It would be great if Dave, (and one other such as Rabea or Pete,) could take over the Sounds Like series properly. Would love to see him going round the shop, choosing the gear etc. Dave would be really good at closing out the best bits of cheaper gear.

I think if they include that picking up items section...like what made them choose those from the shop it would be even more entertaining. Although I must say this is very accurate, and David is such a good guitarist. This is just a suggestion to spice it up 😅

Loved the "Sounds like" Series, but this new version is a lot more satisfying because it shows the entire process of how the pedals are picked i order to sound like the intended guitarist. Also, Dave is very good, loved the Frusciante video.
Mayer geek here! He mostly used the Bluesbreaker to boost into the tubescreamer, like how he used the blues driver and usually uses a Klon. I was looking forward to seeing the Bluesman in action for this purpose. Enjoyable video nonetheless!

Sounding like John Mayer is difficult. He has a pretty generic Strat tone. The sparkle is all in his actual playing, rather than the sound itself, I think. Having said that, Dave does a fantastic job!

We've all been Dave at some point in our musical journey. Showing up at a gig not having learned the full song and responding to the same old question "did you learn the song" by playing the intro of it and then saying "that's all". If you haven't done that yet, trust me, if you're in a band as a hobby, you will.

More of these please. They are a good starting point for using a multifx. Could you see what swapping out each pedal for a pricier option does so that the route to upgrade can be seen.
Why don’t you sell these effects as a box set? Maybe as seen on the eg.‘John Mayer on a budget’ video with a little incentive tshirt/set of strings? Add a little booklet of settings for various tones and versatility if someone wants to try another artist’s tone?

I would like to see a lot more vids with the psychosomatic drive, it by far makes the most difference for every tone. Too bad its such a hard pedal to find, more rare than the Centaur even, but if the opportunity ever came up again i would definitely donate to the cause , and send you my money for one. Love you guys, keep up the great charitable work
Cool episode :-) Thoughts: loose the first 3 pedals and go: gtr -> zeus -> BD -> TS -> TC SPARK! -> analog delay for slapback-> TC Flashback for longer time. I think this would even be cheaper ;-) For this amount of pedals there’s no need for a buffer. It’s also in my opinion impossible to get a budget friendly Mayer board if u want use the filter effects and get everything into detail. You would have to go get filter, octave, compressor, vibrato,…

Mayer didnt really start using the Klon until post Continuum but its a mainstay now. He does use the Katana>Tube Screamer>Klon stacked for his big outro solos. He has swapped the Klon and Tube Screamer order a million times, sometimes even mid tour.
In a perfect world we would still have the Sound like..... series as well as this new great addition (Dave Simpson). But my suggestion/challenge for you Dave and Lee, is not a specific artist but try to capture the sound of a decade on a budget, ie. The 80's (hair metal), 90's (grunge) etc. If that's not possible then my artist suggestion would be either Mike McCready, Billy Howerdel or Mark Tremonti.
Love the Dave's and Pete's of the show ...of course the Lee in each. Hahah. Great show here today as I really felt the classic vibe probed it's value. The amp too.

Totally agree. Continuum is pure John. And the John Mayer Trio was just perfect. Would love to see him get back to that kind of style.
I really like this series. Especially the selection process of the pedals and the reasoning behind every choice. Also Dave is a great guitarist.
I think the Wampler Psychosomatic made all the difference in taking that tone to the next level. It just adds a little something else.
