How much torque can the TKX hold?? Was mentioned for all the trannys except the TKX unless I missed it?
600 LB/FT
@@HolleyPerformance how come you couldn't get the tremec 5 spd with a 350 in 1986 trans ams? gm said it couldn't handle the power of the 350 , which wasn't much in 1986.
@@fransmith8992 thats over 30 years ago...technology my friend
@@jubjub905 aha. so now the t-5 is much stronger? how much will a modern one handle and is it a straight bolt in replacement?
What about the t-5 world class I blew up two of those with 400 hp junk compared to the t-56, but super easy to shift
Man blows up transmission with 100 hp over rating and calls it junk lol
Wait. Is this the same as the nwcT5 used in 1982-88 Camaros?
What is the best TREMEC 5 or 6 speed to bolt onto a 302 and fit in a stock 65 Ford Mustang coupe?
T5 or tkx
THE Doug Nash 4+1

K cars are cool bro!
Is there Tremec T-5 variant that will fit my 84 300zx Turbo? I want to swap from A/T to M/T, but the Borg Warner T-5 has a smaller pilot diameter and spline count (24t) than Ford (10t) or GM 21t). I also wonder if the length of the transmission may be different so the shifter won't line up with the port for the shifter.
manual z31s came with t-5s. Its easier to find one made for the 300zx because they use different input and maybe output shafts like you said, than trying to find a ford or aftermarket one.
@@peterdeboer2805 They came with three different transmissions depending on the model and 6 different driveshaft configurations. It's also incredibly hard to find a low-mileage one, so that's why I need to expand my search to alternative options.
T5 grind speed.
I wanna swap a t56 in my STS-V
So the TKO Bodyslams itself out of the car
Do you have a up grade that will replace a t-5 that is stronger and will bolt in place of the t-5?
Tkx
gm used tremecs in 1986 in firebirds and trans ams and you couldn't get it with a 350. only with the v6 or the 305 because it couldn't handle much power.
GM used Borg Warner T-5 manuals, and they were only available with 5.0L V8. All other engines were the 700R4 automatic. The Borg Warner had notoriously weak bearing and input shaft. Stock 350 torque is more than capable of snapping the input shaft or severely twisting it.
@@levistoner 1986 v6 firebirds were available with the 5 spd t-5 manual
Love this
So you only have one style transmission for mopar, that’s cool I didn’t want to get a five speed for my 69 dart
Every single one of those will fit in a Mopar. I believe the use the “Ford” style input. I mean, in the time it took you to post your grumpy comment you could have easily figured that out....
It's always the dodge guys
The t56 mag wasn’t released in 1992.
Thats right. The original T56 was not a Magnum.
I didn't hear the torque load capacity of the TKX. Is it higher than the TKO 600?
Yes. The internals are Magnum based and rated to the same 700ft lbs
Opening the video by dissing one of the best types of car ever is very bold
C’mon guys…adding one gear is nice, but never gonna double mileage….
I never liked the notchy, clunky shifter on the t56. I switched to a silky smooth CD009 nissan box.
He said torque specs all the transmissions except the TKX, I don't get it
Any 4wd applications?
Torque ratings on the tkx?
600ft pds
They need a tkx6 speed
This isn't a complete guide,where is the T4?
Dough.Nash 4+1. 😁😎
4+3 you mean? early c4s
You can send one to me to test and do auto to manual swap
Any of those 4x4 trans or nah?
The t56 was used in project crazy horse years ago, behind a 347 stroker, in a 1967 bronco 4x4
@@TheRoadhammer379 I’ve got a 80 Bronco with a 331 stroker with np435. It works
After too much cannabis in high school, and later countless cigarettes at my job, the only thing I want to smoke now in retirement is tires.
Ain’t nothing wrong with the k-car.
Those transmission r high as fuck. I price one 4 my chevelle, 3,500 and believe or not I paid 2,500 4 my Commercial diesel transmission. So how in the fuck does a car trans cost more than a commercial diesel transmission 🤦♂️👎
Wall Street got involved. Holley is a publicly traded company now. They need to make their shareholders happy. They will do that by screwing us up the tailpipe to do stock buybacks before no time.
we need a facetooth transmission and do away with syncros completely.
