  • In part 2 we are exploring the Massive 500,000 ft Abandoned Pillsbury Factory in Springfield, IL. This factory once had 1,500 workers in 1950. Cargill purchased and used the factory from 1991 to 2001. After sitting empty for 7 years, the Cargill decided to scrap the building in 2008. Half of the buildings have already been demolished. Follow us as we find out what's been sitting inside since 2001.

This site is owned by a group called Moving Pillsbury Forward, as it is marked as a superfund site by the EPA. During the time this video released, they were actively removing parts of this plant that contained asbestos. I really hope you guys had some sort of breathing equipment, as there was definitely asbestos in the air. The security was there to prevent you from getting hurt while they were removing the material.

My dad worked here in the early 50s' making a daily round trip from Virden, Ill. He worked part time at the Post Office which eventually turned full time and brought us to the West Coast where I grew up.

It fascinates me just how quickly our human built world crumbles and decays when we leave it. I mean, 50 years and it looks like this, what will exist of us in 1000 years or more if we just stopped being here

All that equipment looks really old even for 2001, i’m guessing it was cheaper to open a new plant and bring it up to modern food standards than upgrade the whole plant.
My dad worked in a sugar factory and had a lot of the same things, maintenance office, labratory, admin office, computer department, etc

Well, that'd be better than being found by the Pillsbury Dough Boy... Last explorer in the factory was discovered dead and disfigured in the corner near one of the old ovens. It was.. a horrific scene, to say the least. The autopsy revealed that the poor sob was force-fed over 20 lbs of raw dough. Security spotted from behind a huge hulking grotesque figure appearing to bend the body into the shape of a croissant, trying to cram it into one of the ovens before fleeing the scene disappearing behind a nearby wall. Security now bangs on doors and walls to make loud sounds in the hopes of scaring the Pillsbury Doughboy away at least until the foundation can contain this Euclid class anomaly
