This solo gives me life. The reformation of John is beautiful. He's gone through so much and it shows in his skill and writing. No matter what happens I'll support and promote your music, John. Keep up the passion and art.
First of all thank you John for uploading this beautiful video. Then, incredible sound with that Casino, I'm amazed that despite having a contract with a different brand of guitars, you let yourself play the one you want 👏😉 Finally, it's great to hear live that sensation of having recorded the exact solo that appears in the final version, and enjoy the process of coming up with it as well. Thanks again, regards from Argentina. Martin 👏👏🇦🇷
Going to see him soon live for my first time and I can't wait, even if my tickets are shit I get to say I was in the same room as John Mayer, my biggest musical influence alongside B.B King and Jimi Hendrix. John has given me the inspiration to challenge my guitar skills and become a better musician and I am so glad I found his music soo many years ago. I have a spotify playlist of all of his songs that always sound like I am hearing them for the first time because of how deep and intricate his guitar playing is and how amazing Pino and Steve play and structure their musical conversations with John. Absolutely amazing.
One of the best solos I’ve heard in the last 10 years.. and the way he made it! we’ve had also the privilege to watch the full creative process video.. simply perfect, a genius and a real master. Thank you really much John
No pick! That's one of the reasons why this song sounds like Mark Knopfler. Definitely an inspiration. Way to go, John. You are one of the few on the same league with the great Knopfler.
Past Knopfler...just because Mark was first doesn’t mean John can’t do that and more and taking what mentors have taught us and adding our own flare is what it is all about. Mark, BB, SRV all had their own influences, yet they are talked about as if they invented the wheel and weren’t influenced themselves.
Everytime I watch this back, I learn something new about phrasing and how John builds solos. Everytime I watch it there's a new nuance that I missed the time before. I would give a lot just to hang out with him for a day.
One thing I looove about music is how influences blend in so nicely with your own personal touch. Even slight probably subconscious head movements like Stevie or BB come through while he’s playing. Love it. Hope we have another generation of some guitar greats to keep the inspiration going.
Awesome! So good! Already the first take was ACE! And how he switches to his pick at 4:52...MAGIC! The tone of that Epiphone 230TD...fantastic! (Makes me regret that I sold mine in the early 70s because everybody wanted to hear Fender Strats...well you live & learn!)
YES me too, totally Mark. I’m loving how many modern artists are starting to appreciate Dire Straits. Lots of songs on the past 2 Dawes records totally crib from their style too.
I was already very much admiring, and now that my son is learning to play guitar because he is a fan of John Mayer! I now have is a feeling of gratitude. 🤘🏿🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I remember when this first came out, had just broken up with my first ever gf. Plugged my guitar in played to this on repeat stealing all the licks for almost 2 hours, needles to say I felt much better ;))
dude, fuckin like 10 years ago now (I'm so old :( ) John did this thing he does once or twice a year and performs unannounced at this bar in Hollywood, which was down the street from my house but I missed it cause I wasn't much of a fan of his yet. some patron there filmed every song and put it up on her channel a few months before my heartbreaking breakup at the time and I found his performance of Slow Dancing. just him playing alone acoustically in like my favorite version of that song he's ever done. I obsessed over that performance for like a month, learning it note for note over the course, which helped me get over the sadness and anger. I love it, probably listened to that performance like 1000 times, and it's funny cause people in the comments talk about how good the solo is and that vid has over a million views, so something about it connected with people too, even tho it's just John alone in a bar playing a song he was already famous for.
Can't believe this is from a year ago! Loving the new album. It's very John Mayer.... so smooth and interesting. So cool to hear this, and observe this process. This song gets me everytime.
What an amazing player. I must admit that up until two months ago i had never hear about him, but for some random hate on forums. I don't get the hate. Incredible tone on every single song, skilled and above all he's tasteful as well as give a feeling to his music in a way not a lot of people can do. I will get the full album when you release it for sure.

What a beautiful guitar prince you are! I love listening to you! 💜
This solo gives me life. The reformation of John is beautiful. He's gone through so much and it shows in his skill and writing. No matter what happens I'll support and promote your music, John. Keep up the passion and art.
It’s nice to see John playing an Epiphone Casino again!
Angel Live in Texas
Anybody know what year and where is that guitar made?
dcba acba it looks like it was from the the 60’s
Making Lennon proud
Isit an epiphone casino?
First of all thank you John for uploading this beautiful video.
Then, incredible sound with that Casino, I'm amazed that despite having a contract with a different brand of guitars, you let yourself play the one you want 👏😉
Finally, it's great to hear live that sensation of having recorded the exact solo that appears in the final version, and enjoy the process of coming up with it as well.
Thanks again, regards from Argentina. Martin 👏👏🇦🇷
Hands down John is one of THE BEST guitarists around!! That incredible sound...❤️
Nicely done. I can have this on loop for hours. ⭐️💜🌹
Same…I’ve been doing so for at least two years. Not THE WHOLE TIME - but mostly at night before sleep
Absolutely amazing.
johns ability to craft a tangible and distinct narrative with each solo is truly amazing
One of the best solos I’ve heard in the last 10 years.. and the way he made it! we’ve had also the privilege to watch the full creative process video.. simply perfect, a genius and a real master. Thank you really much John
Unreal solo
No pick! That's one of the reasons why this song sounds like Mark Knopfler. Definitely an inspiration.
Way to go, John. You are one of the few on the same league with the great Knopfler.
100 clones and still not close to the dynamics of Knopfler
radialdrift give Davy Knowles a listen
Past Knopfler...just because Mark was first doesn’t mean John can’t do that and more and taking what mentors have taught us and adding our own flare is what it is all about. Mark, BB, SRV all had their own influences, yet they are talked about as if they invented the wheel and weren’t influenced themselves.
@@braddaddis371 There is nothing dynamic or innovative about John's style.
radialdrift i cant think of a more incorrect statement. The solo? Sure very little dynamics but johns one of the best dynamic wise when live
thats the pinnacle of guitar craft.
When mastery of the instrument allows you to express your emotions.
That's some badass stuff John. Keep it up, I love the song 🖒✌
Awesome! So good! Already the first take was ACE! And how he switches to his pick at 4:52...MAGIC! The tone of that Epiphone 230TD...fantastic! (Makes me regret that I sold mine in the early 70s because everybody wanted to hear Fender Strats...well you live & learn!)
You never have to change the tune. It’s a good one. Keep playing it. John. Love hearing it.
This vid pops up in my feed often. I can hear this riff in my head every time I see the thumbnail. That's how catchy it is. So great!
Love this one. Gives me Dire Straights vibes. Thanks John
totally mark knopfler your're right
sounds alot like marks playing on the on every street album
YES me too, totally Mark. I’m loving how many modern artists are starting to appreciate Dire Straits. Lots of songs on the past 2 Dawes records totally crib from their style too.
Love MK & Dawes, he also mixing up with other elements ( blues/soul vocal like phrasing, popular in recent years ) in his own way.
Really? It doesn't sound like Knopfler guitar for me...
This is so good, you're the best!!!👏🏽😍
His music is an absolute gift to the world. Thank you.
Your guitar expressions no words can describe as you played it through your soul
This is my Fav. Song of yours love the tone everthing about it
I was already very much admiring, and now that my son is learning to play guitar because he is a fan of John Mayer! I now have is a feeling of gratitude.
🤘🏿🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
This is so valuable John, thanks for sharing man.
He's taking us along on this journey and I think that's freaking awesome
As If his songs were not enough, i have started listening to this on a daily basis. The man is pure bliss.
Can't believe this is from a year ago! Loving the new album. It's very John Mayer.... so smooth and interesting. So cool to hear this, and observe this process. This song gets me everytime.
Damn! That is so COOL to see the creative process and how it’s done.
This groove in the beginning always puts me in a good mood.
Groove, not grove.
So cool listening to the finished product and being able to go back to this video to hear how the solo develops
Thank you for sharing this video with us! So authentic and inspiring!
This is one of those "watch every single day" videos
Editor 1: I have an idea! Let's have John play awesome guitar solos for 7 mins straight..
Editor 2: yeah...
Editor 1: ...but film it vertically
Editor 2: okay...
Editor 1: and have it so it doesn't fit vertically on the screen and there'd have to be giant ass black bars when they rotate it!
Editor 2: ...brilliant!
Lol
Yeah. Taking a break from Instagram. UA-cam is more educational to me/less of an addictive time suck 🤔😎😂
I’d rather vertical video than no video
I hate that. I do I really do
lol
This guy so the real deal. Humble, always learning, experimenting, giving back to the universe. Mr. Mayer my fav.
I love to see the heart and soul of a true blues player not to mention a true guitar player #blessup
John Your A Legendary Guitarist Who Is Carrying The Torch Left Behind By Our Rock Blues Guitar Hero’s.
After cutting out the solo on ellen's live show this was needed!
Wow. Man. Loved it. Your a very technical guitar player at times. Always trying to crack the codes and use theory. Watching you vibe and feel your way through a lead was sweet. Keep up the killer work. Less thought more feel 'cause that was awesome.
Thanks for sharing this experience with us John. It's selfless and very cool.
