    Thank you! Have a lock on my cedar chest, but this will be one more step to keep the young (4&6) grandchildren safe.

    Is't it a no no to place metal inside a cedar chest?

      @@BackPackHack Metal's rust inside.. Oil and acid in the cedar chest. Look it up. I was wondering what I could keep in mine. I decided.....NOTHING. Can stain fabrics..... Acid and oil. You have to wrap things to protect them from the cedar....so what is the point?

    One flaw in the plan - they turn all the drawers and chests over and spill the contents onto the floor or bed. They won't steal your rifle anyway -- they're looking for small and tidy stuff. Gun thieves are looking for your gun cabinet. Yours is the only DIY tip for adding tray levels to a cedar chest - so very useful for separating stuff! Not too hard to extrapolate to trays with full sides instead.
