He'd be a legend now if the current country music establishment would recognize and continue to build on its roots. Instead, they move in the direction of the big money, and we get over produced garbage like Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line shoved down our throats.
A young person who sings jimmie Rodgers, much less a Canadian who sings jimmie Rodgers. Wow, hats off, most Americans dont know who he is. Jimmie is the real father of country. Seeing people who still know who he is and sing his songs gives me hope.
I am so happy to have discovered this treasure. Please stay pure. Don't fall in with the riff raff and go long not fast. What a massive talent and natural ability he has. Wish you 80 years of musical joy for you and your future fans. I am blown smooth away by this sound.
Wow! If my dad was still alive, hed's be freaking out right now! He'd say something like, "Now, this is what I call music" or "Why don't you and your band play music like this instead of that NOISE you make?" God, I miss that man. Waylon & Willie on Sunday mornings. Frankie Lane after a few beers... Life is surely different these days. Thank you Colter for the nostalgia.
I love this song, part of our living history. Colter's voice is as real as the earth, rocks, trees and trails from which this song sprung. Now consider this, he is only 21.
i got this ol diesel wound up, running til the the morning comes round. and this song keeps the wheels hot. Mr colter, u got a number one fan here. Lord mercy don't stop!
In a rare event, my life was made better by discovering the music of Colter Wall about 2 months ago. Not normally a genre I listen to, and I’m glad I came across this legend-in-the-making.
I'm from the South West part of Virginia pretty close to the Kentucky and Tennessee line my grandmother woke my mom and her sisters up by singing this song every day and really right now I mean really leaning into that hillbilly accent and finishing it with a yodel that could break glass so glad to see someone doing a cover of at these days
You can tell by the yodeling, he's really enjoying himself during this. Puts a smile on my face every time. Cheers to him for bringing ole JR back to life
I love utube. I keep finding new talent! Love this guy. Plus he's playing a guitar like mine. Of mine is pretty beat up. It's 70 years old. It sounds beautiful.
If you take a listen to Rambling Jack's version you can truly hear the way colter pays tribute to his hero . Outstanding artist . Always have been , always will be .
Saw him in Toronto. Top rate talent. Pat Lyons and Solly Levine, Jake Groves and Jason Simpson are possibly the greatest band play together I have ever seen
Hahaaaaaaa!!!!! colter wall singing a song i have only heard dolly sing. Now i gotta go look for that version. Love when she says hey heyyyyy lil water boy wont you throw that bucket downnnn. What a fun song!
Hey does anyone have the exact lyrics for that versions he's singning? I'm a french canadian and altough im fairly good in english i feel there's some type of slang or cultural thing going on in the song and lyrics would really help me understand & appreciate the song 100% Thanks if ever!
You can literally see his hand position for 90% of the song...if you can’t tell what chords he’s playing from this video then you aren’t good enough to play the song.
Not bad but it's missing the hillbilly jazz of the original tune by Jimmie Rodgers or the upbeat pep of the bluegrass version by bill Monroe, it's definitely missing something
If Colter Wall had shown up in the 60's or 70's he would be a legend today. No doubt about it.
He is going to be a legend in the 2040's
Every generation needs a legend ... how about the 2020's! Man-oh-Man Alive he is something else and SOOO young!
He'll be a legend of his generation but I get what you mean Jason!
He's a legend anyhow in my mind

You’re right. I’m 28 and love Jimmie Rodgers. Good ol brakeman train songs
Wilf Carter was from Canada if I'm not mistaken
Country music of the twenties and thirties in general I miss the yodeling cowboys
Colter's falsetto is unexpectedly soft and beautiful
Josh Barela I so agree - A Canadian treasure being shared with the West✨💚🕊✨❤️🕊✨

My late father would have loved his voice........pure old fashioned country...dang fine!!
My big bottle of Bourbon, a big cigar, ripping camp fire, slight chill to my back, Colter singing Mule Skinner Blues, it don’t get no better!
My life is so much sweeter with you in it Colter!!
i got this ol diesel wound up, running til the the morning comes round. and this song keeps the wheels hot. Mr colter, u got a number one fan here. Lord mercy don't stop!

Great voice - what a talent.

This song was featured on KXCI 91.3 in Tucson
I would love to hear Colter cover some more Jimmie Rodgers.
Nice job Colter, Love Jimmy
great artist no doubt
Damn.
Hell yeah
Nice !
They must play this song different up in Canada than the way we play it down here in the south
gold
Why am I reminded of the movie Mars Attacks when I hear this song.
If Louis L'amour played guitar......,
Luther Hawkins - Nailed it.
Spot on..
Nice!!!
Colter is one bad ombre
Amazing! What kinda picking/strumming is Colter playing at 0:48 - 0:50?
That's the shot.
🔥
🤔 Very interesting man
🖤✌
Even the high notes are in baritone 😂

🎉🎊👍🏻🇳🇴
He reminds me of Jeff Buckley in a strange way ...Old Dark Country style!!
beyond the great voice and guitar, I think its the side to side head shakin'
If?
Chords?
Seems like modified Cs and a cup le Ds
You can literally see his hand position for 90% of the song...if you can’t tell what chords he’s playing from this video then you aren’t good enough to play the song.
I think it’s G7, C, Then D7

My favorite version is the stompin tom connors one haha
What kind of guitar is that
Martin
He has acquired an early 30s Martin 0017 but I don’t know if this is it
This is a great version but bill monroe and dolly are tied for first, in my opinion.
Lmao what a joke
