Exploring an Abandoned Diner in Illinois - 50's Themed
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In todays video, we explored a 50's themed abandoned diner in Illinois that closed in 2012. The place was full of old car posters on the walls. This is one of the cleanest abandoned places I've explored and had minimal vandalism.

This wonderful place was a 'Classic Diner' - literally! It was built when the 50's came back in style as a fad (but it wasn't built in the 50's). I went there several times. I miss it!! They had things to sell in the front glass case, not just pies or cakes. And the hooks by the booths were to hang your coats or hats on. Some of the younger generation doesn't know this stuff. The little metal teapots were for hot water for hot tea, or they were also used for like milk or liquid coffee creamer. And the little saucers were used to serve your coffee cups or tea cups on. Too bad vandals have gotten in and tore stuff up. I kept hoping that someone would reopen the place but no one has.😭
I don’t know why abandoned buildings bring me serenity. when I can’t sleep at night these are my
Go to.
The hooks on each booth were probably there to hang hats and coats
Ohhhhhh that makes sense
That place is amazing! Wish I could have eaten there 😭 love retro/old diners
Same here i have one right up the street from me think ill take a visit
Same 😭tho I still have diners like this close to me
There is this place in West Virginia called dolly’s diner, it’s retro themed. I would recommend it, if it’s close by
Definitely hat and coat stands on each booth! Surely a must in the Midwest winters?
This place is surprisingly not that faded- were the blinds closed? Red usually fades fast.
yes the blinds were closed
Amazing find! Wow!
I love everything about this retro diner!!
The light fixtures and ceiling, very cool!!
We’ve had a few of these shipped to England….Mimi’s in Bude etc…i think theyre great..this one needs a deep clean and some staff…was this place badly managed ? The back story would be nice…fun and games leading up to the last day of trading…
…everything is pretty grubby..
This is in my town, I’ve been wondering what it looked like now. So sad. Thanks for this!
Too bad someone could not reopen it, not that bad of shape!
That’s so awesome! What town is this by chance
I went to this 'Classic Diner' several times. I miss it!!
Do you guys remember why it was abandoned??
@@thebadgerette69 I wish I could repair that old place..
Wow, it's actually in really decent condition!! And so cool, love 50s stuff
Ate there many times!! The hooks at the end of the booths are for hanging your coat/hat. The guy that ran it has his own place west edge of town now. Its a shame it was left to run down!
And doesn't the wife (or ex-wife?) now run a cafe also on this same road, just a few miles north of this old diner?
I live near Illinois. This is crazy. 😳😳
It’s really cool to see the CRT monitor with the burned in screen of the restaurant
this is unbelievable abandoned from 2011 🥶 and everything seems so cleaned almost..
Someone has to come in and dust periodically. Looks too clean to be setting all that time.
What a shame, it's a beautiful restaurant.
This is in my hometown!!!
I noticed the jukebox is gone, wonder what happen to it?
Pretty sure you’re thinking of a different abandoned diner that looks just like this one
@@decayingmidwest Wow another one that looks the same crazy!
@decayingmidwest There was an envelope you showed that was labelled 'juke box', so it looks like this place had one at some stage.
1:52 that's a teapot for hot water 😭💀
It also was used for like milk or coffee creamer sometimes.
Only thing missing is the coin operated table top juke box music selectors.
Those little silver teapot-looking containers were for creamer, not syrup.
Ohhhhh cool!
Looks pristine
Pretty clean indeed
Cool spot. How long do you think it’s been abandoned?
Since 2012
This reminds me of the diner in the show "From."
Looks like the Penny's Diner in Vaughan New Mexico
I swear that looks like a small town i used to live in,Sandwich ,they had a resturaunt just like this
I think I know this place. I'm glad it hasn't been ruined.
I'd buy it if I could! I used to work in a place like this
It's for tea!
Coat and hat hangers
You are correct. Some of the younger generation isn't aware of something like this.
Looks like a good burger😮
That looks like the diner from Riverdale 😮 so cool!
17:32 that CRT monitor is probably worth something to a retro video game collector.
I saw this dinner before, while on a paintball trip. I want to see it for myself but I'm afraid I will get in trouble by my parents. sadly the buildings outside is covered by weeds
pictures in frames worth alot of money of ebay/etsy/poshmark/facebook marketplace etc... like a couple thousand dollars or more
Pan guard is for cleaning
Matt, I have a couple of questions. Are you about 6’2” ? Also, would you weigh about 215 lbs?
You look amazingly like a fellow I used to know many, many years ago. The resemblance is uncanny.
Gyönyörű! nagy kár érte! jó lenne ha működhetne! VHS megőrizte a történelem szeletét! értékesek!
too bad it is abandoned, there is one like that in LISBON, OH about 45 min from house that i went to when it was open
What was the name of it?
Looks like the juke box was taken
I’m not sure if there ever was one at this location
Is there any info about how long this diner was operated?
Just saw that receipt and it said December 2011
Yep! That’s around the time it closed
I'll have a milk.... Chocolate.
Hahahaha
Ive been here when I was 7
It looks so familiar. What’s the name of the restaurant? I swear I went there as a child with my mom
@@bossbee8803 rocket Diner & three Star Family Restaurant I think
@@bossbee8803 I believe this was called 'Classic Diner'. I went there several times. I miss it!!
Did somebody really take a dump in the guys room?
