    Went out to Leech Lake a month ago with my dad. We caught three walleye, 5 bass including a three pounder, a dozen northern pike, and lots of perch.

    Hello, Excellent walleye video! My father used to love to tell the story of his first walleye with "the Buster Brown eyes." My uncle would take his family to Walker every year for over 50 years. They would stay at a resort called "Killworry." Could you please, in the next video talk about how you rig your line: hooks, sinkers, spinners & floats? Thank you & Good fishin'!☺

    Never have tried this will need to sometime Sounded like you just search depth area difference of 4-5 feet do you sit the slip bobber in middle of the depth difference that is being searched? Like if searching 22-26ft do you sit it at around 23-24ft or do yo sit it at 21ft

    • @donluebesmier3293
      @donluebesmier3293 3 роки тому

      This was my very same question. Mark the fish, drop the line and stop the boat, how deep was slip bobber set at if searching 22’-26’ depth ?

    Should see the smoke up here in Eastern Manitoba and NW Ontario so thick you can cut it some days. Then again I've got fires across the lake to the west, north east and south of me and I jut out into Lake Winnipeg on a peninsula to catch every last bit of smoke coming from whatever way the wind blows.

    Tom you and shelbster need to come a little further north to LOTW the bite is on fire right now with a lot of big eyes being caught. The musky are hitting too. This week landed a 31 1/2 12.2 lb giant walleye and many 26-28 inchers. Would make awesome video 👍

    • @briantix7693
      @briantix7693 3 роки тому

      Maybe so but aren't the eaters missing, supposedly the ice fishermen took them that the gillnets lining the eastern shore missed, and aren't the only real good fishing spots 15 miles up into the main basin or further?

    • @finsfeathersandbone2823
      @finsfeathersandbone2823 3 роки тому

      I’ve been fishing only 5 miles straight out from Morris point on the field so not far at all. The eater size are there as well but you definitely have to weed through a lot of smaller fish. I typically will not keep a walleye under 15 so you have to work at it for sure. But that’s fishing. I’m still using jigs with frozen shiners where most people are pulling cranks or spinners I get bored with that method quickly.

    • @briantix7693
      @briantix7693 3 роки тому +1

      I'm glad you're doing well.. I've been fishing that lake since 1970... Used to be limits at the gap year-round.. then I had to go to oak Island area for limits... then moved to Morson, then had to start fishing the very center of the lake for a good fishing I'm talking 40 plus walleyes a day... I'm just kind of bummed out that great fishing in that lake is not as good as it once was.

    • @finsfeathersandbone2823
      @finsfeathersandbone2823 3 роки тому +1

      Brian I’m not sure how it was back then I wasn’t born until 72 but I do know the gap is being hit hard. I tend to find my own fish by that I mean I don’t fish within a mile of ANYONE I just seem to do a lot better finding my own spots that aren’t pressured and seem to get more quality fish by doing it my way instead of being in a pack of boats where everyone is doing the same thing. I have seen many photos and heard lots of stories of how good it used to be in the old days but so much has changed since then it’s no surprise the lake isn’t the same. Just technology alone has changed the lake with electronics allowing a person to find them so easily but the list goes on and on as to why. Great chat👍

    The family and I were on Cold Lake yesterday in Alberta and if it weren't for being skeptical of the weather due to the heat and calmness we would have been caught out in a mini "hurricane". The smoke can end any-fricken-time now but people need to pay attention to the clouds. The distant clouds are barely seen through the smoke on good days and the weather networks have not been too correct on the forecasts for the past few days. This years vacation has been very slow for fishing since the 2 month long heat wave created a "dog day summer". I've been trying a lot of your tactics but the fish seem to be just too full since the schools of bait fish are abundant.

    • @finsfeathersandbone2823
      @finsfeathersandbone2823 3 роки тому +1

      When bite gets tough like that due to abundance of bait fish change tactics to more aggressive style like jigging raps/shiver minnows or something that rattles it becomes more of a reaction strike. Basically you’re irritating them into biting. It works most of the time.
