THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! THAT IS ONE BADASS MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! THE ULTIMATE MANUAL TRANSMISSION FOR ANY APPLICATION!!!! YOU GUYS MADE MY DAY!!!!
Honest question ---Wouldn't an automatic transmission (say a 4L80E) with a manual valve body function and perform exactly the same but at a much, much, lower cost point? What am I missing?
These are totally streetable. You don't want the straight cut gear version to drive on the street alot (noisy) but you can run the helical set which is just as good. The big difference is the straight cut gear set has a 1 to 1 6th gear for racing purposes.
@@AmericanPowertrainhow much does something like this cost. In the racing world there is a huge difference in what people call not cheap. We talking a Built TH400/4L80 price or maxed out lock up M&M TH400 price lol
The Caterham 620R uses a 6 speed sequential in the 1200 lb. street legal road racer with 310 hp. 0-60 in 2.79 seconds. Really nothing can keep up with it on a road course with its braking and cornering and acceleration. Instant gear changes. Sequential is the ultimate.
How is rev matching handled for downshifts? I assume something on the trans talks to the ecu (like Haltech / Motec) to handle blipping throttle on downshifts?
I’ve got one in my Jeep Grand Cherokee and once I got to around 1000 hp it’s having problems coming out of gear under load. It did great up until around the 850+ hp mark
I have a nosy question. Who buys these things and for what reason? The reason I'm asking is because I have to figure out how to do whatever whoever is buying this does so I can justify buying one.
How much does this one go for? Got a C5 corvette im building and in the future would be going with a sequential AWD setup, I know this is rated for 1500+ but ill expect to make at most 800HP street and 1200HP track for reliability reasons. want a semi street monster that I can have fun with and not break.
If you have a Magnum (not an OE T-56) its $18K plus labor. Labor varies depending the gear ratio set you need. Some of those sets require additional machine work.
@@austinblaede4397 Yep. Vehicle weight. You need physically larger gears to handle weight of vehicle. These gears are strong enough for muscle cars and sports cars with large hp. Start doubling the weight of the car and your torque capacity goes down. Diesel engines make most of their torque at low rpm as well. Tons more leverage on the gears with the added weight. You would also have to have a custom bell housing to make it work.
Do you have to use a special throw out bearing for the input shaft or can you use whatever is provided for a stock T56 such as with a conversion bellhousing to bolt to your billet transmission case? Are these offered only for a limited time?
$18k for the parts. You will need a T-56/Magnum donor trans (no LT-1 or Borg Warner 6-speeds) +Labor depends on the condition of the trans. Plus you need an xngeering cut box for throttle blip ($1500) @@Will_86_gt
@@AmericanPowertrain Thats what I am saying, the internals are completely bespoke, the case is bespoke, which part of this is still a Termec? My point is that you might want to choose a ground up motorsport gearbox (which, granted, this pretty much is) like a Holinger RD6.
The dog ring gears are likely necessary for smooth clutches shifts without destroying the synchros. Its similar to the way superbike gear boxes are designed.
Why did you say you change the Internal componets then say it has a Billet Case? Why don't they just build a complete Transmission? NASCAR is now useing a sequensial shift Transmission and it costs $15,000.00 My guess is your price is $15,000.00 or more... Funny this video popped up after I just watched Scotty Kilmer telling that the New Corvette Dual clutch Transmission is having issues with censors and clogged filters ect.. You always want to do a fluid and filter change after a break in period.. "Wet Clutch" Transmission no less made by Tremac and an 8 speed..
Ok so this is a "one to one 6th gear" swap. Which means you have to machine the case to fit the giant one to one 6th gear. OR you can order the billet Magnum case done already with the clearances you need. One to one 6th is only PPG gear set you have to do this with. All the other gear ratios you can just reuse the stock case. That Nascar trans is not just a transmission it's an entire transaxle built by Xtrac and its not $15k...Its more than double that price. This set up is about $23k as you see it. This particular set up is nothing like the DCT Tremec makes. It's much simpler and more mechanical. DCT works totally different than this. Also I know many of the Tremec engineers and they say all that fluid stuff is just internet gossip. They have millions in R&D in that transmission. I know a few C8 owners who have had zero issues with a lot of miles on the car.
This particular one is around $26k out the door with all the extra options like the billet case and front cover. That includes a new Magnum transmission. If you have a 6-speed you can shave $3300 off that price.
The ultimate road race cars are always rear wheel drive. Formula One, not all wheel drive. AWD is just a crutch for average street drivers, although safer for street use in bad weather.
