I remember when offline multiplayer was free.
Now the edition name makes sense. Offline multiplayer behind a paywall is Unheard of.
Pepperidge Farm remembers...
I also remember when offline means OFF-LINE
I remember when playing ONLINE via a console was free. It's funny how things turn out when people start capitulating to opportunists over time.
and it was in the game at launch
"We're sorry you feel this way". That's the most gaslighting if I ever heard one.
Not even your narcissist SO would dare to say such a thing
Not even gaslight, this is obvious retort, but more restrained and "polite"
Yea, That hit me like a truck that they didn't give a single damn about what they did.
It's literally the textbook definition given by wikipedia of a fake apology.
reminds me of the battlefield V trailer reveal when a lady with a hook claw hand was 75% of a ww2 shooter trailer. im pretty sure EA/dice also said "we're sorry you feel that way"
BSG: "Its not DLC, its a new game mode"
EA: "Its not a Lootbox, its a surprise mechanic"
Bethesda: "It's not pay2win DLC in single player, it's a paid mod... no wait, it's not a paid mod, it's a COMMUNITY CREATION! (*note: some community creations were made by internal developers)"
Ubisoft: "it's not a game you own, its a license to access the game"
Activision: “It’s not the same game, it’s Call Of Duty 19.”
Needing servers for “offline” means it isn’t offline.
The servers would be for the squad aspect of the PvE, but it's still dogshit
It's how EFT loads loot they randomly generate it using servers
I get that...but what I'm saying is it isn't "offline" offline means you don't need to connect to anything to play the game.
@@Morokiane Well yeah but it's still an offline mode
@@That1Historian if you can play it without connecting to the internet, it's offline. needing an internet connection to connect to their servers in order to play makes it online. it is not offline, it is just a private lobby.
Imagine the arrogance you would need to have to charge $250 for a video game
It's Nikita. He is more than arrogant enough. He did awful things like that before. This situation is the most extreme and just gained attention outside of Tarkov because of the price tag.
Not even a game, DLC lmao
Imagine spending $250 for a game.
Correction, sir. (Put's on fabulous marketing team suit) You are mistaken in thinking that our beloved players would be paying $250 for just a 'video game'. That isn't what's being sold. What's being sold is a symbol of unity between our most loyal players, and a reward for those players, who have stuck by us in the darkest of nights. The reward will manifest as an early access to a brand new, well-polished, and highly anticipated game mode and other various fantastic marvelously magnificent 'Trade for Advantage' features!
It is not with 'arrogance' that we introduce our new project to our beloved players....It is with PRIDE!. Huh? What about EOD? WHO CARES!!! Why look at the past when the future is so bright? Abandoning a glorious future for some silly promise from the past? That's.....UNHEARD of!!!
Join us, make your 250$ contributions, prove your loyalty and we promise you....ALL of you...Your loyalty will be rewarded. TRUST. US.
Note: this game is still in early access. And it’s $250.
I don’t even play this game but i’m so invested in the fumble this dev has on their hands
This is peak entertainment
lol praying on their downfall🙏
Like with Stellar Blade: false advertising doesn't go over well with gamers. This developer is gonna go down hard: get the snacks and drinks ready folks cause this shows going to be a hoot.
@@The_Phoenix_SagaI have my mountain dew and popcorn ready
Same, used to play it but haven't in a while, I'm interested to see how much worse BSG gets
"Massive step in the right direction," my ass. More like minor step back after a MASSIVE step over the line.
EA, Activision Blizzard, and Ubisoft all never crossed this line. That's saying something.
Yet
I don't know, Ubisoft said that people should get comfortable with not owning their games. Which is just just as bad, maybe even worse, actually.
@@viva6235 if I don't own their game then technically I've never stolen any of their games either
You can bet damn well EA is taking pointers from this. EA needs to be shut down for fraud. They’re not a gaming company anymore, they’re a gambling company preying on gamers.
They most definitely did, every dev you mentioned is literal dogshit and has been dogshit predatory ripoff shams for over a decade. The fact dipshits even still acknowledge Assassin’s Creed’s existence baffles me
ppl forget that even the 50 dollar version should get the Offline version, for fks sake, ITS A BASIC THING EVERY GAME SHOULD HAVE
You mean "Legacy features"
B-b-but it needs to be connected to our servers 🥺 so we can steal your data 🥺🥺🥺 And add DRM 🥺🥺🥺
Yeah that's my exact thought
*cough* download SPT MOD *cough*
Yep..actually crazy that there was a day you played offline multiplayer because you couldnt afford to play online now they are trying to charge for it lol
If I were the greedy dev I'd give the $250 price tag a 50% off discount as an "apology " because I'd still get rich due to the staggering amount of whales and morons in the internet
Dude stop reading their play book. That's exactly what they are going to do.
Delightfully devilish Mangopie
They did, its 50% off for eod owners.
The consumers of the gaming industry today are pure suckers and morons
$125 is still waaay too much for a freaking DLC😂🤦♂️
Apology translation:
We say sorry because we have to, not because we actually are.
We have not learned anything.
We'll try again later.
Thx tho
They're guilty of false advertising for Edge of Darkness. They're open to getting sued.
You know this shit is shameless when even the helldivers 2 devs start roasting them.
They did ? 😮
@@GamerKahn No, they didn't. He's making shit up...
@@GamerKahnit’s in the video…
@Talon97 it's literally on x....are you running low on brain cells?
Hard for me to be on their side considering they still haven't fixed basic friend request and matchmaking for crossplay in their own game months after release.
*”We’re sorry we bullshitted to the community. We wanted some extra money.”*
“It’s ok because I have a reason” 😂
"Anyway here's some more bullshit, we still want that bag"
If they just came out and said that but for the purpose of expanding the studio to pay new hires I'd understand. But they're not, they want bigger bag.
I wish they were that honest and straightforward lol
They're not even sorry about the fact they bullshitted. They're sorry about the community response they received after bullshitting
"We don't have enough resources on our online servers for everyone to play without using our online servers."
This part really got me wondering how this "offline mode" was this poorly falsely advertised.
Good catch!
"we can't let you access *******OFFFFFFFFFFFLINE*********** mode because of our *************ONLINE SERVER CAPABILITIES************" THAT'S NOT FKING OFFLINE MODE THEN IF YOU'RE CONNECTING TO FUCKING SERVERS!!!! WHAT KIND OF GASLIGHTING FUCKERY IS THIS!?!?!?!??
Escape from Tarkov: You can play offline with your friends
Also Escape from Tarkov: permanent internet connections needed to play offline with your friends
Well, they just tried to change definition of DLC so why not the difinition of "offline" 😁
"We're sorry you feel this way."
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the literal, textbook definition of a false apology. Typing "I'm sorry you feel that way" redirects to the 'non apology apologies' page of wikipedia.
more like gaslighting 😂
"Play offline with friends" locked behind 250$ paywall is the real scam here. If you got friends that will pay 250$ to play offline with you. You better be kissing the homies good night, if they willing to make that poor of a financial decision to play games with you.
tbh I think it would've been better if they gave you literally everything online for $10 a month instead of asking for hundreds of dollars upfront. The offline stuff should've all been in the base game from launch for $30 at most. People nowadays would be fine paying a handful of bucks to play online every month as long as it was subtantial.
tbf, i dont even expect my girlfriend to pay for online to play together, imagine on top of that paying 250USD E A C H for fucking escape for tarkov of all things.
like, for 500usd, thats like 6 triple As and one indie we could be playing together instead.
and all of that without considering the microtransactions bs...
@@HauntakuTV After 7 years that's 840 dollars. Realistically people would cancel the subscription whenever they're busy but if a studio couldn't finish the game off $150 editions the higher ups are mismanaging the project and not deserving to ask 800 freaking dollars.
@@ChucksSEADnDEAD I think the point is that you can cancel anytime with a subscription without committing to a $250 game. If you want to pay 7 years straight, that's your prerogative. Heck, I know I only subscribe to netflix for one month only whenever something interesting comes out.
I'll say it again: this game & its dev has been laced with red flags from the start.
Even if you ignore the critic silencing, they still had the nerve to ask for $150 for an unfinished multiplayer game.
It was obvious what kind of people they are.
When does this crap start to become criminal? We need courts/judges to step in and fix this crap. Gaming was one of my favorite things to do since I was a kid (I'm in my 30s now) and this crap is just driving me further and further away.
dropping an unironic "im sorry you feel that way". says a lot about how these devs feel about their paypigs. their paypigs are simply an obstacle between them and BSGs money.
Even the cheaters are hunting the paypigs. It's actually somewhat entertaining
Not really. Would "Sorry we caused so much frustration" be any better? That's more accurate way to think of what he wrote
@@HellDuke-he should say sorry we fucked up it won’t happen again. Nothing less then that
It's all about the whales for these types of games man, I watched a UA-cam recently about how games like these cater to such whales and how that a super small percentage like 1-2 percent covers an insanely large percentage of income. Some games will go to crazy lengths to keep them happy, it's like being a VIP top spender at a Las Vegas casino...
Its the same exact response they had to Single Player Tarkov. They wanted SO bad to shut it down and monetize it for themselves but realized they literally had 0 legal ground to do so as it requires purchasing the game to play SPT. Lead dev literally said "If we could shut it down, we would." They don't respect their community, and have always been shitty to the players, but its always been in a cheeky tone that everyone laughed at. Now its obvious they just genuinely dont give a shit about anyone except those who wanna pay big bucks to play.
"You do not need to buy anything at any stage."
Well...that aged well
Even that is a setup for a bait and switch when they can just put a two next to the product next time they want money.

At least we know he did actually write it himself rather than getting someone else to do it for him, for what that's worth.
This smells alot like "let's start with something as egregious as possible and then backpedal until enough people are appeased and everyone forgets about it".
And you know it'll work.
@@GiegueX I dunno, EFT players are a unique breed
That's anchoring, baby!
@@vizirothyeah bruh EFT players are built completely different. I never got super into the game (I suck) but I've always kept up with it And I definitely recall BattleState getting HELLA shit in the early days cause they were always fucking up. But they hadn't built that cult following and ravenous fan base yet. So they started cleaning up. To me this is just a showing that they're still exactly who they were 6 years ago. Fuck up, back peddle, monetize.... But the industry has changed drastically in literally just the past 2 years. BSG might've just done something irreparable.
@@SunzNbunz yeah, this is coming off the tail end of one of the most popular wipe updates in a long time, and it's one of their worse fuck ups. they built themselves up high before toppling down. even some of the streamers that make their money off this game are boycotting it. even the dreaded cheaters are "siding" with the community and targeting people that have bought the unhinged edition extra hard. the moderators of the subreddit are letting people ignore the rules if they're bashing the new edition. the discord moderators are making fun of it. the like community reps trying to put nikita in the best light still make him out to be a monster. this is a move nobody liked.

Do your part, learn to code. Godot is free and there are tons of tutorials on youtube.
They aren't giving the PvE mode to everyone, only to Edge of Darkness owners as an attempt at an apology while adding more perks to a now discontinued edition.
This is a cataclysmic level self own from Battlestate.
Also small reminder of Battlestate's previous behavior. Some Canadian players found unapproved charges coming out of their bank accounts, and Battlestate vehemently denied everything.
I remember when:
- Single player didn’t require an internet connection
- local multiplayer was free
- games came with free merch like stickers
- map packs and cosmetics were actually free
- micro transactions didn’t exist
- battle passes didn’t exist
- loot boxes didn’t exist
- pay 2 win didn’t exist
- games were fun and not a full time grind job or progression were slowed down to monetise skips etc.
Good old time! 😢
Everything going digital brought greed
I'm slightly older than you, I remember when ANY game didn't need an internet connection, including multiplayer games.
Aren't arcade games P2W? Even if you have the skills of a game journo by feeding enough coins into the machine you can still win. P2W is as old as videogames.
@@Sheevlord I think you misunderstand what pay 2 win means. Pay to win means you get an advantage over everyone else.

If you download it after the base-game download it's DLC: Downloadable Content. That's LITERALLY what it is by definition.
As Cr1tikal put it: "This is like trying to argue that a poop is not a shit."

Billion dollar company "doesn't have the server infrastructure" what a cop out.
Yeah I don’t get that. THEN GET MORE FUCKING SERVERS!! These idiots working on this game don’t realize they need to invest in their own creation before it can start generating money. That’s the basics of all business. You need capital to start and without capital (enough servers) all you have is an idea.
I’m not an expert on how they get more servers. Idk if it’s physical servers they just plug in or buying space on the interwebs. But it doesn’t make any sense why they don’t have the ability to get more servers… pathetic excuse indeed.
Okay yeah it's a cop-out but in what world is Battlestate a "billion dollar company"? Their 2022 financial report indicates that Battlestate has only ever made $200 million in total revenue. And that's REVENUE, not PROFIT, so it doesn't account for the overhead costs of development, server maintenance, advertising, staffing, office space, etc.
Battlestate is NOT a billion dollar company. I bet you could multiply Battlestate's total profits tenfold and they STILL wouldn't be a billion dollar company.
@@toxikyle5419 yeah the Tarkov fans exaggerate and lie just like the Dev's. they're both untrustworthy.

WHAT KIND OF GASLIGHTING FUCKERY IS THIS!?!?!?!??
@@zeening Remember the Simcity remake from a couple of years back? EA: "We can't have an offline mode because some of the game's processes have to be done on our server". An incredibly awkward way to develop a game if it was true...until it was proven to be a pack of lies as a hacker was able to not only enable an offline mode for himself but also build beyond the limits retail versions put onto you.
EA then patched in an offline mode later which made the entire statement false from every angle, not just one. Escape from Tarkov's Offline mode is feeling like this same thing but with a different skin on it ;^^
At this point I am tired of hearing apologies after apologies from dev . They know what they are doing , they just don't care .
What annoys me the most is the offline mode isn't even offline
It only technically is because it's offline from the main servers, you're connecting to servers outside of the main servers instead, I don't understand why someone can't just host the game
So many other games do multi-player by having someone host the game
Edit: I was wrong, the thing annoys me the most is you pay 250$ and get offline mode that isn't even offline mode
When success gets to your head, you forget that you have to please the people who made you successful.
Escape From Tarkov can change their name to Escape From Relevancy.
it's called escape from tarkov because players should escape to a better game ASAP
"I'm sorry you feel that way" is about as worthless as an apology gets.
If I were someone in Arena Breakout team, I'd be suggesting buying the knife skin from what ever asset store EFT got it from. Adding it to Arena Breakout as "Super-unique" Knife skin. Then make it just a login bonus to rag on EFT even more.
If you're in same genre, kicking EFT while they're down and trying to milk them for responses is good marketing/publicity for your own game. Not only gets your product's name out their as an alternative, but is also basically saying your studio stands against the business practice your competitor is using that angered their customers.
"I'm sorry you feel that way" is NOT an apology

The first time I've ever heard of Tarkov was when they abused the DMCA system to take down negative videos about them. No surprise they're still as scummy as ever.
If I were to write a guide on how to publicly apologise, not saying the words "I'm sorry you feel that way" would be Chapter 1
Should have called it the "Unheard Of Edition" for how outrageous this stunt was.
The Outrageous Audacity edition
You may be happy to know this is becoming the "edition heard round the world."
They went full Greedy. You never go Full Greedy.
Asking $250 for a version of your game is quite mad. Asking that for a game that is still in BETA is *really* a questionable thing. Locking an offline PVE mode behind that version is downright scummy. Breaking your promise to people who al ready paid for a previous $150 version of the game is borderline evil.
The nonpology and the way the dev react to criticism shows what they truly are: Scum. This type of behaviour is truly Unheard of.
I've never played this, and I think it's absolutely ridiculous that anybody would ask even half this price for any game. But all I hope is that everybody will keep the same energy at any and all times other companies do something like this and not compromise just because the hypothetical situation would apply to a game they want to play in the future.
I feel like even after this update there’s still probable cause for a class action lawsuit here. Lots of ammo for a lawyer to do something with this

At this point, I don't think they're worthy of forgiveness. This is just blatant gaslighting, egotism, and idiocy at work.
“I’m sorry you feel this way” feels the same with the completist’s ‘apology’ when he said the same thing when he doesn’t send the donations to where it supposed to go.
"We don't have the server capacity for the offline mode as of now", a sentence that has been said exactly once, against all odds.
Am I missing something? How is it an offline mode if it requires a connection to their servers?
Nope you're right. I strongly doubt they mean they need capacity just for the sake of tracking progression etc. That is extremely lightweight in terms of capacity.
It seems obvious to me that they don't believe in the success of the core product. If they did, they would upgrade their capacity to support any feature of the game which may draw in prospective buyers - instead, they are essentially trying to make the buyers indirectly pay for the capacity. Whackadoodle stuff.
It's right up there with "the ship has a stamina bar"
It's not offline, it's just a private lobby on their servers.
@@GentleWruzzPuppet They should really just call it a private lobby then, good lord that's misleading lol.
I give it less than 2 years before other companies start trying to pull shit like this. My money’s on 2K first, EA second.
2k and Ubisoft... that's a VERY close race for first place. Hrm... 🤔
Gonna enter Konami as a contender
Fallout First, anyone...
Bethesda might do that with Fallout 76.
You really underestimate the depravity of EA. I would guess they rerelease Ultima for full price. 60 per pixel game.
This is the most Ubisoft move the devs could've gone. Game and apology.
I've not played this game at all but have found the news around it absurd.
In my mind, even if they were to "roll this back" 100% by removing the $250 edition, giving the DLC to the players who deserve it, sending out a serious apology, etc.
All of that is still not enough. You cant just do something horrible, put it all back - and then be immune to punishment...
Imagine someone robs a store; "realizes" how much of a mistake that was, and returns the items after they get caught. They should still go to jail...
And this company should be forced to undergo full scrutiny from both its community and the legal systems.
In my opinion they deserve zero chance to fix this. Enough companies have had scummy things like this and they should have known better. Only way to fix this for the future is to let it die now, so future devs take notice and stop taking advantage of the good will of players.
I will certainly never buy this game. I was interested in it for a while but the fact it’s still in early access and not even on Steam has made me hesitant to spend $50 on the base game. Now I can say 100% I’m never getting it. I’m sure there’s more out there like me too and that’s not good for a company. You never want to turn off potential new customers. Good job BSG!
Every time I log on the EFT after downloading the new “feature content” now it’s just a little button in the corner that I can’t access because my wallet’s not thick enough….. I don’t see this game is paid to win when a hacker will just take that $250 gear from you minutes into the game.
It’s almost like developers forget that their nothing without the players. Shame stuff like this keeps happening.

Thankful no. But not really an apology. It's been a ride
Nikita basically said "I'm sorry you feel this way"
To be fair we need to be more cost conscious across the board to keep corporations in line. When we pay $1000+ for a phone, &70 for a game worth $50 tops, $20+ for a burger, $18+ for a bowl of ramen, $6+ for a cookie, etc., why wouldn’t Ubisoft and these clowns here for Tarkov not try to see how far we will go overpay for a product?
Selling other people's assets as "unique gear" is incredibly vile behavior for a dev team to do, for creators to steal and resell other work that directly is disgusting
It's one thing to use store assets in the core game, but to buy a model from an artist and resell their work directly as dlc is criminal and disgusting
Oh damn. They really pulled the "Sorry you feel that way" card 😬💀😂
🍿🍿🍿
Bruh. Do they really think we're that stupid? Like, no really? The fact that they're trying this should be a resounding alarm for people as a buyer beware. You can trust nothing they say.
Sadly, a lot of gamers are that stupid.
I am still stuck on the fact that this game, rife with hackers/cheaters, has been in beta for 7 years and people ACTUALLY shelled out money for additional assets before the game ever made any reports of potentially moving forward in its developmental stage. Its no surprise that the devs thought they could pull this off, they've been shivving their player base for a hot minute now and have been reaping the benefits all the while.
Can’t companies be sued for attempting to reverse course in these situations? Like, they’re even modifying the rule book. Definitely not a precedent to be set.
In theory yes but in practice who will waste months or years and thousands of dollars to fight company for 150 bucks especially since there would be a lot of arguing about semantics that can go either way.
Precedent was already set anyway, just few years back Bethesda did the same thing.
They sold people season pass for Fallout 4 promising all future content then out of the blue added creation club (something that wasn't even teased when season passes were first sold) and were arguing that this is a completely different thing, not a DLC, even when made by Bethesda employees (They did all sort of gymnastics to avoid any label, they were also arguing these weren't paid mods...just creations made by modders that you pay for and many of them were a version of already existing mods....) so it's not covered by their obligation. They did all the same tricks with changing website description and such to change terms of the transaction made years before
I remember how much hate was directed at guy (from what was reported it was still a kid and his parents) who was actually trying to fight Bethesda to get what was originally promised to him. No idea if they came to agreement or if the lawsuit was dropped but in any case it got potentially solved for one guy but rest of the community got ripped and they were actually happy about it
that chatgpt apology is just the icing on the cake
you can tell it's not even chatgpt because if it was it would of been less garbage
To play devils advocate, how many people bought a beta for $150? Why wouldn't they think they could get away with this?
if i remember right, the $150 beta was with the promise that ALL future dlc and expansions would be automatically included. it was kinda like buying into the "complete edition".
@@Zogger568 That's correct, but it was still dropping 150 bucks for an early acess game. Really only Star Citizen Cultists have been this stupid before.
You're right. They got away with it once already, so of course they thought they could get the dents to pay up another hundo.
@@EskChan19forget about fallout 76?
@@Zogger568 I feel like every few years games get burned because of "promises" made by someone trying to sell something to you. Collectively, we should look at things like that as red flags and not throw massive amounts of cash at them for nothing.
3:06 Stop. Why is server infrastructure important for an 'offline', 'not DLC' gamemode that was promised to come for free for those who had the previous pack?
If a lawsuit was started over this whole thing i would not be surprised.
Funny is, there are many of us Tarkov players that can play Offline for years now, all i need to have is at least the standard edition, and now the COOP MOD has been updated again and now i can basically play the PVE MODE with my friends and all i need is the Standard edition of Tarkov, modders from this game are insane!
They truly are pioneers of greed, setting the example, and testing the waters for what is and is not going to work on communities.
We cannot and should not buy into these greedy packages and editions (lookin at you SW Outlaws)
I know there will be the diehard fans and whales who will purchase, but so long as the average consumer can keep money in their pocket, we’ll send a message. The reason they keep doing shit like this is because it’s working - it truly does come down to what we do and what we choose to spend our hard-earned money on.
Sadly we won't be able to choose what we should spend our money on. Because we won't own anything and we'll be happy with it, although we know we won't be happy with owning nothing and always Having our money and our belongings taken away by these people whose only purpose is to satisfy their selfish and blind lust and wishes to become like the politicians.
Is like what O'Brien said to smith in 1984.
"Always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - for ever"
6:07 "I'm sorry you think you need an apology" -Rick Sanchez. wow
I always wonder how do people not see the pattern? Like there was this 150$ edition that said "Get all DLC for free!". Then they sneakily remove that, make a 250$ edition and say "Get all DLC for free with this edition only!". Why do people fall for that? Why isn't people's first thought "If they do this once, what's going to stop them from just scratching that and making a 500$ version that says "get all DLC for free!" next time? If they start to redefine what DLC means now, why do you think they will EVER release "DLC" again and not JUST "additionally paid Feature Upgrades"?
Basically, since they have shown that they are willing to fuck the userbase for any penny they can get, why do people believe that this is a one time thing and won't turn into a pattern?
What do you expect, gamers are probably the worst customer group around, always ignoring all red flags, always ignoring previous experiences and accepting the worst possible offer only to then act surprised when next one is even worse
If anything I am actually surprised there is any outrage.
Just few years back Bethesda did the same thing.

I'm more blown away from the fact that they actually think their game worth $250. Probably a door-in-the-face strategy but still it's absurd
The game is $150. $250 is for the extra features. So over all they think their game is worth $400 total. With the $250 you don’t get the game. Only the extra features. You still need to buy the base game to access it.
@@alexc9434 Is it though? I understand what you're trying to say but I don't think the base game is $150. Standard edition is $50 and the EOD is $150. I know this because I own EOD for myself. The upgrade from EOD to Unheard costs $150 I remember.
Well, I’ve definitely UNHEARD of such a game self destructing at this speed. Not even the AAA COMPANIES destroyed themselves this FAST!!!
16 times the greed !
Just a reminder that publishers cannot pull the rug out from under you if you dont pre order.
I said it already: an OFFLINE Pve mode who is dependent on "server capacity" from the end of the developer is by definition NOT offline.
As an EOD owner this was a final nail in the coffin. I'm glad that they backpedaled but it doesn't excuse the predatory behavior. I've been playing Tarkov since 2018 and its always just been broken promises.
As per-usual nikita doesn't do anything till it blows up in his face, hopefully they learn from this and move in the right direction for the future but I am not a fan of paying 150$ and being told that ALL DLC's are free in the future to then get slapped in the face and told "NUH UH! THATS NOT WHAT IT SAYS!" and double down on said decision.
If BSG woulda just said "we need money" then I'm sure people would have helped instead of this P2W unjustifiable priced (250$ USD) edition being added, as its TRUELY UNHEARD OF people wanting to buy said edition.
“I’m glad they backpedaled…”, why? What was gained?
YOU are party of the problem brother mane
@@noonyabeezniss4911 Maybe they are, but let's celebrate them waking up a little yeah?
I already thought that the 250 dollar edition was a borderline scam, didn't realize it ACTUALLY WAS.
Here comes the lawsuits, fraudulent advertising and bait/switch tactics are hella illegal.
They knew how unheard of this was, it's in the damn title!! The Unheard of Edition!
It is very concerning on the fact that they consciously think a $250 price on an early access game is ok and even shocked the community got angry by this. Proves how greed can blinds you. I want to emphasize that this is an early access game, it's not released yet. Idk wtf these people in the studio was smoking, but I'm sure they are high af.
The whole server capacity line is suspect. If everyone bought the new edition then that means their servers would have crashed when they launched it.
I suspect the claim is a half truth. They can set up additional capacity or rent more racks from their vendor, whatever solution they have in place for capacity. They just don't intend to, and never did. They figured that those who buy the DLC are basically paying for that small amount of capacity and they are getting a nice chunk of change on the side.
Usually games eat cost to set up experiences which draw people into the game. They are portioning sections off and charging their user base for that. It's absolutely backwards and slimy.
This is the reason I never play games in forever BETA
thx for the update.
Sad that such a game, not even fully released, is still being supported by a community.
I don't understand even one person forgiving anyone who does this kind of thing. it isn't like " oh sorry I wasnt thinking" or something small. it is a scumbag move and will never be forgiven.
The video game business is changing, this is like the 3rd game they just straight up lied about what they were doing and stole money from gamers. (KDJL, Escape of Tarkov, The Day After)
I was gonna say that days gone was a much bigger scam, but the ratio of the prices is pretty close rip-off wise
If you read between the lines: almost all of these compromises will either be easily obfuscated in back-end code, making it hard to tell if they're actually there at all, or won't have to be done until the game releases, which may or may not happen at some arbitrary time in the future.
Either it's a feature that's added on top of the base game, behind some form of paywall (DLC).
Or it's a new feature being added to the base game, in which case EVERY player should have access.
And this is why I bought gray zone because tarkov is unraveling fast and I Intend to buy other frames that are pretty good looking
I'm going to try to save some people some money and time.
If a game costs more than the standard 60 to $70 price tag, then it is a scam.
All those extra cool features from different Editions were not originally developed to be "extra". These things were developed normally and then Cherry Picked to become "extras". And the extra money that you're paying for these "special features" is going straight into the pockets of the CEOs and board members, not the Developers.
So, just don't buy anything in the gaming world that goes over the accepted standard max price for a fully developed game.
"Thanks for the hate" (thanks for the attention he meant). Does he remember that he is talking to the game's fans? He is not talking to "haters" he is talking to offended fans. To the people he should be grateful.
I mean wtf. Despite being obviously in the wrong and apologizing, he still acts passive aggressive. That guy lacks all self control.
Doubling down on the douché bag'ness is wild. Shame on the devs
I mean paying 100$+ for a game is already crazy. What more to say 250. Tarkov players are quite well off, rich i must say
