- Today we are exploring an abandoned High School in Illinois that closed down in 2010. The gym was boarded off and still in use until 2021. That is when the newer high school built to replace this one shut down. We found gym clothing, dace clothing, trophies, and accidentally ran into homeless camp.

Wow, great video. I graduated there in 1996, the basement was just as dingy then as it is now. The one room that was a weight room in the basement used to be the band room. The Gymnasium used to be the crown jewel. Many good memories in that building, thanks!

Graduated here in '05. This kinda makes me sad. Be careful in there. One of the buildings that houses the Brothers was closed due to asbestos. Stay safe in your adventures and thank you for bringing me some nostalgia!
I graduated from that Catholic High School in 1987. I started my freshmen year in 1983. God bless all who passed through that school. God bless all who taught in there too. God bless all who administrated in there, and lead such a great school.

St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois
I grew up close to there and had friends who went to school there in the late 90s. I knew it closed, but had no idea that it was left totally unsecured to be vandalized and stripped. You expect that in the city, not so much in the suburbs. What a shame.

I went to the school next door when it was all-girl (74-78), but came to this school across the field for band class. It was held in the basement.
I attended IHM 1974-2978.

What a shame to have schools all closed down. But look at the abandon houses in Illinois. There are whole subdivisions closed down. Empty house all over Illinois. What the heck? Someone said it cost too much to live in Illinois.
it really doesn't cost that much at all. This kind of stuff is all over America at this point.
More like people want less corruption in their government, that's why they leave.
Such a waste of material and equipment that should have been repurposed to another school; could have also been donated for after school education programs. It makes no sense. That building would have been a good building for homeless programs or social services programs.
@_BELMONT_ it's called property taxes. One of the most unconstitutional things out there and yet they still charge more and more
@@_BELMONT_ you're out your dang mind. My property tax assessment went up $115k from last yr. Also, I went to that hs on the 90s. It was garbage then. Edit: overpriced garbage.
So many good memories there. I went there for band while i went to IHM closer to 22nd st.
So sad…my husband couldn’t even watch it - waaaay too depressing. He went to school there all 4 years in the late 80’s. By the way, they are organs, not pianos. Also, the cards in the little drawers that you called “records” are actually a card catalog - it’s what we used to locate books in the library. Also, we would watch videos on the t.v.’s that were on stands. That’s the way school was back then.

i went to this place like a couple months ago and i went into the building ur in now which is abandonded but it seems like the other school right next to this near the street is also closing down but it seems fairly new closed down since we noticed cars parked near it and moving around from time to time

He made a video on it. Basically u just go to google maps and look around for overgrown or broken down places then go to street view to check what it looks like. And there u go hope that helps😁

there’s this gym I go to all the time for family reunions and the last time I went i remember seeing a spider under an open bench… but it’s actually pretty clean and not that dirty. it was an old high school gym I believe since there’s pictures of high school students. the basketball hoops are still up, but there is a closed up section of it which is most likely the supply area, guessing that’s extreme moldy. we are aloud to use the property (as it probably is obvious already lol) but I don’t know about anyone else. there’s also a playground for nearby homes but there’s a creepy cemetery 😭😭 im most likely going back this month (November 2023) and in December (2023).

You guys should check out Lincoln high school in East St Louis. I can’t find any videos of it being explored even though it’s been abandoned since 1998.

I went to the girls school in 1994. It sucked; they had the skinniest lockers. I did go to my first freshman dance and a junior prom in that gym, though.

I was looking into the school and the reason it closed was admission was too low. They have a wiki on this highschool. Enrollment Coed Peak: 887 (2008) Lowest: 185[3] (2020-2021) , 185 students at whatever the tuition was at the time was not enough to keep it open.

Stelagtites in a building? Those are usually found in caves, not buildings. That place is probably very moldy if those are found forming.
They can form in a couple years if the water is hard enough, I see them under bridges all the time

It is still theft if you were to get caught, those items still belong to the owners of the school/building.
