next level.
Yeah but I do get fatigued lol
3:10 ratio doesn't seem like overwhelming odds compared to some other videos you've put out. Does the sheer amount of nobles coming in have anything to do with it?
Its also only 1 to 3 ods basicly. In terms of raw ods its not that bad. The big problem would be that it can be hard to get your reinforcements into the battle without losing units, and you often lose a bunch of troops doing it.
Won't say it's the hardest battle I've ever fought(that one is coming), but certainly the largest.
if i suffered that many losses from the enemy i would retreat. now way would i continue to let my men get slaughtered like that... but i am daring so i got no chance
The enemy in my campaign acts possessed. Of course it's been non-stop war for 25+ years...
I feel like you win this battle. As a guess, I estimate around 7k killed with maybe 1200 lost? Thats what it felt like (I obviously didnt count). Im curious to see hoe far of I was
No spoilers from me but you obviously have a great eye and watched very closely...
what happens if you retreat a division when they run out of ammo. will the reinforcements of this division stop comming too?
No, you can retreat/reload, but a lot of players consider this an exploit...
You could have retreated so you could replenish your ammo
I never do that. Too many guys I know consider it an exploit but it also really breaks the immersion of the battle. Thanks though for pointing that out to the fellas who may not know this.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I don't especially if you have many archers, skirmishers and/or cav. Hit and run tactics
how the hell are there so many lords
Getting swarmed towards the end of a death-match campaign, our little Kingdom against all of Calradia. We have 2 or 3 cities and 2-3 castles, so the enemy doesn't have enough places to attack so they attack all over and heavily when they do.
I can defeat that army with ctrl+altf4 😂
lets say you have to choose troops from one culture, which one and why?
Battania FOR SURE. Best archers, which dominate the battlefield, EXCELLENT infantry, which also help dominate, all three kinds of infantry, Wildlings are ELITE and their cavalry suck, but at least they have Javelin cav, which is excellent.
Play total war rome
I did back when I was your age, it's been a while, but maybe down the road. I remember tactics were heavily involved.
you swear too much so i stoppped wathcing after 5 mins
just realised thats a full raw commentary, fair enough man
Potty mouth from 30 years in the fire service and military. But I understand if it turns you away. The freedom of choice is our greatest asset.
10:00 a comment on shoot when you see the white of their eyes! In the comic wizard of id they said when they was beaten: what are the odds that enemy was out party last night their eyes was red!?! 🤪🤣👍
How about don't shoot until you can see their chins lol
me instanlty after seeing 10k troops : alt + ` config.cheat_mode 1 + ctrl+alt+f4
LOL naaah let's go! When it's your chance at glory especially on a video game always fight right!? 💯
