- Mercedes have revealed an upgrade package will arrive for the W15 at every round of the season until Silverstone, as Toto Wolff's team prepares a charge on Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari having unlocked new understanding of their car in Imola. Pretty sure it has been this channel who keep saying Merc coming with update to beat Red Bull, but every time there nothing that really improve the car to get any where close to Red Bull.

He's only reporting the latest news and rumours, can't blame him for what toto and others in the media say. The channel is a tad mercedes biased but that's because its interesting how the once dominant team has struggled and that's where most of the press clippings the channel reports on come from.

Allison designed this merc and it still behaving erratic. Furthermore merc best cars were engine dominant, they never built great chassis so thinking they ever built a actual chassis as good as rb is a newcomer mistake.

Yeah, this bothers me too. The team is built around a driver who is rough around the edges (still a good driver though). How can they be so particular about Checo/Tsunoda? They are gonna kick themselves if Yuki jumps ship for a better car (wishful thinking on my part)

Maxipad is a MILE better than anyone on the grid atm. Super polished driver.
There's not a single driver he doesn't beat in equal machinery. He's possibly the best ever and this is coming from a Mclaren fan who really disliked Max and his driving when he came to f1.
They are being picky about Yuki and Checo because neither (well maybe Yuki but still too big a risk) are good enough as a #2.
Look at the other top team pairings, piastri/Norris, Charles/sainz or Lulu, Lulu and George.
Max/checo or Yuki isn't really even an upgrade on Nando/Stroll, no way it's good enough for merc, mclaren or Ferrari's pairings.

@@mackamotorsport2593 We have heard the same sentiment about other drivers in the past---Schumacher, Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso etc. "they are the best blabla" ----once they weren't sitting in the best car they looked easily beatable like all others and all that magic looked gone. F1 is 90% the car. If you switched Max to , McLaren, Ferrari or Merc right now, he'd be battling for 3rd/4th or 5th in the championship like the others..

While I agree Lulu and Seb are overrated a.f Nando isn't, always outdrives the car he has, Kimmi is another and whether you want to admit it or not, Max is as well.
He beat Lulu when Lulu easily had the best car and I don't wanna hear any b.s about the last round, he outdrove Lulu and was the deserving champion for that year.

@@kesh_rMax is a huge factor in this, as he wants Checo as a teammate. He very rarely kicks up a fuss, and will aid Max if he needs it, plus he is easy to beat. As long as they still win the constructors, he will survive.

I agree, Yuki will go to Aston Martin..... RedBull would be foolish to sign anyone besides Sainz.
RB will do what Max tells them to do, and he will want Perez to stay. For a couple of reasons, 1 he is easy to beat, and 2 he causes no friction, he knows he cant say anything or he is a goner, so he keeps his mouth shut.

I really believe Merc has it this time. Remember they developed an ENTIRE new car for 2024, Allison said they would need several races to develop the baseline for this car to know how to develop it. Merc was exactly where they their models said they would be at Imola. I think they finally have an understanding of the car and these regs. If Lewis can win a race before the summer break we may see Max in silver and black next year after all.
I heard all this before many times when it comes to Mercedes

James Allison is being massively underrated by a lot of people who watch F1.
I agree people forget that he has played a major role, either as the head aerodynamicist or Technical Director in the development of cars that have won 23 championships across 4 teams (Benetton, Ferrari, Renault, and Mercedes)
He's amazing but it hasn't made a difference yet.

I would take Yuki over Ocon but both are an improvement over Kmag. Last I heard, Haas has no deal in 2026 with Ferrari so they could go Honda with Yuki.

Honestly, ppl can hate on Kmag all they want, the guy is a very good driver which makes mistakes yes, but also makes up for them.
He is one of the best starters and can deliver some brilliant results.
Furthermore, the team likes him alot, so it would be stupid to replace him, except if some of the big boys would join HAAS, which is rather unlikely.

I have to say I think Max had a brilliant race. I didn't watch the post-race discussions but compared to practice pace I think Red Bull worked all night to get that car to work. I also think they left Perez high and dry. Perez had the pre-quali pace and Max had the tuned pace. Will see what Mercedes can bring. I feel like they have made improvements so perhaps they are heading in the right direction. It seems like McLaren is the big mover and is the most threatening. Mercedes must be beside themselves when Aston Martin last year and now McLaren are beating them with their own gear. At least this season is starting to become more interesting.

not gonna lie, the worst part about any formula 1 news/theories is the way they blow things out of proportion. for example... last year.. perez having won some races and been on multiple podiums, every single time he has a poor performance, the news blowing up about how red bull probably wants to get rid of him etc, when in reality red bull had to bring out a statement they are happy with him. same thing right now.. red bull not quite performing for 2 races... and OK fair enough max isn't slapping the competition as he usually does( bearing in mind every driver talked about miami being a very tricky race and having norris won technically on a really good decision not to pit and when you watched any of imola, it seems they installed speedbumps on every straight the road was so bad.) fair enough i have been saying people have been sleeping on McLaren from the start of the season and they really did alot near the end of the last season, but people are so in the moment they are forgetting the first few races of the season red bull is still ahead of the competition... my speculation is red bull on top and mclaren and ferrari fighting for 2nd..mercedes and aston martin are going to compete against each other.. and haas just needs to keep hulkenberg. williams, sauber and alpine are bottom tier.AND not to knock my favourite team but ferrari should practice their pit stops, they losing out on seconds compared to red bull and mclaren. and if you had asked me last year who my least favourite driver was i would've said either yuki or stroll.but this year yuki is so much more relaxed and it is showing

I wouldn't count Redbull out just yet. I happen to think they were using P1 and P2 to test planned upgrades at Imela before they resorted to a normal setup. They are so far ahead that they can afford to take chances and still come good. As for Mercedes, it's as if they had a deal with the racing gods not to win another race with Hamilton.

And personally I do not believe the other teams have caught up so fast. More bloody likely rb have been told to slow down abit for the sake of the sport. You don't blitz the field for 18 months and then suddenly struggle.
I thought the same but then started thinking well 2-3 years for teams with such massive resources isn't really very fast. Rb have nearly maxed out this the concept and did so very early on. Its like RB started at 50% and the others at 20% and all progressed at the same rate untill RB reach 100% and stop then the others effectively look to suddenly develop quicker when in fact they are still developing at the same rate they have been it's just RB have nearly stopped.
@@busterb6908 I can't realistically believe that rb and newey haven't been able to improve the car though. Yea the others can catch up but 30 seconds a race improvement whilst rb haven't moved forward. If red bull have improved I find it even harder to believe that theyve gained say 45 seconds a race just to keep up

Cost caps in theory should’ve worked brilliantly, a until a certain team decided to breach it which lead to some of the most boring years of F1. So yes, cost caps work if teams are actually given consequences for breaking it.

The cost cap has not been as successful as you may think. The cost cap was put in place so that we could see teams who are further down the grid make the most improvement. We have not seen that. The wind tunnel penalty is only marginally significant. What a team is prohibited on spending in the wind tunnel or CFD, they can make up for by spending on other areas. They simply take from Paul to pay Peter. The teams finishing lower down the grid should also be allowed to spend more and teams with wind tunnel reductions should not be allowed to use the money saved on any other part of the operation.
RB not promoting Yuki is one of the many reasons I hate RB.....

I appreciate that everyone connected to F1 has to stir up some drama and question if Verstappen's Red Bull dominance is coming to an end, and big up how the gap is closing, and speculate that the Mercedes upgrades that are going to bring them into contention, but the reality is that even if Red Bull are having a bad day, they are still second, and when all said and done Red Bull still dominate.
Monaco weekend is party time for everyone connected with F1, it is the final of the "who has the biggest boat" competition in the harbour, and for the rest of us looking in, it is a time trial on the Saturday, followed by a two hour procession on the Sunday. "Jewel in the F1 calendar", is only true if you are on the inside looking out.
Drivers that crash out on the Saturday do have an excuse, but there is no excuse for anyone crashing out on the Sunday, more sick cars have won at Monaco than any other circuit, it is well past its sell-by date. The only hope is that it rains, on and off, at least that creates some pitstop excitement.
