    I can say that this is by far the best video I have seen performing this procedure, from start to finish, very well done, thank you very much, it will be very useful to me. Best regards from the Dominican Republic.

    Ma’am!!! This is EXACTLY what I needed!! I’m installing my wife’s dashcam and saw the Dongar power adapter through Donut and didn’t know if I could find one that would work with her 2024 Crosstrek. You just saved me SO MUCH TIME! Thank you!

    Excellent video - there are several on youtube that attempt to show a dashcam install on a 2024 Crosstrek or Impreza (same frame, same basic electronics), and yours is by far the best videography (can see all the connectors and where to fish the line through to provide power). Thank you for posting this, it's a tremendous help before we start pulling trim plates and unplugging connectors. Well done!

    Just an FYI 5 pin is incorrect for 24’ with auto dimming mirror. I just installed on my 24’ limited. Bought 5 pin first. No connectors that fit it. Had to re order 10P type B. This worked. I had to go back and forth with power adapter company and they eventually said nothing fit my crosstrek. However found post on Reddit and can confirm 10P type B fire and powers correctly.

    Will the same adapter be needed for a 2024 Forester that doesn’t have an auto-dimming mirror? If it’s different, please advise the correct type of adapter for the above-mentioned Forester and the link. Thanks in advance.😊

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Місяць тому

      Hey there! ...and great question. Your Forester should have an available 5-pin connector similar to what's seen here. Since your vehicle isn't equipped with an auto-dimming mirror from factory, there will be a "hidden" connector in the upper console.
      I would definitely take a peek in there first just to be 110% sure :) Once you find that, you can purchase it here (amzn.to/3x8eR50)

    Great video, it assisted me well in installing my front cam. For a rear cam, would there have to be a wire going all the way from the back to the front for power, or is there a hidden power source in the back that you know of?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  14 днів тому

      Hey Jeff! Don't have a quick and easy solution for the rear power. However, do keep in mind that if you purchase a 2-channel dashcam, the rear camera has to plug into the primary unit (up front) to operate normally and be in sync.

    If the Crosstrek DOES have the auto dimming mirror what are the connection instructions? is a different adapter required? Thanks!!

    • @amyjanemade
      @amyjanemade 4 місяці тому

      I believe that just means the adapter port will be connected to the mirror rather than being tucked away empty. Not sure if it's still under the plastic shroud, but wherever you're able to disconnect the auto-dimming mirror from that port, you'd just unplug that and connect the male end of the adapter in it's place, then reconnect your mirror to the female end of the adapter.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  4 місяці тому +3

      Instructions on accessing the port will be the same 👍🏽 The port that you see at 1:16 will be connected to a wiring harness instead of being tucked away. It's that wiring harness which powers the auto-dimming mirror. You'll simply disconnect the cable and replace it with this dashcam power adapter. Hope that helps!

      @@Auto-Minute Is a 1 to 2 connector required to let the auto-dimming feature and dashcam work?

    The EyeSight still work with dashcam mount on the windshield?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому +1

      Yup, the dash cam sits a bit lower and in the middle of the EyeSight cameras. There shouldn't be an issue with obstruction 🙏🏾 Btw, I believe your Subaru will also display a message if EyeSight is blocked or disabled for any reason.

    thanks so much for this video, I do have one question, In this video you show a two piece setup with 5 pins yet the link you give for the Dongar adaptor is a one piece. And looking through their listings their two piece adaptor looks like a 3 pin setup... So I'm a bit confused... but that's normal, my wife says that about me all the time🤣

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey! You are definitely not confused lol that's a great question! Funny enough, they used to have the single piece version, but have since evolved into a 2-piece as seen in the video. I just double-checked and it's definitely the right link, but appears they haven't refreshed the product image to reflect the 2-piece upgrade.

    Does this power allow for parked recording while the car is powered off

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому

      Hey brother, the current setup will turn your dashcam [ON] and [OFF] with your vehicle. If you wish to use 24h parking mode, you will need to hardwire it to the fusebox (tapping into vehicle battery power).

  • @joeneetan8928
    @joeneetan8928 3 місяці тому

    Hi. Is this an alternative for hardwiring?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 місяці тому +2

      Yup! Instead of running a long cable thru the entire cabin of your car, you can do this instead :)

    • @anthonypagano6565
      @anthonypagano6565 3 місяці тому +1

      The "hard-wire" kits sold by dashcam manufacturers are generally engineered to accomplish three tasks: (1) power the dashcam while the car is running; (2) sense when the car is turned off and power the dashcam in parking mode; (3) when the car is turned off sense when the car battery voltage drops below a specific level and turn off the power to the dashcam in parking mode to avoid running down the battery. As near as I can tell the Dongar product described in the video does NOT perform (2) or (3). If you don't care about using parking mode with your dashcam then the Dongar adapter described in the video may be a good alternative and looks nearly fool proof. Using the Dongar adapter eliminates running cabling along the car molding only if you don't install a rear camera.
      The dashcam manufacturers' hard wire kits typically come with everything you need to tie into your car's inside fuse box with no splicing or soldering required. However they rarely provide sufficient information to help the average novice know which fuse locations to use, how to correctly use the fuse taps and how to find a proper ground point. While there are a handful of youtube videos that provide good instruction for the experienced Do-it-Yourselfer the rest should consider hiring a professional to do this job.
