I DO NOT OWN RIGHTS TO THIS SONG!
honestly, if your not an elitist and you wanna learn some easy stuff on 7 start listening to emmure 90% of their music is like three notes but it still sounds cool so you don't look dumb playing smoke on the water in drop A
Very true!
I am not ashamed to say I enjoy open chugs and simple rhythms on guitar. But hey, I’ve been told that makes me a loser, so I guess it must be true XD!
dude, they've been one of my favourite bands for years and I'm not slightly ashamed
They were one of the highlights of Warped last year. Their new album is amazing, and I was right up at the front of the stage jamming.
Honestly I love the instrumental from Emmure but the vocal and lyrics are not my favorite. Still a great band and I don’t get the elitism against bands like that. Not everything has to be so fucking technical to sound good haha
Now do "Hardest Songs to Learn on a 7-String"
Ooo maybe my friend!
rings of saturn
Dream theater
Nevermore songs
Periphery, berried alive, iwrestledabearonce older stuffs? Lul!
Finally just joined the 7 string club. Never knew you made this video until I searched "learning 7 string". Scrolled through and "Hey! It's Nik Noc!!!!!" This list is definitely gonna help me get more comfortable with the multiscale 7 string fret board. Thanks, past Nik!🤘
'And the rest of their new album' hahahaha so true
Lots of people say you can't dislike the new AA album just because its not Metalcore anymore, I say I don't enjoy it cause the guitar work is even worse than usual. At least Danny is solid on it.
VahleTV You do mean to say that the previous albums were hated because they were mislabelled as metalcore, right?
And yeah i agree, I'm fine with Danny doing cleans only, sometimes a non metal approach like this also works
red_raith Most of their recent stuff is simply on the hard rock side. They had a lot of pop, electronic and punk influences in their music earlier and I dont think one can define a 'metal' genre for them, simply because they arent metal.
Metalcore, to be precise would be Metallic Hardcore or bands like Converge, Integrity, The Dillinger Escape Plan etc
I dont hate the band, infact I love Danny's vocals both cleans and uncleans. Its just that the mislabelling of their genre has caused a lot of hate in the community
I even enjoyed The Black much more than the new album for god's sake xD
Bora Ceylan Haha true, From death to destiny was petty good for me
This list is of course very subjective, these are the songs that if asked I would suggest to any player just starting out on a 7 string. There are many other songs I wanted to included but I wanted to keep the limit to one song per band. I love all these bands and these songs and by no means is the purpose of this video to hate on "easy" songs. Sometimes less is more and I respect that.
Great video as always Nik ! I have a quick question for you, would you recommend to start off with a 6 or 7 string ? I'm thinking about getting a new guitar soon but that's what I haven't been able to decide yet.
I would still recommend starting with a 6 string because it's easier to apply basics to it, however, it's still possible to start on a 7 string, it'll just be harder.
Nik Nocturnal Alright thank you!
Blind by Korn isn't in Drop A its in A standard so its A,D,G,C,F,A,D
what about citizen erazed?
First band i found through getting a 7-string was In Hearts Wake. Then came bands like Volumes, TessracT, Our Last Night. Twelve Foot Ninja.
good shit dude
My first song was a periphery song I think, the bad thing.
Nik Nocturnal funnily enough Periphery got me into Djent and made me play guitar. Heard Jetpacks Was Yes and blew my mind never thought i could play the solo. 3 years later i can play it like it's nothing.
These videos are awesome inspiration looking for new stuff as I get into 7 string and exploring other tunings. Thanks for these!
Some of my favorite easy 7-string riffs:
>Nevermore - Inside Four Walls [Bb Standard]
>Carnifex - The Scope of Obsession [Drop A]
>Unearth - Endless [B Standard]
>God Forbid - Gaia (The Vultures) [Drop A]
>Trivium - Shogun [B Standard]
>Evanescence - Part of Me [B Standard]
>Babymetal - Karate [B Standard]
>Conquering Dystopia - Destroyer of Dreams [Drop Bb]
>Shokran - The Swarm [Drop G#]
>Suicide Silence - Hands of a Killer [Drop A]
>Through The Eyes of the Dead - Two Inches From A Main Artery [B Standard]
>Whitechapel - Let Me Burn [Drop G]
>All Shall Perish - Gagged, Bound, Shelved, and Forgotten [B Standard]
>Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father [B Standard]
>Adema - Co-Dependent [B Standard]
>Korn - Faget [A Standard]
Honor Thy Father is in C Standard.
i see you sneaking that Babymetal in there ;)
There is also a riff from the Band Dream Theater from the song The Glass Prison where it has the thrashy part
thanks dude! got a 7 string coming in, super keen to start easy, not even an expert with 6 to begin with but love some of that music, especially inspired by Korn
Killing it like always dude. The first song I learned on 7 string was My Damnation by Chelsea Grin. That was actually the first song I learned period.
Thanks dude! :D
no problem :)
Thanks a lot for this dude! Helped me out a lot just now
Thanks for the great vid Nik. A play-through of Hysteria and/or Nefarious would be pretty dope!
Thanks dude! It's on the to-do list but i'm in no rush to get that done, I have a lot of other fun things planned first :)
Congrats on 20,000
Thank you! :D
Excellent video! Cheers all the way from Peru!
ok know this is old but I gotta say I've been learning Flatline for approximately 2 hours now (got a 7 on chrimuhhh) and I gotta say its one of the most fun entertaining and USEFUL songs I've ever learned bro. Uses up the majority of the fretboard and I'm LOOOVING this Ab tuning omg
Great vid as usual Nik!
Thank you! :)
Im here the day after the 1 mil sub video 😊 youve worked hard and come a long way dude and stuff like this is still useful (I say this as i head to pick up my first 7)
awesome vid! Picking up my Jackson 7 string after work. I'll be learning these songs this weekend. thanks!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
I needed this
Just bought a Jackson 7 string and am excited to learn a few of these songs :)
Me too.
@@mizmor149 me three
Me 4 🤣🔥✌️
same, the mighty 22-7 jackson 🙌
Nic if your reading this, 4 years have passed. I’m still watching.
Congrats on 20k my dude!
Thanks Trey! :D
Very nicely done, I would also add the Heart from your hate from Trivium's new album, is a pretty easy one and its loads of fun
Great vids!
Thank you! :D
They could also listen to the entirety of Laugh Tracks by Knocked Loose (which ironically is my profile pic lmao) such easy riffs and breakdowns, so damn heavy.
Thanks man
Got my first 7 string yesterday. Naturally you popped up first
I wish this came out a year ago when I bought my first seven string. The first 3 weeks consisted of weedly-weedly doo on the 6 strings and then BOOOOOOOOOOOMPH on the seventh.
But for real though this was solid and I hope it helps many fresh seven string players. Another suggestion for me are the 7-string trivium songs! The new album (Sin and the Sentence) and Shogun have some great 7 string riffs that are fun as hell. Down from the Sky was the first seven string song I actually learned.
Yes I know exactly what you mean! I thought the Trivium songs we're a bit too challenging so I kept them out for this video :)
Was half expecting to see down from the sky by trivium in this video, either way, great video and great playing
Wicked video man! Would be good to see some more content like this! Maybe a video on Drop A 7 string songs to learn for intermediates to get your technique up? Or maybe just some general lessons on scales you use for solo stuff? :)
Thank you! I got more content like this coming soon, don't worry :)
Just got a Js22-7 this helps alot
Leech by Angelmaker is super easy to learn as well. I learned most of the riffs of that song in like a few hours, and this is coming from a guy who can somewhat play like 2 songs
I'll check it out :)
1:00 TEEE HEEE!
Gabriel different song
Emmure - A Gift a Curse is a cool one to learn, they have a sweet behind the nut pre-bend/release breakdown thing too which sounds cool.
Easiest of these is 100% Emmure - E
I'd say that or the asking alexandria song!
Your guitar is very beautiful
Korn is in A standard tho
Cool video dude. 🤘🤘
Thanks Ben! :D
Where's fracture by veil of maya?😂
In Hell, waiting to torment the next soul that attempts to cover it.
Nice ATX7, got the same one, but then a lefty ;-)
*me taking note of all the musics bc I love metal and hard rock*
Didn't know you made this and I'm glad you did. You sent me from your livestream xD
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! :)
AND THE REST OF THEIR NEW ALBUM 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's sad, but true.
Great album but simple riffing. Bruce can do better and people know it.
My Ex Demise oh yeah, but danny boy, wanted to make more of a rock/rock-pop record right? Which, unfortunately gives us, what we got.. with special guest, some dude rapping
Nik: "I didn't really know where to start when I got my 7"
Me, having been listening to djent for years and watching Nik shred: "I wish I could play literally any song on my spotify but don't have a 7 string"
nice playing dude thanks! what Gauges did u put on your Schecy for Drop A? Cheers 😎🤘
E by Emmure !!!!!!
Freak on a Leash by Korn is also kinda easy. It's in A standard. The hardest part is when Jonathan Davis starts doing the "da boom" part where you have to jump from low to high E
I think 'blind' is in A standard? Could be wrong lol, this was a great video dude :)
Henry H.H
Yea blind is definitely A standard. But drop A is easier for sure and you don't have to down tune your other strings too.
Thank you and yes you're right, I goofed!
In drop A you lose lots of dissonant chords and harmonics
dude you awesome!!!1!! thank u very much :3
Thank YOU! :)
Sounds amazing. Any chance you would share your presets from the Axe-Fx? I have a ATX 7 on the way and really like your sound.
You should be endorsed by schecter, everytime I watch one of your video I instantly want one
Be sure to tell Schecter that :)
crewcabanger by chelsea grin is pretty easy to if you dont play the sweeping part or solo parts
Can you do a "Easy Songs to Learn in F# and Low E Tuning" video?
I was in a music store yesterday and I saw a 7 string now I want a seven string but it would be my first electric I've played acoustic until now I think I'm ready
Thanks for sharing. Really good songs you choosed. Matches really nice my favourite songs :-)
AMARANTHE YES
:D
Korn “Y’all Want A Single” or “Falling Away From Me” are both pretty easy.
There are a few fear factory songs that are easy to learn as well. Bite the hand that bleeds, dog day sunrise.
The rhythm section of As I Am (Dream Theater) is quite easy as well
In Hearts Wake - Divine easy to learn. It's in Drop A.
Just found this video and can't believe Amaranthe is here, haha. Didn't expect that, even though most of their songs are pretty easy (except for some of their solos).
I like A LOT of different styles of music that I don't normally cover on my channel :)
I wish more videos about seven strings mentioned Morbid Angel. I feel they were one of the original 7 string players. No offence to Nik this video was great.
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity (B standard)
hue
What pedals are you guys using?
Thanks for the video! How do you get such a clear tone? It sounds incredible. I'm interested in purchasing some gear (using a line 6 spider amp atm) to improve my sound, but I'm not sure what to go after.
Thank you! Axe Fx 2 is the trick :)
Every time I see you. I can’t help but think you are the John Mayer of metal. I don’t know why but you look like him.
I'll take that as a compliment my friend, thank you!
Bleed by Meshuggah is also fairly simple.
Big thumbs up for Lacuna Coil and September Mourning^
Thank you!
What's the intro song for your videos?
Blind is in Standard A
Hardest: Tremor by Currents.
Also my favorite song / cover by you :)
Thank you my friend! I have another Currents cover coming soon hopefully :)
Can you do a list of clean songs
Into The Fire and Where Did It Go? are in Drop A flat/G sharp
Correct, I didn't mean that all the songs off their album are in drop A, I ment all the songs off their album are easy :)
HI which gauge use for Drop A on 7 strings ?
Tactical Nuke The Acacia Strain lmao
How about easy songs in Drop G for a beginner metal player? I'm getting quite discouraged
Do a 8 string one next please :)
I don't own an 8 string =(
@@NikNocturnal now you do!
Nik when he had some life in him
What distortion to use?
Dir en Grey - Obscure
¿?
let me correct you :) korn - blind is standard A not drop ^^ but eighter way i get the way you tried to play
How you get that THICC korn tone?
Tabs for eye of the storm?
Could you do a cover of Thrown Into The Fire by Trivium? I love the song and I'm trying to cover it as and I want to see how your cover would compare to my playing. If you do, it's in A# Standard on 7 string, not drop A#
I'll see if I can get to it my friend! :)
#thankuNik
Thank YOU for watching :)
That riff on Rats is pretty dam catchy though.
I agree!
How about Blood Eagle by Periphery? /s
Lichpin-fear factory
Almost first :3 love your vids nick keep up the good work !
Thank you! :D
I like guitar
Korn / Blind / is in A standard.
How does one get the tones tho..
What effects do you use for your guitar? I really am trying to record DIY, but I have no idea where to begin with effects and stuff. Any tips?
Nothing special, just a gain pedal, amp and a cab. It's all in my AXE FX 2
Nik Nocturnal Huh. Do you have a link to it? Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever used the software, but if you have, do you have any tips for recording in StudioOne? Or any tips for getting decent quality in self-recording Guitar and vocals in general?
I hope to get a seven string soon but its kinda hard when you dont have much money and are left handed
as a guy who likes to play august burns red and protest the hero and wants to write stuff like that, should i bother with a 7 or go with a multiscale 6? id only get a 7 to try stuff like periphery etc so i dunno if it'll be worth it in the long run
A 6 string should do just fine for you when it comes to bands like that :)
thanks man!
Doesn't korn play standard?
Doesn't Korn use A standard?
why is it in drop tuning if its a 7 string? might as well just go back to a 6 string then
You could play any of these on a 6 string though ..
It would be cool to see songs that incorporate all 7 strings
That's true but they're still beginner 7 string songs, which was the purpose of the video.
Before I Forget is pretty easy too
Grow that hair out dude!!
Rock on!
