I'm in school currently to become a licensed nail tech. I loved most of your video, but I wanted to hop in here and plead with everyone to WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE PREP! You are absolutely correct that the softer our nail plates/the more moisture they have, the greater your potential for lifting. However, that comes from soaking your hand in a finger bowl during a classic manicure, NOT from proper hand washing technique. ALSO! You can (and should) dehydrate the nail using either acetone or alcohol! You can buy a dehydrator from your favorite nail brand, but both acetone and alcohol are dehydrators. They momentarily halt the production of oil and moisture your nails naturally create. It is halted for 30min, so I dehydrate one hand at a time. Additionally, get a good primer! Primer or Super Bond is very important if you want your nails to last a long time. First, swipe the dehydrator on the hand that is about to receive application, then use primer/super bond SPARINGLY on ONLY your natural nail plate (otherwise you're just wasting product), then begin your application! You are so right that a lack of nail prep, (ie filing/buffing), plays a big factor in lifting! But application can get us as well: do not flood your cuticle area/clean it up if it floods (like Miss Marla demonstrated for us) because that cuticle area is what creates natural oils that then get under the product and cause lifting. Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to let you know that is VERY advised to wash your hands before the service because after the nail plates are prepped, simple acetone/alcohol/dehydrator to the nail, followed with primer, will show significant improvement in terms of long-lasting nails. Good luck!💝
@@misschris258 I've been using Valentino's Super Bond; but I think they'll all get the job done tbh. Primer is only for acrylics (which includes dip, liquid & powder, gel-x, & polygel.) For regular nail polish, get a lacquer/regular base coat; for gel polish get a gel base coat. I recommend Beetles or DND gel polish.💝☺ Also thank you to the content creator! This video was very helpful!!
I used dawn and water to wash my hands before prep and had lifting within the hour. I now skip that for at least an hour before hand and sanitize with 91percent alcohol and the lifting issue has improved a lot. Also it was the original blue dawn so didn't have any oils or anything. Some nails absorb water especially nails that are done often as mine are done twice a week as my nails will lift after three to four days requiring me to remove them and redo or they get caught on things and that hurts and does lot of damage to my natural nails.
Watched this video then bought the Revel starter kit on Amazon with the liquids and 4 powders. Just did my first dip manuicure following this video - and my nails look great! So much easier than I expected and so glad I don't have to contnue paying $80 a month at a salon. Love the tip on liquid care & wiping my brush on a paper towel before it goes back in the bottle! Thank you so much for the very thorough step by step tutorial.
Did my very first powder dip tonight after watching your videos. This tutorial was amazing! I watched along as I did each hand. Made it so simple and way less stressful. My nails turned out great for a first time, thanks for your content!
I cannot thank you enough for this video!!!!! I did my 3rd dip mani today, and I'm so flipping thrilled with the results!!! Say hello to saving $120 a month!!!!! Woop woop!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for your amazing tutorial! I tried dip polish for the first time and my nails came out beautiful! 💅🏾 I followed your instructions as closely as possible. Your tips and visual demonstration were very helpful!
This video changed my life, lol. My first attempt at doing dip nails almost had me sending my kit back. After doing my second set following along with your video, I am amazed! My manicure looks salon-worthy! Thank you so, so much!! 💖
Goodness, finally! I've seen SO MANY how to dip videos by "professionals," but yours was by far the most clear to understand, in my opinion! I appreciate the step-by-step explanation, with visual, for someone who has NEVER done this EVER! Thank you SO MUCH! ❤
So Pretty. It's hard, when you have zero experience, and need step by step instructions, That Moment of Clarity, when you get it, Helped with building Dip Powder Confidence.. Thank You, So Much 💅
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I've been on and off doing my own dip nails for the past few years and this is the FIRST tutorial that helped my manicure not be too bulky or lift too easily! 😍
I just ordered the Modelones 20 piece color starter kit from Amazon and can’t wait to do them at home. I’ve done my own gel polish and even played with polygel but I love a color that will last 2-3 weeks so this seems perfect. Love your tips and instructions. Great tip about not washing your hands 1 hour prior! Thanks!
I used to do my own dip nails but stopped because they kept lifting after a week or so. Stumbled across this video and decided to start doing them again myself! Plus it will save me the $50 every other week I spend at the salon. You definitely taught me things I didn’t know!
Thanks! This is the best video for a beginners guide and you seriously end up with Flawless Nails. I really appreciate this! I don’t think I would have stuck with this process without watching this video.
Omg thank you. This is my second attempt at Dipping Powder nails. First time, just followed the instructions that were in the set of powders. This time, I found your channel and did step by step with you. My nails are gorgeous. I look like I just stepped out of the salon and spent $100. I can't believe I did this at home in an hour. 😊
Just tried this for the first time and followed the instructions on the product. What a mess and hour to take it off again. Your tutorial is just what i needed. I think i did about 10% of what i needed to do. Thank you for a great tutorial.
I am a newbie and looks like it's been a while since someone commented. I searched for your Facebook page and the only Marla Kris I found was speaking Spanish... I love your presentation and used it to step by step do my nails. I can see it will take some time to get it smoothed out. Seems like I am using a bit too much product, but I will find a happy place as I go along... Thanks for the video of which I will certainly be back. I am trying the peelable base coat. I don't mind doing them more often if it cuts down on the removal and prep time.
Thank you so much! I started dipping about a month ago and your channel has helped me out immensely. Even though I feel called out for getting hair stuck in my nails 🤣
Hi Marla, I have been neglecting my nail channels because of politics and the government issues. Today I said enough! Reviews are always fabulous, what a beautiful color. Thanks for sharing you knowledge with us, your loved and appreciated. 💖
I’m brand new to this tech and stumbled across your channel, thank you! You have been blessed with long fingers and spectacular nail beds, unlike me, who has stubby nails. You have beautiful results and a calm demeanor that is very helpful. I’ll bet you never thought your nails would be the money maker! Good for you! I’ll keep watching! ❤
After 4.5 years of dipping, I discovered that using gel topcoat instead of the base that goes with the kits (and poring over instead of dipping), works so much better. It's worth the small cost of the UV lamp. No gunky wasted liquid or hardened brushes. They just come out more professional. I'd like to see you do a video with this method.
I tried this method also and love it better. Cause it's beginner friendly. I didn't have the patience for cleaning the brushes and smoothing out the hardened dip after the activator part. The uv gel lamp acts as the activator.
By far the best step by step tutorial I’ve ever watched. Love that u didn’t skip anything and you explained everything in details. U gained a follower 😁. Thank you
I really like how u did teach the step by step. It's easy for me to follow. Coz I've seen many other videos, and it's confuses me what product they are putting. Thank u, and i can't wait to try it before the concert I'm going too
Great video Marla! When I was trying to learn how to do dip nails I bounced around like a ping pong ball trying to figure it out. All the vocabulary was foreign to me. I kept coming back to your vid’s because they were so good. This should be so helpful to newbies.
Oh what a great video. Love the tutorial and how you explained in detail and took us through the whole process nail by nail. I like when you do that because I can follow along while I do my own. Please consider doing that more often. Definitely getting some of those tools you mentioned. I received my first Revel dip powder today. Now I'm have to go order the liquid products now including the peel base.
I loved that you said you have no qualifications on the topic. It totally motivated me to try it out as I have been spending hundreds to have my nails done by professionals and I have yet to see good results. It looks like practice is key!
I think I've watched this tutorial 3x at least. I love the color! And it's good for me to refresh my memory so I don't develop bad habits. But I just enjoy your sharing. Great job!😊
Thank you so much for the technique and how to care for your kit. I just spent almost $50 for my first nail done today, the person did the nail I think is not as good as you. Im going to buy the stuff just do it by my own!
I’m giving up the nail shop have a small collection of nailboo I’ve been wanting to see revel. I was so worried about taking diy on myself but you nd he this look so fun and simple. Thank you for the honesty energy and sister vibes I’m def hooked. Thank you
Awesome tutorial Marla! I’ve followed you for a couple years and that was very helpful.😊 I even shared it with ladies who have expressed interest in doing their nails 💅🏼. 💕
Thank you, This video was very informational. I am just now starting doing my own nails to save money at the nail salon. This video has so many great tips.
I always love a detail info so when I'm going to do my nails I can go back and look at mani to make sure I'm doing it correctly. Thanks for the help and hard work that you put out.
Thanks for the tip about washing hands that could be my problem with peeling off. I would do my nails and the next day they would chip regular polish never chipped that soon and gel doesn’t. I like the dip powder for the ease and how fast.
Just purchased a completely different nail kit that came with HORRENDOUS instructions. Your tutorial made the process so easy to understand. Thank you!
Hi miss Marla , I really love watching your tutorials , you mentioned that leaving comments help your channel so here I am. What I love about you is that every time I have questions you always respond promptly lol I am an ocd person when it comes to nails 💅🏼 so I really appreciate you answering all my concerns. Bendiciones 💞💞💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼
I have been considering doing my own dip manicure rather than going to the salon but I been afraid to try so far. Your video gives great info and inspires me to go ahead and try. Thank you very much.
Everything new can be a little scary, I get it! But I’m excited for you to play! You may like the FB group.. so many supportive weirdos in there from newbies to pros! And me! 😆
Go for it. Due to washing dishes etc, I find normal nail polish starts coming off after 2-3 days. I tried dip for very first time 8 days ago. I did heavy duty cleaning which would normally strip half my nail polish the next day. Only today on day 8 did I start getting a couple very minor cracks (only visible if looking close under a light) and couple miniscule chips coming off near cuticles. I haven’t tried removing yet, as confident they will still last another couple of days, so waiting to see if damage to nail underneath, but they have looked stunning and definitely salon appearance, so given it was my first attempt I can only assume it will get better.
Hey, thanks! I recently bought a Revel starter set (with these same EZ liquids) so this tutorial makes me feel more confident about using it. I have used the set once already (my first time ever using dip powder) but had some issues with how the top coat performed and ultimately came out. However now that I've watched this video I think it'll turn out better. 👍 Practice makes perfect!
Great tutorial...first time of using dip powder which came with little instructions, so logged onto here and didn't need to watch any others!! Really informative and lovely background music THANK YOU
Thank you for doing such a patient step by step tutorial. My Revel kits are on the way and a friend recommended I watch all your videos while I wait. I can’t wait to get started.
I love you videos!! It gave me the courage to give it a try - my first time I did a French ombré with almond full extensions and it turned out way better then the salon!! 🤯 I followed your prep so I’m hoping they will last 😊 thank you so much for your videos!!
This is the BEST video for beginners...! It is SOOOOOO good, that after being a hard opponent to anything fake you cover your nails with forever, now I want to do it...! 😊 Thank you! ❤️
Very helpful video! Just ordered my first kit from Double Dip! I’ve only used gel previously. But since I’m home all the time during the pandemic I’ve been able to grow my natural nails way longer than I normally would I wanted to try something stronger so my nails don’t break! This breaks the steps down perfectly! Thank you!
I am doing beetles (full nails and dip powder)!!! Thank you soooo much for your encouragement. I think I am getting close to almost perfect! Thanks teacher 😘
I really appreciate this play by play video. I just received most of my supplies and I'm thinking I'll try the dip manicure first. I have to repair a split first on my thumb. Hopefully everything goes smooth. Thank you Marla!
Best tutorial so far. I tried this for the first time yesterday, they came out nice, but I wish I saw your video first. You made it so easy, even explaining how to keep the brushes clean. Mine stiffened up on me. 🤦🏻♀️
I got my first dip kit after I found your channel and watched a bunch of videos. I went with the revel kit too. Just did the first dip and I'm so happy with the outcome
Wow dear!! I thought if you do this that the product comes out!! But now i see the why!! I have and been doing nailboo dips which i love.. but did not know this step. ❤thank u again.. greetings from Boston Ma..❤
Thank you for making that statement about healthy nails. Although as you said you are not a professionally licensed nail tech I do think people will listen to you. I to have been using nail dip for years. My nails are extremely thin do to thyroid disease. I was told nail dip would help give stronger healthier nails🙄. Nope! It does help keep my nails from tearing and yes, it makes them stronger by adding a layer BUT no more than any other nail enhancer. Thank you for the video. It's been a great help on cleaning up the dip around my cuticles 🥰
Thank you so much for this! You’re exactly right. There’s not really anything that can alter the chemistry or biology of your nails and it bothers me SO MUCH when I hear people state the contrary! I appreciate you and your kindness 🥰
I just did my first powder dip tonight with help from watching tons of your videos. They look amazing!!!!! I wish I could post a picture. They look just like I went to a nail salon!!!!!🤗😁😘😉😊 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!
Thank you for sharing these instructions! I’ve practicing and find it very effective to support my finger by holding a small object under the finger I’m working on. I use a small nail polish bottle.
Marla: Wow!!! Your tutorial💞 is amazing🙌🏼 and you make it seems so simple that I can not wait to do my nails with the dipping powder. I have been watching videos, and my daughter have been using the powders but I really didn’t like the bulk I see on the nails, though I have to admit that her nails look beautiful and have grown. I was always wondering why is it that most people get that bulky look that I so much dislike and looking at you working, I noticed that you are in no rush, so need to be patient. I really have to try your tips; I didn’t know the thing of the water remaining on the nails for an hour a wash, though I always noticed that water is my manis’ enemy. I also love, love the care you take of your product brushes to keep them clean and uncontaminated with other products being used. Again thanks for a great tutorial👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻, I really loved it🥰 and learned a lot! Blessings!🤗
I’ve always done my own manicures with regular polish mainly because felt I could probably do a better job than most salons. So it was with my first dip manicure ever at the salon. The shape of my nails was ugly and unnatural which brings me here researching diy dip. I love your video very straightforward very helpful tips. I’m ready to try it. Peelable base sounds healthier for the nail, no?
There’s always a learning curve, like with anything! You’d be surprised how quickly you improve! Products aren’t “healthy” for your nails.. nail are dead lol BUT I use peel base so I can remove enhancements like dip super quick. Keep in mind, peel base isn’t meant for longevity and usually only lasts a couple days before they pop off 🧡
I’ve been doing my nails with dip powder but also with tips on them and some of the videos I’ve watched tell you to start a good amount of space before your cuticle and lightly push the polish/base with your brush back towards the cuticle that way you prevent flooding or too much products and it has been working so well for me lately!!!
Thank you so much for mentioning the wait times between activator and top coat. Just started dipping because I got tired of acrylic and this is faster for me to do. That last step was giving me so much trouble. With your guidance I am sure my manis will turn out great!
I loved this.. been paying toooo much per month and now realize I can do it all myself...Some of your links aren't opening but I did look at the Revel link.. thank you..
You are amazing! I've watched so many tutorials with just music that did NOT tell me how to do this. My first try was a train wreck. But watching your video, I'm hooked! My nails look great! Thank you so much for explaining how to and what not to do in detail. REVEL should hire you! Warmest Christmas wishes, Andrea
Tried my first dip polish last week with average results. 😪 I will do what one of the ladies that commented- will watch video when I try again. You've given me a bit of confidence. Oh and your nails are fab!! 🥰
As a nail technician we don't rough up the nails. We take the shine off because the dip powder, etc, wil not stay on the nail. You can use alcohol that's for nails to clean your bottles.
Omgggggg. Yes!!! Keep doin what you’re doing. I never leave comments, but i had to with this. I just started dipping and honestly this was the best video to help. Thanks girl!
I'm in school currently to become a licensed nail tech. I loved most of your video, but I wanted to hop in here and plead with everyone to WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE PREP! Could you recommend a good primer/super bond? And should this be used no matter if you’re doing regular polish, gel or dip?
@@misschris258 I've been using Valentino's Super Bond; but I think they'll all get the job done tbh.
Primer is only for acrylics (which includes dip, liquid & powder, gel-x, & polygel.) For regular nail polish, get a lacquer/regular base coat; for gel polish get a gel base coat. I recommend Beetles or DND gel polish.💝☺

Ty for the comment. How do you properly wash hands before hand? With or without soap? Ty

What I love about you is that every time I have questions you always respond promptly lol I am an ocd person when it comes to nails 💅🏼 so I really appreciate you answering all my concerns. Bendiciones 💞💞💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼💅🏼
You make my heart smile 🥰 thank you, lovebug ❤️
Thank you for the simple and lovely tutorial for beginners. ❤
Keep me posted with how dip mani #2 goes!! 💞
Great real-life tutorial with a narration that is easy to listen to. Very good!
I wish I had found this video when I fist started dipping my nails. This video was so informative thank you
Now I can start my nails again!!
A dust collector helps a lot with keeping floating powder contained as well as filing dust.
Very clear voice and soothing. I like it simple and to the point. Thank You!
Great tutorial...first time of using dip powder which came with little instructions, so logged onto here and didn't need to watch any others!! Really informative and lovely background music THANK YOU
Thank yiu so much for this!! Never even thought about this technique and stumbled on it by accident. Definitely an option for me now.
Thank you for doing such a patient step by step tutorial. My Revel kits are on the way and a friend recommended I watch all your videos while I wait. I can’t wait to get started.
You’re so welcome! I’m so excited for your new nail journey! 🙌🏻❤️
I love you videos!! It gave me the courage to give it a try - my first time I did a French ombré with almond full extensions and it turned out way better then the salon!! 🤯
I followed your prep so I’m hoping they will last 😊 thank you so much for your videos!!
Ooh yay!! I’m so glad you’re loving your own nails!! Salons got nothin on you! 🙌🏻 Please report back and lmk how the prep worked out for you! ❤️
This is the BEST video for beginners...! It is SOOOOOO good, that after being a hard opponent to anything fake you cover your nails with forever, now I want to do it...! 😊 Thank you! ❤️
So glad you liked it!! Come back and let me know how your dip experience was!! 🙌🏻💞
Great detailed tutorial! Wish I could’ve watched this before I started dip myself!
Never too late to learn new things! Thanks so much for watching! 💞
Thank you!
You’re gonna love the double dip products!! Some of my faves! 💞
I am doing beetles (full nails and dip powder)!!! Thank you soooo much for your encouragement. I think I am getting close to almost perfect! Thanks teacher 😘
I did nothing! That’s all you, love!! So proud of you!! 💞
❤❤
I really appreciate this play by play video. I just received most of my supplies and I'm thinking I'll try the dip manicure first. I have to repair a split first on my thumb. Hopefully everything goes smooth. Thank you Marla!
You so got this!!!
I got the Swiss silk to repair the tear.
I Snapped a nail so now have nubbies! This red looks amazing on short nails so guess I'll be doing this at the weekend. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Welcome to the nub club!! I saved ya a seat ❤️
Best tutorial so far. I tried this for the first time yesterday, they came out nice, but I wish I saw your video first. You made it so easy, even explaining how to keep the brushes clean. Mine stiffened up on me. 🤦🏻♀️
We’ve all been there! Ya live and ya learn lol but I’m so glad you found this helpful!! 🫶🏻
I got my first dip kit after I found your channel and watched a bunch of videos. I went with the revel kit too. Just did the first dip and I'm so happy with the outcome
Ooh yay!!! Happy first dip! Here’s to many more!! 🙌🏻💙
@@MarlaKris Thank you so much. I love your videos.
Wow dear!! I thought if you do this that the product comes out!! But now i see the why!! I have and been doing nailboo dips which i love.. but did not know this step. ❤thank u again.. greetings from Boston Ma..❤
So helpful! I put you in a folder titled Dip Powder 101. Thank you. Back to the basics and I always learn something new.
Thank you so much for watching!! 💞
I appreciate you and your kindness 🥰
excellent tutorial.. simple and to the point.. I did my own.for the 1st time following the directions...I'm impressed
That’s outstanding!! And thank you for your kindness 🥰
This is the BEST!! I’m so glad you had a great result!! And thank you for sharing this with me!! 🫶🏻💞
Thank you for sharing these instructions! I’ve practicing and find it very effective to support my finger by holding a small object under the finger I’m working on. I use a small nail polish bottle.
That totally works! So glad you’re finding this helpful! ❤️🫶🏻
The best video I have seen on this so far!! Greatly appreciated. Thank you.
i love this tutorial. i like how they dont have to use the nail drill.
Great tutorial, did my 1st dip, used no wipe gel topcoat for finalé
You are so cute, and I love how real you are! Sign of a very confident woman! You've given me the courage to try doing my own nails. Hoorah!
Omgosh thank you so much for your kindness!! That makes my whole heart smile! You so got this, lovebug!! 🙌🏻❤️
Marla:
Wow!!! Blessings!🤗
Omgosh you’re just the sweetest! Thank you so much for your kindness! You’ll have to let me know how it goes for you!! 💕
I’ve just ordered a dip powder kit so googled how to and this is perfect!
Yay!! Hope this is helpful! Report back! 💞
It's always nice for a little 'refresher'. Thanks for another great video. Love the color...and your shorties!
I may have already commented this before, but this video is so helpful. Thank you so much for posting. I have watched every time I dip my nails lol 🥰
Your nail beds are the stuff dreams are made of… 😍
I wish I could take credit for them! Thank you 💞
Thank you so much for mentioning the wait times between activator and top coat. Just started dipping because I got tired of acrylic and this is faster for me to do. That last step was giving me so much trouble. With your guidance I am sure my manis will turn out great!
You’re so welcome! Please report back and let me know how it went! 💕
@@MarlaKris my mani turned out awesome! Thank you so much for your guidance 🙌🏼 It has been a week and my nails still look like the first day 💅🏼
Hey Marla, love the shorties on you so cute! Great video, I’m still learning how to properly file and shape. This was super helpful!💜
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Amazing video thank you for your content. In my opinion you know more about nails than most experts!
Omgosh you’re so darn sweet 🫶🏻
I loved this.. been paying toooo much per month and now realize I can do it all myself...Some of your links aren't opening but I did look at the Revel link.. thank you..
Amazon changes links sometimes, it’s annoying I know! Lmk if you need direct links for anything ♥️
I love this color. Had to jump on and order it after seeing this.
Omg it’s so good - you’re gonna LOVE it!
I’m so glad I could be helpful!! Thanks for your kind words 🥰❤️
This was super super helpful!!! I have had dip polish for 2 years but I was scared to use it. But your video encouraged me. Thank You so much!!!❤️
Omgosh you’re so welcome, sweets!! You got this!! 💕
Tried my first dip polish last week with average results. 😪 I will do what one of the ladies that commented- will watch video when I try again. You've given me a bit of confidence. Oh and your nails are fab!! 🥰
Do you recommend Revel?
Hey love! Please let me know how the next dip goes! And yes, I’m a big fan of revel products! 💕
Great video especially about washing hands prior to nail prep.
Thanks so much, love! 🥰
@@MarlaKris I love all of your videos Marla. Love, love your personality!
Nice helpful video thank you....very good tip with the orange stick by going around the wall and cuticle...I'll definitely try that
Thank you so much for watching 🫶
I like the the clear bottles!! you really know the product that you have.
Exactly why I like them too!! 💕💕
I looove this color omg!! Love it very elegant i think..❤
As a nail technician we don't rough up the nails. We take the shine off because the dip powder, etc, wil not stay on the nail. You can use alcohol that's for nails to clean your bottles.
Thanks for all the tips. Especially not getting your nails wet. I had no idea!
You’re so welcome, love! ❤️
Omgggggg. Yes!!! Keep doin what you’re doing. I never leave comments, but i had to with this. I just started dipping and honestly this was the best video to help. Thanks girl!
I’m so glad this was helpful!! Yay! And thank you sooo much for your kindness. I’m truly honored 🥹🫶🏻
Oh my god yiur a lifesaver so explanatory and so helpful
I must have watched this 10 times, but I finally did my first dip! Only one hand tonight, dominate tomorrow. Thank you!
Ooh yay!! How’d it go??
Ok. I am willing to learn and get better. Dominate hand was hard! ❤
Never thought dip could be done at home. Thanks for the well-done video. Your natural nails are really nice - lucky you!
It sure can! And thank you so much!! 💕💕
In love with your videos my daughter is the one that told me about your videos and she loves your videos too. You have helped me a lot.
Omgosh thank you! 🥹 And please thank your daughter for me as well! So glad you’re finding the videos helpful! 💕
I have never heard the water thing before. Thank you for the tip!!
You’re so welcome! ❤️
