Turtle Wax Fabric Protector Review

- Ok so I had to film one more video with Turtle Wax fabric protector because I felt this product had more to give so I gave it 2 more applications to see if it really does live up to the claims!
In this test I experiment with wiping my trainers onto the mat that had previously been protected Turtle Wax and G Techniq Smart Fabric and the results shocked me.

Great test - confirms our internal ones ;-)
Quick comment from us regarding forever chemicals. This is related to fluoropolymers. Our fabric coating does not contain fluoropolymers - ours is based on silicon technology so no forever chemicals.
the odour is from the isopropyl alcohol "carrier". We trialled water based carriers which eliminate odour. Downside is because water "flashes off" much slower, your interior would stay wet for a couple of days instead of some hours.
Thanks G techniq 🙏, apologies will correct that information 😀
That's absolutely brilliant product testing right there!
Also, completely agree, these fabric protectors are just not worth it on high traffic areas.
Thanks mate
On that note, have you seen the new upgrades on Bilt Hamber's Touch less? Shown on Jon's channel, 2% PIR... I smell a juicy new video comparison between GT snow foam V2 and this new version of Touchless is a go!
Couldn’t agree more waste of money ,it’s all hype and marketing
@@simonmarsh5007 It's a shame I think G Techniq stuff is good but it can be pricey and it's not for stuff that is gonna get abused but what's the solution other than cheap plastic rubber mats to protect the carpet?
@@kwl189 yeah I get that and to be fair I’ve used there stuff before and it’s been very good ,still think infinity wax do the best stuff across the board so rate there product
Very timely Dave. I cleaned my son’s car seats today and was looking into protecting the fabric and you have saved me a lot of leg-work research.
Great test, Dave.
Well, these products aren`t meant and used for floor mats, but it clearly shows what they're able to do.
We use GTechniq SF on the interior carpets, seats and fabric convertible roofs with great success.
Can't recommend it enough for.
Little disclaimer:
Don't use such product on floor mats, bc
a. they didn't last long, so a big waste of money and
b. they'll prevent the mats doing their intended job ;)
For the carpet underneath the mats, fabric sealants are great, thou.
Best regards from Bavaria.
Chris
Once again another fantastic and informative video as always Dave.
Are you being sponsored by Next lol
Lol I wish I was, I just got a lot of clothes from next at Christmas 😅
Perfect follow up test!!!
Thanks Andreas 🙏
Great video again Dave
Thank you
Hmmm, the instructions on the bottle seem way more comprehensive compared with the ones on the tw web site. I can only hope that its best usage is with the TW fabric cleaner, and works better on soft top roofs. Thanks for the great info and re-test, amazing work
It would be interesting if the manufacturers have anything to say.
After all, they must know about the performance and durability (or lack of) but they still keep selling them.
I think the problem is they do protect to a certain extent but they don't state durability based on how much use you get out of it. If I lightly sprayed water it would be slightly different. Still not worth it though
Good video Dave. Even though not a "scientific test" per se, I still say this is a very valid way to judge a product. Follow the instructions, product should perform as it claims on the bottle. You do make a very valid point, on high traffic areas and with just a few scuff's from your shoes, any product is pretty much gone. Granted, the Gtechniq product would probably last a little longer and I do subscribe to working in the product with a brush or gloves as others have stated to coat the product over all areas of the fiber, but, I also agree with you that it does not state that on the bottle so one really shouldn't be expected to do that to get better results. It should work perfectly exactly as stated on the bottle, but clearly this one does not. A different detailing channel just did a similar "home test" on rinseless washes and I was shocked at which one came out on the very top and two other ones that failed miserably by the non-scientific method. It proved right before your eyes which one worked as the manufacturer claimed. Anybody can put anything on a bottle and claim it does something, but unless it works as stated, the product will probably be defunct in about six months and it will then be sold in bargain outlet stores or on clearance someplace. I don't need fancy packaging or slick marketing, only a great product that works as claimed for a reasonable price. That's the most important thing to me as a consumer and weekend enthusiast.
Inside job is very impressive 👍
Been testing it today. Very pleased so far
Gtech products are one of the best out there! Great video as always.
yeah seriously brilliant products! thanks for watching mate
I look forward to the video if you do it of the suite of 3 tyre and wheel cleaners and protection by turtle wax that I rate really highly in fact so far they maybe are my favourite but Yum is next on my list to try I think.
I may do more videos like this soon. I got so many products in the studio that I need to use but definitely will do something like this in the summer for sure
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the great follow up video Dave. That Turtle Wax product really was a pile of crap which was a shame asTurtle Wax do make some good products such as their seal and shine/hydrophobic sealant wax. The problem with Turtle Wax is that their products can be a bit hit and miss.
bang on. Hit and miss is what i would say too
This follow up needed to happen. I expected the TW to improve a lot more than it did. I want something for when I next wet vac my car seats and G Tecniq it will be. Shall not be doing the mats!!
G Techniq wasnt much better after wiping my feet on the mats so protecting mats in general should come with some sort of expectation advice for customers or they may just presume its protected for life.
I do like some Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions products, but this one does look like a loser. Great video Dave.
Yes I do too that's why I feel disappointed with this one as the rest are exceptional
Hi Dave, when are you going to showcase the cheap ali express product? Apologies if you have and I just can’t find the video.
I've been doing it individually mate. Also some will be on my V2 channel
Perfect, can’t wait. Relatively new here, been watching for about a year now. I’m 15 and have started up my own detailing business (sort of). Your channel has been so helpful in my journey, can’t thank you enough.
@@Auto_Aesthetics_ thanks mate. I have 177 videos to get through 😁
I know lol, watched about 40 so far 😂. Always excited every time you upload.
😂that’s a classic love that so in all honesty both of them are great if you protect them and then you have contact over the material in time there would be probably be no gain ,which is good because things like this keep me in work 😂
Just shows a lot of it just money making to a certain degree,
Yep exactly. I didn't tread on the mats any longer than I did in this clip so was amazed at how pointless it felt
Waterproof hair! Next video make that happen please.
I could test it on a wig but not worth the risk on my actual hair 😅
@@epicautomotivedetailing that's no fun. Maybe we can see if Jay would volunteer 🤣
@@Pez_220 lol hope he's ok haven't seen him in ages
@@epicautomotivedetailing He is doing well buddy
Dear David, your hair cut is not trendy lol it needs to be reversed like mine. the missing hair area needs to be all over the top. Also i take it that isnt a citroen/peugeot mat ? the picasso is gone now and im sad to say im missing it as i cant get 2 ton of crap in the new car. Take care and keep it up
Lol I'm 38 I have hair, that for me is a win 😂
lol true enough@@epicautomotivedetailing
ROUND 2...............................................................................
There won't be round 3 after this one lol
@@epicautomotivedetailing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I applaud you for going back and giving Turtle Wax a fair test. Of course, it might have been more fair if you had a NEW bottle of Turtle Wax's product. Just sayin'
Thanks but just a reminder at the end of the video when I wiped my feet on the mat both products did poorly and the g techniq was brand new bottle so in my opinion protection for mats is pointless really. May be ok on seats for short term
Tip if your going to apply any of these products use a stiff brush to work product into fibers
I believe the point is, that’s not in the instructions and clearly Turtle Wax has failed here in their offering. 3 applications and still not great, shame, I use turtle wax a lot but will avoid this one!
Yeah I agree but this is aimed at the domestic market and they don't tell the users to do this. I sprayed extra product and if this was sprayed with a stream / mist of water it would have behaved differently but it really didn't do it for me sadly. But then again after wiping my feet on the mat the g techniq was gone as well so I'll never protect mate anymore
As a detailer ... why would you use Turtle Wax ???
No not at all
U couldn’t use this as interior protector it would take far to much time to make any money on this service with this product gtechnic all the way I love there products never been disappointed and I have many
Yeah it's really opened my eyes up to interior protection for not just mats but seats.
