    Siren,
    Absolutely amazing chops. Alesis needs to put you up on their site because you bring this kit to another level. I was on the fence about this kit, but after hearing you hit that snare the first time in this video, I was sold. The sound is fantastic. I sold my TD25 and bought this kit and use Superior drummer 3.0 instead of the module sounds and haven't looked back. This kit is a steal. Thanks for your videos with this kit.

    I'm not even finished watching the video and you did an excellent job explaining how simple changes can change the sound drastically.
    Even changing the FX can effect it too.
    Great job.

    I definitely like all the initial drum and cymbal sounds and also am impressed with the changes. Being relatively new to trying to develop my "sound" and kit creation, one of my most obvious questions is how do you get so many drums and cymbals to work together? There are only so many "slots" in the Pro module to work with, yet you appear to have at least six cymbals, plus the hi-hat and 5 toms, a bass and the snare drum. "What's up wit that?" Are you using two modules?

    Great sounds man!!! I actually heard some kid playing the strike pro at guitar center last time I went there, unbelievable stock sounds coming from it, and I'm biased towards Roland kits, but damn, I'm always rethinking Alesis after seeing your videos and hearing it in real life. Great job bud, your a sick drummer!!!!!

      Thank you man. Try very hard to get the best sound possible and yes the sounds are awesome. I am very happy with it!. Someone is also sending me a few SD3 kits so I am going to import them into the module and try those out too. That is one of the coolest features of the module. Any sound you want you can play it. Even if it's from a drum vst.

    You play a lot, and the sound of your drums is incredible, ( I use EZdrummer - drumkit from hell ). But yours is much better, could you tell me how?

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  6 років тому +2

      tati metal thanks! I spent a good amount of time adjusting everything. I like the ezdrummer sounds too. I think the Strike is comparable because it also uses real drum samples like ezdrummer and has really good round robin algorithm to eliminate any machine gunning normally associated with e-kits. I am also mastering my audio which gives it a more polished sound than what others put out on the strike having a more "raw" tracking/demo type of sound. Not doing anything too crazy though. The quality of the samples can only be credited to Alesis. There are some really good sounds in this module. I am still pretty new to it and had only so much time to find new options because I've been so happy with the sound I've been getting. Haven't felt the need to look for other options until this video. The best part is that if you ever feel the need for sounds not inside the module, you can import samples too. So theoretically if you sent me the samples from your ezdrummer I could play them directly from the strike module, no midi or vst running. Pretty rad.

    Great video man! Just a question, and I'm sure you've been asked by now, but how did you add the extra two cymbals and the extra tom? Was this all through cable splitting and getting rid of the rims? I'd really like to add at least two more cymbals to mine and possibly another tom as well. Thanks!

    Hey Siren, you seem to be the only person who has any answers for me. I greatly appreciate it and Enjoy your content. I have one more question(for now) do you have any trouble with hot spots on the alesis snare? On a lot of kits the snare pops and cracks real loud when I hit it solid right near the middle. I’ve tried l the sensitivity levels and the knob on the side. Thanks

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  6 років тому

      Try taking the head off. You may have foam rods that are lose or have fallen over. If they have it should be a simple dot of super glue to fix. If something is broken you can always call Alesis customer service.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  6 років тому

      Samuel Berglin to answer your question though no I have no hotspots. The pads are designed to not have hot spots which is why I really is like them. Most pads have one cone in the center and the hot spot is terrible. If you are experiencing a pin point hot spot try opening it up.

  • @samuellouis3103

    I noticed you switched back to the alesis hi hat. I switched to the vh11 and the open and closed works great but it’s either open or closed nothing in between. Also only the bow triggers not the edge of the vh 11. I’m curious if you were having any of these issues. Great videos btw Really the best ones that include alesis drums. Also. You get another Tom?

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  6 років тому

      I actually was only ever using the VH11 controller not the Roland HiHat cymbal but with the 14" Alesis Strike Crash so I can't comment on the edge not triggering other than it may be broken (yes Roland stuff does break too) or the cable may be going bad. You can test this by just plugging into a different cymbal and test the edge and bow of that cymbal. if it also doesnt work you know you have a bad cable. If it does, you know your cymbal died. As far as the open to closed goes, you can adjust that in your HiHat Pedal settings. Try doing a HiHat Reset or changing the Curve for the Pedal. LOG1 will make the window wider to where you can get the in between middle sound but you won't be able to get the fully open sound unless you have the cymbal a little higher up. LINEAR makes it so the window for the mid open sound is slightly smaller but you can get all the sounds with the cymbal being a little closer to the controler (how i prefer). You just have to be a little more articulate when opening to keep the hihat in the mid-open position.

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  6 років тому

      Thank you for the compliments also! Yes I did get another tom. As much as I really like it a bigger kit its a love hate thing for me lol I always go back and forth between setups setup but for now I'm enjoying having all the options available. Just gotta get a few splitters if you're wanting to expand past the regular "pro" setup. I got mine from drumsplitters.com

    • @samuellouis3103

      Thank you that’s very helpful although I did hook the VH 11 I had symbol up to another cable as if it were a crash cymbal and the same thing it only triggers on the bow not the edge also think it supposed to have choke that doesn’t work either

But i wanted the exact sound as Simon Phillips from a TOTO live album. And found in several VST's the sound i needed and imported them in this module and it sound amazing as if i have the same drum kit. For this i used www.lustark.com/sdse Its a great tool! You could make your own accoustic sound and put it in the module if you have the time and the tools for recording.
