Some background info: this was completely written by The Rev. It sounds like a Tim Burton movie because a member of Danny Elfman's old band Oingo Boingo arranged the strings. The Rev also based the song around the verses of Oingo Boingo's "Nasty Habits". The female vocals in the studio version are Matt's actual wife, The Rev sings them here, and the preacher in the studio version is Ville Valo from HIM, Zacky sings that part here.
Are you sure it’s Val doing the female parts?? I’ve see the DVD of them making it, it seemed like they had that extra girl do it. The one who did dear god, I’m talking about.
Riksta 09 Matt’s wife didn’t do the vocal parts to this song. There’s a behind the scenes video on the making of the song and the female who sang that part wasn’t her. I don’t even know how that rumor started.
just a youtube commentator yeah I was sure that’s what happened, she was a country singer I believe but I’m not sure of her name. The rumour may have started because of how often the girls were in the studio with them or just because she did at one stage sing wth them but it was extremely brief and occasional to my memory

At 2:22, it says "Buried Alive (live in the LBC)" and "Save Me (Live in the lbc)" but neither of those songs were played there

I agree!. I love this video. They sound phenomenal live. But, I think the first time should be the official video. If you do n't know the song a lot can be lost. That's why he says there is almost too much going on. It takes the video or rewatching it to catch everything going on.

I really like your comment about Johnny christ. He's a passive guy (i don't know if that's how to describe him). But I found his bass skill really awesome. You're right, he keeps the entire song alive most specially on the part where guitar is not on the play. Only few notices him.

Talented group of guys for sure. They study and listen outside the genre they play and then mix in elements. Gates studies and plays jazz. The Rev was a hip-hop fan. And they give great live shows. I would love to see them again.
For Buried Alive and Save Me I recommend the studio versions. And if you don't have the album already, The Stage is fantastic!
Gates also grew up playing and studies Classical, Baroque and Avant Garde, it's why he is known as the music theorist in the band as a running joke 😂

Yeah I saw the live first and love the song. If I clicked on the music video I probs would have bailed within 30 seconds
This really showcases The Rev and Synyster's love for Oingo Boingo and Mr. Bungle, in fact two former members of Oingo Boingo wrote the strings for this song. Jimmy and Brian had a Goblin Rock band when they were really young called Pinkly Smooth that sounded very similar to this. Being a hardcore A7x fan myself, you learn how dedicated most of their fans are, its a pretty cool thing and they're really dedicated to their fans. It's a very cool, unusual thing I think. Having said that, they have a lot of hate in the metal and rock community. Then again so did Metallica when they wrote the black album and cut their hair.

It went way out past the edge lol. It was the revs genius behind the whole song. Watch the video, it will make sense to you. Then you’ll see how far past the edge it goes lol

For years every single time I've heard this song I've wished it would be adapted into a live action film. It's so Danny Elfman maybe that's why? It's got such a rock opera sound and I love it.
This is why I wanted you to watch the video for this first and then react to the live version. If you watch the video you can tell what the song is about and how off the wall it is and hear all of the seperate instruments

What a nice man to listen to, honestly. Most people who react to stuff are a little too much for me, but this seemed so genuine, and educated (if that's how you say it in English). Also the tone is pretty soothing which, again, not common in reacts.

It reminded me of my first time listening to the stage album from avenged sevenfold. you should listen to it on your own it'll help you to really pick it apart. Not to mention you get guitar solos out the ass on it doesn't hurt the experience at all. You have good night man.
They were in their prime there, no mistakes, the microphones on the drums were perfect as well. I sometimes listen to the whole fucking thing, pure greatness for my ears! On top of that we get to see how amazing The Rev was, singning also playing fast pace drums. Fans loving the concert, were in on it when Matt told them to. The best live concert ever man. Some cant play the shit or even sing live, but this, holy fucking shit

I'd love to see your reaction to the live Nightmare performance with Mike Portnoy on drums. He compliments it nicely and kept things going for them when the Rev left.
The Rev could write an entire album, record a full demo by himself on drums and piano with his own vocals, and sing while playing all his drum parts without a single mistake.

Have you ever reacted to or listened to Skillet? They're a Christian metal band with a great drummer who takes second vocals in so many of their songs. Awake and Alive, Not Gonna Die and Hero are three amazing songs.

METAL BIKER DUDE! if you think there is such a thing as TOO TECHNICAL...you should check out some blotted science. it will melt your brain, all instrumentals, so effin good, the more complex just means it doesn't get "stale" as you stated in a previous video since you won't catch everything the 1st time.
