  • Today I received and Installed the Powertronics Piggyback ECU for my 2018 KTM Duke 390. This ECU comes with two preloaded maps, Race and Race +. Designed to smooth out throttle response and increase HP and Tq. Heres a detailed installation and and a brief review of my thoughts on the product.

    Best Duke 390 video I have seen. I did the PC5 and Auto Tune install on my bike. You pointed out all the little tricks and things to watch out for. It would have saved me a lot of time. The PC5 alone was a waste of money, and after buying the add on Auto Tune my bike still ran like crap. Dyno Jet help line was totally useless with helping me. They gave me a crappy map to install. I ended up taking the bike to Evan Steel Performance and having them Dyno Tune my bike. They agreed the map that Dyno Jet gave me was crap and managed to get an additional 10 horsepower for me. Two days later, I pulled a code that the dealership read as faulty upstream 02 sensor. I got pissed and removed all the go fast stuff and went back to stock. I kept all the parts and someday will build it again. Next time I think I will go the Powertronics route instead of Power Commander. Keep up the great videos, they help tremendously.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. So many people post piggyback installations. Then the results are usually just word of mouth. Problem is most people see no real performance gains & are embarrassed that they wasted their money on some dud piggyback system. Honestly I can't justify the purchase without any real DYNO chart results

      Lol... I missed my map switch too. I bought mine used didn't see it till I was done.
      Intuvied my harness to the rear brake side of the frame then under and over the gas tank.
      I removed the support brace under the gas tank and crossed it over.
      The throttle sensor was definitely the most annoying but not too bad.

I wanna keep it that way and add a coober air box lid. Is the powertronic maps setup for a bone stock bike? Would I need a dyno tune with just those little mods? • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  3 роки тому

      To perform an idle relearn you should put the bike on a rear stand so that the kickstand can be up. If you don't have a stand then you'll have to sit on it. Once the stand is up start the bike and let it idle for no less than 15 mins and no more than 16. DO NOT touch the throttle at all during the process. Once the time had elapsed shut the bike off and turn the key off. That's it.

      @@marcchiaravallo1257 thanks I have since installed the powertronic ECU and was still getting stalling issues from time to time and I actullay manually adjusted the fuel table for maps and gave it just 1% of fuel over stock between 500 and 2500 Rpms @ 0-26% Throttle and this seems to have fixed the "blipping the throttle" stall issue but I still rarely get the stall out if I pull in the clutch at +4k rpm and let it fall on its face. I read that this one has todo with the cltuch cable adjustment so I will try that next. Seems ridiculous to have to jump through all these hoops to make a brand new bike run properly.

    Did you order yours with the exhaust map?
    All I have is a slip on and I’m trying to decide which map to use? The website makes it sound like any exhaust change to run the exhaust tune but it’s hard to believe that’s the case with just a slip on....

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  4 роки тому +1

      So from what I have found and others in our Facebook Group have gathered... Map 2 is the exact same as the "exhaust" map that Powertronic has on their website in the downloads area. I personally have messages from Powertronic that both Map 1 and 2 that come on the unit when ordered are safe to use on a stock bike. The key difference is Map 2 adds additional fueling and timing to create more power. That additional fuel is only complimented when the bike can breathe easier by the use of exhaust mods and an air filter mod. Hope that helps you.

    • @dsrgarage
      @dsrgarage 4 роки тому

      Mike Bruns sure does!!
      You did yours before the car delete and felt a difference between using map 2 correct?

      I will probably order the air box mod too. Seems like a good idea! Thanks

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  4 роки тому +1

      Exactly. My bike had only the Yoshi slip on at the time of me installing the PT ECU... Map 1 was smooth is what I noticed the most and you could smell the additional fuel as soon as the bike started up. Switching into Map 2 is where I felt the actual power gains. First time I flipped into map 2 I made a U turn and hit the throttle wide open while rolling maybe 6-8mph and the front end came up off the ground a good 2-3 feet. I was shocked to say the least. It never did that to me before. So the proof of the additional power was there.
