I miss the go monster high everything was better about them the outfits movies charecters just everything but then it got ruined by a bunch of reboots
Out of all the changes, making Torelei an “elite” is the most offending; she had a great backstory as a juvie alleycat given a second chance at Monster High. At the very most, make her the principal’s adopted daughter, rather than retcon her story entirely just to make a second mean rich girl. Cleo already got that covered, friend or not.
And Nefera, unless they got rid of her as well

Torelei’s backstory made her more understandable and relatable. And monster high made her an antagonist who you could also sympathize with
I wouldn't mind the new characters as much if they were new characters. They should have just made them completely new characters, maybe like a new class in MH after the other girls graduated, instead of trying to completely rewrite the OG characters

I wish this video went more in depth with what is really happening to the voice actors, because of the way it's present, the way it's now is really ambiguous and sounds a lot like the VAs are fishing for attention because of a backlash on the brand. But I know fandom culture and I know they're being attacked, is just the video that doesn't paint the full picture
It's like the situation with the current Sonic VA. He's a great actor, but the content he has been given to voice has been utter shit. As such, a lot of people hate him as Sonic.
And the sad thing is, we know how good he can be with good writing. The Sonic Boom TV show kills it!
Its so upsetting how people are attacking the Voice actors for doing their job. I thought Monster High was about accepting each other for their freaky flaws, but it seems like some fans didnt get the memo
Exactly! What I loved most about Monster High is that it really felt like a safe space for people to grow, change, and be kind. Monster High was different than any other doll line because it really got to the root of why people may be unkind and how we can change that.

I really hope the "adult" show doesn't deal with heavy topics like those stupid Netflix reboots. The reason I like "kids'" shows is because they're intriguing without having to deal with adult topics. I honestly hope it's more teen oriented too, because shows anymore are either for kids or jump to adults which is stupid.
Frl it should be like Stranger Things it’s both for adults and teens. Hell even kids watch the show with their parents.
Yeah I'm especially worried they're gonna do what netflix did to winx, which ended being complete garbage that was attempting to feel edgy and dark but really just felt like off-brand riverdale

Yes! The people who are angry at this are adults and i haven't seen teens and kids getting angry at this, i love the new reboot designs although not dark or stuff like that but it shows the clothes that teens and kids use these days (me having a same aesthetic as the new Frankie) that's why there going to do a grown up ver, and just like it says "gen 3" this is for a new generation of teens and kids not the same people of gen 1

I'm not thrilled for the changes that Mattel have given on MH but, this is really disheartening to hear that people are hating on the voice actors without even giving them a chance. They worked hard on this series and it makes me feel horrible for what happened to them. Monster High is all about acceptance, if you send hate towards the people that woked hard on this project that just undermines the lessons and values the series is about.

Agreed blame Mattel not the actors they are just doing their job they were hired for. I hope this 2 series is true cause that would make a lot ppl happy but if they only expect the adult collectors to buy extremely overpriced expensive dolls on Mattel Creations they’ll get more hate. 1) not everyone can afford 2) they are increasing hard to get which leaves so many disappointed and disheartened. They couldn’t even restock creeproductions! The ONE thing they did right so far
@@ASurfgirl - The people making these dolls are just doing their job too. Also Mattel is letting Nickelodeon’s CEOs have a lot of say in this which is the last thing anyone should. That’s why Winx Club got more kiddifed and why Miraculous was almost destroyed in the US. Nick just hates girl powered shows if it’s not live action.
@@Goleon Mattel is making these dolls a multi billion dollar company if they want to stay in the game they need to keep ppl happy or it will be 2016 all over again. Unless they really step up with the quality and creativity I don't see them doing well in the current market considering with their competitors are putting out. These are simply too different to get the attention of casual OG fans so they are gonna have to really try and get the attention of a new market to succeed.
@@laraprisma6381 It’s not close minded to say this reboot will most likely fail like the last reboot.. Mattel seemed to miss the mark again. The cutesy family friendly look backfired and killed MH in 2016.. So it’s pretty fair to assume it’ll happen again..
i dont hate them but they're def missing the "edge" that endeared children to them so much in the first place. back in the 2010's if they wanted girly or even just non goth or emo dolls, they'd just buy bratz or barbie... now monster high also has to compete with rainbow high, shadow high, & omg & more? which also have slightly edgy dolls that look similar to this reiteration of mh? yeah i dunno, i think the og designs were pretty much perfect so i dont understand this choice, 2000-early 2010's fashion is in now, the og dolls still would've been popular with children today.
the best way to update them would've been to add more lgbt characters, get cultural characters right & redesign those, more body types etc etc. that'd stay really true to what mh is all about & appeal to a wider audience... instead they just uh, made them look like dolls for toddlers i guess? even if they do continue mh w the og cast designs, i just think it sucks & is very telling of what nick thinks kids like when this is their vision of what mh is
edit: ok honestly i've warmed up to them a bit more now. im still not 100% on the fashion but im not gonna pretend gen 1 mh was 100% gothic and stuff, i just think i prefer it a little more & think the fashion should be edgier & darker, maybe today's tweens will like gen 3 fashion more though like what do i know
Reading the character bios, it seems that the new Monster High is drawing very heavily from Greek mythology. While I love Greek mythology (I'm named after a Greek princess), what I loved about the original series is that it drew inspiration from ALL kinds of lore and mythology from all over the world.
The dolls are cute, if a little childish looking.

I really wish people wouldn’t go and bully the voice actors, especially over something they haven’t even seen. I’m personally very open and excited for this new reboot. OF COURSE the originals will always be better, but I wanna see what the brand has to offer now. Up until now, I love Clawdeen.

I’m ngl I’d barely call this a reboot. It’s barely the same series..? Besides the names and “monster school” motif. It’s not at all the same. They’ve changed the characters completely and the whole story. At least the 2016 reboot still felt like MH in a way and kept the characters the same mostly.. this feels like some alternate universe MH..

Ik, it's a new gen and all but when characters stray away from the source material a bit too much it does make em unrecongnizable. The Ghoul Squad series, I'll give credit where it is due, kept the ghouls' designs and personalities relatively the same while in an all new universe, the new gen backstories does have me confused like...why does Draculaura wanna be a witch? Why is Toralei reduced to being a second carbon copy 'mean girl' archtype, when Cleo sorta already has tha role covered? (Ik later on Cleo has character development and becomes more nicer as the series goes on) And Lagoona...unrecognizeable...She looks like a new character altogether. Maybe if they kept the blue skin anf blonde hair, but added coloured streaks and kept her sporty aesthetic, then maybe...
I doubt it will be another Sonic Movie redesign uproar, but to be blunt, the designers and story writers failed the assignment by 50%.

I like the head sculpt for Frankie and Draculaura looks good besides that bow, but clawdeen looks so out of place next to them with that incredibly childish look. The fashion makes me so sad since the og clawdeen was a fashion person and always had super cool and fun wolf themes. It’s upsetting that I may never get a good clawdeen doll again as someone who’s favorite character was clawdeen

@@sherbear6625 Agreed, she was the only one of the main girls who never crushed or was boy crazy. She was the voice of reason when there was boy trouble and she focused on herself and what she wanted instead of boys. Just another character trait they have taken from her

The only think I like about her new design is that her nose looks like a snout.
Everything else is horrendous and can someone please tell me why she has sketchers? The nerd look that the writers are trying to go for her is not working because Clawdeen was a girlboss in g1. Her g2 personality is actually more accurate to the original, but this? This is insulting to the Monster High fans and Clawdeen herself, and if she was real, she would force Mattel to redesign the characters. (Torelei looks terrible, the British accent doesn’t suit her, and Deuce apparently is green? Even his g2 design looked better than this. And HEATH?! OMG HE HAS THE WORST DESIGN IN THE ENTIRE GENERATION!)
Mattel doesn’t care about Monster High, they just want to milk a franchise to make money off of parents (which they designed Monster High to look more “kid-friendly” since the original was “too scary” or “the girls are sexualized”)
9:00 Heath being the son of Hades makes no sense? Hades isn’t associated with fire? There’s at least a dozen heat related gods in Greek myth. From Hyperion to Apollo to Hephaestus. I’m just so confused? It looks like they saw Disney hades and were like “okay but what if we swap the blue for red/orange?”

While I'm really disappointed that Lagoona is no longer going to have an Aussie accent, I would NEVER send hate to Valeria. There's no excuse for bullying a VA
i can totally see them doing what winx club did in the late 2010’s by having the original series continue with a younger audience during the time of it’s release, while also making world of winx on netflix, which intended to appeal to older fans that stuck with the series during season 4 and prior. while you could argue that their attempts didn’t completely pan out in the long run i do think that monster high can definitely get the formula right through having both gen 1 and gen 3 coexist so they appeal to both audiences.
True bust most fans of monster high are the kids that watched it back in the 2010s I’d be fine with the design If the have the clothes more detailed again and not printed fashion and if the eyes where a bit smaller Mattel is a huge company they could make the old dolls again and the newer ones for the younger audience

Okay ngl, I went into this with hope and got a bit discouraged with some of the designs. I got descendants cute vibes but fell in love with spooky chic. However with the idea of pulling of TWO series, it makes more sense now. Making a children version and then have an adult version. I can't say more but see on what they pull off in the coming future.
What most people dont understand is that monster high isnt for them anymore and is meant to appeal to current youth and teens, thats why the fashion and sculpts are different, and thats what the reproductions are for, old monster high is back in the form of the reproduction dolls and collectors dolls so I dont understand why so many people are angry over the reboot

That and not only was the Karen reboot terrible, the fandom felt unheard when Mattel decided to listen to people who claimed monster high gen 1 was too scary. And yet you see toys from the five nights at Freddy’s franchise.

Everyone’s says to have an open mind, but completely missing that the movie and dolls are being marketed to the wrong audience. Monster high ended in late 2010s. The kids they are marketing to have no connection to MH. Yet the MH comeback and reboot are relying on the old fans hype. It’s disappointing and heartbreaking. Fans are more then allowed to criticize, however bullying the actors is wrong.
Exactly. I'm not a huge fan of the dolls that leaked (besides Draculaura, her hat is cute af), the plots sounds meh, once again with Draculaura being the one with a cool story, but don't bully the people involved.

If they make clawdeen a distinct half human, everyone’s monster identity becomes really unclear. Monsters like draculaura, frankie, and ghoulia have some sort of human origin so are they considered part human too??

Imagine if the plot went something like this:
Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, and Ghoulia having to fit in despite having human origins. They find out that someone was plotting to expose Monster High to humans and they have to find out who it is and stop them, while having other ghouls like Abby, Cleo and Lagoona help them along the way
Pretty simple plot to be honest with you.
Why didn't they just make Clawdeen a hybrid? They literally established that they're discriminated against by monsters in the OG Freaky Fusion movie?
I wish the monster high brand would be more unique, alternative, or experimental. I feel like the reboot is safe and Monster High has the potential to stand out from other doll brands. Let's hope they won't miss the mark if they made a series with the original gen 1 lore.

I mean honestly this is just disappointing how toned down it actually is, as someone who saw the movie I was quite optimistic about the future of the franchise but seeing the new character designs is just disappointing, imo just because it’s made for kids doesn’t mean it has to be insanely kid friendly, kids deserve aspiring heroes who face issues and have mature story lines which I feel like the original executed very well it gave kids amazing characters to look up to
It seemed that they’re changing Lagoona blue’s background like she’s Australian in the og but now it seemed that she will be Hispanic? It’s just kinda weird because other than the name the new Lagoona is just not lagoona for a lot of ways, and some were even hoping for an aboriginal person to be casted but oh well, they could’ve named the new lagoona Fishella or sth like that and no one would noticed that it’s supposed to be lagoona. Tbh they could probably name the new Draculaura as her younger sister Fangelica and no one would notice 💀

I know that Lagoona is partially meant to be based off of The Creature from the Black Lagoon, hence her name.
And that that takes place in the Amazon rainforest.

As a Latina I'm kind of cringing about Lagoona being casted as the Hispanic rep.... Especially when Mexico, and for that matter, ALL of Latin America has so many good stories and original monsters! Why not just make a new character or bring back Skelita or something? Feels really shoe-horned and lazy to just go "welp, now Lagoona is Latina! Our work here is done!" ... idk it's annoying... I'd prefer so many other things over this if they wanted to have more rep for Hispanic/Latin American people...
Because Aboriginal Australians are black. It’d be a shame but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick and Mattel just didn’t want to have two black characters in the main line up. They completely altered clawdeen even in her haunt couture journal and just made her a straight up stereotype of black women. They ruined her and Cleo’s love hate playful relationship and just made clawdeen a flat out female dog. Mattel really is letting me down.

They could’ve even brought back isis dawn dancer because a lot of Hispanics are native and she is too. They could’ve given her a Hispanic native background if they REALLY wanted another Hispanic character. It would’ve made more sense in my opinion

As for the prototype MH dolls, they look really strange. In the picture of the va cast and the new animation, you can get a better idea of what the dolls will look like. Draculaura's new design is alright. Pretty cute but I wish a small splash of white SOMEWHERE in the outfit. I really like Lagoona's design, but she literally looks like a completely different character, tbh should've just given her a new name. I'm optimistic about this reboot, especially since it seems that Mattel may be continuing the og story in some way alongside the reboot. Honestly I'm just excited to have Monster High back in my life
yeah, sorry to say it but i'm firmly in the "hater" camp with this. Monster High was one of the most influential series of my childhood and to see it turned into... whatever this is, is pretty heartbreaking. some things just need to be left alone, it doesn't matter how much passion and love the new cast/voice actors/artists/etc. have for a franchise just. don't. touch. it. make a new series and put all of the attention and effort into that instead of disappointing og fans. hell, say it's inspired by MH or a continuation of the story/world but with new characters, don't erase everything people loved about the already established worldbuilding because you wanted to slap the well-known name on an entirely different body and personality (coughLagoonacough). idk what the og writers' POV on this is, or if it's the same people doing the reboot, but... if it's a new writing team then doesn't this feel like a slap in the face after all of the hard work they put in for YEARS? if it IS the same team, then guys... have some self-respect, this is just sad. this screams Money-Hungry Mattel taking advantage of people's still existing adoration for first era Monster High to push out another beaten-dead-horse reboot that's even worse than the previous one. i don't agree AT ALL with people going after the VAs over this btw, that's shitty no matter the situation, this is 100% a case of corporate greed and shouldn't be pinned on them. however, seeing a small group of fans lash out at the wrong person doesn't change my opinion overall, it's nice that the cast is happy and passionate, but that's not enough to keep a beloved series going longer than it was made to. just let MH go into the light as a good memory for everyone and leave the ghouls ALONE. sorry for the rant but not sorry for everything else.

While having two different shows for two different audiences is an interesting strategy, it would be better to make one show that will appeal to tweens, teens, young adults and adults, in terms of character design and writing. Shows like Young Justice/Teen Titans, Avatar/Legend of Korra, Star Wars Rebels/Clone Wars, the Dragon Prince, She-Ra & PoP, Voltron, and Trollhunters all did this.
Ok honestly yeah, if they could make a show like Avatar/Korra I'd CRY. THAT is pique storytelling genius.
LEGO will need to take some notes from Mattel when it comes to reboots, that's for sure
@@Clawdeena9 It would be amazing if they could hit that sweet spot that works for everybody. And it is completely possible, which is why it's so frustrating to me that they seem to be limiting their own potential.
I'm honestly pretty disappointed in these designs. JUST the designs mind you, I think the dolls themselves, their quality and molds look pretty damn good. I'm proud of the company for going out of their way to make distinct face shapes for each ghoul, and Deuce's doll actually looks pretty damn good. But like I said, the designs? They're NOT it. I was open minded about Clawdeen and her new glasses, but now she just gives off Disney Channel nerd main character vibes. I like the design and outfit, but not for Clawdeen. I think it'd be a bit better for a reboot Howleen instead. I don't mind Frankie's new design too much so far. I think the hair clip is a bit much, and like everyone else I want them to have their green skin, but the outfit itself is fine if not a little too sporty/popular person-y for me. And Drac... I know people have been saying she looks the best but I honestly couldn't agree less. Quality wise she's great, i like her face shape and mold... But her outfit is a tragedy. It looks nice but my grievances are in the fact that it has NO lolita/victorian inspiration. It's so weirdly modern for her and while I'm all for change I think they need to CHANGE her design to have more of an old timey feel to it. I have other opinions on the other character's designs, but I'll leave it here for now.
I've got mixed feelings. The designs are cute, but I feel like they're missing the vibe of the og monster high. The doll designs are a little more cartooney and nickelodean-esc then I thought they would be. It doesn't really feel like the monster high I know so I'm a little aprehensive. I want to see what they intend for the more adult targeted show they were planning. I do think they are cute and I would never want to bash any of the designers or people who worked on them, nor the actors for the shows, but I can't say that I'm enjoying the direction they seem to be taking this reboot just by the initial look. I will keep an open mind though and I'm excited to see what else mattel is planning for monster high.

The Lagoona Blue design is horrible. At first I thought it was a new character with all the changes. The hair, the skin, the clothes…She looks like she came straight outta justice.

honestly what i hate most abt it is that theyre pairing clawdeen with a guy. the creator just confirmed he's on board with her being a lesbian but since he isn't involved with mh anymore we can't even have that. it's so sad and frustrating bc she was really embraced by the lesbian community as an icon for us and it's just. tragic. that's the main thing keeping me from this reboot bc i really like some of their proposals (nonbinary frankie with a prosthetic leg, i actually love drac and cleo's new designs) but this single fact just. really turns me off.

Interesting comparing this to Cave Club. I feel like that line had cute dolls but suffered from weird theming, cheap clothes, and bad hair. And I think that is sort of my concern about what will happen to the new Monster High seeing how Mattel has not had the best track record in the last few years.

With the new Lagoona voice actor you omitted the entire part where a fan apparently attacked them for the fans own headcanon as Lagoona being aboriginal despite the old voice actor being neither aboriginal nor Australian..they apparently accused them of taking representation away and the voice actor despite the unnecessary hate still decided to dono money..there was a video of the new voice actor's responding to the hate..
I wouldn’t blame the voice actors or even live action actors for their roles, I blame the upper up at Mattel and Nickelodeon for completely butchering the series… AGAIN.

I don't think mantel will do that because it will take a lot of time to make both, and money look at the time they tried to reboot it once and failed this is going to be there second time! Y’all I live in Canada and my mom went to our local Walmart and there was literally Frankie Stein Lagoona blue Clawdeen and Dracula Laura in the original packaging and it looked perfect on the back of their head it still says 2008 I couldn’t believe it! My mom called me when she saw them and I asked for Dracula Laura (thinking I could cagey Clawdeen later) I haven’t been to find them since they’ve selling out everywhere I’m even in the United States right now and they’re not even here surprisingly so I just have my one Dracula Laura doll trying to keep her in perfect condition even comes with her umbrella, her bat,and her diary it’s incredible!!! Also if you want pictures you can just ask and I can email them to you!💕

These are the Booriginal Creeproductions, they’re reproductions of the og 2010 dolls. They came out this year but it says 2008 on the back of their head because that’s the year when they created the mold they use. They’re atm very hard to find rn because scalpers are getting them and selling them for triple the price, it was insanity when they arrived to Mexico lol. I hope they start restocking them worldwide pretty soon, these are supposed to be widely available.

The sad thing is that ANY criticism is often interpreted and / or dismissed as "intolerance" or "hate". Most criticism is just that. While some of the less-than-fawning commentary may fit the bill of "intolerance", most of it is simply expressing honest objections. Shouting these opinions down with accusations of hatred will help no one. Let's face it. The old MH set a VEY high bar, and clearing that height will be next to impossible. Folks who dearly love the classic MH, like me, will be scrupulously critical, like it or not.
5:45 Is exactly my feelings summed up in a single rant. Mattel’s doll lines ARE childish looking which is a surprising design choice considering that Monster High fans are likely adults now. To add insult to injury, they completely washed out the original charm of the characters.
I also find the justification for Mermaid High’s failure to be absolutely redundant because even with all that reworking and design conflict, they still only managed to come up with a doll that looks like it belongs in a dollar store. There is nothing unique looking about their design and the release of Mermaze was the nail in the coffin. MGA has been killing it with their detailed textiles and over the top character design that appeals to both kids and adults and I am all for it. Mermaid High has no excuse.
This whole monster high thing is kinda crazy, I mean like I understand why MATTEL is doing this, because they’re trying to be less Adult Collector vibes and more; Child like. But i don’t know if they realize their fans are 50/50 between adults and kids. Meanwhile MGA is creating stuff really fast and MH haven’t for a little while. It’s all really confusing. But I feel like Adult fans need to calm down and let it be more kid like! But on the other hand, these dolls use to be so cheap and had good Quality but now it feels like there is less quality and a higher price!

I'm kinda disappointed in the new designs. Each character has they're own style that made sense (Dracula looks like she came right out of the victorian era but modernized which makes sense because she's a vampire, Clawdeen had fur and lots of belts which makes sense because she's a werewolf) the new gen 3 desgins are just- WHY?! more alt fashions would have been SOOO much better and translated they're personalities better. I have no issues with the voice actors but thoose new desgins are KILLING me.
I thought of an idea which could’ve been in the reboot, like Draculaura and Frankie being friends since the 1800’s (since Dracula and Frankenstein have been created in that timeline) and going to high school in modern times. That would’ve been a cool premise.
The inclusion of lgbtq felt forced to me. Though also a bit homophobic because creator said clawdeen was supposed to be a lesbian but here in reboot they put her with the Riverdale jughead wannabe deuce.

I think the only reason I’m so passionate with my dislike for this reboot it’s just how much monster high was therapeutic for me as a little kid just how much it meant to me when I was younger and just how much literally every single ghoul had a purpose to me I loved monster high when I was little and I loved what it stood for I loved every character and all their storylines and now it’s like they’re wiping that way and coming up with something new I think my dislike for it also has to do with the fear of growing up I’m graduating high school this year and it’s a really bitter sweet feeling I think I just want to hold on to anything that remotely reminds me of my childhood and I don’t want to let go just yet and seeing all the girls looking so different and not even being who they once were it’s just really hard for me to take in and get used to I’m glad that kids now will grow up with what I grew up on but I’m just sad that it’s not the same and things are changing and time is moving forward it’s just really hard for me to grasp that everything eventually comes to an end and I’m just really not ready for such a big change so it just hurts me pretty deep

I think the others look good. I had a terrible idea of what they would look like, but Draculora and Frankie don't look as bad as I thought.
Tbh I’m terrified by the designs, gothic aesthetics are in, plus their ghouls, monsters etc why not add them? Not many people like to see stereotypes anyways, why not try something new? Honestly, I’d be okay with those designs if they were new characters in a new series personally. But bullying the VAs? Don’t stoop that low, they’re just voice actors for the characters.
Honestly some of the designs are absolutely adorable! But, like they don’t feel like monster high, it feels controlled like the executives didn’t want to do anything that might be seen as risky. Such as the more gothic elements of the original. Since that was something that caused issues with the first gen. I think some of the designs need help but at the same time I have some cautious optimism for the at least animation.
I'm saddened that the actors and creatives have been on the receiving end of so much hate from some fans. Even if the reboot isn't what many expected, I think it's still worth giving a chance once it's finally here: dolls, series and all. Even if they all are bad, the actors and creatives don't deserve any hate as they're just doing their job, it be Mattel's fault for failing to effectively lead the brand into the new era.

I thought the Frankie doll looked cute! I liked Clawdeen’s too but I felt like the purple hair doesn’t pull the design together like they thought it would. The only one I found unflattering was Draculaura, and that was because of the way her face looks. It just looks so flat and awkward, if that makes sense
I’m all for there being 2 different series; one for the OG and one for the younger fans but I hope they’ll also do that for the dolls too. I’d love to add new dolls to my collection but I just don’t like the new designs.

i think it would make it a lot better is they made it new kids at the school rather then the same cast. kinda like in 13 wishes with howleen, where they have to overcome being known as the siblings to the og cast. idk about anyone else but i have seen teachers ask kids if they are related to a previous classmate. for example howleen saying that she is known as the annoying little sibling. as well as finding their own style is a great topic and message, showing them make mistakes and learning who they are and growing from them. maybe have the og cast make an appearance for the older fans while introducing the new fans to the older works

While the dolls haven’t come out yet and I want to judge them once they’re fully out to the public I think they look decent while not being the best things ever, when I first saw them I felt like it was fake mostly to how the white hair on Frankie looks it felt like it was a photoshopped clump of hair but it could also just be a really bright white they used for their hair but other than that I think Draculara looks the best out of them and I’m in love with her new outfit for the reboot, I think the nose on Clawdeen will take sometime to get used to but other than that I love her outfit and face here.
It would be cool to see a movie about the new mh reboot characters meeting the og mh characters! Like they are in a different universe and could maybe get some of the old voice actors to be apart of it. The one thing I'm hoping for in the new animated show is that they revamp Heath's personality to be more likeable. He was super annoying in the original MH, and I know that was on purpose, but having that kind of character in the main cast instead of just a side character would get really old really fast.
I still don't like the live action movie or the rebooted dolls/series but even so it is really upsetting that the voice actors are being bullied. Its not fair especially since old MH hasn't been completely discontinued considering the limitied addition dolls are still being produced eg: SDCC Frankie, Gremlins doll, the brady twins etc. We're still getting bits and pieces of the original, oh and not to forgetg but the creeproductions as well! Mattel has not ignored our requests whatsoever.
You might not like the reboot like me but theres still a bunch more for us old MH lovers on the way.

I really really love Draculara’s new design, mainly probably because of the hat lol. I don’t know if it’s a sun hat or a witch hat (probably the latter) but I love it either way. I’m actually really excited for her doll.
I think it's a sun hat because vampires cant go in the sun and hes not carrying her umbrella anymore but it also gives witchy vibes!

im suuuper excited for this reboot. ive been a fan of the series since i was 4 years old and i think this reboot will be super fun. I dont know why other fans are so bent up about it, sure the last one wasnt the best reboot but we should all be a bit welcome to change, right?
I like Draculaura’s design, it feels like it’d be from a collection. And Frankie’s new hair. But I do miss the old dolls. And as Clawdeen being my favorite from childhood- it hurts seeing her like that. Like. Wtf.
If we're all being honest we more than likely going to watch the movie and series regardless whether its to see what its about or just to have some form of criticism directed towards it. I personally just want to watch it for Cleo and Draculaura, I really like the fact Drac is going to be doing magic so I hope she doesn't disappoint and Cleo seems the same so it'll be nice to see something that hasn't really changed but adapted in a different way. Also...I'm crying if clawdeen is straight (not that anything is wrong with it but I just loved that she and the other ghouls weren't really "oooo, boy, me need him in my life.")
I’d actually be cool with two co-existing shows and lines. Make the adult one a little darker and more steeped in the folklore that the og characters are inspired by. Something well and truly created to be viewed by adults who are capable of critical thinking and want fulfilling, satisfying plots and storylines. I’d love some LGBTQ rep too, and if She-Ra is anything to go by, we just might get it. The kiddie one can still be a kiddie one. No sweat.
I like the sculpts of the new dolls. They look like the actors. The factory paint isn’t great, though. I can see myself buying them to repaint and make them look more like they do in the movie.
The way I think about the new reboot is a different universe from the original. Yeah we seeing the same faces and them sharing the names but what’s different is the personality and background. I can understand why some people is having a negative attitude about the reboot is because they don’t like change and not happy with it. That’s okay you don’t have to like something especially change but what’s not okay is that is lashing out the voice actors and actresses. Change will happen rather are you like it or not.

I really liked Frankies old design, it was freaky and fabulous but her new one makes her look like a Jock. She was never a Jock in the origonal.
I'm looking forward to hopefully sharing some kind of MH with my daughter like I did with my younger cousin's. I was never a huge doll fan, but I loved the OG line, and even some of the reboot; and I actually collected quite a few of them. My daughter recently turned 2 and loves Vampirina and has some Barbie dolls she enjoys, so maybe she'll enjoy a lighter, smaller kid oriented series. I want to see some full body images of the dolls before I do my final judgement. So far I like Draculaura (one of my og favorites), on the fence with Frankie, and unsure about Clawdeen. Hopefully we'll have a better look soon so I can start budgeting for doll hunting like I used to at Toys R Us
Hey Clawdeena! I have one question for the design team (Even though its not about design or anything);
When the hell did Heath became the son of HADES? The OG Heath was a fire elemental, but now hes the son of a GOD? Would that mean he would be the first demi god to be in Monster High? Why did they change that in the first place? Not only that but would there be another demi god in school whos probably the child of Hercules?
To be honest, this whole series of new dolls and new movies and series etc., is overwhelming, but also in a way, a tad bit exciting. I just hope they would touch up on Heath's story to find more about his demi god side.
I think it would be a good idea to ask if they plan on adding any little details from other MH doll lines to any Skullector or new gen dolls, like the hair tinsel from the Sweet 1600 dolls, or possibly taking outfits from different dolls and putting them on another character!! I think it would be super cool to see if they would ever try swapping outfits or aesthetics for the dolls, just to try something different!!
I genuinely love Clawdeen’s new design. I understand it’s not for everyone and trust me, I’m also disappointed with the loss of the gothic aesthetic and I do really miss the original. But I don’t think we should be so negative. Let’s appreciate the positive aspects of the dolls and while it’s ok to be disappointed, obviously, understand and respect how much love and hard work went into designing them. It must be hard for the creatives who worked on this to see their creation being absolutely RIPPED TO SHREDS because it’s not like the original. ):

Torelei is by far my fave new design… it doesn’t escape me that it’s probably because she looks most like the original. That being said, I like Cleo and Deuce’s new looks, and I like Headmistress Bloodgood. Of the main three, Draculaura is the best, but they’re all middle ground for me. Nothing exciting, but I could get used to them. Heath and Lagoona… gotta be honest, my first reaction was a visceral NOOOO!!! But I’m trying to give them a chance here. I will take EVERYTHING else except what they did to Toralei! I was able to serially watch the webisodes this year (couldn't do it when i was younger) and Toralei's backstory gave her so much depth and helped me understand her more. Plus, imagine all the kids from juvie seeing themselves and their struggles (like how toralei fought) being represented. And the fact that they had a plot point to explain what some might have gone through must have helped others understand them (like Russian immigrant teens and Abby Abominable). Making her come from an elite family is a crime.

Personally I feel like people are being wayyyy too harsh about this all. Sure, it's not the og Ghouls, but we all knew it wouldn't be. Of course you can not like them, but there's no need to hate on it or the actors and voice actors. They're just trying to do their job ://
I personally really like the new movie and the leaked dolls, but we'll see what the future brings ☺️
i despise this whole reboot thing but i agree, the actors are literally getting paid for this and are putting hard work into it

Everyone’s says to have an open mind, but completely missing that the movie and dolls are being marketed to the wrong audience. Monster high ended in late 2010s. The kids they are marketing to have no connection to MH. Yet the MH comeback and reboot are relying on the old fans hype. It’s disappointing and heartbreaking. Fans are more then allowed to criticize, however bullying the actors is wrong.
