People seem to forget that when the 5.7L V8 first came out, that engine was snapping cams and Toyota fixed that issue too. That didn't make the 3UR-FE unreliable at all.
I'll give three-four years and then get one.
Come back in 5 ( maybe).
Just love my TRD Pro Solar Octane
Almost all turbo charged motors will wear out much quicker then nonturbo.
I agree. But I do make the exception for turbo Diesel engines.
Can I buy this as a crate motor and put it in my '14 Highlander? Kthanks lol.
I am OK with my Chrysler/Jeep 3.8. 200k and no problems.
Did he say hollow cam shafts???
Sou mecânico Em Angola seguido vocês é querendo a prender más alguém para me passa céu conhecimento
So lightyears ahead, it gets the same MPGs as the outgoing V8
I respect everyone who were involved in this Seriously the best piece that i ve ever seen on UA-cam 💌 Hate off to well all 💟 love your videos
That's was a joke right? This truck and build are an absolute embarrassment from top to bottom
@@xspower21 Your opinion. We love ours. Our F-150 5.0 was a joke! We are happy we switched! Besides Toyota's V6 engines are absolutely legendary in the tuning community. Yes, new platform woes are a thing with any manufacturer but they'll get everything ironed out!
This should have been in the new supra
Amen brother ....
They could charge $70k easy for that peformance, awd supra making almost 600lbs of torque would be a dream.
v6s sound bad, i6 better
Would be the same displacement because the bore is small w a massive stroke for low end power
Nope. I’ll stick with the V-8 non turbo for REAL longevity thank you very much. BTW, why is everyone wearing masks in this video?
I wondered the same thing. Drop the freaking control propaganda already . Disgusting how weak minded the masses have become.
I'm sorry but no fan of the redesign of the Tundra. Take my 2014 any day and I'll keep my 5.7 too!!
Toyota must know what caused all of the engine failures on the 2022 engines. They evidently improved the situation. Lets hope!
They're telling people it's machining debris while changing the main bearings under the radar.
So why do people keep saying 3.4L if it’s 3.5?
The actual displacement is something like 3445cc which is about 3.45l so people call it either of the two.
Ok Toyota 🧑🔧
The core engine seems good but the cooling system is WAY too complicated :/ Too many opportunities for leaks
More like it going to be a nightmare to do stuff when you have to remove that to get to something under there.
The employees put up with a lot with mandated face diapers. I’d be completely out of breath after every shift.
2024 May 30: Houston Control ... yes Houston, we have a problem with our engine, copy?
Everything sounds great until the Hybrid was mentioned. Those are disposable can only be used for six years.
V6 + Twin Turbo......receipe for disaster....they should keep the V8......
Agreed
Yep you called it, total disaster.
No wonder they are having so many issues
Fast fwd to May 30,2024 and what do we have going on here now?
Hmmm, they say 22/23/ but most are saying 24 & hybrid too ( a caveat on the hybrid as it can allegedly be driven off the highway before she is totally chooched. Best read the latest from old Toyota on the plan on fixing a total so far of 110,000 engines. gulp ...
Not a good look for a lot of unhappy campers is it?
Twin turbo v6 on the new gx550 gets 15 mpg…
get rid of the turbo's more moving parts more problems
2 corolla gr engines in one
100,000 recalls (so far) and stop sale...go back to simplicity
Why do I get the felling these people know nothing about what they are building. You come over here, tighten this bolt until the light goes on. Then do it again!
I'd still rather the N/A 5.7 liter V-8 engine
V6 3.5 ecoboost
Why are they all wearing masks ?
so that their McDonalds lunch particles do not contaminate the engine.. DUHHHH
The FBI monitors videos on bomb making Toyota, just saying.
More air flow is nice but if there isnt more fuel and better spark/combustion then it's just a waste! I can get a Ram 2500 Power Wagon with the 6.4 V8 hemi get 20+ mpg!! So tell me again how the New Tundra is so good?
You don't get 20+ mpg from a 6.4 power wagon
@@corydelbiondo5773
You wanna bet?
@@stevenpeterson7234 yes I do
@@corydelbiondo5773
What are the 4 ingredients needed to make better fuel economy? If you cant answer this, this will tell me everything I need to know!!
@@corydelbiondo5773 as an prior owner of a Ford Ecoboost, it may get good mpg empty but loaded and with the turbos spooled the thing got 7.8 mpg !!!!! My new tundra 5.7L v8 with the same boat trailer gets around 10.5 and doesn't skip a beat. The twin turbo fad needs to end.
Japanese have more attention to detail I heard in building the engines .but will see will American prove once again that we are number one in building I hope so and I had Toyota before I have ford so far not bad but I would like go back to toyota if they can prove to me they can build better then Ford again tundra was nice 2007 I had but 2018 had more power and better gas mileage on Ford not hard to see why not . Hope Toyota can prove me wrong to go back will see
Toyotas in America are made by Americans, I would know. I work for Toyota... been doing it for 12 years.... lol
Rather have mine made in Japan and tundra should of kept the 4.7 v8 and not mess with this turbo crap
Im swapping a 3uz in my 2022 tundra the little v6 sounds wack
I want a V8 like everyone else but new laws and regulations are forcing car manufacturers to step back from traditional methods of producing a car making things a headache. 🤕 the idea is to make less polluting cars. Which means new engines designs that are to complex, making these cars have a shorter lifespan. Now you gotta buy a few more cars in your life time causing you to make a bigger footprint in the ecosystem, 🤦 laws are dumb not toyota.
TOTAL BLUNDER, TWIN TURBO 6
Oh hell no. A American Toyota factory. WE OUT.
There just getting to complicated and that looks like a nightmare to work on and it probably won't last as long and is going to be overpriced like everything else no thanks but if you have plenty of money then it's probably ok
Too bad the turbo has a failing part that requires the entire turbo has to be replaced. Same turbo as built in Japan's plants but San Antonio failed in assembly.
Made it halfway through this video until you showed some BS dyno graph. No hp/trq cross over at 5252 rpm? Come on, amateurs.
Toyota builds a great product, but wow did they copy Ford this time! Twin turbo 3.5L open deck aluminum block with integrated exhaust manifolds cast in the heads, 10 speed transmission.
Bruh they did all this but didnt want to develop the mk5 them selves 😐
This engine is in all their bigger cars and Lexus models. So they aren’t losing money on it if it was designed for just one car. The Supra uses an I6 model. It’s possible for the next Supra they could switch to this engine.
And all these engines have big problems
I heating the masks
But the Japan built motors are way better!
No. The process is exactly the same in both plants. Failed engines are coming from both places. What does that tell you?
and folks these engines are faulty.... so for me if I'm paying for a Toyota that's unreliable... I'm getting a bmw then
No thanks, I'll stick with the 2UZ-FE or 3UR-FE. This thing will empty your wallet over time in maintenance costs.
I’ll pass, turbos are a problem
Lazy under qualifies american hands, ruining engines one engine at a time.
@ 3:18 - Yup, lightyears AHEAD in being Toyota's most unrealiable engine of ALL TIME! Look up all of the failures in the Tundra and LS500 forums. Failures at less than 20,000 miles. Toyota's QC is in the gutter.
This video is way over hyped this was a waste of time the hybrid setup imo... waste of money ...
How much extra stuff mpg? Etc weight ? How much more money?.. environment friendly How ?
Rust is a issue Imagine taking apart this stuff when it's rusted out in couple years too... did they take anything into consideration about this? Exhaust manifold bolts omg.. why .... remember toyota you messed up some times but also you fixed stuff .... learn from the mistakes ... maybe people will trust again to buy a car that after couple years starts drinking gas and oil together ❤️
@@NAH-vk6pk a buddy of mine just drove up from Jacksonville, FL for Christmas and recorded a little over 16 mpg. I can do that with my 2017 V-8...............🙄
@Robert Landau I bet with out the hybrid setup it works great
American engineers just designed crap lol.
I'll keep my 4rh gen 4runner with the v8 or get a older tundra with the v8 4.7
the twin turbo V6 engine get horrible gas mileage
2.7 Ecoboost is the perfect engine for a truck. Nothing else comes close.
Just had to replace an engine block on a 2023 tundra with only 15k miles at work, we were told by the fts that thousands of these motors were built with "metal contamination". What's ironic is that Toyota likes to continuously emphasize "fix it right the first time" to all of us technicians when these things are rolling off the line ready to blow up lol how would you feel paying a mortgage for a brand new truck then hear a knock knock knock, guess who's there?? Cylinder 5 ready to take an unintended early exit... if this happens to you out of warranty, your looking at 30k in parts alone, another 100 hours labor. Seems a bit much for an already overpriced Toyota vehicle
That. Turbo. Engine are. Not. Good I. Love. My v 8 5.7 I force. Are the. Best 4.6. 4.7. And. 5.7. Are. Mounter. Engine. We love. I. Don’t buy any. Truck. With. Out. V 8. Motor

Boycot American made toyota engines. #japaensemadetoyotaengines#
Why? The ones made in Japan follow the exact same process step by step.
@@rand49erQuality Assurance is better in Japan, look at the 4Runners. They’re absolute tanks, basically bombproof. Why? They’re made in Japan, not sure about the newer 6th gen’s coming out though.
Turbos are gay.

This was a poorly designed engine, bring back the v8
