I bought a strike pro kit almost 6 months ago and bought a used Rolland vh11 thinking that would fix the problems but it didn't fix all of them. Then I quit playing 2 months ago due the my pedal breaking (had it for 5 years) and the hi hat issues.. I saw this video and decided to give the fixes a shot.. after watching I was able to fix EVERYTHING I was having an issue with. I've got a new pedal on its way and I'm ready to start playing again. Thank you very much sir!
I know you can add pads by using a splitter acid using the Tom rim triggers to run a sound to a new pad. You seem to have quite a few cymbal pads. I was wondering how you did yours. And thank for the video. My hihat sounds terrible! Can’t wait to do this.
Had to subscribe to you man. Thank you for putting this up, Im a beginner and I wanted to get a kit that i wouldn't need upgrading anymore and save me a few hundred bucks that's why i went for the high-end strike. Info you give is fantastic and is crucial to beginners like me. Thank you!
Awesome video as always... One thing I thought I'd add is that if you decide to switch over or if anyone out there is playing on ATV hats with firmware v1.4 (which I am), then be sure to check out the offset on the HiHat Pedal trigger settings. It was choking my mix and making it near impossible to get a nice "sloshy" mix for an off pedal groove. Default is 55 which in my case was waaaaay too tight and was killing the transition. I ended up needing to drop it entirely to 00 to get the sound I was looking for universally across my HiHat mixes. Thanks again for the tuning tips and videos.
Hey. I JUST got my Strike Pro SE a few weeks ago! Sooooo stoked to have an e kit now. Thanks for this video! I look forward to tweaking those settings TOMORROW. 👌 My question is: When you changed those settings, does it save it "globally" for ALL kits? Or just the single kit you happened to be using? If the single kit is the case, does the Strike Module allow these changes to happen globally? Thank you.
Thanks so much for this video. I've been playing a Roland V10 kit for years and it's fine...but the sounds are a bit outdated. That said, it still works perfectly and I've never had to tweak ANYTHING to get the hi hats to work just like my acoustic drums. I've been interested in the Strike Pro SE for a while, but this whole hi hat thing has me freaked out. Videos like yours definitely help, but I still wonder why my decades-old Roland drums worked fine right out of the box and I have to be an e-drum module expert to get the Alesis hi hats to sound good.
I got it the Pro SE last year, it's still taking me some getting used to from acoustics but for the most part their pretty great. I can actually play at home, even in the evening!

It's really my favorite module ever. I also love not being stuck to what's inside the module even though I do like the stock sounds. Most of the SSD5 sample import sounds I use for recording aren't even in the Mimic.

Doesn't sound like that from most of the demos I've heard (even on the 1.4 update release vid) but if it's off already that's good no need to mess with it. It would be obvious if its muted tho. Very awkward to play
One thing I’ve learned is your custom kits have nearly removed my want and need for Superior Drummer 3. For that I am thankful! The other thing is, Alesis devs suck bad!!!! They do not support newer apple OS which is terribly sad.

I have a couple questions for you. Where can I find update 1.5? Did you ever have a giant loud CLACK just from closing the pedal? How do I get rid of that?
Hey guys, I love the kits you've made accessible, especially the layered kicks & snares. I'm having trouble getting the sound and it's really frustrating. I have an Alesis Strike Pro and was wondering if you or your site can recommend instruments similar to my acoustic kit. I have a Pearl Master Studio Birch with Aquarian heads a couple deep 7x14 snares and Zildian brilliant 20 Ping ride, 16" & 18 Med thin, 17 & 18" thin and 15" old Zildian new beat hats. I'm an old school drummer (play heavy, use wooden beaters and play a lot of classic rock). There are so many crashes etc and none seem to give me the quick brite sounds with fast decay. I've found a few layered kits on UA-cam but performing all the adjustments on the triggers alone can send me down a rabbit hole. Any suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, -RD
Hey. Depending which settings you mean, you save by hitting the save button, per kit or if it's trigger setting changes, you would bring up the triggers menu by pressing the "Triggers" button and can hit the save button from there.
I just purchased the strike pro SE kit and I’ve noticed my hi hat sounds AWFUL!! It’s either wide open or completely closed tight there’s no in between no matter how much you ease the pedal open!! 😩
@@AtTheSourceStudios Thank you!!! would you please give me some advice on how to install these kits? I downloaded the files from google drive and Striker Software wouldn't recognize it. Thank you again for making these available and for all your advice and assistance!!! Really appreciate it.
Thanks SiREN for these videos!! I recently 'installed' a GeoDrum controller. It seems to work much more consistently than the stock one. Though it seems I have to release the pedal more than I'm used to before I get any semi-open sound. I just checked the setting via this video and 'Closed' was 126-127. Any theories? The controller piston seems to close completely. No lower Hat being used.
My hi hat with ssd5 plays the China as well I can’t seem to figure out how to get the sample to stop playing, happens when I hit the edge but only sometimes almost seems to have to do with the splash
what hi hat cymbal did you play in this video? and edited? Also do i not have the ability to use the editor with the SE kit, it won't even download and i can't find a newer version from ALESIS site

They are Pintech cymbals. They are all TC besides the front left crash is a PC dual zone with choke. I did have to DIY a couple screws so they work with the Alesis cymbal stoppers but it was easy and now they move really nice. The feel is the most authentic I've ever played. Nice and thin. I am VERY happy with them. Single zone crashes actually trigger smoother IMO but I'd always have to have at least one with choke function, hence the PC. Can't beat the price either!
SiREN-DRUMS awesome - thanks for the info. I’ve been looking at them for a while but wanted someone’s direct personal experience before ordering. I’ve got a few Gibraltar stands that I plan to use. Hopefully there is an anti-spin device that works well with Pintech out of the box so no mods are necessary.
@@msgnfg there is these cymbal springs they include with the PC line but IMO they are very unnatural and basically turn it into a bobble head lol otherwise it's tighten the felt down super tight. IMO having them tight would be a big deal for the TC line since they bend to your hits so still feel good, just won't look as natural if on video
ok so im just now getting into these settings on this module, and in the first part of the video, u talk about going back n fourth between bow and edge, my mute group are both set to off, and set to 99, but it seems to have trouble between the 2 , doesnt always detect in between one or the other when i strike it, and other setting for this particular problem??
Dude I'm having trouble with my jobeky triggers plus my alesis strike triggering the rim. My rack tom triggers the rim ok but the snare and floor tom don't. I have to hit the shell in order to get the rim sound. Any advice?
It is an awesome module man! The sounds in the video was a custom kit I put together. I was actually thinking of putting it up for people to download if there's a demand. Thanks for watching man!
Ok, I went in and did all that you said. The hets worked a lot better- then I went to another kit and everything went back. SMH. What did I do wrong or do I have to do this for every kit? Or do the changes not stay in the module? Help!
Yes the instruments and kit editing will change for each kit. Preset kits unfortunately can't be changed since they're "Pre-Set" but if you like whatever one you can do the changes and just make a user kit with it. Just as a note, every module is this way so it's not just a Strike thing.
So based on your narrative, you are using the same sample for edge and bow? Is this due to the difference in the sound samples that are stock in the module?
Oh no sorry about the misunderstanding. I actually thought of this after reviewing the video I probably should have clarified. I was only meaning to assign the edge to both zones to test the changes. Once you find the numbers that work the best you would repeat the number modification for the other zone as well and then assign accordingly (bow and edge zone)
installed on my pc and better now but when you changed settings on hihat towards end of vid for open, semi open etc, you didnt show how to save them which is where im stuck now. @@AtTheSourceStudios
@@chezchezchezchez lol nothing was "wrong" with 1.4 I just have my preference. Of course if there is a 1.5 I would try it but hey I'm happy so that's all I care about. I record into a DAW so that feature to record onto the SD card from 1.4 I wouldn't really have a use for anyway. Also 1.3 has more attack and is kind of more punchy which I also like. ok so im just now getting into these settings on this module, and in the first part of the video, u talk about going back n fourth between bow and edge, my mute group are both set to off, and set to 99, but it seems to have trouble between the 2 , doesnt always detect in between one or the other when i strike it, and other setting for this particular problem??
Dude I'm having trouble with my jobeky triggers plus my alesis strike triggering the rim. My rack tom triggers the rim ok but the snare and floor tom don't. I have to hit the shell in order to get the rim sound. Any advice?
Thank you for this!
Man I really like The alesis Strike pro which settings and kits are you using in this video
It is an awesome module man! The sounds in the video was a custom kit I put together. I was actually thinking of putting it up for people to download if there's a demand. Thanks for watching man!
SiREN-DRUMS that would be awesome please do this , and many thanks for taking the time for this vid it has helped loads
Any suggestions on what headphones to buy? Im waiting for my pair of DT770 Pro 80ohm, but I’d like to hear other opinions
Stille on the strike pro se?Did you get a good one, I have the kit as of recently and I'm searching for the right headphones..
@@parapaa7323 Ultrasone HFI-580.
Did you do anything for the pads cause they sound great
What do you mean did I do anything? Like setup? All the sounds are from the Strike module
@@AtTheSourceStudios no that kit sounds really good to me
Ok, I went in and did all that you said.
How did you get the editor display that big on screen, mine is tiny and pretty useless. Others experience this too..
Can't say. I don't think there's a way to change it so probably just how it showed up for me.
installed on my pc and better now but when you changed settings on hihat towards end of vid for open, semi open etc, you didnt show how to save them which is where im stuck now. @@AtTheSourceStudios
What are your splash cymbals?
Pintech TC 10"
Would the strike be compatible with dm10 pads?
Yes
Hey guys just an FYI:
I am using update v1.3 but it should be similar menus to 1.4.
Sorry if anyone is confused (forgot to mention)
Hi Josh, why don't you use 1.4?
@@grahampotter742 I like the hihat reset function and feel the VH10/11 controller works a little better with 1.3
SiREN-DRUMS sad. Wishing u luck with 1.5
@@chezchezchezchez lol nothing was "wrong" with 1.4 I just have my preference. Of course if there is a 1.5 I would try it but hey I'm happy so that's all I care about. I record into a DAW so that feature to record onto the SD card from 1.4 I wouldn't really have a use for anyway. Also 1.3 has more attack and is kind of more punchy which I also like. There are other reasons but I think both are good.
where is it possible to download the Editor for Strike Pro SE with 1.5 firmware for Mac?
I would check the Alesis site for that. Under the original Strike tab but I'm not 100% on that.
@@AtTheSourceStudios Thank yu but hey only have the Editor v 1.1.2 and it should be updated for MAC :-( My main problem is that when I hit my HH open, most of the time it sounds closed. I like your solution with the Editor, but it will not work for me. Do you have other ideas of solutions with a setup from the module?
what head are u using on your bass drum, i notice you're using the felt side, thought this tore into the mesh?
Hey. I use a Remo Silent stroke currently. I use Remo patch so it's safe to use felt. Just can't directly on the mesh.
Right on thanks much, other question? Have you tried the new se strike pro and would you say the hi hat and bass drum has improved the kit overall ?
I'm using the the SE editions and have the same issues
@@simpleplandrummer oh man not good to hear just got it, but at-least
i'll do the fix's you suggested
I literally just got it the other day so I'm still fine tuning it.
Have you tried this with the stock controller?
Unfortunately not. I only had the stock controller for a month or two before switching. Everything should still apply regardless of controller tho.
Wow just did the adjustments now and it made a huge difference
@@chetweeds6882 Glad it helped! :)
