I've had my Strike Pro SE for 2 weeks! This video was amazingly helpful. WOW! What a game changer, not only a pleasure to play but to hear it triggering like this is mind blowing! Can't thank you enough brother! Awesome playing as well sir! Subscribed!
Thanks man! I've put this kit through hell and back LOL and REALLY know it inside and out in almost any context and am a total believer in it! I play and record all the time so I am always still learning new ways to improve as well and sometimes fix things that happen. Its a VERY deep kit and deep with stuff we NEED, not useless bells and whistles. I am hoping for a new firmware update at some point to hopefully give some eidting and kit creation short cuts! Thats personally what I would like to see. Ability so save full voices/pads separately making customization much easier. Find and PM me on facebook and I'll give you a bonus
These drums you’ve made them sound really good! I’ve only watched the first clip but it just sounds like a mic’d drum set with a little reverb added. I can say though I hated the feel of the high hats that came with this kit, they were way too stiff for me. Since I’m never gonna be playing acoustic drums again in this lifetime and I still want to make music I’m hoping the brand new Alesis kit will be the shure shot in the future. Of course I’ll probably only want to buy the module and trigger it through a hybrid kit. My goal is to go for very warm vintage sounds!
Thanks for the time in making this Allen, really appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge. I only have the Strike module, but those bass drum double hits were killing me
Wow !!! What a fantastic video !!! Taking the compression off of my cymbals made them far more sensitive and realistic. My hi-hats now sound and feel amazing. So, no compression on the metals and compression on the skins. Great advice. Also, changing my settings on the triggers and voice parameters made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Thanks for posting this. You are my savior.
Youre very welome! Also I have amazing customized sound library too that took me 3 yrears to compile using SDSE and top drum software . If interested PM me on facebook.
Cheers Allen. I have just ordered my SE kit on the basis of what you have shown. I nearly didnt buy it because I have read just as many bad reviews as good ones and that put me into a 50/50 mindset for a while which for me when Im doing or buying anything, especially when spendiing around £2600 all in with accessories, monitors etc, is not good enough odds. It could be an expensive mistake. However I can now see clearly past the "pitfalls" and the work arounds which are clearly there once you know how to find them and what the terminology means. I have been playing for around 35yrs on some really nice acoustic kits but have never delved into using technology except for our own click and backing tracks and I've certainly never triggered anything. Its never too late to learn someting new so in a few days I will be setting up my brand new SE kit, re-visiting yours and a couple of other very helpful videos in how to get the best from this kit. Thank you for taking the time to share this and ultimately helping me and others 👍
Also I have mine totally dialed in and have trigger settings I can also share but you would need to watch the midi OX video I have here on how to do that. Reach out if you need any help otherwise (on FB messenger). I help out a lot of people!
ive had my strike pro, from when they first went to market. After watching your video, Ive discovered Ive not been using my snare head trigger, because the sensitivity was set too low, & the rim was set too high, taking over the snare. Anyway I just adjusted all my triggers, & the snare sounds so much better now. Thanks for the knowledge.
Yw! Watch all my vids at the playlist link. They are all helpful. I've been using it since it came out also in 2019, at least the SE. I also have an incredible library. I've imported sounds that I've been putting together since then and if you're interested, I can give you information. I assume you're on Facebook find me there and DM me.. ua-cam.com/play/PLWMSKolvMwTohPaxuN77iWmNKhSlare4k.html&si=gwpNYzZoTEfh2AzL
FYI - Always happy to help. The new kit is pretty nice, but you certainly don't need to go out and buy it because the strike can sound just as good and play just as well.
Can't wait to get home and try this,I've had my SE Kit for about 1.5months,I am 54yrs old been plYing since I was 10, I'm a pretty good Drummer, but you my friend are incredible! We have different styles but I really enjoy listening to you,Be Safe.
Thank you so much !!! I just bought the kit 4 days ago and watched a few videos on adjusting the hats. Been playing with that on my acoustic hat stand. The hats are a nightmare. Hoping I can dial them in like you did. Holy shit though !!! I didn’t even know there were knobs on the side of the drums !!!!!!! Your the only one I have ever seen mention that fact !!!! I will play with the hats for a few more days. I will probably take your advice and just buy the DM continuous pedal. Thanks again for your very thoughtful videos for us e-drum newbies.
@@AllenLind I just bought the pedal yesterday on Facebook marketplace used for $40. I plugged it in and with a little tweaking of the settings in the module like you described. BANG !!! It just worked very well. I was immediately able to play drums instead of farting around with the hi hat stand controller. I just kept the pad on the hi hat stand, turned the foot away from me and placed the new pedal on the floor and off I went. Thank you sir. You gave me the best advice. You are the man!!!!
@@Cooldrums777 AWESOME!!! yea you dont need to get any special stand if people do exactly what you did! Its all about eliminating the distraction! We just want to PLAY!
THanks! Seriously download and read the manual. Watch my midi ox video on how to save and load trigger settings and then save what you have and then go crazy messing with all the settings to learn what they do! It a very powerful module. Cumbersome at times but it works!
Just bought a strike kit bnew for $1325 two days ago, Haven't finished setting it up. Thanks for this video, comments here says a lot and excited to play it.
Man!! Nice Chops I was checking into these today and just now this popped up on my feed . It was totally worth watching you jam ! And I must say I'm sold
oure very welome! Also I have amazing customized sound library too that took me 3 yrears to compile using SDSE and top drum software . If interested PM me on facebook. Reply
That snare sounds EXACTLY like an old Powerstroke 3 snare head I had on my Pearl acoustic set back in the day!! I love that 3 doors down pop snare sound
@@AllenLind how do you go about getting the customized imported samples like that?! My strike pro SE will be delivered tomorrow!! And another question. What kind of amp do you use for live playing? I’m looking for something LOUD that I can use for crowded live rooms and it still be loud enough to hear perfectly without breaking the bank. I used to big bass guitar amps on my old alesis DM-7 kit and they were ungodly loud
@Jeffmd2020 RE: Samples. PM me on facebook and I'll explain about my ;library. As for amp... I play medium rooms live with this with a band that only has a stick pa with 15 and horm on each side. I use for my personal FOX sound a Harbinger v2315 which kicks ass but I also put my sound through the PA for spread. You will need a mixer too . This is a MUST! plugging into powered speakers with out one is not going to cut it. You need extra gain (gain staging). Either way you need to go through the PA otherwise you sounbd will only eminate from one spot. Unfortunately you'll have to spend a little $$. The v2315 are rated at 2000 watts which doesn't mean much in itself but they get very loud AND clear and don't break a sweat. There is a harbinget 22 series which aren't as good. . I actually have 2 but only use one +PA. Also Mackie thumps are muddy. I use a mackie pro fx 10 w a graphic (older version) and its perfect. I also have a harbinger v2212 right next to me for a monitor. YOU MUST HEAR YOURSELF CLEARLY ON AN EKIT!!! . My sounds are very powerful and will cut through any rock/pop music with proper amplification,. Using an ekit live is a lot of work. Get VERY familiar with it at home before you even attempt it live. Triggers will act differently live on stage than in a studio so really understand the kit! Download and read the manual/ user guide multiple times from the product page. Also Mackie thumps are muddy. I use a mackie pro fx 10 w a graphic (older version) and its perfect. If you PM me on FB I'll show you a few pics of my setup
Excellent video! By far one of the best. I remember using this video as a reference to dial in our first Strike Pro kit in 2020. Now with the newer version, I never wrote down how I got the snare to sound 'thick' AND 'ring' out. Other than decay, to accomplish this sound so I need to go to: Kit>FX/Midi>FX: (and adjust) Reverb Send? Thanks for the information to follow 🙏
First go to kit FX and set up the reverb and then to the kit->voice and then what you ssaid to dial in the amount. If you REALLY want killer sounds, DM me on facebook messenger and I'll tell you what I have
Good luck! Glad it was helpful! I've learned a lot more since then but havent had chance to make any new instruction type vids. If your interested in sounds of my trigger settings DM me on FB. Watch the midi ox video too
Thanks Allen for the reply. I learned something finally. When setting the trigger parameters, the save button must be clicked while in triggers. Otherwise all the trigger settings revert to the original as these are global in the module. I didn’t read the manual and just glossed over that part. Oh, one comment about the video here. You mention log 1 for the Cymbal Bows but the summary text is reflecting log 2. Probably too late to correct it. But I must say the settings work quite well for me. Very much appreciate the time and effort it took for you to put this all together for the UA-cam and drumming community.
READ THE MANUAL!!! OVER AND OVER! LOL FYI - I Change my settings sometimes so the video get you in the ball park but there is no substituting understanding and then experimenting
Thank God I found you. I just got my SE kit and immediately noticed the volume way lower than expected. I was Hella disappointed. I will be going through this video with a fine toothed comb and correcting my settings. Thank you man. Thank you. P.s. This should be setup properly from the factory 🤷♂️
Thanks and Good luck! Its a deep kit!. I keep learning more and more tricks! You can reach me on FB messenger if you get stuck! However, prerequisite is download and read the user guide a few times. Its on the Alesis Strike pro product page under downloads!
Hey man, I could watch you play drums for a very long time and remain fascinated. I, and so many others, I'm sure, sincerely appreciate you sharing this information and the time and effort it took to gather it. I am especially thankful for the "I forgot" input about the knobs on the sides of the drums. I've had trouble with (what I call) "flutter" occurring on my 14" tom and believe that knob being turned fully counter-clockwise may have been the problem. Even if it turns out to not correct the problem, at least I now have a better concept of what the knob does. Keep stroking brother, (and I mean that in the most percussive way!)
Thanks! Find me on facebook and PM me if you want a really nice early christmas gift of 16 gb of killer sounds and kits imported from different vsts! I already did the work so I have no issue sharing. Also I have my current trigger settings stored out there and there is a video I did on Midi-ox that shows how to unload (backup) and reload different trigger settings. Its very easy and only takes a minute once you know what and how to do it. Midi-ox is the free utility.
Hopefully these settings will help me finally get my kit ready to play!! I’ve had it for over a month and haven’t even played 1 song yet!! My symbols with every hit bounce from trigger to trigger and mute themselves and my hi hat even gently closed sounds like it’s completely clamped shut without even so much as a tiny splash sound! Just a solid ting sound
If you PM me on Facebook, I'll give you my trigger sysx file which you can load using midi-ox as explained in my video in this playlist. You can also save you current settings and go back and forth between different files. VERY easy once you understand it. Takes less than 5 min to load or save you triggers. Watch that video AND the one on the DM pedal for the HH
This will help a lot getting started. There are MANY synergies in the triggers along with the voice ->Vel tab-> Vel Level that really effect the response. Suggest for voices on ALL drums and cymbals EXCEPT ride and drum rims you set vel level to 99. Rims are less sensitive and move that parm lower to say 60. Play the surface while moving that parm and see what happens. Use extremes to learn the effect and READ THEDOWNLOADABLE USER GUIDE! Also watch my DM pedal video. I stopped using the strike HH years ago and moved to the Alesis DM hihat continuous pedal so hence that video. There is also one here on the strike hihat but its not the best quality but it too should get you in the ballpark but I really recommend watching the DM PEdal. Also watch this playlist. My most recent music and vids show acoustic kit but the recording is all strike pro with my own custom imported samples. ua-cam.com/play/PLWMSKolvMwTrfD8yZI4mO2sIXrWd8HpCn.html

@@MoffatCreative if your interested I have a pretty awesome library I created using full multisample imports from all major sources..... dm me on Facebook if your interested in details. It opens the kit up more than you can imagine. Transforming really
Allen, thank you for the wealth of information you have shared with all of us. I have owned my Alesis Strike Pro SE since Christmas 2022 and I love everything about it thus far. Your threshold and sensitivity video only enhanced an already pleasurable experience. It seems you explained the settings for the drums, the hi-hat, and the crashes very clearly. What settings do you recommend for the ride cymbal? Unless I missed that in your video this seems to be the missing link. Thank you again!
I had some trouble with my sound module in the first year, one day the bass drum output died, nothing no bass. I was total nightmare for them to respond, but they finally responded. They sent me a new module, and would you believe it, it would not power up at all. I'm getting pissed off now, another prolonged attempt to get they to respond, which they did, and finally sent me a new unit that worked. I can tell you that needing three to get one that works correctly doesn't exactly inspire the feeling that this unit is rock solid and will be for years. Fingers crossed cause it's mine now. That's true shit
I have 2 w zero issues and I use one Live 3x week and one everyday on my studio. I have dealt w su[pport but had to call and always got good results but secret then was to call. Now I hear it a chat but dont know for sure
@@AllenLind My first one was almost one year old when the bass output died. The second not powering up was bizarre. But they sent me a third and it's working well so far. Hopefully the third time is the charm, never had such issues with my old Roland TD-9, so only time will tell.
@@robertkees6048 that sucks that you had that much trouble. How’s your power source? Make sure you have clean power just in case but who knows. Alesis strike to me is the best sounding and most useful module out there but some people have experienced quality issues. I know for a fact the ride symbol is poorly constructed and I’ve been through quite a few of them and I still have one strike ride that works but I also will use the DM 16 two cable ride, which is pretty good replacement and they’ll send it to you if you happen to have a ride that fails and you request it at least they used to. I haven’t had to deal with the Lisa service now for a couple of years but they were always pretty responsive. Are used to call the number and actually talk to somebody always got good results and like I said I have two separate kids. Gig kit is one Tom short and one cumbal short but I do have two modules and so far knock on wood everything’s cool.
@@AllenLind Can you change the pitch of any given drum sound you choose? So far I haven't found that, I had an old Roland TD-9 and you get get in there and tighten or loosen the heads in the module, all kind of things. I like some snare sounds but want them at a higher pitch, do tell.
There very little you can do from a practical sense. If drums are super important to you, maybe you need to move . Sorry to sound flippant but Im not. i could NEVER live in an apartment. Anything that impacts one surface to another will make noise and vibrations. If you have neighbors up down or on the sides you will have issues. Kicks especially transmits serious vibrations through floors and mesh pads on hollow drum shells with also resonate. The SE is a high end kit and you may need to consider rubber pads instead. Also look up tennis ball platforms. They supposedly help. Hang rugs, drapes or any sound absorbing material two inches from the walls and make sure you play on some isolating rug but it may not help much
@@AllenLind What a dick! I'm 65 and playing since I was 13. Maybe some people fell on hard times and had to sell their house, and can only afford an apartment but they can afford this set if it will work in an apartment. That's why the video would help. What a Dick! Go hop in your BMW.
@@bobcropsey2550 FIRST... YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME SO STFU! Otherwise, As I told you there ARE videos out there and I told you, I wasnt being flippant, there is NOT much you can do playing any drum in an apmnt! YOu obviously did not read my whole reply OR chose to ignore it... Plus... you didn't answer any of my questions. Why should I do a video for you when I dont have the issue? I don't OWE you anything. I told you about tennisball platforms. RESEARCH IT! Other people have used them and created videos and I told you that. I asked you if its sound, vibrations or both but you chose to be ... well whatever attitude you call this... and BTW... Im 67 and took m,y first lesson at 7 but who cares? Oh... I drive a 2017 KIA LOL
Hi! My cymbals from playing perspective go left to right 1,3,2 ! One and three are the same crashes , the CZ18 with number 3 pitched up +1. Number 2 on far right is usually a China - the zild Oriental (last one in the stock list I think ) I use bow sounds for bow and edge sounds for edge with bows set with a log 1 curve which allows for smooth swells! Edge is linear. The hihats are rhe sab reg 15s which sound to me like my acoustics
Just now saw your video.. GREAT information! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to help us players that use the awesome Alesis Strike Pro sets!!! I can't wait to adjust my settings!!!... Do you have any suggestion of how to get a better sound from the drums in your in ears?? If you're willing to share that would be great!!! Thanks!!
First make sure your in ears are a proper fit. loose fitting in ears will take away almost ALL of your low end. That said what specifically are you having issues w re: in ears. What kind do you have? What are they connected too (headphone jack? Mixer?)? Are you using them with a band or by yourself? How much outside noise is there (other amps, PA etc)? You likely will need something like a behringer powerplay in ear amp but likely your first issue is probably the in ears aren't all the way in your ears and night tightly fit. You should not be able to hear anything outside when they are inserted right. Let me know more info for better targeted help! I also also have a killer custom imported sound library I've created over the years and if you're interested PM me on FB. Watch all my instruction vids here too to learn more, particularly the DM Pedal vid if you're struggling with your HH (as most people do in the beginning. Problem solved!
Thank you so much for getting back to me…. I do use a Behringer 4 channel little board to power my ears. My band uses an X32 mixer. My acoustic drums sound fine though them. I was just wondering if there was any suggestions you have on the in ears EQ or do I just experiment? Which is fine. I’ve been watching all your videos. Awesome and clearly understandable guidance. Yes…. I’m interested in different sounds and pre-made kits to download… Let me know! Thanks!!!!!
@@dandillon2010 Sorry more questions. lAre you sending main outs (L+R) to the board and getting the feed back from the x32 or are you taking an independent signal from the strike directly to your mixer? Are you using the 8 outs at all? Basically depending on the kit your using ( I use mostly custom samples etc), you shouldn't need to do too much as the good sounding kits are basically already eq'd well for direct out and headphones. I'd also go very light if any on actual compression (not the gain I talked about) because even a little compression live will make your kit mud and not cut through. As for tone, Maybe a hi pass on the over all sound at like 35-40 to filter out super sub frequencies to avoid distortion and other eq to taste. Remember that the individual voices have the tone tab which has a hi and lopass filter. I find for my sounds live, the 2 lowest toms from my sounds a very bottom heavy so I put a hipass on them set only to like 2-4 at most. I also dial down some low tom decay to get rid of some "ring". Like using a little moongel. If you're on Facebook, DM me and I'll give you the lowdown on my library and you can decide what you want to do. What kits do you use? Curious as to what sounds your using as there is quite the variety in the stock sounds. Best homegrown STOCK kits i recommend are from SIREN DRUMS. He has free downloads on the youtube channel
my problem with the hi hat was my stand lmao. spring tension was way too loose for how heavy the hats are. once that was adjusted along with these settings and some tweaking to my liking everything was smooth sailing
Awesome explanation! Thanks so much. I have some kits that Drumtech put together. I am going to check their settings and compare to what you taught. 👍 Your playing was great too!
Thanks and good luck! Kits from drumtec do not include trigger settings! Nor do they ANY sounds not included with the strike. They are simply layered for youy but are things you should be able to do yourself! A better an FREE alternative however comes from Siren Drums youtube from his video on the Black and Wghite kit where he includes his own EXCELLENT customized layered sounds for FREE!! NOTE: Triggers are GLOBAL and not on the SDCARD nor are saved with kits so regardless of the kits you use, these trigger settings apply to ALL! The Vel Level in the Kit Vel tab however will effect your dynamics. I suggest for everything (except maybe snare rim) you set to 99! The low the setting the less dynamic so if you want you drums to have the same velocity sensitivy from the multisamples as an acoustic kit, 99 is the proper value. Do that on BOTH layers of each pad AND cymbal but please experiment! Thats how you will learn what these do. Also, I used to have my overall Utility Trigger Sens -> LOW as it helped with triggering VSTs but lately ive had it on HIGH but just made adjustments to compensate, mostly sensitivty. You'll just have to use these as a guide
Hello Allen, Thanks for your amazing video’s. Insipring and very helpfull. Loving my Strike SE every day and your video’s have helped me deciding for this kit. No regrets! Great cymbalswells, awesome hihat reponse and overall understanding of the module, thanks to you!! I have been really struggling with the output volume from the stereo outs. Only setting the comp to 24 will give me some output that is even with my strike multipad. But it causes a big humm when going through my mixer or direct into the active speaker. Could it be that there is something wrong with the outputs? Again Thanks for your videos, keep them comune!
You shouldn't need to raise the comp level anywhere near that. Are you compressing the kit, maybe way too much? With ,y module faders basically centered and my comp threshold at 0 and gain at +7, any louder than that starts to hurt! You've still got something wierd going on in your setup. I also have a multipad and don't have that issue at issue. What are you plugging the moduyle into for amplification and are you using a mixer? Your gain staging is off somewhere. Better to find me on facebook and message me in messenger if you want more detailed help
@@AllenLind Thank you Allen, been very swamped the last month, so wasn't able to answer or look into it more. I've only used facebook for Craig Blundell's group, but I will look you up and contact you. Keep up the great videos, I love them!
Thanks for the tips on settings… it helped me familiarize me with the module! Can you help me find a good “cross stick “ sound on the module, and how do you transfer that sound to the snare rim?…thanks!
Hi Allen. Looks like you you are very experienced. Do you have hints for headphone outputs? I installed the kit today but am very dissapointed on the headphones output level. Would be heet to hear from you
FYI: No doubt this has to do with my kit, which isn't Alesis (converted Mapex Mars kit with drum-tech 2 ply heads) but my bass drum settings were very different. Your threshold 35, mine 100. Your retrig 23, mine 54. I tried changing just one of the two and vise versa, to see if I could have either value and make it work, I'd get double hits like crazy with your settings. Your sensitivity setting was fine on my end though. Thanks
I also use a RT-30 rolkand bass drum trigger on one of my kits and it works perfect. What kick trigger are you using? I would experiment. threshold of 100 will give zero dynamics and only trigger for the loudest hits. I don't think yo understand how these settings work. Start at ground zero. Make sure trigger is installed correctly and any settings on the trigger itself set to the default. Download and read user guide from the web site product page too!
@@AllenLind - Yup, I just got the module so I'm not good with it yet, but I do understand what settings such as "threshold" and "retrigger" means. My triggers are from Convertible Percussions. 100 threshold sounds like a weird setting to me too but for whatever reason if I put it lower I get double hits like crazy which makes no sense. I don't care as much about dynamics with my bass drum but I can get soft hits in there with 100 threshold for whatever reason if I try. My bass drum pedals are the Tama power glides with the skinny felt beaters. The trigger head is a few mm above the bass drum rim. Thanks I will continue to experiment (I have a lot so far) and RTFM! (read the manual) Nice chops man, it's cool seeing a legit drummer play the Alesis Strike kit. I half expect you guys to thumb your nose at it.
@@ikigai47 yea be patient. I was "guru" in all those groups. Ask about me lol you'll get colorful responses. Some thought I worked for alesis lol. I didn't . I also started the whole dm pedal craze after giving up on all piston hihat stand controllers like strike, vh11 and goedrum. They all suck so I suggest you watch my vid on that ... dm pedal... in this playlist. Anyway I play the shit out of it and have 2 kits but only one bass drum. I bought a cheap bass drum for the second and put the Roland rt30 kick trigger on it. Perfect and easy to dial in. I suggest ditching what ever you are using and get one of those. Also stuff you're kick with pillows to avoid additional bounce and lastly. Make sure your pedal doesn't have too much secondary bounce . I had to adjust my pedals so they don't have much "slapback" on the head. Retrigger , sens and threshold all work in synergy so you need to find the right combo starting with my method to get you in the ball park. Yes... for rock music you don't need super dynamics on the kick but you can get them with proper setting and triggers . Oh.. very important ... make sure the kick is isolated and not touching any of the rack legs etc!!! Sympathetic vibrations are nightmare to ekits sometimes. If you want more help dm me on Facebook. I help a lot of users .. Just not in the groups where most people have no clue and don't listen . I had to tell people the same thing over and over and over again. There's no way to pin post or say stuff so you have to just keep repeating things to people and I just got sick of it. Plus I created a library of Sound that I was giving awayfor a very small donation and got a lot of flack for it. People are resentful and jealous, so I just got out of the whole thing but seriously ask around people know me.
@@AllenLind - No! I just ordered the Magnatrack hi-hat kit for my low volume hats (10 to 20 day wait) because from the short install vids it looked better than most others I saw (less than 2 minutes for both vids - Pedal install: ua-cam.com/video/6tUzg6UtLw0/v-deo.html The rest of it ua-cam.com/video/KnfG0-6Gh1U/v-deo.html ) AND I have an Alesis DM pedal out in the garage (from my old DM10 kit) that I never even tried before since back then I used a real hi hat in a hybrid kit. Should I hurry up and cancel the order? lol Right now I have a Zildjian quick beat hi hat I'm using on a Gibralter HH stand in a hybrid config. For low volume hihats piston stands are garbage? I'm wondering if LV hats can even work with Alesis DM pedal or if my Magnatrack system is just as good Cool I'll get the Roland trigger. I thought for sure the clip on triggers were garbage in comparison to the ones that mount on a bar since they move the trigger closer to the actual beater impact location. I mean, the Roland trigger is a cone piezo just like mine, only it's at the end of the drum clipped on For sure. Since I am using a real Mapex Mars acoustic kit converted, I have no cage this time so phantom triggers shouldn't be an issue, though I did have an issue which I've fixed where tom2 was lightly phantom triggering from bass drum hits. Damn I hate Facebook. I quit due to all the drama (man people just love to bitch and moan all day. Too much drama) and now they want my ID to sign up which I'm not a fan of given Zuckerberg's proven corruption. I'll see if they're still asking for ID and if so, I'll see you on there. Out of curiosity where are you located? I get northeast vibes. I'm in Dallas, TX but I'm from the west coast haha! Bro I worked in IT for years. I can't tell you how many times people would ask for things, not take notes, and come back and ask the same shit over and over. I eventually cut them off. That's how RTFM got to be famous acronym in tech (it stands for: READ THE FUCKING MANUAL). You're a natural born teacher. I was the same way in my primary instrument (guitar), but I got jaded because so many times people would express a great interest in learning. I'd break my back getting them resources, giving them things they'd need, searching out links for their situation, sometimes even free lessons, and every single time they'd just end up quitting. So deflating. When I started all I had was passion but I was in Saudi Arabia in the 80s (dad had a job for the airlines so he moved us there a few years). No teachers, no music stores, no internet, no books. I found a real copy strat in a toy store, found a girl at school that knew how to tune it, and just muscled my way through it rewinding cassettes over and over and over to match the sounds I was hearing. I used paper clips or coins as picks. So you can imagine when I see people giving up these days with ENDLESS resources how it sickens me.
well youve wasted you $$ with the magnatrac... I have one and its not good solution . I'll sell it to you cheap! (FYI - Worked for IT - IBM/Bell and ATT/Bell Labs for 35 yr!) . ONLY solution that works for HH is the DM Pedal (DID YOU WATCH MY VIDEO???) or maybe the FD 8 but you'll learn the hard way. YOure retrigger at that number guaranteed will cause missing hits but again not sure about the trigger youre using but it sounds like its too hot. Sell it and get an RT30 kick from Roland. For the Kick it works perfect! Kick is difference than the other drums. Level of dynamics are not the same (no ghost notes etc...) Otherwise between your kick and hihat you'll be distracted continuously and your playing will suffer. YOu're supposed to play your kit without anything mistriggering taking away from your music focus. I know all this from absolute experience and wasted my share of $$ on junky products until I realized what the issues really were... Otherwise good luck
They are doifferent. For the ride bell, I go into the VEL tab and lower the vel level to around 75 to get more consistent bell hits. Otherwise vel level is 99. For crashes i seem to have log 1 curves for both bow and edge . For ride i have log one on bell and linear for bow and edge. I don't use ride edge much though
Awesome help. Am new to this and learning. I have to have most threshold setting at 8-10, otherwise I get anywhere from consistent to occasional ghost triggering, even when the kit sits idol. This problem goes away at a 8-10 setting, but then I am loosing some dynamics. Any thought on what might be causing this ghosting? Cheers!
My guess is some pieces are touching other peices. What pads/voices are "ghost triggering?" You shouldn't have that even with thresholds as low a 6 for most cases. Make sure your sensitivityies arent overly high eother but the ghost triggering is usally associated with low thresholds and / or sympathetic vibrations or just direct contact with other peices. Its odd it occurs when kit is ido but if things are touching even a sligh contact COULD cause a trigger. :Lastly, is anything hooked up to midi in? Is you module hooked to a computer? If so try unplugging the use from computer as you MIGHHT be getting some "phantom" midi in signals from the computer. Lastly, make sure the kick isn't touching the rack. If you need more help you can messge me on FB using messenger
@@AllenLind Thanks man! No midi in. No computer is connected. Nothing is touching anything. And the kick is not touch the rack. As for which pads - it's the snare, snare rim, all 4 toms and tom rims, ride, and HH. All ghost triggers with the kit idol until the threshold is turned up to 8-10. Kit is on a solid floor, on a carpet. Seems odd to me, but it does go away once threshold settings are set to 8-10.
FYI: Found a major flaw with EZ Drummer 3. I have 6 toms and it won't allow me to use all 6 toms which is ridiculous. "That feature is reserved for Superior Drummer 3" as support said. Anyway, just an FYI in case this comes up again to a friend when talking about Drum software.
It's not a flaw, it's by design EZ Drummer three only supports five toms in their kit which is really plenty which and part of the reason why easy Drummer three is under $200 and superior Drummer three is twice as much and, in my opinion, doesn't even sound as good. The Strike Pro only supports four toms unless you split which you must be doing . If you want to use easy drummer, three with six toms import the multi samples yourself ising sdse and strike Editor into the module and adjust pitch of the appropriate drum so you can get six toms with appropriate pitches,, which is what I do anyway. And if you're going to trigger easy, Drummer three use one of your other Toms for a different sound . It's easy to remap the midi . also so when I use easy Drummer three I don't even use all the toms. I just go with the four and depending what I'm doing I select which four I want. Slate 5 only supports 4 from triggering aspect
@@AllenLind - Hey Allen! Yeah I get that it's by design. When I say flaw I don't mean a glitch, or bug. I just mean it's a shortcoming of the sw in my opinion. It would take nothing to allow you to add toms. Also, to be fair: When you say it doesn't sound as good, I think it's probably drum kit dependent more than superior audio quality. They're both recorded professionally, often in legendary studios with the best engineers, musicians, mics, etc. Very impressive the lengths they often go to in how they're recorded. When I popped open SD2 the first kit I played to my ears actually sounded better than EZ3's house kit, but again, EZ3 also has kits that sound better than some of my SD kits. As far as sound quality though I find them equal. Both are 24bit Yeah I'm definitely running splitters to get all my toms used. Wow, GREAT TIP on SDSE thanks! I'm unfamiliar with SDSE but did a little digging and it sounds promising. That's what I need, the proper workaround for this and once again you've come through. I will study on how to accomplish this. As of this moment I'm just using SD2 which allows as many toms as I want. The Rock Solid kit is great. I'm still toying with the idea of using a real snare mixed in with my electric kit. I'm big on ghost notes and I find myself, no matter how much I adjust sensitivity / take off compression, etc, having to use the side of the snare head to get softer yet accurately triggered ghost notes. But it still doesn't have the dynamics of a real snare. I used to have a Dunnett snare which I was in love with. Hopefully I can find something a little more reasonably priced IF I go that route Btw, I do LOVE EZ3. Primarily due to certain kits. I used my free plugin promo to get the Industrial kit for some super unique sounds and those sounds have been triggering song ideas for me like crazy even though I'm not typically big into non acoustic sounds) and at the end of the day, my #1 music priority is writing songs so I can't tell you how excited I am. Anything that gets song ideas flowing for me really makes me happy. Happy New Year brother, hope your Christmas was good too
@@ikigai47 it's not about the sound quality it's about the type of sounds that are recorded. Superior Drummer three sounds are all very naturally recorded Sounds that are great if you're looking for pre-production sounds but easy Drummer three sounds are music ready , like slate 5 and ready to go with many styles of music right out of the box. Superior drummer three is beautifully recorded but as is l, they completely lack impactand my opinion do cut through out of the box with most popular Music styles. If you have superior Drummer three you better be a good Recording , engineer or Sound Man.
@@ikigai47 by the way, in order to get ghost notes you have to adjust the velocity curve on your ezd 3 or any vst drums. You need a log rhythmic curve with a pretty steep curve, starting low and moving up and you'll get ghost notes. I get perfect ghost notes when I trigger.
@@AllenLind - Oh I gotcha. I knew I must have misunderstood somehow. I'm gonna pass on SD3 for now, and just stick with SD2 because it works just fine for me and I spent SO much money on gear the past few months. I am a pretty competent engineer, at least I believe in my ear and I like to tinker so I should be fine, but I WILL use the shit out of EZDrummer 3 for quick fleshing out of songs I'm writing, it's damn good software I just wish it was end all good sw (wish it allowed me to play my entire kit on it live). For mastering though I will do what I often do and send files to a pro studio and have them deal with it since I don't trust my mastering as much as my regular audio engineering. I even used Abbey Road studio once, you can pick your mastering engineers there online from a list of award winning industry guys and it only cost a few hundred last checked (prior to covid)
Watch my other video on threshold and sensitivity! Should help in any context however triggers do not track well with resonant heads. Best you’ll get are basic which may be ok if you’re playing straight rock or pop but very hard to dial in real acoustic heads w triggers to get stuff like ghost notes!
Hey Allen Lind, where did you get Power Station DW-1? I have firmware update 1.5... did they delete that kit or is this a custom kit that you made? Sounds awesome
HA! Thanks! Blessing and a curse! Especially at local level. Im kind of an older guy now just playing locally but yea, I'm busy! I try to get in the really cool stuff when I do studio recording . I have my own called OVer the Hill Studio. Alot of stuff on the youtube page in playlists!

What are your thresholds at on your cymbals? Is it triggering you bows and edges? Are any of the rack boom/Tom brackets touching each other transferring vibration? Thresholds shouldn’t be lower than 6 on anything. Also lower sensitivities to where you don’t lose any response. Lastly increase crosstalk send on the 10 and increase crosstalk receive on the cymbals that are “leaking”. Fyi A little crosstalk doesn’t matter. Real drums resonate each other too to a degree and when your playing may not be noticeable but check out all those things. Having rack attachments touching each other and or too low thresholds are the biggest causes I’ve found
Hi Allen. Thank you for your valuable info. I started playing drums 5 months ago and bought my new alesis strike pro se and I have a problem with the bass drum. I have to set the millenium pedal beater far way up from the center of the drum head in order to have a normal sound. If I set it in the middle I have to hit very hard in order to barely have a sound. What is the problem? Should I use the plastic part (black) or white part( felt)?
Make sure the beater hits as much in the center of the large impact pad as possible. Sometimes the trigger assembly inside the the bass drum moves back from the head leading to poor piezo contact. If my settings don’t help, take the batter head off and check that the quarter sized piezo is sitting maybe 1/8 in above the wooden rim of the bass drum and then make sure the assembly is secure but don’t overtighteb and strip the wood. The piezo needs to make solid contact with the head as it picks up the vibrations from the beater hitting the impact pad.
Do you have any of these settings documents like possibly in a spreadsheet? What about settings like Voice, EFX, etc. Any criteria for those? Thank you.
Hi! Sorry but no. To some degree the settings are individualized . As for fx, I really only just use a little bit of reverb on the drum pads. Kick and high hat. I really don’t use the compressor for anything but volume. Voices I recommend finding siren drums videos and he has some free kits I think under his black-and-white video that you can download that are really good lessons in themselves for how to put voices together. If you find me and message me on Facebook I might be able to send you some content
@@AllenLind Thanks Allen. I appreciate the reply. I did get all the kits from Siren as well as three offerings for Alesis from Drum Tec. All really nice kits. I’ve gone through the presets and picked my fav’s and am doing that same with the Drum Tac and Siren offerings. Some really great kits here. I also wanted to compliment your drumming. Really great stuff. I enjoyed many of the blues videos from years gone by. I’m not on social media so I can’t connect with you on FB.
@@pmhronas My stuff blows them all away. I imported many samples which I cant mention. I was somewhat disappointed in drumtec as most of them are made of stock sounds but they do have a couple of nice ones. Email me a stxx@comcast.net

When i hit triggers button on module, i can only go thru different pads and cymbals with the scroll dial, why is it not changing upon hitting pads and cymbals physically with my drumsticks?
make sure the "Note Chase" button is on and it will work. Its the upper left button. (PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND READ THE USER GUIDE FROM THE STRIKE DOWNLOADS FROM THE ALESIS PRODUCT PAGE!!!) However be careful and I recommend turning the button off while you are adjusting a particular pad because its easy to accidently hit another pad in the middle of adustments and not realize it and then you've gone down a rabbit hole. Watch this video of mine to learn how to save and restore CURRENT trigger settings (NOT factory restore) ua-cam.com/video/ClRgl7vAoIc/v-deo.htmlsi=N8bNbhpmGhLT-9Up
@AllenLind I've been reading thru the manual and things are making more sense and am becoming more comfortable with making adjustments. However I have not come across anything that says or shows me if it is possible to save velocity adjustments per kit? Is it possible?
@@ironmike92 well you can't do full velocity settings like triggers overall because those are global and you only have one set of trigger settings in the whole module which is the case in all brands However, in each voice, you have the VEL tab. The first parameter for each layer is velocity level and this does pretty much I believe what you're asking for. I have a library of almost 30 GB of sounds and hundreds of kits taken from all the major sources has a lot of these things fine tuned already but as an FYI, if you lower the level on a particular voice/layer, let's say use the symbol as an example you'll get more consistent hits for inconsistent trigger surfaces like ride bell start w 72 on the ride bell and see what happens) . For everything other than a few of the cymbals you should have thise set to 99 and you'll get the most realistic response (snare and Tom's) and you could find that from there. I mean if you use 50 kids it's a lot of effort to go through them all but if you use a few main kids, you can easily fine-tune that. And there are a few other parameters within that tab that are also very interesting and fun the mess around with. If you're interested in my library DM me on Facebook and if you're not on Facebook, let you know I'll give you another way. Also I have my trigger settings which are likely as good as they can get (some people like minor tweaks) that I can share but again, the midi ox (or similar for Mac) .
Go to your hihat and you'll see a tab for the pedal! FD9 is a hotter unit but the curves matters. Try EXP1 on top and LOG2 on bottom. You'll have to mess with the other settings to make up for the roland signal
I can't get my kick to not double trigger. It's doing too much micro-bouncing on every hit, I tried loosening the mesh head and raising the threshold, plus messing with all the other knobs but I still have that false triggering. I should say I bury my beater and I like it that way, I don't want to change my playing style since it works perfectly with my acoustic kit
You don’t need to change your technique! Try this.. get an Evan’s patch and use felt side of beater to minimize bounce. As long as You have a patch you can use felt and the Evan’s patch is a great material not overly bouncy. Then, set retrigger to 20, sensitivity to 30 and thresh to 18. My overall utility trigger = high. Start with those things. You may need to play with pedal tension too. It all works together but you shouldn’t need to change style. I bury the beater too for solid beats etc. Check out my solo album, “Disclosure”. All drums and percussion (except trk 6 and 8) are the strike pro se ua-cam.com/play/PLWMSKolvMwTqbL0QRfkVI2W_ULm7_ZCtG.html
@@AllenLind the patch and felt side of the beaters helped a bit, I also have very loose tension on the head, I heard some say that tighter is less bouncy? Do you agree with this? Right now it's loose enough that most of the bounce comes from the foam behind the mesh
@@reezlaw Personally, i believe the head has little to do with it. Its your pedal tension settings but mainly your trigger settings. There will almost always be some ghost bouncing if your playing heal up. I use Sens 30, retrig 20 and thresh 18. Overall utility trigger = high. Also foot technique does matter as well but primarily the trigger settings
@@AllenLind thank you for your replies mate. I will try your settings for sure. I'm struggling to find a sweet spot where I can get rid of false triggering and at the same time have consistent heel-toe doubles (which I'm trying to develop), it's usually one or the other so I settle for the less sensitive settings because I need to be able to play my band's songs which have no fast double bass but lots of syncopated stuff, AKA false-trigger hell
Layering totally important to getting fat sounds. i have a huge library of imported VSTs and kits I created layering those sounds, mainly toms and snares, sometimes layered with stock toms
@@Noah-gq7pq Thanks! I imported all my own custom samples from many VSTs which to me is where the true value of the module comes in! I layer those sounds, sometimes with stock sounds. These videos are pretty old now and I have some newer incredible sounding kits. PM me on FB if interested
@@AllenLind ok so i can go online and get newer sounds thats cool the stock ones are ok but they could be a lot better,,i think most of the snares are thn and wirey sounding,,and the kicks arn't to punchy either
Is there a way to add rimshot to the snare rim? Maybe a silly question but, every time I hit the snare it keep saying “rim”. I cannot figure out how to make the rimshot on the snare, an actual rimshot
On any and all ekits (except maybe the digital Roland) you cannot trigger the rim and head simultaneously. If you want a rum shot you can add the rim shot sound to the snare rim layer 1 and a side stick layer 2. Then you adjust the individual velocity levels in the main voice view to trigger the sidestick with quieter hits and rimshot with hard hits. The. You fine tune the trigger level using the vel level in the vel tab to raise or lower the level of the hits. Then you need to practice hitting rim shots and side sticks cause if you hit both the same time,’one sound will cancel
We have an Alesis strike pro SE at church that I'm struggling with. Everything except for the kick drum is already set up for dynamics. Not as good as you showed us here. The kick drum is an all or nothing issue for me. Drives me crazy when I'm playing a soft song and I can be quiet on everything except for the kick. Play too soft and no sound. Play just a little bit harder and BOOM. So annoying. Do the trigger settings you talked about on the snare work for the kick drum? I tried moving the jack from the snare to the kick and whalla i could play dynamics on the kick but switch it back and you are back to the all or nothing. Please help before I throw these things away.
Adjust you threshold lower as that determine the soft response and then adjust the sentivity up from zero until you here the full sound and add a few numbers to that. also use linear curve for ALL drums. I have a video on that. Kick is just as responsive as anything else if you set it right and use a good sample
Why did you hool up 2? You dont need 2. You likely have threshold to low. sensitivity to high and or retrigger too low. 2 peizos will likel give a signal too hot to be properly setup. Remove 2nd piezo. Absolutely no need for it. All you need is one in center and one on rim. i use for snare haed; Sens = 40, retrig 22 and thresh 6. linear curve

I've been using your settings for a while(I'm a newer drummer). I started practicing flams and noticed they don't always trigger properly. Any suggestions?
Great vid and great playing fellow drummer. A question for you : what kit are you using in this vid ? Just got my Strike SE and can't seem to get a decent snare sound, still trying to figure why. I have the DrumTec kits but still they dont sound the way their demo sounds. I guess I've missed something in the module but cant figure out why.
Hi! What are you playing through? Also check out “at the source studio” channel as he has some great kits for download. Frankly wouldn’t pay for sounds as there nothing in them you can’t do on your own. Download and Read the manual from the Alesis site. Very very important! The at the source kits (formally siren drums) are great examples and lessons on how to layer sounds! I suggest finding me on Facebook and PM me and I can help further
Im having a lot of trouble with cymbal calibration. I can’t seem to get definitive hits on the edge or bow. I can hit the same exact spot and get hits on both. I’ve had my kit 2 days abs the first thing I did was put in the exact settings
The edge is a relatively small area. For crashes assign an sound to edge and bow sound to bow. When you crash the cymbal like you would hit a normal Crash symbol you’re going to get the Edge sound and if you try to ride the bow you’re going to get the Bow sound. Trying to figure out exactly where the boundaries is a waste of time. Just use the symbol like you normally would and he symbol and you’ll be fine. When you hit the crash cymbal kind of straight on or with a slicing motion you’re going to get the edge sound.
@@AllenLind thanks. Been having a lot of trouble with my module. Have owned it 6 days and now non my trigger settings will save. So I have to keep the module on or redo all my triggers every day
@@AllenLind unrelated comment. I’m having trouble with my strike pro SE hi hat. I have the pedal setting down well but just like my other cymbals I can’t really control what part of the hat I am hitting very well. Like my edge trigger isn’t always going to be the one triggered even if it’s what I’m hitting.
My kicks are mostly imported from Slate 5 but there are plenty of nice stock kicks. If you reach me on FB messenger I may be able to help you with content but I cant go through the voices here....
Pm me on Facebook . Don’t really understand question But if you’re talking about converting an E kit from an acoustic it I’m not an expert on that. But you can reach out to me on Facebook messenger
You can save the settings. Trigger settings are global so they apply to all pads all the time. You can also use a midi utilities to save different sets of trigger settings if you’re experimenting and I have a video on that as well. It’s the one about Midi-OX
Make sure you Tom not touching a cymbal stand. I don’t use it much but there are crosstalk settings that can help that. This video would have nothing to do With that unless you didn’t pay attention where I said never set a theshold less than 5 and those low setting and are really only valid for the HH and snare . If your toms or cymbals have a threshold lower than say 6 they may trigger from low level vibrations. If you followed the procedure properly and again, nothing is touching each other you should not have this issue. Try some of these settings: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-DXtFqNFXouFWkLMckoJtoG0jDmXp74D
@@AllenLind how do you go about getting the customized imported samples like that?! My strike pro SE will be delivered tomorrow!! And another question. What kind of amp do you use for live playing? I used to big bass guitar amps on my old alesis DM-7 kit and they were ungodly loud
@Jeffmd2020
RE: Samples.

This video answered all my questions and relieved my woes, especially with the cymbal segment. Thank you!
Good luck! Glad it was helpful! I've learned a lot more since then but havent had chance to make any new instruction type vids. If your interested in sounds of my trigger settings DM me on FB. Watch the midi ox video too
Your right settings/fixes are in the module. HI hat fixed. Thanks for the vid, simple explanation....
AWESOME MAN! Glad it helped you! Watch my DM Pedal Video too. Its a great cheap alternative to using the HH stand. Its what I use now
You are correct Allen. I am learning that very quickly. Thank you for the support! Happy Drumming!!
I don’t even have an e kit, but this guy is money!! Kudos bud, fantastic content!
Yea it will solve THAT issue for sure but watch the DM pedal video, The Hihat is the most frustrating prt of this and any ekit
My son just bought the Strike Pro SE, have it here in our home studio. I plan on applying your helpful info. Many thanks!

Thanks for this post, and all of your posts. I believe you are the "Yoda" of the Strike Module. This was very helpful.
Thanks glad to help!
Thanks you!!!
@@AllenLind thank you
Great Video brother Thank you for your time and Sharing!!! We appreciate you!
YOUR WELCOME!!
Came here to learn stuff about my new kit...gonna implement it and see how it goes

If you PM me on FB I'll give you screenshots
@@robertkees6048 Yes, under voice->tone is are 2 pitch controls. 1 semitomes and one fine. Pitch up or down
PLEASE do a short video on how QUIET or LOUD these drums are when not plugged in. I live in a tight apartment with thin walls. Thanks.

Great explanation! Can you show how you organised your cymbals? I’d love to have the same set up

Thank you so much for this video!
Great video. Thank you.
Awesome explanation! Thanks so much. I have some kits that Drumtech put together. I am going to check their settings and compare to what you taught. 👍
Your playing was great too!
@@AllenLind Thanks for that info. I didn't know that Drumtec doesn't include trigger settings. I do have the Siren kits as well.
Drumtec doesnt send trigger settings! THEY ARE GLOBAL AND ONLY ONE SET INTERNALLY TO THE MODULE.
Great playing and tips, much appreciated!
Thank you!
No youre totally wrong about the comp level. Watch my video on that!!! If you do it right +6 or 7 is MORE THAN ENOUGH!!!

Hi Allen. Looks like you you are very experienced. Do you have hints for headphone outputs? I installed the kit today but am very dissapointed on the headphones output level. Would be heet to hear from you
I explain it clearly in this video! Use the compressor on drums only for volume. Watch the vid again to the end

Should I hurry up and cancel the order? lol Right now I have a Zildjian quick beat hi hat I'm using on a Gibralter HH stand in a hybrid config. For low volume hihats piston stands are garbage? I'm wondering if LV hats can even work with Alesis DM pedal or if my Magnatrack system is just as good
Cool I'll get the Roland trigger. I thought for sure the clip on triggers were garbage in comparison to the ones that mount on a bar since they move the trigger closer to the actual beater impact location. I mean, the Roland trigger is a cone piezo just like mine, only it's at the end of the drum clipped on
For sure.
I'll see if they're still asking for ID and if so, I'll see you on there. haha!

Great video. Thank you. What about ride cymbal settings? Same as crashes?
Good video thank you very much 🙏

Hey Allen, any chance you've saved the drum set (around 7 min) online where it can be downloaded?
PM me on facebook I give you all my stuff
If you want to use easy drummer, three with six toms import the multi samples yourself ising sdse and strike
Editor into the module and adjust pitch of the appropriate drum so you can get six toms with appropriate pitches,, which is what I do anyway.
Both are 24bit
Yeah I'm definitely running splitters to get all my toms used.
Hopefully I can find something a little more reasonably priced IF I go that route
Btw, I do LOVE EZ3.
Great video, but I'd still kill for some help setting up the triggers on acoustic drums...

Are these changes just for the kit you are in? Can you make the changes for all kits?
Thanks for the video dude! Really helpful but my problem still persists my 10" tom keeps triggering my ride and crashes how do i get it to stop?
What are your thresholds at on your cymbals? Is it triggering you bows and edges? Are any of the rack boom/Tom brackets touching each other transferring vibration? Thresholds shouldn’t be lower than 6 on anything. Also lower sensitivities to where you don’t lose any response. Lastly increase crosstalk send on the 10 and increase crosstalk receive on the cymbals that are “leaking”. Fyi A little crosstalk doesn’t matter. Real drums resonate each other too to a degree and when your playing may not be noticeable but check out all those things. Having rack attachments touching each other and or too low thresholds are the biggest causes I’ve found
Saw your hi hat spot you said you wentnwith the alesis dm pedal? Can you steer me into getting the right model number? Thank you!

Do you happen to now what the letters stand for in the Instrument list?
Not sure I know what you mean by instrument list... If youre refering to MY kit abbreviations... yes I do. Otherwise I understand pretty much everything about this kit. if you cn PM me on facebook it would easier to communicate
How do ya get to the Pedal Settings, I have a Roland FD-9 ?
All drums and percussion (except trk 6 and 8) are the strike pro se

@@AllenLind thanks man, I actually have an Evans patch lying around and my beaters have a felt side so I can try this today.. Cheers
I'm struggling to find a sweet spot where I can get rid of false triggering and at the same time have consistent heel-toe doubles (which I'm trying to develop), it's usually one or the other so I settle for the less sensitive settings because I need to be able to play my band's songs which have no fast double bass but lots of syncopated stuff, AKA false-trigger hell
thank you!!!!!!!!!
wow allen found your vids again the people at alesis speek geek you speak english
loved the video on setting ,sence,,thresh,,curves,,how important is the layer thn,,me no gets dat,,,lol

Also you might have threshold
Too low for the rim if it keeps getting triggered even when you hit the head
Kick is just as responsive as anything else if you set it right and use a good sample
im getting a double trigger on my snare since i changed the piezo,,i hooked two piezo's in parallel,,any suggestion
Why did you hool up 2? You dont need 2. You likely have threshold to low. sensitivity to high and or retrigger too low. 2 peizos will likel give a signal too hot to be properly setup. Remove 2nd piezo. Absolutely no need for it. All you need is one in center and one on rim. i use for snare haed; Sens = 40, retrig 22 and thresh 6. linear curve
oure very welome! Also I have amazing customized sound library too that took me 3 yrears to compile using SDSE and top drum software . If interested PM me on facebook.

When you hit the crash cymbal kind of straight on or with a slicing motion you’re going to get the edge sound.

what is your presets and set up for you kicks?
My kicks are mostly imported from Slate 5 but there are plenty of nice stock kicks. If you reach me on FB messenger I may be able to help you with content but I cant go through the voices here....
Where pads are the same size are these settings specific to the actual pad being used as say Tom1 or does is not matter?
Really doesn’t matter however the small 8 inch might need a slight clockwise nudge of the sensitivity knob on the pad itself.
whats parts needed to convert i have paddle

Don’t really understand question But if you’re talking about converting an E kit from an acoustic it I’m not an expert on that. But you can reach out to me on Facebook messenger
THUMBS UP!!!
Does it save these settings? Or do you have to do this every time?
There's a save option
You can save the settings. Trigger settings are global so they apply to all pads all the time. You can also use a midi utilities to save different sets of trigger settings if you’re experimenting and I have a video on that as well. It’s the one about Midi-OX
Just did it and my cymbals trigger everytime I hit a tom…. Wtf.
Try some of these settings:
