    It’s kind of crazy watching this video for me. I was a huge Mayer fan during the Continuum and Trio era, and bought a Two Rock, Mayer Strat, and all the pedals. Played the rig for a few months and sold it all over time. Crazy to go down memory lane a bit.

    Well done man. The solderless cables are fine. I’ve been building pedalboards using lava cable tightrope for years with zero issues. I’ve also stopped using a bunch of zip tie anchors to make wiring super clean as I like to change things around too often. So I like all your decisions here. And the tones sound great.

    I've always been a pedal nerd and finally got what I believe is the pedal I could live the rest of my life on and it's the ZZombee from Beetronics. It's absolutely astoundingly great and fun to play with and super creatively inspirational. HIGHLY recommend it to anybody that's curious about it. Beetronics rules. I love it way more than my Q Tron + for sure but really enjoy the Q Tron too.

    This was so entertaining to watch! As a guy who’s built his own board idk how many times over, I honestly prefer how you did the cable management this time vs the 2019 board. It looked too much like the inside of a rack unit inside a server room. Cheers justin!

    Awesome build man! I would love to see Mayer reach out at some point and talk about his board. Its a bummer how much he feels like keeping stuff on the DL. I guess he knows anything he uses is going to quadruple in value overnight though.

    I had my Trailer Trash board all picked out and in my cart almost ready to pull the trigger on it ,and then pandemic .I think they went under, there's almost nothing available in stock on there site .Luckily I found one used on line for a fraction of the price .Just had to settle for black instead of white .That velcro is what I use ,it works just fine .You have to really pry off the pedals .I cant imagine what dual lock must be like.

    I truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into making these videos. Just watched the sob rock pedals on a budget videos. They are fantastic!
    Would love to see a video on the lead tone for Last Train Home, especially how he fades in on the intro and his outro soloing tone. Also if you could recommend different pedals that are essential to the song at a couple different price points (like your typical $100 or $150 (US) pedal vs. something that’s $200 or so). I think my drive section is good, but unsure about the rest. I got a Dyno My Roto, but it sounds like the wrong chorus for this song. The CE-2 is kinda pricey though.

    Amazing video. Thanks so much. The demos are tremendous. I just ordered two pedals from your $500 John Mayer board. And this has inspired me.
    For the smaller board, it was easier to follow. It would really be helpful if you listed the effects, in order. Especially for less experienced players such as myself. You could probably do it in 10 minutes since you know so much. I'll try and do it myself both to learn and make up a wish list. I'll post it in a comment if I can figure it out.

      @@JustinJeske Thanks, Justin. I worked on it last night. I tried to list it from front to back, left to right, and include the chain in that list. That is combining the physical layout, pedal names, and signal chain in one list with options at the bottom. I think it's probably better to separate them.
      Many of these pedals were new to me. I thought you said New Neighbor, not Neunaber🙃 I think I found them all except for the Leslie Emulator. In any case, I'll try and incorporate your list and post it when I think I've got a decent format down.
      I wonder if you've considered posting the links to the "non-Reverb" pedals. I use Sweetwater, so I used them and Google to try and come up with names and prices. I noticed three main sources. Sweetwater, manufacturers, and the rare used market. The latter are way too expensive for me. I'd already used your info to start adding to my Mayer collection, before I saw this video, and will look into the manufacturers. My guitar heroes are Clapton, Hendrix, Garcia, and Mayer, who channels all three then adds to them. I've seen all but John. I'm sure you do this for love, but if affiliating with someone like Sweetwater - I have no idea how complicated it is - would help you, it would help the newer fans find and buy the pedals. Anyway, great work.
      One final comment. Your short demos were the most helpful demos of tone I've seen on UA-cam. Short, well-played, with pedal info. No ego. I'm looking forward to more. Great work.

    • @JustinJeske
      @JustinJeske  2 роки тому

      For sure! If you ever need any more help or have any questions feel free to reach out to me on Instagram, I do my best to look at all of my DM's. Thank you for that final comment Mike, that genuinely means a lot to me! This is why I created this channel to connect with people and to try and pass on some tips and knowledge and playing demos can be a tad intimidating since I'm not a brilliant player, but it's worth it! 🙏🏻

    • @mikem668
      @mikem668 2 роки тому

      @@JustinJeske My favorite UA-cam guitar teacher, and there are many good ones, is Tomo Fujita. Who of course taught John Mayer. One of his pieces of Guitar Wisdom, is Don't Compare. I don't agree with all of philosophical takes, but no worries there. One of the reasons I like Mayer is his own intellectual flexibility, a willingness to explore and change, and his introspection. Even he is on a magical mystery tour. He's also Tone Junkie, but he realized at Berklee that songs - communication and art - is about way more than tech, scales, and technique.
      Too much guitar information on UA-cam is preceded by Vanity Guitar solos. The only guy that really impresses me is Danish Pete at Andertons, and I wasn't surprised he also impressed John. I might not have a good ear for pitch, intervals, etc, but I've spent a long time listening to tons of different genres of music and have a pretty good sense of specialness. Ironically, I don't really know Mayer's earlier stuff very well. His playing impressed me more than the songs themselves, probably because of my age. So his early music found me, or is still finding me, as he would say. You're definitely one of my guides.
      Finally, I'd try and relax more. Or as Tomo would say, be kind to yourself. You have a lot of knowledge, we know you're sincere and love to share your enthusiasm for what you love. At my age, I've given up on perfectionism. Wished I'd done it years ago. As Tomo once told me in a comment, proud to be imperfect. You've got a long journey ahead of you, exploring your own musical universe and bringing information and pleasure to others. I thank you for that and look forward to more Mayer. And maybe... Jerry?

    You northamericans do have a lot of money, it´s so much you spend in whatever new toy comes out. Wish you could see how it is in southamerica, i mean even rich people don´t spend money like that. Only obscenely rich people (the kind that has a grandpa who was president and a private jet) get away with getting obsessed over a famous musician´s tone and trying to replicate it.
    Over here we manage well enough with an OCD, an SD-1, a delay and a reverb, then through a clean amp (a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe if you´re over 30 and still live with your parents) and a couple nice guitars.
