  • Ferrari are developing a major upgrade package for the Imola GP, featuring new floor, Red Bull-style sidepods and changes to the wings and halo flaps. Charles Leclerc's engineer Xavi Marcos is leaving his side as race engineer in a surprising change. Max Verstappen's Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes will see further upgrades in Imola additionally.

Floor efficiency improving meaning you can have more downforce on your rear wing helps a lot with overtaking using the drs. That's been such a strength for redbull this rules cycle.

    • @craigst6755
      @craigst6755 13 днів тому

Or like McLaren did last weekend, you can run less rear wing whilst maintaining the same load to make yourself faster on the straights.
Personally if I was red bull I'd always run a bit more load as they can get away with it and still be amongst the faster cars on the straights.
They would still be good in quali with drs not hindering them and then in the race if they were behind anyone they'd blast past anyway with their super drs. More drag would be shed proportionally as you alluded to.

I winder if ferrari are going to centreline cooling. If not hiw will they cool the car if they get red bull-esque side pods?
They have already had a vertical opening working as an S-duct, possibly to cool electical components, or a radiator. The floor will be the biggy though, and lets see how fast it will make them in a straight line.
They can also do the opposite of what Arran said, lower the wing level and maintain the same load like McLaren did in Miami. Their straught line soeed was much better than usual thanks to that.
I'm wondering if Mercedes could implement similar or not, as they already have P- shaped inlets, so changeing to a T formation may be possible. Its merc though, they probably won't copy red bull, which may be they should. Also reshuffling radiators may not be possible.

They need to improve drainage where water flows onto the track after heavy rain and have a truck with a jet engine or serious blower on the back to blow the standing water off so we can get back to racing quicker after a cloud burst. The long rain holdups are often because of standing water in just a few areas not the whole track and long after it stops raining where it's only light rain the cars could handle. We don't want drivers dying so we just cant have racing during heavy rain like the old days.

We already knew it was the Red Bull side pods a possible upgrade... I think that like 1 month ago I heard that they were working on that concept too!
1:15 agree they looks bad but looks like they works! Sooo that's good for me :)
10:38 Ferrari upgrades: a top mounted machine gun 😂
13:27 you are getting confused... There was already it and it's part of the "famous" S-duct and they are probably simply making it bigger 🤔🤷
But yeah they are completely changing the car because the SF-24 was a base just to understand if it was better and more stable than last year car, so after seeing that it's what their were hoping they are now bringing the big upgrades!
    Really hope they'll work 🤞

This is giving me some 2012 vibes. Year 1 Red Bull has some battles but ultimately wins. Year 2 Red Bull dominates. Year 3 Red Bull has a close challenge but wins in the end. Year 4 Red Bull dominated, we'll see what happens next year, will the pattern repeat?

They need to blow the water to the side of the wheel.Like outwash them, maybe those covers spin inside the tires and have a blown wheel nut 🤔

the rain guards makes no sense to me. The water has to go somewhere and if too much water is backed up what does that lead to? Hydroplaning.

A tenth of a second upgrade is not minor! And McLaren so far past two years is only team that brings upgrades and actually gain a massive .4+ seconds a lap faster

  • @griptopia

Elephant in the room, checo wasn't let go because then the other teams would have found out sooner why redbull is faster, A.N knows he's done enough so wants to go, he also knows that his advantage/ things he knows won't keep their advantage next year, Dropping out now and going on gardening leave and then working the whole time on some other teams car would be a more attractive option right now as he can command a lot more money, stay where he is and when the car isn't dominant anymore, he didn't get a break and a butt tonne more money in the same time frame. And the thinking space he needs to come up with the best concept.

The spray comes from tire squirt... these guards to absolutely nothing to stop that. Not sure why they thought this would work at all.. Pretty much nothing will stop that... unless they put squeegees in front of each tire sweeping the track of each wheel...

They look uggly but worse is they automatically make you think heavy. The car looks like it has parking brakes. Or the tethers used on planes to stop them rolling. Not a good look. They don't look fit for purpose. The idea was, quick to apply, quick release but won't fall off. Also, is it just me or is water missing from this test.🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh, water at last. Not much in it.
