Hey there! ...and great question. Your Forester should have an available 5-pin connector similar to what's seen here. Since your vehicle isn't equipped with an auto-dimming mirror from factory, there will be a "hidden" connector in the upper console. I would definitely take a peek in there first just to be 110% sure :) Once you find that, you can purchase it here (amzn.to/3x8eR50)

Hey brother, it does, but it's located within the center storage console (arm/elbow rest area). It's annoying having cables running out of that storage area. This solution is to keep all the cables up top and to keep the storage unit available for storage....or to light up those cigarettes lol

Hey brother, shouldn't be a problem. I haven't personally seen that bolt on a CX5, but I have seen the hex bolts used on different vehicles. This stuff should be standard, but nothing wrong with the bolt as long as it's the right specification. Just remember to NOT over tighten the bolt when plugging it back.

Hey brother, the connector for this one taps into the power going to the auto-dimming mirror. It does not interfere with the EyeSight system. In the case of this video, the plug is vacant since the car wasn't equipped with an auto-dimming mirror out of factory (Subaru leaves this available in case you opt for the upgraded accessory). It is the same case for most Subaru vehicle's without an auto-dimming mirror from factory.

Yessir, you do need a powered mirror for this to function (auto-dimming or homelink enabled). I'm a little surprised that your CX-30 did not come with it because the one used in this video is a "Preferred" trim level as well. Curious if you have a similar shroud above the mirror.

@@Auto-Minute i do have the shroud, I guess i could pop it off and look behind it. My preferred also does not have a sunroof despite that trim having them normally. i purchased in the beginning of 2023 when new car stock was still semi-scarce and in order to get cars on lots they were changing specs of some and offering discounts. I got money off because it didn't have a sunroof. Maybe no one bothered to tell me it was supposed to have a powered mirror too. i have the standard mirror with the little manual flip lever
