    So informative and appreciate all the caveats to be mindful of when adopting the gel method. The tip to initially pour glitter before dipping (gently) is a game changer! For someone who was apprehensive to attempt this method again, you conquered your fear! Beautiful mani! Grey and blush pink brings back high-school memories, waaaaassy back when 🤐

    Wonderful tutorial! I was listening/watching while I was doing my own dip manicure using gels. I've tried this method a while back but the whole dip process didn't turn out as well as I would've liked but I decided to give it another try and it's much better this time around. And I believe it's because I've used much thinner gel applications.

    That blue on your right hand is a very beautiful color and not too dark or too much of a gray/purple blue! And looks like it would go good with all skin tones. I have a more tan skin tone and I hate when I get certain colors that I love and are stunning but look weird for my tone. I wish I’m the color descriptions they would also list what skin tones and or under tones works best with haha!

    Not sure why I am just now seeing this! After a year of using only gel polish (advocate for the pudding gel trend!), I just recently started doing dip powder with gel polish. I prefer it to dip liquids. I get a cleaner cuticle line with no flooding with gel base and more often than not, don't have to clean around the cuticle.
    Gorgeous mani!

    Hi Kate. What products do you advice for a sensitivity to acrylate? This started close to 6 years ago. I may or may not get tiny blisters under my skin and one one maybe two fingers. I’ve now limited my nail salon visits to once per quarter. I miss going regularly so much but I’m finally okay with doing nail treatments at home. Efile and all. But I’m wanting to try these gels that you shared and see if this is a safer, none side affect products that I can invest in. Thanks 😊

    Enjoyed your mani! I believe I suffer with dip flu. The episode I had developed into full blown “crud” requiring a visit to the doc, so I am not totally certain. I haven’t had the nerve to experiment again just to see, so I switched to gel liquids. I was particularly interested in your pink powder in this video. The gels I am using are turning my pinks to tan (so frustrating). I did notice the slight color difference on your comparison to the swatch. How did the pink hold up the remainder of the mani for you? Maybe I should try West Coast…

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 роки тому +4

      Because the powder is over the gel base it isn't tacky on the surface. :-) Once you pour over the powder and cure it then the powder and the base are quite solid and not sticky.

    I want to do/try the gel method, but I do have a gel allergy, and also I wonder too if my led light is too strong, I didn’t have the allergy before than it developed, I also noticed it too when I got a bigger and stronger lamp. Before I made that big purchase, I used the small one from Sally’s beauty. I think it was gelish brand i don’t remember. It was like the small portable one, and I also had one from Walmart their black little lamp and my allergy started no matter what brand of gel i would use, but I haven’t tried the HEMA gel, I need to, and idk if I should just purchase the portable lamp again that isn’t as powerful I have the Young Nails led lamp. Idk if the power contributes too. When I went to the ER before because the itching and boring and little bumps got so bad and than I got blisters too from all the rubbing and scratching the doctor said along with the allergic reaction it looks like a bad sun burn also. So idk what to do

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 роки тому

      Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this. Honestly from what I know about gel allergies, the lower power lamp could have caused the gel allergy (indirectly). So uncured gel on the skin can lead to gel allergies and if the lamp didn't cure your gel fully then it could have led to the gel allergy. I'm so sorry you had this happen to you, from what I know, the gel allergy is here to stay... there's no way to get rid of it once you have it. Now some people with gel allergies can find some gels that work for them, but it's a trial and error situation. Triple D sells a "delicate gel" base/top that works for some people with gel allergies. The hard thing is that some people are not just allergic to the HEMA in gels, it can be another ingredient altogether and it's hard to identify.

I want to do the gel method on my right hand bc I always flood my cuticles 😣 But the color difference always keeps me from doing it. I did see that you do a 2nd pour after the first has absorbed. Are you adding 2 coats of base and 2 coats of top coat at the end?

      I did one base and one top coat and then did my filing, then I did base and top again to finish off the mani.

      @@KatesNailKorner why not file after your last pour over then just do top coat?

      I like to use a Diamond bit (they are pretty fine grit) to shape the surface of my dip powder.

      @KatesNailKorner  2 роки тому +1

      No activator needing when using gel liquids; the lamp cures the powder.

    I need this method. I have never been allergic to anything until I used dip liquids for the first time. Almost a whole week sick with sneezing, headache and runny nose !!
