    Your amazing man, one of a kind! Thanks so much for your hard work at making the best Strike kits out there and making them available to us. I been following you on your channel for quite some times. Used to have a TD-25, but after seeing what you were doing with the Alesis Strike I bought a Strike module. What a difference! Love your honest reviews! You and 65Drums are the best...

      Hi. I also own a td-25 kit & am considering getting a strike module to use with it. Would like to know if you've encountered any compatibility issues with this combo? Should I go for it? Thanks in advance.

    Man, thanks again. This user kit sounds awesome. Alesis should pay you a fee, and include all of your custom kits as stock kits. They're so much fun to play.

    Wow Thanks again for your efforts, another great kit! Finally tested it today. Well done with the snare, cymbals play great, and those toms... that floor tom rings on for ages (2x 18" subs). Not convinced on the ride, but that's my personnel preference. Well done man!

    One more question if you do no mind. Can you assign MIDI Channel settings globally so it affects every kits. Yesterday I was assigning Channel 10 to the MIDI so it would be recognized by the Roland V-Drum Tutor program I have. After some trial and error assigning midi notes I got it to work. The problem is that if I switch kit the MIDI channel setting on any kit default back to #1 channel. Basically, you have to manually change the MIDI channel individually for each trigger on every kit. On Roland modules once you assign the MIDI channel it was applied globally. I understand that internally the Alesis Strike works different, especially when dealing with with Preset and User kits files. Maybe I am overlooking something. Thought you may have an answer since you are so verse on with the Strike module.

    Is the Alesis strike module still what you would recommend if I am trying to go A2E? Anything better in that price range? Any issues with the module freezing up or settings lost?

    Great stuff mr Siren Drums! Got a bunch of your kits and made some level and panning for my taste but great work! When you use SDSE, for the snare and tons how many velocity levels do you use for the auto map??

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  4 роки тому

      Thanks man! I think 30/50 for snare and 25/35 for toms. That's for ssd5 tho so can't say if it'll be good for other VST. For velocity amounts 25 for snare and 15 for toms. After an import session I do a quick top velocity test (run through the round robin at top velocity) and then if any layers are out of order I count how many and go in and move them in the editor.

    I have a question about the Main-Out (R & L) on the back of the Strike module. On the Roland modules that I used in the past, the Master Output (Main Out) are R and L/Mono. Is the Left Out channel on the Strike module perform the same function. If not, is it better to pan every pads to the Left when sending the signal out? I am asking because it has been said by many (V Expression, 65Drums, etc.,) that using mono (L/Mono) is better when sending your signal to the Amp, PA or FOH. My Simmons DA-200S has R & L/Mono In jacks as well. What is the best way to send the Main Out signal with the Strike module? Your thoughts!

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому

      I don't know why they didn't put it on the module but either L or R used separately is mono. I plug into L for my regular practice.

    • @gxbchiro
      @gxbchiro 5 років тому

      @@AtTheSourceStudios So if the panning in in the middle it goes equally to both R & L. On the other hand, if you pan the pad either right or left then the sound goes to that specific channel?

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому

      @@gxbchiro no if you plug only one cable in it is mono. Doesn't matter where you pan stuff everything comes out mono and centered. So pan however you like. Had no effect when running mono.

      Hey. I use the 14" Alesis Strike snare (best pad I've ever played. Only center mounted trigger design with NO hotspot. It's great) Helensson ITM2 triggers for all my toms (I have a video on these) and UFO Drums bass drum trigger. (I did one for this too). Very happy with the setup!

    Hey,
    so I need to ask You what do you think about Millenium MPS-850 vs Fame dd-one professional e-drum set vs
    Fame DD-ONE Simon Phillips Edition, Or you have any other idea for drum kit with mesh pads, real hi-hat stand and under 1000$.
    I am hoping for your answer and thank You

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому

      I am really unfamiliar with all of these kits (you must be in Europe - I am in U.S.) but I took a quick glance at all three and the pads all the the same if I'm not mistaking. If anything very minor changes. Sound wise though, which is what matter most to me, the Simon Phillips Edition really stood out to me. Or the Professional but I think I personally would go with Simon Phillips going based off sound.
      The pads and cymbals are the same as Alesis DM kits here so I think all the pads will feel nice no worries there. Only thing I would add is putting the snare on a snare stand. The Millennium looks like can import samples though? Not sure if possible on the others.
      That's something that might favorable to it but out of the box yeah either of the Fame kits I think I would go with. Some great deals overseas! (Sorry couldn't be of more help lol) Thank you for watching!

      You will want to be on a computer for this. You want to take the SD card from the strike and put in your computer. Then follow my link and find "The Pocket". Drag and drop into "Kits" folder of SD card. Eject the card, put back in the Strike module and you have it.

    • @objoyful989
      @objoyful989 5 років тому

      I use a micro sd card with an adapter. After the folder structure is set up by the module, I can put the micro sd card into the slot in my phone. With a good file manager I can copy the file into the kits folder. Therfore if you dont have access to a Computer, you need a micro sd card, as well as an android phone with a micro sd card slot.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому +1

      Hey. Not sure I understand the question. What do you mean by mapped? (Sorry maybe I'm over thinking this lol) Like what instruments are assigned to which zones? If that's what you mean if I recall correctly the splash is on tom1. The rest is set for a regular strike kit.

    Been playing guitar in bands for 30+ years and have had drum sets for 10 of those, off and on. Gave away both my rock and jazz kits a couple of years ago and now that I'm rebuilding a home studio I'm really taken by the Strike Pro. It seems to have been a hard process for Alesis to get the high hat and some other triggering to be as on point as Roland but the new firmware appears to have taken care of that. That set you have is freaking awesome but looks like you just put the Strike pads on your Pearl kit. Any advantage if I am only doing DI recording to have more than the Alesis shells? It's going to be all new to have e-drums anyway. Just want to make it as painless as possible.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому +1

      IMO the Strike set is worth it for the module alone. The pads themselves feel great. The cymbals aren't my favorite but you might want to plan to replace the HiHat off the bat with something like a Roland VH-10 and then put the stock HH cymbal as another crash/splash.
      My drums are converted from acoustic so unfortunately it is not the Strike pads anywhere besides the snare (couldn't give that up it's the best). Even if you end up replacing all your cymbals like I have or do anything with converting acoustic to electric what is 100% worth the investment is the Strike module.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 років тому

      There's no sonic advantage of having an a to e converted kit. It's all a feel/appearance thing so if you want to just record by all means the stock Strike pads feel great. I personally again would replace the cymbals eventually as they are not as sensitive as most like nor as durable but the pads are all great.
      I have a conversion kit because this is my main kit for band practice and I want it to have the same presence as a full kit and when other drummers come in I don't want them to cringe at the "electronic drumset". If this was just a recording kit like next to the computer or something I probably would have only changed out the cymbals.
